Once again the trough goes empty

Why do we allow our elected officials to do this to us? Maybe because not enough of us pay attention. The legislature (notice I did not use "our legislature") spends and spends. It would be great if they did so sensibly. What we need is infrastructure; repair, maintain, replace or new. We need a skilled workforce. We need an educated populace. We need jobs. We don't need to catch up with other states, we need to bypass them.

We have a chance to try a new group this coming election, let's give them a chance. If they fail, well, throw them out next election. If not Louisiana is doomed to loose it's population, it's businesses, and itself (coastline!).

Hey hero, don't drag us cops into this. I think he is right. Real heros don't need to run their mouth like you do. We have people like you on the job who talk the rambo shit and when it hits the fan you are under some table.

I'm tired of you people questioning Lance's sexuality. He will win this election in the primary. I spoke with him, wait till he breaks the news about the at-large councilman joining his campaign.

Anonymous said...

Oh yea, with all the crap with the City Council that will be as big a help as Vitter LOL

Anonymous said...

Lance had nothing to do with the Vitter situation. Rest assured there will never be a scandle involving him and women.

No, It will be about him and men.

I hope Lance stages a big media event to announce the support of this at-large councilman, and I hope it is the councilman whose seat is up next year. Genius move!

The polls show Maxwell winning in the primary. That's why he's being attacked so viciously.

But to attack city employees (which Beard was once), whose names are not on the ballot, shows no class. And probably why according to Roy's latest poll, Beard is in 3rd place.

Daddy ain't gonna win and hand you this seat when he retires. Sorry, get over it. And quit harrassing folks to put signs in their yard/ business/ vacant lot. You really are turning voters off with your high pressure tactics.

Anonymous said...

I seriously doubt any poll shows Maxwell winning in the primary, unless it was a poll taken among eligible voters at the Pentecostal Church.

He is probably in a close second right now among people who even know there is an election coming up, and he is likely to fall once people learn about his record (or lack thereof).

Anonymous said...

Seriously doubt all you want

The last few elections show republicans have gotten 60+% of the votes within the district.

The polls are showing a little less than that right now, but still over 50%. Ask Roy he ran the last poll.

Anonymous said...

I don't know much about polls, but if only 2,000 people voted on the city taxes, and that church has 3,000 members, I believe the 50% or more polls. In fact, there are other Pennacostal churches in the distcrict that will probably vote for him too.

Anonymous said...

All Maxwell has to do is make the run-off to win.

It looks like the gov. and sheriff race will be over in the primary, and a large church vote in the runoff will be enough, due to the lower turn-out.

Someone must be scared for all the childish name-calling to be going on. Especially since it never seems to include either of the other candidates.

Anonymous said...

No, it is all fun and games with the kid. No one feels threatened, because your information is dubious.

The Louisiana Committee for a Republican Majority is dumping money into the race because it was pro-Bush and pro-Vitter. Of course, it was also pro-Clinton and pro-Dewitt, but they have singled out the 25th because they thought it was "trending" Republican.

David Vitter and his wife founded the LCRM. David Vitter hired Lance Maxwell. Now David Vitter and the LCRM are running Lance Maxwell. The problem is that a few weeks ago, it became impossible for Maxwell to run on Vitter's name. He has to run on his own record now, and it is weak.

Anonymous said...

I'm not voting for Maxwell and I will convince as many people as I can not to vote for him either. He is too young and too inexperienced and that is the main reason. I'm not name-calling or anything else unfounded. What has he done to prove his abilities? I have a law degree too. Big deal. I'd bet a majority of the posters on this blog have a law degree. What has Maxwell done to show he is worthy of representing us? Where is his community service? What are his accomplishments other than passing the bar? How many cases has he tried or settled? How many deals, mergers, sales or acquisitions has he done? How many companies has he formed? How many volunteer activities has he done? How many people has he helped? How well does he know this community, really know it - all of it - white, black, Hispanic, Asian, and middle-eastern?

Is it true Lance Maxwell procured prostitutes for his boss David Vitter?

Has Lance had an HIV/AIDS and STD test?

Is there going to be some type of debate between Maxwell, Beard and Roy?

What about Sanders and Dixon?

Anonymous said...

It has been a while since I have weighed in on any particular subject being discussed on this blog. Frankly, most of the recent postings have been rather inane. However, there is one subject that continues to arise and seems to generate much passionate debate. Both sides of the Pineville e-mail debate seem to be so emotional that neither side has bothered to take a step back and consider the players and their real motivation. But first, before we take a look at Mr. Aymond and Mr. Hester, let us look at the content of Mr. Dupree’s e-mails. Where is the smoking gun? An ex-fire chief from Pineville has already obtained the most scandalous e-mails and they indicate nothing more than a continuation of a business relationship that existed before Mr. Dupree became employed by the city. A close look at both these business relationships reveals no quid pro quo. As I understand it, Mr. Aymond has encouraged this ex-fire chief to file an ethics complaint, however, as of this date, no wrongdoing has been detected. Examine Mr. Dupree closely and we find he’s a rather boring public servant. There has been no scandal coming out of the Pineville Mayor’s office that Mr. Aymond has not trumped up. Each time Mr. Aymond has screamed about illegal activity we see two things. First his complaints are motivated by his hatred of Mr. Dupree and second, his complaints fail to be validated. In short, Mr. Aymond’s complaints have not achieved anything but to call attention to Mr. Aymond. Which brings us to Mr. Hester. His involvement seems to be motivated by the desire to call attention to himself also. As a failed political candidate, Mr. Hester may be doing anything to keep himself in the spotlight. His explanation of wishing to verify that he has no liability as a mortgage broker is rather weak. Over the years I have bought and sold many parcels of commercial real estate. It’s my experience that a mortgage broker has very little liability exposure in any aspect of the transaction.

Survey says: Mr. Aymond and Mr. Hester are most likely motivated by the same thing, a desire to paint themselves as champions of the public. In reality they wish to use public funds, public resources, and Louisiana law to create the appearance of municipal wrongdoing where none exist. These men are not champions of the public good, rather they are parasites, feeding off unfounded suspicions and using public assets to pay for their meal.

The Feathers and Bones Have Spoken.

Anonymous said...

