Once again the trough goes empty

Why do we allow our elected officials to do this to us? Maybe because not enough of us pay attention. The legislature (notice I did not use "our legislature") spends and spends. It would be great if they did so sensibly. What we need is infrastructure; repair, maintain, replace or new. We need a skilled workforce. We need an educated populace. We need jobs. We don't need to catch up with other states, we need to bypass them.

We have a chance to try a new group this coming election, let's give them a chance. If they fail, well, throw them out next election. If not Louisiana is doomed to loose it's population, it's businesses, and itself (coastline!).

Why is Glen Beard running and not one of his sons? They are younger and have more education? Is there only role in this election campaining for their father?

Spanky, you are absolutely right!! I had mentioned that the educated, informed voters would insure positive renewal of the taxes needed to move our fair city forward. Though only a small percentage voted, we succeeded. I wonder if Mr. "I have a doctorate" bothered to cast his "NO Brain Vote". Kudo's to all who voted to press on.

Well

Appears that we will get more of the same over the next 3 years. Jaq and Myron fighting over who the voters are supporting.

Did not Maxwell work for Vitter? If so, why not public statement on Vitter? What does he think of Vitter? We prayer warriors want to know.

I heard Lance speak once. He said he would not have entered the race without Vitter's full support. He said he had learned a great deal from Senator Vitter.

Anonymous said...

So what is the latest info on the Pineville Alderman Joe Bishops arrest? I have not seen anything in the newspaper or heard anything on the radio or Tv

Anonymous said...

Like the other dude said, your fascination with Maxwell is weird. I have to agree you're looking like a gayhound. Back off dude, or ask him for a date. There's nothing we can do for you here.

Whether I vote for him (which I prolly will - since he's the only repub in da race) will not be effected by your constantly evoking his name.

Also, like the other dude said there are others in the race that you're not saying nuthin bout, so it really must be a gay stalker thing with you!!

Remember, there were lots of folks on here dissing the tax. Look where that got them. Same thing with Maxwell, you're getting no traction here, just making yourself look bad.

And BTW, it's pretty easy to figure out who you are. On the main page there is a way to see who the last visitor was, your Domain Name, IP Address, operating System, the Browser you use, type of Monitor Resolution, time of Visit, Visit Length, and the web site you came here from, and the one you left from here to go to.

Cuz if I can find that info, I'm sure Maxwell's people can too.

Scary ain't it!

And how do you plan to get around the privacy laws which will prohibit you from obtaining the actual account holder of that I.S.P. address once you have found it. Will you get a court order for it? How bout it cuz?

--And how do you plan to get around the privacy laws which will prohibit you from obtaining the actual account holder of that I.S.P. address--

I think the poster is talking about using deductive reasoning. If a poster visits here from a domain assigned to a certain company, then you can "guess" who at that company would be interested in a particular topic. There are some Whois sites, and ways to ping a domain that will give you the "group" that an IP address has been assigned to.

Also, if the IP address in question goes several days without logging in, and its commom knowledge that a certain employee was sick, out of town, on vacation, in court, etc. then you can once again deduce who that might be.

And then there's the "rule out" method. If someone is seen out on the town, when a harsh comment is made, then you can rule that person out, and narrow it down to others that would be using the same company's domain.

It's just a matter of keeping track of the domains making comments, knowing the personalities involved and whether they have computer skills, and keeping your ears and eyes open to whats going on in as topics are discussed.

Sounds boring, but easily doable for someone with no life.

Yes for companies and insitutions that have registered domain names. For people on suddenlink, aol and etc... no.

Here's your answer, Monday, July 23, 2007 1:20:00 PM.