Survey also says, Soothsayer is up the ass of Fields and Dupree.
The Feathers and Bones have spoken!

Anonymous said...

Louisiana Statutes provide that Aymonds and Hester can, at no cost, access and view public records. The applicable Statutes provide provide a time frame in which this access must be made available.

The applicable Statutes do not require the desiring viewer to provide reasons for desiring viewing of public records, do not require purchasing anything if copies are not desired and, most importantly do not exclude Aymond or Hester from enjoying the provisions of the Statute.

This continuance harping as to why Aymond and Hester want access is toal bull shit. I do not know Hester and don't think I like Aymond but they each have an unfettered right to view public records.

Pineville is flaunting the provisions of Public Statute and, seemingly, getting away with it. There are no provisions that the Government agency has and reason to deny a citizen access to the records much less allowing Pineville to file a lawsuit against Aymond. What happens if Aymond just wants to look at the public record and only desires a copy of 2 e-mails? He should only be charged the cost of producing the 2 copies.

This matter is indicative of the attitude of Pineville and Alexandria as to not having to be responsible to the citizens or abide by statute.

Anonymous said...

consider the possibility that both of you are right - and sometimes it takes people to do the right thing for all the wrong reasons - the right of the public to know is vital to keep government honest - all you can ask is that the pursuers use legal means to pursue - in this case they are and I appreciate the shit out of them - if recall serves me, soothsayer is a car dealer - not a well recognized fount of truth, honesty, and justice - just let it play out - perhaps it will illustrate to the alexandria city council that crime does not pay (for very long) and there are consequences to getting caught circumventing the law.

Anonymous said...

Reminds me of an old trite story. All lawyers go to hell when they die. They are assigned to the septic pit which is 14 foot deep. Depending upon the height of the car dealer they get to stand on determines how deep they are immersed. Laura Sylvester has been assigned "de plane - de plane"

Anonymous said...

I know Laura Sylvester and have worked with her before. How did she end up on the bottom of the heap. I heard that they had to let her go because they fired that gorgeous black moron, Tiffany Sanders and the council was screaming racism. Is there more to this unfortunate story?

Anonymous said...

Could it be she has little, if any, skills as a lawyer and totally lacking social graces and people skills.

Not everything is a conspiracy or racial action/reaction.

Anonymous said...

Supposedly the creation of the unconstitutional Ordnance relative to unlicensed/uninsured vehicle confiscation was laid at her doorstep.

Any one with an ounce of common sense, excludes Ms. Sylvester, should immediately realize the Ordnance was unconstituitional. This would mean if Alexandria housed a world famous automobile museum the collection would be subject to confiscation. Units sitting on dealer lots are unlicenses. Examples could go on and on.

It is one thing to pas the bar but it is another thing to be a competent lawyer.

Anonymous said...

Perhaps some truth is in order here. First, Sooth is not a car dealer. He is retired, and was in the auto parts business with multiple locations in South Louisiana and South Texas. He has said that his sons now run the company. He's not from Alexandria, but retired here because he likes Kincaid lake, and has grandkids here.
He explains this in past posts to this blog...look it up.

Second, he is an equal opportunity observer and seems to have no ties to any particular political group. He attacks them all when they deserve it...again look it up.

In the past he has written about his observations on Alexandria/Pineville politics and through common sense observation, predicted, political events before they come to pass.

I don't think he's on anybody's side, and you don't want to piss him off. The old geezer can take most of the people on here apart with his words.

And to this poster: Monday, July 30, 2007 7:38:00 AM, Your statement. "This continuance harping as to why Aymond and Hester want access is toal bull shit." is exactaly what Sooth is saying, he just points out a possible motivation for the requests and reminds us that Aymond's continuing attacks on Pineville, et,al, have not produced any evidence of wrongdoing.

I guess you could say I'm a "young" voter; I'm close to the same age as Lance Maxwell. He is actually the only candidate I personally know. I have met Glen Beard, and Chris Roy as well. I can tell you, that I will not be voting for Lance Maxwell, and it doesn't have anything to do with age, experience, or family connections. It is because I do not believe that he has the district's interest in mind. If anyone has ever spoken with him or his girlfriend, you'll understand when I say that he'll smile and talk to you, but out the corner of his eye he's looking for the next more important person to schmooze. He is not an awful guy, he does have decent morals, and he is fairly smart. If he does win, I'm sure it will be fine. However, I would rather take my chance with someone who is not so obviously a politician. I am leaning towards Glen Beard simply because he seems like a down to earth guy, and he seems to have pretty similar ideas to mine. I have concerns about Chris Roy, because I do not think it would be a good idea to have family members influencing Alexandria. I have not been that impressed with Mayor Roy's abrasive manner of leading, and I just don't think it will be good to have both brothers having power over our city.

Anonymous said...

"These men are not champions of the public good, rather they are parasites, feeding off unfounded suspicions and using public assets to pay for their meal."

No matter their motive they are entitled to and are utilizing the provisions of applicable law. Does this mean we have to get sooth to approve our actions.

Glib mouth and age aside he is unimpressive. If he is ranting about denying a citizen a legal avenue of investigation he must think someone deid and left him in charge of something.

In this case he is wrong and needs to shove his feathers and bones where the sun don't shine.

Anonymous said...

I don't care if soothsayer sold auto parts or chicken shit, he is obviously a dumbass. If you are able to read Soothsayer, before talking ignorance again, read the public records law. It says that one seeking records CANNOT even be asked why. So for whatever reason Hester and Aymond want those records the law says they have a right to them. I think when you plucked those feathers and bones you swallowed some chicken shit. Apparently even a dumbass can sell auto parts.

Anonymous said...

I am familiar with Sooth's posting on this site during the municipal elections and he has always greatly overestimated his wisdom, charisma, and wit. Nothing unusual there - I think you will frequently find that with an absence of wisdom, charisma, and/or wit. Not a problem. Many of us on this site lack the genius we claim.

I don't think there are hard and fast rules but being an ex-car-salesman does not purge one of the stigma, does it?

Anonymous said...

Young Professional - If you do not know Glenn Beard, how do you know that you share the same ideals on anything? Have you heard him speak at a forum? Have you sat down with him and asked? If you think the Roys would be running things, what about Beard and his boys? You don't make sense.