Joe Bishop has not been arrested, arraigned, detained or had any other legal action taken against him. The juvenile in question is Bishop’s daughter. Bishop had to forcefully remove her from a party at the home of Judge Ryland’s first wife. Apparently the ex-Ms. Ryland was serving alcohol to minors at the party. Bishop’s daughter got drunk and out of control, hence the removal by force. The ex-Ms. Ryland filed a complaint against Bishop to forestall Bishop from filing a complaint against her for getting his daughter drunk. Keep in mind that the ex-Ms Ryland has been in and out of re-hab, for alcohol abuse, several times. The ex-Ms Ryland’s complaint was kicked to the AG’s office because our DA is the ex-Ms Ryland’s personal attorney.
The postings on We Saw That and Aymond’s web site are dockets for the court. In other words, a schedule of things the court will consider on that particular day. In Bishop’s case, the item was bumped from the docket, something that happens all the time.
As of now, the AG’s office is investigating the complaint and will take the appropriate action based on the facts of their investigation.
Keep in mind that We Saw That and Aymond’s stock and trade is speculation, rumor, half-truth, and spin. Neither of them deal in fact, unless it fits with their personal agenda, something that rarely happens.

Anonymous said...

Actually, the assistant attorney general reviewed the case, found merit and probably criminal conduct, and formally filed charges by bill of information against Mr. Bishop. Now who is "adjusting" the truth?

Anonymous said...

To this stupid moron: Tuesday, July 24, 2007 8:13:00 AM

I read the post, and Just the Facts said... "As of now, the AG’s office is investigating the complaint and will take the appropriate action based on the facts of their investigation."

Where is the spin in his statement asshole? He said the AG's office will investigate and take appropriate action. Looks to me like they have...

And, looks to me like you're a completely brainless pinhead.

Anonymous said...

You are a liar and you are caught. I can understand how that would make you uncomfortable but why the anger? Perhaps you should refine your liar skills so that you do not lie about facts that are so easily checked on the public record. Just a suggestion.

And I may be a pinhead but I am clearly a hell-of-a lot smarter than you. I assume that this fact may generate the inappropriate anger.

Anonymous said...

To Tuesday, July 24, 2007 9:16:00 AM

I get angry every time some assbreath like you twists the truth. This guy, Just the facts NEVER said the AG's office didn't act on Bishop. He said they would investigate and act based on fact.
Maybe they have and maybe that haven't I don't know...but I know that you are claiming he lied, and he didn't.

That makes you an asshole liar, and I HATE a liar.

Apparently this posting was non-factual.

"Actually, the assistant attorney general reviewed the case, found merit and probably criminal conduct, and formally filed charges by bill of information against Mr. Bishop. Now who is "adjusting" the truth?"

Unless a lot went on in 40+ minutes the first posting was wrong, spin or designed to mislead.
Either that or the first poster needs to get up to date information sooner.

Wonder when the Bill of Information was filed?

Bill of Information filed on 7/19/07 means someone has already looked at the complaint and police report and determine there is sufficient information on Joe Bishop to have officially charged him and set his arraingment for 8/24/07.
Mr. Bishop will be given an opportunity to prove his innocence at a trial. The problem here is why wasn't Bishop reported in the newspaper or KALB like other criminals awaiting arrignment and trial?

I am always amazed at how easy it is to distract the public's attention from the central issue of whether or not Hobbs broke the open meetings law and interject all these other non-issues. WTF is Aymond is a member of al qaida. Hobbs either has to be a liar (letter to Roy) or a a lawbreaker with his illegal meetings. I am not sure that it really matters which.

I read this on the TT forum. I didn't know our once VP was so involved with communism.

Did you know that the environmentalist in chief has a very interesting history with communism?? Makes you wonder what really is at the heart of all his anti-industrial GW crusade???

1892 Julius Hammer joins the Socialist Labor Party.

1898 Armand Hammer born to Julius Hammer. Armand is named after the hammer and sickle, symbol of the Socialist movement.

1919 Julius Hammer founds the American Communist Party.

1956 Hammer purchases Occidental Petroleum, $120,000.

1961 J. Edgar Hoover memo: Hammer cannot be "pursued" because he is "protected" by Senator Al Gore Sr.

1973 Armand Hammer sells a zinc mine to the father of Al Gore, $160,000.

1973 Ten minutes after the above sale of land, Al Gore Sr. sells the zinc mine to his son, Al Gore, Jr., $140,000.

1985 Al Gore, Jr. leases the family zinc mine (for which they receive $20k/yr from Occidental) to Union Zinc.

1988 Occidental Petroleum, revenue: $20B, profit: $302M.

1995 At Vice President Al Gore's recommendation, Federal government sells Elk Hills oil reserves to Occidental Petroleum, $3.65B.