Anonymous said...

Good thinking. We can't trust the Beards or the Roys but we can place ourselves in the total control of the Pentecostal church and rely on the same careful guidance and counsel they gave Bill Clinton.

Despite numerous attempts, nobody has been able to give one single reason to vote to baby lance. Not one!

On tomorrow's City Council Committee Schedule:

Public Safety/Transportation Committee Meeting at 3:30 p.m. or immediately following

1. To hear from the Administration concerning the agreement with Cabrini Hospital to close Prescott Road relative to the expansion of Cabrini Hospital.

2. To discuss holding a public hearing in reference to the recommendation of the Administration on closing Prescott Road.

Remember this - we've already sold one street to a hospital and look what a mess it has created. It practically takes an act of God or a GPS system to maneuver from the OK Allen Bridge to downtown Alexandria. Do we want Prescott closed off from Texas to MacArthur?

Has the City done any type of traffic study to see what kind of havoc this will create or how much additional traffic will be sent through the adjoining neighborhoods who want to access property north of Texas located on Prescott? I doubt it. Now is the time to speak up.

Anonymous said...

Nobody can have it all. Cabrini is a magnum cash cow and employer in Alexadria and we have to look after them to a certain degree. If we want to keep them out of the park (and I do) then we need to think up and present an accomodation so that everybody gets something. This is a good compromise - it ain't perfect but what is??- so we better back the mayor out of gratitude for his respect for our feelings. I don't mind going an extra block out of my way, do you?

Anonymous said...

I would like to know why anyone would give up anything when they are not required? It is a governmental body that has the right of eminent domain, not private individuals or industry such as Cabrini. I cannot quite visualize how any action with Cabrini demanding anyone to sell property to them would bear fruit. Please explain that one to me.

Anonymous said...

Let's assume that it is in the public interest for any major employer of Alexandrians and provider of vital goods and services to flourish. No question that Cabrini has gone about their expression of their need the wrong way and our government has responded essentially in the wrong way but now there is a way for the public good to be promoted without any serious injury to our quality of life. The city owns a strip of land between the main campus and some acreage and if relinquishing that strip (Prescott - which mainly services Cabrini and related industry) can solve a significant problem, lets do it.
No, we don't have to. We didn't have to make concessions to Union Tank Car or anyone else - but we do it because it ultimately helps us - you and me.

There are some people who will want to fight just because they can. We survive in spite of these assholes.
amen

Anonymous said...

And I am quite sure that the businesses impacted by the recent Rapides General/ COA collusion will wholeheartedly give you and amen. Yeah, right.

Anonymous said...

Guru, what do you suggest? Is it your position that the city should make no effort to accomodate Cabrini and if so, why?

Anonymous said...

I bet if we told Cabrini to shut up about wanting public property otr get the fuck out they will sytay right where they are. Do you think they will sell that big ass hospital to Walmart and relocate? Let Cabrini buy some private land and build all they want on it, just like everyone else. Or do you believe that the public must cater to the whims of big corporations? I say NO.

Anonymous said...

There is other property available. Has Cabrini laid out all of the plans for development from the corner of Masonic and Texas to the site of the former school? NO! Let's see what they plan to do with all that land. Something is under construction aside a brand new one story building with a single level parking lot. Between this new facility and the cooling towers everyone complained about something is going on. What is it? What are the plans for re-use of the former Salley building once Mid-State's new building is up? Let's think about the property Cabrini has first.

What can the City give up? How about utility cost reduction? How about assistance in providing a pedestrian walk way over and above Masonic? I know people claim it can't be done, but guess what folks? It's done in a lot larger cities than Alexandria. How about endorsements for incentives? There's plenty of room for public participation that don't involve giving up public streets, especially when a traffic study has not yet been conducted.

Anonymous said...

I think it is a mistake to refuse to co-operate with Cabrini just because we can. I don't consider that pandering or unreasonably concilliatory - just mature reasonable common-sense good will and good business. Cabrini wants to bring in some more cardiologists. They buy houses and lawn mowers and groceries and pay a shit-load of taxes. Where is the down side to helping them if it doesn't really hurt us?

I thought guru's were supposed to be smart??!!!???!!

Lance Maxwell is an upstanding young professional. He is an honest and caring individual and has political experience. He worked in the DA's office. He is one of the most considerate people I've ever met. You can blather on about how he's not right for the job; however, there are many of us out here who beg to differ.

Anonymous said...

So, Lynton, we all want to see the emails. Thank you for having the balls to stand up for the rights of the rest of us. Please let us know what you find out...

Anonymous said...

You obviously know little about Lance. He has never worked in this or any other DAs office or anyplace else for that matter unless you count getting coffee for judge ryland or making "deliveries" for the lonesome senator.

But, even if everything you said was true (and it is not) what kind of qualification is that for the job he seeks? He,s considerate?? So is our baby sitter.

Anonymous said...

Are most people that blog just stupid, lonely people? I mean, do you try out your idiotic ideas on your friends and when they laugh, do you run to your computer to show us how intelligent you are?

Let's just look at the last few posts:

1) Hell no, do not give anything to business. They have no rights. That's my land, I'm a taxpayer, I paid for it. Let them close down or move. (say goodbye to the tax base and the funds to keep up the park you dearly cherish - ask the folks in Detroit how things are going with the Big 3 slowly moving out).

2)Then you turn right around and say, let Aymond and Hester stick it to Pineville City govt. Hell, it ain't my money. They need to make them spend hours of taxpayer money sorting through useless emails, hoping to find ways to sue the city and win a lawsuit. I hope they win a big settlement. Like I said it ain't my money. The law says they can do it! (Really, then shut the f*** up about the park in Alexandria. Let the council do what they want. It ain't your money, and the law says they can legally do it).

Make up your mind whether you are the govt; or the elected officials are the govt. You can't have it both ways.

3) A poster says that they will vote for someone that they have never talked to because they share the same views? WTF? How do you know that? Are you on here trying to convince us to be as stupid as you? To vote for people we do not know? If thats the case then Tanner wins sheriff by a landslide.

4) This same poster also won't vote for the Roys because they don't believe in family controlling govt. OK then you can't for Beard either. Its obvious that at 70 yrs of age Father Beard is planning on passing the seat to a son. But you wouldn't know that because, like you so intelligently stated, you've never talked to them.

5) And because someone makes a living from the auto industry they are not smart enough to comment on local govt. I guess that makes me and Ole Abe just dumba****. I thought it was govt. of the car folks (and other non-lawyers), by the car folks (and other non-lawyers), and for the car folks (and other non-lawyers).

Anonymous said...

Obviously, Lance Maxwell is leading the pack. As with Jindal, everyone is snipping at the leader's heels. Hang in there Maxwell. Apparently, you're making progress.

Anonymous said...

You heard it here first.
Pineville is arranging a stand alone monitor to be set up in the council chambers for veiwing of the e-mails that were requested by me.
I understand that extraordinary effort is being used to provide the means to comply with the request for public information as well as it should be. What I find amazing is that people would think this is an extraordinary act, while in fact, it should be accepted as a normal practice, not some abberation.
I did not wish the publicity and was taken aback by it.
What I have learned since is that many people do not expect to be informed by their officials and almost resent those that do.
Hopefully, more of you will come to expect open and honest government and participate more fully.

Anonymous said...

What if we find someone more considerate than Lance?

Anonymous said...

I don't mind open govt.

But now I've had to pay for an extra computer so that you can go scroll through Rich Duprees emails.

When can I come look at whats on your computer? You ran for office, doesn't that mean you should be willing to do the same?

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said "How about assistance in providing a pedestrian walk way over and above Masonic?"

I think it would be very hard to do.
1. It is a state road.
2. Anything that is built would have to be handicap accessessible due to ADA. So you would either have to have a super long ramp, or have elevators on both sides.

What are they going to do on Prescott? Who will be responsible for moving all the powerlines, phonelines, etc. ?

Anonymous said...

So, with the e-mails, can I go to the City of Pineville and request some random secretary's e-mails, and be given access? Can i go to the RPSB and see any teacher or principal's e-mails? How ling must these be kept? Is spam included?

Can you request Slocum's e-mail from the RPSO?

Anonymous said...

yes, yes, yes yes

1). No you didnty have to pay for a new computer. That was Pineville's choice, they could have let him brong his on cd to put them on.

2). No you can't because he did not win, and only the e-mails on a city complied computer, for as long as he stored them, are public. Understand now?

Anonymous said...

I respectfully disagree. If you send Hester a letter fully identifying yourself with your name and address, I think I can promise you that he will let you review the email on his publicly owned computer.

Anonymous said...

When did he get a public computer just for running for office and loosing? You must have rode on the short bus.

What about Aymond wasn't he a publicly employed attorney. Can I request to look at his computer files?

Anonymous said...

Has Lance ever had a computer?

Anonymous said...

He just used his parents and Vitter's

Anonymous said...

Yes! And if you make a public records request to Water Works #3 for all of Aymond's correspondence, you'll get it.

Pay particular attention to Aymond's billing records to WW#3. The fraud contained there is the prime reason he was fired as their attorney.

Anonymous said...

didn't you lose a job, because you kept running your mouth like you're posts?

Here's an idea. Pineville has a website that they use not to inform people but to promote the Mayor and his alderman. Why not have them use it for public good for a change. They could post ALLL of the emails on that site and allow the public to see what " transparent and open " administration they really have.

Anonymous said...
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
Anonymous said...

HA that will never happen . The website is a tool of Nathan Martin who controls what goes on and into the site and unlike most municipal websites does not inform people of anything except promoting them. I think the last time they put an agend or minutes on that site was about 8 or 9 months ago. Never puts a budget on there or anything for the public to review. I promise they will not allow their webite to be used for anything but selfserving political promotion. Like everything else they do. Image over substance is their sole goal. Because there is no substance. So do not count on them using their selfserving vehicle to inform anyone of what really goes on . But nice idea.

Anonymous said...

Sort of like how Hobbs controls the public access channel. Same thing. Pineville counts on people not caring enough to look into anything they do so you will continue to see one person on the Council acting for the Mayor and his illusion of leadership with the website and everything else they do. They control information just like Hobbs tries to do.

Anonymous said...

Didnt' Rick Farrar sue Randy Wiggins when he was State Rep to see his emails? And then when Farrar got elected got the law changed so representatives emails could not be subject to public records requests?

I have to agree with the comments about the stupidity of some folks. We have a case where someone wants something. Now as in most things in life it ain't free. But these folks have somehow convinced some of you to help them get rich, by not investing one thin dime, and you have fallen for it.

Either that, or those that have an interest in the case keep posting as anon, trying to convince us that it's for the public good that they are allowed to see these emails. BS!!

They have the right, if they are willing to be reasonable, c'mon 5 years worth of info? For God's sake, it took 5 years to compile the info, how long to sort it out do you think?

And they should be willing to pay for the employees time to sort through the info. That employee is paid for by me. I want them doing what they are paid for, not what some bitter citizen wants.

This whole thing boils down to a lawyer wanting to get paid. If Aymond can find any little thing to file suit about, he gets a check. Why should my taxes pay for his research. Most law firms take that out of the settlement

That's all that needs to be done here. Pay for the research, file the lawsuit, recoup your money when you win.

Only problem is that this is about revenge, and I'm not about to aid someone in that quest. Just as I wouldn't appreciate it, if I found myself on the other end of someone's bitter crusade.

Why do you think any citizen has been denied access? Gary Moreau asked for copies of Dupree's e-mails, paid the fee as allowed by law, and got his e-mails.
Lynton Hester asked to view the e-mails and Pineville set up a monitor so he look at any e-mail he wanted.
Aymond wants COPIES of ALL Dupree's e-mails for 5 YEARS! That's 13,000 e-mails! Trouble is that Aymond don't want to pay the fee, so he's trying to weasel out of it.
There is no harm in a legal request, and Pineville has responded as the law requires. But, the law also allows the city to charge for copies...Aymond wants to go outside the law and get them for free.

If he gets his way, the taxpayer foots the bill.

Anonymous said...

If he gets his way, the taxpayer foots the bill.

What a dumbass, Aymond asked if he could supply a computer disk or pay for one to get copies of the emails. So WTF is he asking for free? Instead of answering his question Pineville sued him. Seems like the courts, and not you Ball and Pineville plants will decide this.