Gore is such a hypocrite. Didn't his wfie once campaign against the very same acts he invited to headline his concerts? Are all dems such frauds???

Can Roy screw up any more than he already has?

Hobbs has linked him in the public's eye to the KKK. How much support will he get next election from the black community?

Sorry folks, but our rookie mayor has solidified his one-term status. I'm convinced that the only reason he won't resign before then, is that the racist element in the city won't allow it.

Advice to CRoy, don't waste your money on qualifying. Your brother has topedoed any hope you ight have had.

Well, the Town Talks series on the sheriff's race was hilariously non-informative.

I've never met any of the three, but the questions I wanted to know were not there.

Robinson, do you think you can be an effective leader when the dept. knows of your physical aggression to a subordinate IN A WHEELCHAIR?

Slocum, did you reaaly need to lose weight to appeal to voters?

Wagner, c'mon do you reallly expect to be put into the top job after leaving law enforcement for a decade?

Just based on what I know (with no help from the Town Talk), Slocum wins in the primary

Anonymous said...

I don't know about your "Gary Brown" comment, but, I'm a white voter, and I think a KKK link looks terrible for our city.

Unknown said...

I am a white voter as well. I am seriously concerned as to what has happened to our community in the past few months. We are now more focused on race than at any other time than I can remember, well except for when a shooting occurred in the Sonja Quarters.

The in-fighting between the Mayor and the Council is driving a wedge not only between our governmental leaders but our community. As some have said we are headed back to the days of John K. Snyder where during his tenure a Councilman was actually called a monkey during a committee meeting. I pray cooler heads will prevail. I hope all ministers can bring a sense of calm and order to our community.

Our Mayor likes to quote Martin Luther King, he needs to learn to act a little more like him. He could use some diplomacy skills and learn to talk to people and with people and not "at" people. We know he is intelligent, but he needs to stop insulting those around him with his extensive vocabulary. The true sign of genius is one who can communicate with anyone - a blue collar worker and a PhD.

The Council needs to become less sensitive to their color more attune to the people they represent. Yes, our community color lines have shifted. But realize this, the only way up is through education and hard work. We have to make a difference in many areas of our community - that includes the black, white, red, brown, and yellow areas. We are falling behind fast in education and job skills. We have fallen behind in life skills and basic family support structure.

Ned Randolph accomplished many things during his term as Mayor, but the one thing he should be remembered for the most is uniting the City. He came in at a time when the City was on the brink of bankruptcy, racial tension was high and there was little hope. He brought us to a place where we can compete against other communities for companies like Union Tank, have a surplus in our budget, and begin to make a difference in many areas of our community. Not all problems were addressed, but he made strides in most of them. Instead of moving forward we are beginning to slide backward. We cannot allow this to happen or we will become a place no one wants to live.

Anonymous said...

does anyone know when and where the Vitter endorsement of Maxwell will be?

Anonymous said...

George, love ya man, but did you just wake up about thirty minutes ago? We have been talking about these issues for the past two years on this blog. The fact that someone has he courage to speak up is the amazing stride in my estimation.
Ned was being blackmailed into submission by council minions, that is why he was so quiet for nearly 5 years. Truth never hurt anyone, so now that you are awake, jostle your neighbors.

Unknown said...

No I haven't just woken up you moron. I have been here anonymously speaking out about the same things.

The racial divide is growing greater every day here - that is what my current post was about. That is my concern.

Ned helped pull the City together. The current administration and the council seem help bent on tearing this city to shreds. Do we want to become New Orleans? Do we want to be Monroe? Do we want to be Shreveport where not too long ago people picketed the Chamber because they didn't have any black staff members? I don't.

The Town Talk keeps the issue stirred up. The Mayor insults the citizens with his rhetoric. The Council continues to act they own the City. As far as I am concerned we can find someone to buy back the newspaper back from Gannett and get real reporting and through out all the politicians and start over - mayor and council. Maybe then we can go forward and start working on the real issues.