No matter what lies Aymond tells about his past, his present racist mindset is displayed in this post copied from his website:

Pineville's Mayor, Clarence Fields, the incoming President of the Louisiana Municipal Association, and who has "Love" tattooed on the knuckles of one hand, and probably "Cleco" on the others, told the Town Talk that yesterday's City of Alexandria comparison of electricity rates was ""the most ridiculous comparisons that I can imagine". (See here). Perhaps Cleco's former token Negro got his G.E.D. assistant, Rich Dupree, to run the figures for him? Wow, perhaps our Mayor should give old Clarence the finger next time Clarence begs for us to spray his Skeeters or wants water from us when his electricity is cut off again?

Aymond is also incorrect concerning emergency water supply. It was the City of Pineville that supplied water to Rapides Regional when Rita came through and disrupted Alexandria's water supply.

Anonymous said...

No, Cleco supplies the power to the waterpumps for the city of alexandria. They did not think it was a priority to get those lines fixed. It was CLECO's fault the city did not have water.

Anonymous said...

Really?

So the next time a storm comes through and knocks out power, and I've chosen not to be prepared with candles, flashlights, batteries, matches, or a generator, then I can blame CLECO?

That kind of thinking is why we saw people dying in N.O.

Local, state, or federal govts. were not prepared. Neither was Alexandria.

Anonymous said...

Look you idiot, so what if Cleco supplied power to Alexandria's pumps?? Who cares??? That doesn't change the fact that Pineville strung firehoses across the damn river and supplied Rapides Regional with water. And it also don't change the fact that Alexandria was un-prepared, with no emergency generators to power the damn pumps. Third, Alexandria could have not supplied Pineville with water because THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY!!!

What a moron!

What a thought provoking posting by the reformed Greg Aymond!

Give Greg Aymond enough rope, and he would eventually hang himself (must have forgot how it was done 30-years ago). I'm sure he was proud of how he rose to the defense of Mayor Roy on the utility comparison, but he showed his true color (HATRED) by calling one of Mayor Roy's biggest supporters, a TOKEN NEGRO.

Who would have thought that Greg Aymond, the "Knight riding in on a White Horse" to save us from the evils of government, is actually a "Horse's Ass wearing a White Sheet". Mayor Jacque Roy must be proud to have Greg Aymond in his corner.

Some of you are apparently idoits, or all the same few who are either related to or fellow crooks with the City Councilmen. The US and Britian were allied with Russia against Germany, that doesn't mean that Britian and the US were pro Communist. Both Roy and Aymond believed that City Councilmen violated the Open Meetin law. Whether they did is the only issue. All this other crap is instigated by the guilty parities to try to divert attention from themselves. Even a ku kluxer or a Blank Panther can report a crime. The question is not who reported it but did the criminal commit it.

Anonymous said...

Funny thing about the way stuff works in the Newnited States of America. It don't make a tinkers dayum what Roy and Aymond think. Da Judge's toughts is what counts. So you have a newbie Mayor with an newbie City Attorney and being adopted by a racist blogger.

Before we convict everyone for every thing let the thing be investigated and a legal decision rendered. There has been nothing but accusations and innuendos published for months and nobody, other than a known racists, has done anything to legally resolve this issue.

We are supposed to be a Nation of Law. The Mayor is a Lawyer and the best he can do is be adopted by a former klansman, who has publically threatened folks, who has publically proclaimed he is carrying out a vendetta and who is knotted up with every government in CENLA.

My personal belief is that after the dust settles on a lot of things folks will find out key City employees are as dirty and as dumb as the Council is being made out to be. Before it is over with a lot of folks are going to regret this donnybrook.

Sec. 2-06. General powers and duties.
All powers of the city shall be vested in the council, except as otherwise provided by law or this charter, and the council shall provide for the exercise thereof and for the performance of all duties and obligations imposed on the city by law.

The Mayor and City Attorney are there to advise the Council not run the Council.

Sec. 3-07. Powers and duties of the mayor.
The mayor shall be the chief executive officer of the city. He shall have the following powers and duties:
(1) Appoint and suspend or remove for just cause all city employees and appointive administrative officers provided for by or under this charter, except as otherwise provided by law, this charter, civil service or other personnel rules adopted pursuant to this charter. He may authorize any administrative officer who is subject to his direction and supervision to exercise these powers with respect to subordinates in that officer's division, department, office or agency.
(2) Direct and supervise the administration of all divisions, departments, offices and agencies of the city except as otherwise provided by this charter or by law.
(3) See that all laws, provisions of this charter and acts of the council, subject to enforcement by him or by officers subject to his direction and supervision, are faithfully executed.
(4) Prepare and submit the annual budget and five (5) year capital program to the council.
(5) Submit to the council and make available to the public a complete report on the finances and administrative activities of the city as of the end of each fiscal year.
(6) Make such other reports as the council may reasonably request to enable the council to conduct its councilmanic function.
(7) Keep the council fully advised as to the financial condition and future needs of the city and make such recommendations to the council concerning the affairs of the city as he deems desirable.
(8) Perform such other duties as are specified in this charter or may be required by the council.

If you want action file a complaint against the Amos and Andy Show and let the legal venue take over. Running shit on a blog doesn't do anything.

Anonymous said...

The wheels are turning, even as you sleep. The facts are the facts as anyone with eyes can plainly see that the city council does indeed conduct its business outside the veiw of the public. It really does not matter what race you are whenever you are being drained of your green - money that is.
Can you honestly say that if your skin is dark or light that it makes a difference that you would want safe streets, reasonable utilities, good fire protection, and all of the other amenities that living in a community can afford?
I personally think and feel that all members of our community want a better standard of living for themselves while race baiting and divisive tactics are beginning to wear thin with everyone.
Those people that are trying to administer the poison of hate may soon find that they have absorbed it themselves and are doomed.
The sooner the better.

Anonymous said...

My problem is the question - is there definitive, presentable proof the Council conducts business in a non-public method?

If that cannot be proven all the rest is just misspeak. As an example, Hobbs is labeled as an ignorant fool that doesn't know the law. If he is so dumb did he convene a meeting and conduct a vote thus breaking the law or just ask individual councilmen, one on one, their opinion?