Anonymous said...

I am also a white voter.

I agree 100% with what has been said. There has to be an eledment of racism for the tide to have turned as much as it did with the election of the new mayor.

Without a real leader, our city is lost!

Anonymous said...

Wow, so much going on since I last read:

1) Gore's ties to communism
2) Roy & the KKK
3) Council cries racism
4) A pervert stalking a candidate for state rep
5) Someone already has the sheriffs race locked up

and now Foti cannot get a an indictment. Looks like he's gone too. La. is an exciting place. But so is Iraq. Sometimes excitement is not a good thing

Anonymous said...

George, calm down and no I am not a mo ron. We see the same events and facts but place them in different contexts. If you are truly stirred, then shake everyone's hand that you meet and ask them if they voted and if no why not. Gently remind them that for evil men to prevail is for all good men to do nothing.
There has always been a racial divide in Alexandria that is kind of like farting in church. If everyone is quiet for long enough, it will go away.
Not so with racism.
Even within families, difference in children produce varying relationships.
Now, why would people with greater diverse traits not have have difficulty?
I prefer to smile, confront, then defuse anger by stimulating that emotion. Once the angered party has vented and the smoke clears, then folks can find common ground.
Never talking about issues allows them to be nurtured to monstrous proportions with sometimes catastrophic consequences that have been driven by irrational emotions.
Emotions by their very nature are irrational, but drive every decision that we make.
De-fusing emotions by recognizing them and finding common ground for common goals is a path to successful race relations.
The fart in church approach prolongs the suffering.

Anonymous said...

Can I get an AMEN, brothers?

Anonymous said...

But I thought holding in the fart is what prolongs the suffering.

Boy, have I got a lot to learn about politics.

Unknown said...

Well Spanky what we have right now is a bunch of angry people. An angry Mayor - he's angry at the Council who seem to understand the charter makes them the governing authority - and he's angry at the Town Talk who can't seem to quote him correctly.

The Council is angry because the Mayor is trying to take away their power.

Bridgett is angry because she can't sit in on a case she refuses to sign a confidentiality agreement on.

The citizens are angry every time the open their utility bills.

Who's not angry? Joe D. Smith who made a mint when he sold the newspaper to Gannett.

Anonymous said...

Good, we just might have folks come together to yell at each other until they figure out that they won't get anywhere until they use some reason and diplomacy.
Getting off dead-center is the first step.

Is the black bold type a computer @ your place of employment or some other physically different computer?

Are you the "real" "Spanky" in blue bold print, or are you an identity thief?

Are you a "shit-stirrer" attempting to circumvent/distort or otherwise skew/manipulate the thoughts of others?

This is not an attempt to stir shit, just maintain some sembalence of credibility on/for this blog... never know when CFS or Hobbs is gonna go to reading again and get it right or not.

according to mr. hobbs, anyone that has any doubts or reservations about his position on any topic is automatically a racist and only doing it because mr. hobbs is black. "you can't question me, i'm black!" that's a sad state of affairs for an elected official.

Anonymous said...

You are blaming your TV set for what David Letterman says. Hobbs is a functional moron who can't form a cogent sentence. He is Myron's lightning rod and is way to stupid to know it. He is doing Myron and Bridget's bidding.

I agree with the Town Talk editorial in that, if you don't share Hobb's stance, you have a duty to openly and vocally criticize it.

Thanks to the Linton guy who has the guts to exersize his rights as a citizen and look at the Pineville emails. I don't know who you are buddy but I sure respect you .

Aw, come on. I think you know who this Linton guy is. I think this is a form of masturbation.

I think it a joke that someone asking for a public record becomes NEWS because of the obstructionist at Pineville City hall. I am glad that people are asking questions and exersizing the rights the law gives us. I do not know who the man is but applaud him.

I thought if you were cited for domestic violence you automatically lost the right to posses any firearms and notification was sent to the state and ATF. It would appear that the court didn't follow the law in his case.