Before the big blow up who controlled what would and would not be shown on Channel 4. Where is the policy manual. Who is in charge of the thing. Inasmuch as the Council actually makes law for the City they can decide who runs the thing. Has this decision ever been made or did some department ursurp the responsibility to justify a poisition?

There is too much flotsam in the City that nothing cannot be traced to an actual ordnance.

An example, Tom Wells, the Police Jury's attorney presents to the entire Police Jury a request to take action. The Police Jury votes on the issue and the majority rules. It appears that the City Attorney Office just free spirits. I see nothing that says the City Attorney can do anything without Council approval.

Lawson tried to ask Johnson if he (Johnson) could take action on his own just phrased it improperly, i.e., "can you take a position?" The question should have been can you initiate legal action on behalf of the City without Council approval and I'll bet he can't but his Office is doing it.

Anonymous said...

Why do you people write in riddles? What dam legal actions did he file without permission. Name them so we can see if it is true. Either state facts, or I am smart enough to smell bullshit.

Anonymous said...

Your question is very simplistic for a complex situation. How many lawsuits is the City involved in? What has the Council been asked to do on each and every one. Ity would seem each suit should have been presented to the Council for direction - even if the direction was go do what you think best.

The Parish Attorney keeps the Jury informed on each item, requests the Jury's desires on each case and then goes and does it. Not so with the City.

Anonymous said...

Let me try and explain it this way - if the former City Attorney would have been aware of the Bill of Rights to the Constitution of the United States of American that silly ass vehicle insurance, license and inspection sticker ordnance would have never passed.

If there is a collection of unlicensed, vintage automobiles worth big bucks in Alexandria, say a display like at Lea's in Lecompte, that illegal ordnance would have allowed the city dumbasses to enter private property and confiscate the thing. That Ordnance alone placed the City in grave financial jeopardy and that is why the City was/is more than happy to make the folks happy.

Now wasn't that great advice for the City Attorney's office to give the Council. Willing to bet the City Attorney's office drafted the Ordnance. Passing the bar doesn't make you a lawyer.

Anonymous said...

Am I the only one who finds it rather amusing that the Alexandria City Council, now facing a possible investigation for not following the "open meetings" law, has abandoned Bridgette Brown and wants to hire Jock Scott to defend the council? If Bridgette Brown was such a great attorney that the council hired her as part of the legal team dealing with the Cleco lawsuit, why doesn't the council hire her to defend the council? Could it be that the council, facing possible malfeasance charges, wants a competent attorney? Rebecca Wells needs to come back to Alexandria and write another "novel" based on the shenanigans in our little burg!

Doesn't Trey Gist represent the City Council? Are they still planning on paying him? Is he being replaced, or is the city becoming the biggest employer of attorneys in the state?

Funniest thing I have seen in all my life: We Saw That and Greg Aymond are now trying to educate the Attorney General and his staff on how they should interpret the law.

Hey Aymond, Roy and WST you lost. Hey Aymond it isn't your first. Roy you keep listening to your City Attorney and the ity is going to lose a lot more and you gonna see your surplus disappear in court awarded damages.

It would behove the City Attorney's office to employ at least one competent attorney - looks like the Council has.

Anonymous said...

Spanky you gonna lose also. You and the rest are spinning what the charter says. Read it in simple english and understand it. Then oy and his City Attorney need to mend fences, try and salvage the City's exposure and get down to doing business for the citizens.

Bottom line - the Council governs the City, Roy just implements. Sorry Jacques if you thought you had stroke.

Man, to throw out unsubstantiated charges against a duly elected governmental body. How do you recover from that? Does it start with an apology? LOL! I can't wait.

And where's the mayoral asst. for PR in all this? He might not be worth what he's getting paid.

Anonymous said...

Serious question.

What is Aymond's won-loss ratio in realtion to lawsuits and complaints he's filed against govt. bodies?

Anonymous said...

It is one thing to talk shit. It is quite another to have the parties on public videotape and a letter to that effect. I have seen both and I would say let the cards fall. We will see who pops up with the joker.
Meanwhile, keep on throwing around the racist propaganda and make a list of what the current council is really responsible for doing.
If you would read further and actually know how the city works according to the charter, you would also know that the mayor submits a budget which is the blueprint for operations and capital outlays. The council has the option to approve or disapprove. They cannot restructure the budget. The mayor can if there is disagreement on passage.
Herein lies the rub. The council and the mayor need to be in agreement to have harmonious function of the city - but the council cannot didtate to the mayor and the mayor cannot administer without the council passing the budget. We are on go for this year since they have already approved the budget. Any further expenditures over what is budgeted may be proposed by ordinance of the council but are subject to veto by the mayor which is subject to overide by the council.
The point is that one side cannot steamroll the other, which is a good thing.
The city charter was drawn up to reflect change in our area and the makeup of the city council reflects the shifting demographics of our area, which is a good thing.
What is not a good thing is that the general public has failed to participate in the election process and we all can witness the result of apathy.
It is one thing to have no vision for intelligent growth. It is quite another to be power hungry for the personal profit that can be generated for ones self while holding public office.
Shall we delve into the dealings with Highway Materials and all of the speed bump materials that was purchased for stockpile(roughly a half a million dollars worth) and whose campaigns they contributed to?? I would say that the lack of maintenance of our streets has produced rough enough road surfaces to make placing speed bumps in the middle of a public thoroghfare seem even sillier. An even better question is " what the hell do we need sped bumps in the middle of the street for?
Has anyone noticed the practice of studying every issue has stopped? Could it be that we here have been blowing the whistle on diversion of public funds using studies as a vehicle? Mighty odd how intelligent they have gotten since that was brought up.
How about we call in the legislative auditor to reveiw the study practices and where the money went and what we got in return?
Yeah, it is old news, but would it be funny if the joker popped up from any of the past dealings to result in malfeasance charges?
You might want to tell your boys to ask Jock what the statute of limitations is on the various infractions that they know they are exposed to.
From where I sit, the boys look like they are beginning to sweat.

I don't think either side is playing on the up and up. Who knows Jock Scott may just be the person to bring everything out in the open and then we can all move on with getting things done in the City and stop arguing. They have to find common ground.

Anonymous said...

Unity is what I am talking about. I am not particularly interested in finding fault with the city council becaue all I want is for our city to function as it should to the benefit of all that live here. But they have got to understand that they are supposed to be leaders implementing the peoples will and not dictators.
Bear in mind that Myron Lawson and Roosevelt Johnson are Council-at-Large and have a responsibility to be sensitive to the needs and desires of the white community, folks that voted them in also. It is past time for people to be thinking in black versus white interests not only because of the times but because the divison only weakens all of us as individuals and as a community.

Anonymous said...

Well, it's real hard for the at-large to do when the newly elected, tantrum throwing mayor asks the very same citizens to launch an investigation of you.

Only to turn around and be quoted saying "he was pleased with the AG’s office’s response to the issue and never thought the matter warranted a suit being filed.

“The purpose of the public inquiry in this matter has been served. There is no need for a citizen suit or lawsuit from any governmental body,” Roy said, adding that to do so would be overkill.

“The time has come for us to put this issue behind us and move forward,” he added.

So are you now a dupe for wanting an investigation into something the mayor claims didn't warrant the overkill? Spanky you are really looking foolish following the lead of this mayor.

This is a total embarassment for the council. The attorney general's office has to drive up to Alexandria to "teach" them about the law they should be upholding. Obviously the attorney general believes they violated the law, but this is even worse than fining them. Now they get to be publicly "educated/chastised." I wonder when the attorney general's office has to come up to teach the council, will they have to air the classroom lesson on channel four? Oh the irony.

I have four questions.

1) The city has not hired Jock Scott to defend the council against the attorney general, yet he is still obviously giving them legal advice. The paper quotes Scott's advice to the council. If the law states the city attorney is the city council's lawyer and Jock Scott has not been hired, isn't it a breach of the charter for Scott to be giving the council legal advice?

2)The AG investigated the case and concluded there was a violation. They decided to slap the council on the wrist with an educational presentation. Why is Jock Scott wanting the council to grandstand to the attorney general?

3)Does Jock Scott remember his own statements on the council during the mayor's race?

4)What the hell is Jock Scott thinking?

Also, look at the August 21, 1979 issue and you'll find another picture of Aymond, dressed in his finest white sheets, attending a David Duke rally.

Back issues of the Town Talk also report that Aymond was arrested on the steps outside the Convention Hall during a Klan rally. Then Chief of Police Glenn Beard himself made the arrest.

History of the Klan type books state that once you join the Klan you're in for life. Comments made by Aymond himself on his own blog indicate that he continues to speak and think like a Klansman.

So, it looks like Aymond discovered early on that if you're a racist, you get news coverage. Since he got fired from WW #3 for, among other things, fraud, he has to do something to drum up business.

Repent and be saved!!

Several thoughts:

1. Just because Aymond says it doesn't make it so.

2. RoyBoy openly requested citizen rebellion against the Council and now states he never thought it was a big deal to start with.

3. RoyBoy needs better advisors then Lamar and Chuckie. He openly requested an uprising against the council and the only support he got was from a malcontent "ex" klansman. Aymond does not represent anyone but himself and Roy should hang his head in shame for being aligned with Aymond.

4. Spanky - live long enough. Your bull shit will be shown to be just that bull shit. Politicians from one jurisdiction, arena, level, don't dig around in other politicians backyard. Leaves there backyard available for being dug in.

5. Royboy needs to fire the entire City Attorney Office. It is eventually going to pit the Council against the Mayor in an all out war and the council is going to win.

6. Myron may be the stupid shit everyone bad mouthing him says he is but Myron was smart enough to include in his ordnance the word "investigation." Charter doesn't say how the Council does it just authorizes the council to do it. Never forget Myron is a skilled politician. I would bet on a skilled black politician over an "ex"klan lawyer any day.

7. When the Ordnance passes look out City Attorney Office. I would believe the brothers are just bidding their time to attack Royboy's house negro.

8. Royboy's house negro done well in terminating Laura dear. Her residue is going to cause great harm yet to come. Me thinketh her actions, as well as the actions of several City employees, put their personal assets at risk. When it comes to pass the City will not be able to support their actions unless the City desires to expend copious amounts of money.

Copied from WST's site:

"we've said it before and we'll say it again this mayor needs to figure out just what he stands for and to say what he means and mean what he says and stick to it!"

He can't. First he is a lawyer and secondly his forbearers were from Avoyelles Parish. Don't drink the water there. Birthplace of EWE remeber.

Why-0-why are you associating Spanky the Blogger with Lynton the Hester?

waterslide said...

Please keep associating Aymond with Roy. Please keep making us think that they are buddies. Please make us think that Roy literally called Aymond and told him to file a complaint. Please, please Please. I am almost to the point where I actually believe it. I think about 5 to 10 more times would do it. Can some anonymous person help me out.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if Hester is still sitting in Pineville clicking away at those emails?

I read somewhere that it would take 3 weeks for him to cover all the emails? Is his life really that meaningless that he has time to do this? With the so called intention of discovering his potential liability in a business that he surely carried insurance for?

You have to remember he did say he was a former mortgage broker. He never told us if he has a day job now - well at least other than caring for his and Gay's love child. He might have all day to do nothing except plow through Dupree's emails.

I think Lynton was looking for publicity for himself . Now that the cameras are gone and the reporter is gone I doubt he will be back. If he were serious about wanting to see what was in the emails he would have followed up and reported on what he found. This was definitely about Lynton making a name for Lynton. What name that is I leave up to you to decide.

Two thoughts:

1. How much are they paying you again?

2. Do you say things like "house negro" when you're buttering them up at CFS's bar?

Anonymous said...

No, actually while we drinking Budweiser we laugh and say things like: Them Honky MFers sure thought us nappy headed niggers were stupid.

Anonymous said...

My comments were in the TT but I would like to further add that I was only trying to pry the door a little wider for the next concerned citizen. I would say take the time to look for yourself. The accomodations are comfortable and the staff courteous. Make sure you put your request in writing first. I could care less about any publicity and did not want what I got. But, hey, when the sun shines - make hay.

Anonymous said...

So I take it

a) That we get no report

b) There was nothing important in the emails

c) You're not going back

Anonymous said...

Anybody know why Aymond refuses to allow desenting views on his blog? Is he scared of debate? Some of his posts are filled with conflicting information, however, how does someone discuss the issues with him when he censors disenting opinion?