2 domestic violence charges and this abuse charge: a awful lot of smoke for there to be no fire.

I have posted the following reply on the Town Talk article that was written in today's paper.

I have made a request to view specified e-mails that have drawn much attention in Pineville as a citizen using certified return receipt mail with a phone number enclosed. At the time of this posting, I have had no response except the article in todays Town Talk, which I find highly unusual and suspect behavior.
The first question that was asked by Karina Donica was" what do you want the e-mails for?" to which my reply was that I was returning the call out of courtesy and that I was preparing dinner for family and would like to conduct the interview on the following day. She informed me that the story would run and that she understood.
What is glaringly obvious is that he subject matter must be highly radioactive for there to be such a high level of interest in a request made by a humble citizen.
Secondly, if I was being properly informed of governmental developments by our local media, I would not be compelled to investigate for myself.
Thirdly, can any and all citizens expect the same "public outing" if they make a similar request?
Inquiring minds want to know.

I remembered Roy's speech on Martin Luther King Day, so yesterday I requested a copy of it.

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. ADDRESS
Jacques M. Roy,
Citizens of Alexandria
Alexandria Convention Hall
January 15, 2007

Good afternoon fellow citizens, public officials, and visitors to our region. Good afternoon Mayor Fields. I am honored to be included in your memorialization services today—regarding a man who has influenced so many of us, including me, as a lawyer and now as a person new to public life.

On August 28, 1963, almost a quarter of a million people gathered between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial to peacefully demonstrate. It was there one of the most powerful, quoted, and remembered speeches in American life was given.

I have stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial several times in my life. My first time was a moment in my life which perhaps altered its course, altered my desire to serve silently in my work and effect change agency one case at a time.

I believe we are commanded to implement a model for inclusiveness in our City, and the Administration and City Council are committed to bring you diversity in action, a renewal of smart, community-based planning for our City which includes consideration of the needs and ideas of all citizens, not just a few, and I am personally committed, as is my team and our Council, to show those who refuse to recognize the moral necessity of our shared vision for action, inspired by the Reverend Doctor, to recognize the absolute necessity for it based on economic grounds—that is the vision we talked about at the inaugural event of proving diversity works; inclusiveness makes money; community-based planning positively affects cities.

No, Reverend Doctor, there is a new deposit in the bank of justice. The bank of justice is not bankrupt, Reverend Dr. King, and we will be together as a community to ensure the promissory note known as the Declaration of Independence, in your words, is not a check which comes back marked insufficient funds, but one delivering the funds of economic promise, justice, and inclusivity owed to all citizens. Echoing the Reverend Doctor, NOW IS the time for our city to move forward, not later influenced by the “the tranquilizing drug of gradualism.”

In my life, I never drank from the cup of bitterness and hatred, of which King warned all folks. King spoke of “soul force” as opposed to physical force or violence.

In the most influential writing of the Reverend Doctor King for me, the “Letter from Birmingham City Jail,” King wrote one of the most profound statements of justice for a young lawyer to live by, to keep close in heart—“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.”

This metaphor can find no truer an application than Alexandria, right now. We must all be careful to avoid the twin destroyers of progress: complacency and fear.

Complacency is the negative force which allows people to sit back and do nothing, to be disengaged from the community and avoid making things better. Make a promise to yourselves to be engaged in Alexandria, to meet new people, to meet new folks from different walks of life, to break bread with those folks, and to create a long-term relationship with them.
The other destroyer, fear, is even worse. It is mostly a reaction to the unknown, and it works together with complacency to allow us to sit back and let fear control us because we do not want to do the work—to do the heavy lifting.

We must not let fear take over, and we must arm ourselves with education—culturally, academically, and spiritually.

We must not have the fear which disallows us to consider new opinions and new models about how working together can be beneficial to our city.

On a beautiful sunny day in the latter part of my recent campaign for office, I was walking with a friend of mine who serves on our police jury, and we were discussing what the fruits of desegregation hold for us. With all of my study and indeed interest in that particular subject in law, it was my friend who reminded me that it is no better stated than that children were now growing up together and having long term relationships based on trust.