Anonymous said...

A) you need to read for yourself
B)You should make your own judgements
C)I'll be back.

Anonymous said...

Hester you're a self promoting fraud. I take back the compliments I gave you when you first said you were going to go get the emails . You only got publicity for yourself. You would fit in good with the Pineville bunch. All smoke no fire.

Anonymous said...

Why dont you grow some balls and demand that they let you have a copy of the emails on disk JUST like the town talk suggested and then email it to those who request. You know why? Because you are too busy sucking ass with your new friedn Rich over in Pineville. What a disappointment you are no wonder you got your ass handed to you last time you ran for office.

waterslide. i don't think you see the big picture. pretermit the issue of jock scott advising the council via the town talk, with out even representing the council at this point. the posters are right. face the facts. roy AND aymond sound like cajun names to me. aymond was in the kkk ergo roy is a racist. moreover, i have pics of roy and aymond meeting in february in full kkk regalia. i am not puter literate but will try to to post the pics later. as an aside, aymond was wearing white before memorial day, and roy was appropriately dressed in a nice muted chalk striped grey. everyone is fully masked, but i am sure i can also see chuck behind them. i have pics of chuck on the grassy knoll in dallas. before you post some flippant mush-headed reply, let me ask you a simple question. why has there been no mention of a really nice waterslide by this administration?

Anonymous said...

A) How can we read for ourselves Lyton? Why don't you get copies and share with the public. Then you can be proud of yourself.

Anonymous said...

First of all, read the letter in which I not only asked to view but be allowed to copy. The copy request was denied and denied again in front of and to the Town Talk reporter that was at the initial veiwing.
Citizenship does require a little effort and maybe you should put forth some if you want information.
Do I have an obligation to spoon feed you? It is not one that I accepted and your insults only show how lazy you are.

Anonymous said...

Last week hailed as a hero - this week cursed for your effort - not that much glory in public service - huh Lynton.

Anonymous said...

Oh, well.

All the heat about Alexandria is over. Guess the mayor realizes how really one term he is. Maybe now we'll see some action on CLECO, the Bentley, and why the utility rates are so high.

And all the heat has died down in Pineville. Now that people realize how utterly nonsensical it was to ask to see 13,000+ emails. And those that promise to shed light, are now saying "go look for yourself."

And the sad thing about it was during this time of intense inspection, only 2,000 folks showed up to voice an opinion on funding govt.

Which means most folks don't care, and the ones that post on here demanding good govt. as anons are people like Aymond who have hidden motives.

C'est la vive

I think that Myron has proven himself to be the strategy master. He hired the whitest most partician front man he could find in Jock Scott and Jacques loses the white folks. Myron feels like the can continue to skate with this white guy out front. Remember that Jock has been in the big middle of the Cleco deal, the Randolph admin. and Brewer's campaign. He knows how to kick ass and look righteous.

Anonymous said...

It appears that he has been very successful too. Let me see. Did not Delores fabulously lose the mayors election while making the most foolish spectacle of herself and those that surrounded her? Proud moment, eh? We have all seen that Ned was inneffective in his last 5 years and Jock is trying to be a playa in the CLECO deal but can't quite wedge his way in.
OK
You know they say a mind can be a terrrible thing.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of the Cajun name Aymond does trace his lineage to Avoyelles. No one will ever know how Aymond's "mind" works. In the past he has done a large amount of genelogy(?) work on his family's lineage and done a pretty fine, professional job of it. He then turns around and ruins his professional career by his admited hatred for certain people and that he is seeking revenge. How much credibility does the AG's ofice give him when every other letter they receive is from him.

He then taints Royboy by taking advantage of Roy's request for citizen assistance in fighting the City Council. Aymond captilized on the publicity and Roybo lost credibility and respect.

Lastly, Myron is a master politician and the combination Royboy/Chuck Johnson do not have the political experience to fight them the way they are trying. In case we forget Jock Scott was/is a seasoned politician and a lawyer. Heads up legal confrontation between Jock And Chuck put your money on Jock.

Anonymous said...

Hmmm, Jock is such a great politician that he just lost the last race he ran.
All of your assertions become more ludicrous everytime you post.
Keep up the good work.

Anonymous said...

Jock is a nonpartisan ballbuster.

He saved Herbert Dixon's a** involving ethics charges. He'll do the same for the council, and make no enemies in the process.

Plus, the white council members have no choice but to admit they were never a part of an illegal meeting, which further solidifies Jock's case.

I have to say at this point, the wrong Jock ran for mayor.

Anonymous said...

Hmmmmm, again.
Jock is oft thought of as an opportunistic political being and I have not heard the legal community hold him in as high esteem as you.
But, as the cards fall, let us see who holds aces and who pulls the joker.

Anonymous said...

Ah, let us not forget that Jock was a shoe-in as the Republican in that race until Bush dropped him to his knees and cut a deal with Dem. Rodney Alexander, who minutes before the filing deadline, and after he had already filed for reelection as a Democrat, switched parties.

Anonymous said...

Do you always waffle when presented with facts?

Anonymous said...

Nah, I prefer pancakes.

But what the hell are you talking about?

Anonymous said...

Jock will make the council tow the line. However all will be in vain as Roy has turned into a little yappy dog. All bark and then runs when he has to take a stand.

Anonymous said...

If Jock Scott is so skilled, why did he lose elections in 1985, 1987, and 2004? He is political dynamite in the sense that every thing he seems to touch explodes.

Anonymous said...

In all those elections he fared quite well in Alexandria. He is royalty cut from the royal family as Albin and Brenner. Alexandria society is much more sensitive to who you are than what you are.

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately for Jock his dad killed much of his chances, but in 04, the natl Rep. party did him in, in 85 he was running against Gillis Long's ghost.

He was ultimately done in by his fathers inability to foresee the reality of forced desegregation.

But with desegregation quickly becoming a faded memory, his chances are picking up.

Anonymous said...

We are taking about Alexandria and Alexandria loves Jock Scott - that's a simple observable fact. Democrats love and republicans adore him. You don't want to duel with Jock in Alexandria. You are right. He is devine right royalty.

Hopefully Jacques will convert him to the good side.