This is the quintessence of the “I Have a Dream” speech which longs for the day that all of our children would walk hand in hand and be schooled together. The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr., knew the power of the classroom. He is perhaps one of the greatest architects of “smart growth” and how to create a sustainable community, along with what quality of life really means, as any person you will ever read about in history.

His plan, in that one speech, for how America should be is a template that can be superimposed on life anywhere and make things better.

On that sunny day walking down Willow Glen, I realized how much I was going to benefit from the hard work done by civil rights leaders many years before my time and in most cases before I was born. The promise of what happened with what lawyers call de jure or in the law, is now finding its fruition in the minds and hearts of men.

I told the students at LSU that “there is a new consensus building: one born of changes in law that forced us all to work and study and matriculate together which now makes it so our hearts and minds are being changed.”

I said, “I am proud to be part of the generation which will reap the harvest of desegregation and its promise of a shared vision for America. It will save our nation and the South, and locally, we can be a powerful example for progressive change.”

The admonition gleaned from the Reverend Doctor and now a message I include in almost every speech I give is it is time to get on board, or you may be left behind.

Alexandria, Pineville, and our region, be inclusive; have no intolerance for others except for those who are intolerant, and even then, listen. You might learn something, even if it is simply what not to do—and to guard against the venom spewed by those who want to divide.

As a look out from this stage, I am excited to be a part of public life, now. I am excited to benefit from those of you who built a foundation for change, created change agency in others, and still cultivate the desire to improve through change new disciples of the promise shared with us by Dr. King. I am one of those people, and I have been since I was old enough to understand, at least in part, the meaning of his life.

As we discussed at the recent inaugural events, we must overcome the chains of fear that bind our minds and create hatred, racism, and suspicion. We must work together everyday, side by side. We must all make sure that we do not let fear translate into complacency and suspicion, which paralyze mankind with poisonous indecision and hatred.

Thank you, God bless you, God bless the struggle for equality and justice, and God bless our City and region.

Speeches are easy to make. Remember "read my lips" and "I did not have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky" and "I won't have an official position in the Roy administration" and the WMD speech by Colin Powell to the UN?

Anonymous said...

I agree. Speeches are easy to make, but people can tell when you're speaking from the heart and when you're faking it. Thank you for pasting that speech. It is obvious Roy was speaking from his heart.

One comment,

Yes, if you make a public records request, then you and your request is now a matter of public record.

Ya cant have it both ways.

I think we need more people like Linton who is willing to challange the obstructions of the Government.

Anonymous said...

Lynton was a candidate for city council several years back and the voters shat upon him. As a city we abhore competent representation. We proved that again this last election. We could have replaced Hobbs with an honest well-educated professional. But nooooo

Anonymous said...

well there is an election next year and if someone like him is willing to run then i am certainly willing to support them.

Anonymous said...

Linton, will you share with us what you find in the emails? Be make a list of those you want and get them on a disk

Anonymous said...

OK, now I'm curious. A man that ran for Alex. city council wants the emails from a Pineville city employee??

And that somehow makes what sense?? Do I need to request Mayor Nagins emails, because of all the trouble I have read about in N.O.? Hell no. Why should I care?

That's the kind of crap that gives conspiracy kooks their ammo. Is there not one good citizen of Pineville concerned about the email situation? If, not then, drop it!

Just like the Aymond thing with the COA, if the council meeting was so damn important, was there not a non-KKK citizen willing to file a complaint against BLACK elected officials?

Anonymous said...

I hereby formally announce the candidacy of Lynton Hester for the at large seat currently abused by Rosevelt forked-tongue Johnson. Now, if we talk him into this, we gotta get off our asses and make him win.

Anonymous said...

A I posted on the town talk site;

Not that it is any of yours, but the fact that I was a state licensed mortgage broker that lent money state-wide for the purchase of homes and some of those homes were in Pineville and there may be some issues that affect the properties and possible liabilities that I may be held responsible for that could become sizable financial responsibilities on my part, that could make it my business.

Lynton Hester

Anonymous said...

I tend to agree. It's similar to what some say about Iraq. They want our troops out because it's none of our business. Funny thing is, some of the same people now want someone else to do the dirty work in Alexandria and Pineville, rather than stepping up themselves.

Can't play both sides against the middle. Either we need be involved in Iraq, or non-citizens need to butt out of either city's business.

Anonymous said...

Perhaps you should concentrate on the legal breaches rather than the complainers. If they did nothing wrong then the Pope couldn't derail them but if they broke the law, who gives a shit who files the complaint. I would feel better about your rant if I thought for one second that you had even a vague understanding of the problem.

Anonymous said...

You used the term "was." What time frame did those loans to homes within the city limits occur? It's my lawyerly nature to ask such questions.

And did you limit your request to the emails for the time you lent money for these homes, or do you want all emails regardless of how you would be personally affected?

Because you would could only bring cause for any city action during a specific time that you financially at risk.

Anonymous said...

What perverted logic. "why should I care if Nixon burglarizes some DC office building?"

Anonymous said...

Well let me say this, Thursday, July 26, 2007 6:49:00 AM, Bishops daughter was at teenage party at the home of a rather prominent woman. Bishops daughter, along with several other teens, were served alcohol, by this woman, in her home. The teens became drunk and were in the street outside her home creating a disturbance. I live on this street and saw the ruckus the teens were making. Bishop arrived to take his daughter home. Because she was drunk and out of control, Bishop had to forcefully place her in the car.

This whole incident was a dead issue until Jim “Fireworks” Smith, Bishop’s opponent in the PJ race, began to pressure Jam Downs to do something with the complaint.

Downs recused himself because he is this woman’s personal attorney, and kicked the whole thing to the AG’s office. The rest is history.

Look at the dates on the documents.
1) Incident took place in March
2) Complaints files soon after
3) Complaint sits on DA’s desk until last month
4) Moves to the AG’s office after Bishop’s opponent in the Police Jury race, Jim Smith, begins to put pressure on the DA
5) AG investigates and returns a “Bill of Information” on Bishop

Anonymous said...

dear lawyerly:
what if the correspondence occurred before or after the exposure period? You must be a Southern grad.

Anonymous said...

Oh you were the one that filed charges against Nixon's cronies? And I thoought all along it was local officials.

You have just proven what a dumbass you are. There is a HUGE gap between interest and action. AND YOU ARE NOW A PROVEN IDIOT. But that's OK because you're just an anon idiot, but an idiot no less.

Anonymous said...

No mayor Roy is the Southern grad, I was at LSU during that time.

Anonymous said...

If you really are an attorney, you are obviously not a very good one because you would immediately understand that mortgage loans are written for up to forty years while thirty is most common. In the event of default and subsequent issues being discovered with the property condition, I could have exposure, even as a broker, as it was written in most of my broker agreements with lenders I dealt with.

Anonymous said...

There is a HUGE gap between interest and action.

and it would appear that you are all interest and no action = mouth grande

Anonymous said...

I was at LSU during that time.

Music major, no doubt.

Anonymous said...

That is why I asked for the dates of your actual sales, because any correspondence prior to your involvement would mean nothing to you.

So I ask again, what was the time frame of your involvement, in case someone wanted to do as you have done and verify the dates with public parish records.

Anonymous said...

You obviously haven't heard me sing!

Anonymous said...

Lawyerly apparently does not comprehend that you are entitled to those public documents by law, regardless of who you are or why you want them. go jaguars

Anonymous said...

OK, I am going to draw a picture for you. I may have exposure for at least another 29 years. You do the math.

Anonymous said...

I understand FULLY that he is entitled, my original post asked WHY DOES HE CARE?

If it is such a TERRIBLE violation of public trust, shouldn't someone from within the city be the one that asks for the records? They have the most at stake.

My reasoning is this. Do not some folks get pissed when Sharpton or Jackson show up on the scene when an "event" occurs that has nothing to do with them other than the fact that they are "interested?"

How is this any difference than a former KKKer to be asking for records from the city ran by a black mayor or filing complaints against a black led council.

Is not what's good for the goose also be good for the gander?

Anonymous said...

LANDSLIDE LYNTON FOR CITY COUNCIL

Anonymous said...

and I say if you are looking for a good "goose" you might contact the Maxwell hdq.

Anonymous said...

You said "was"

Did you sell your interest? And through the sell of your interest, would the purchaser not have agreed to accept the risk?

And surely you carried brokers insurance, which in my experience claims do occur, but are extremely rare. Your insurance should have covered you for errors in closing services performed; failure to obtain or maintain obligatory hazard insurance; errors in mortgage servicing; failure to properly obtain an appraisal

So I'm not sure what Dupree could have said in an email that would leave you at risk.

Anonymous said...

I don't want to get involved in this fight; but I agree that I hate it when Jesse and Al show up where they have no business.

Anonymous said...

I LOVE the idea that you can't ask to view public documents unless you live in the city you request those public documents from.....

I REALLY LOVE the idea that you have to explain to everyone WHY you want to view public documents....

Anonymous said...

me, I liked Groucho and Harpo better -

Anonymous said...

Karl,

I take it that you're a big fan of the Sharpton/Jackson road show?

Everyone knows Aymond is out for revenge. Folks are just curious as to why anyone else would get involved?

After all, if you want to publicly ask for public records, the you too become part of the public scrutiny. Isn't that what you are expecting from Dupree, openess?

Anonymous said...

I LOVE the idea that you can't ask to view public documents unless you live in the city you request those public documents from.....

Try asking for public records from LA, NY, Orlando, etc. and see what response you get. Share with everyone your results.

Wait, I'll save you the trouble:

"In addition to the copying and postage fees, a special service charge will apply when the time it takes staff to respond to the public records request exceeds one hour. Staff time will be based on prorated hourly salary rates. Special service charges are intended to cover all personnel costs incurred in responding to a public records request."

Can I view documents at the Authority’s office?

"Yes, in lieu of copied information being mailed or picked up, it may be inspected by any person desiring to do so, at any reasonable time, under reasonable conditions, at the Authority’s administrative office at 525 S. Magnolia Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32801. Special service charges, described above, will apply to on-site document viewing."

Now how s Pineville asking for anything different?

Anonymous said...

The public records law allows any citizen of La. to get public records from any public agency in the state. No reason is required, and they can get copies even if they want to use them them wipe their ass with. If some of you don't like it, take it up with the Legislature.
As far as Aymond's 3 month KKK involvement 30 yrs ago. is once a criminal always a criminal too. So no convicted criminal should be released from jail and Marcshall is still a gunrunner?

Anonymous said...

"Try asking for public records from LA, NY, Orlando, etc."

Why would I do that? I don't live those areas...

I LIVE IN LOUISIANA.

La. law prevails......

Is total BS. By BROKERING a mortgage, hester incurs NO LIABILITY as long as he has a complete title search done.

This liability crap is a smoke screen. Hester is beer drinking buddies with "Firebug" Moreau, Pineville's ex fire chief who already got SOME of the e-mails. "Firebug" is also one of Aymond's "clients."

This is nothing more than another attempt at getting Aymond access to 13,000 e-mails without paying for them.

Oh, and Hester??? Tell old "Firebug" that next time he gets drunk and pick a fight with another fire chief from a neighboring city, I,m not going to break it up. I'm going to let him get his a** beat.

How do you ask folks to get out and vote, when you can't even manage to do the same?

Stupid move.

Anonymous said...

I know that there are those of you that feel that since I am from Alexandria, the e-mails that I requested to be viewed were none of my business. So be it. But, they are your business and I dare say that if you folks from Pineville make a similar request that you will at least get no answer, just as I did - which is not a dissappointment or a surprise. But I, living on this side of the river, cannot be intimidated or messed around by your city government as you can.

Lynton O. Hester III

I don't think its such a stupid move. Cheif Beard opposed the tax and so did a lot of us. I guess you are pretty happy with the way the that councilman hobbs is acting. I guess Maxwell was for the tax. Not me.

So Lynton, are you going to let them thumb their nose at you ? Thats what Pneville counts upon.
