"and so the end is near, and now we face the final curtain ..."

Twenty-four hours left to the first round. Who will be the two? Hopefully the terminally embittered will find solice and stop carrying on as the hopelessly clueless. This blog was started as an exchange of important information and ideas. What we have wound up with is an anonymous way to insult your neighbor. Beam me up Scotty ....

Let us pray that Spanky goes forward with his plans to sue key council members. The discovery is always the best part. I hope these depostions are made truly public instead of entrusting them to Gunn at the Town Talk who appears to sit on them for elevation.

Anonymous said...

Filing suit for removal is not good strategy at this time because all of the members returned to their seats. Replacement of individual members would be by the council, so you can see that would be a fruitless proposition. Even if CFS and Roosevelt were to go,there are still 4 block votes that would be a majority. It is time to devise another strategy.

Anonymous said...

Spanky, if you are trying to cure a political coelition then you may be right but if these guys are about personal survival and if you can get to Lawson the suit would work fine. Otherwise, the only strategy is to block channel 4 on our TV sets

Excuse me calling the General election the primary. Guess I am used to following the politics of "normal" states that elect politicians instead of buying them.

Anonymous said...

Do you think that the amateurs: Sams, Slatkin, Lampert, White, or Hickman, will ever interrupt their lives or professional careers again to try to contribute thru public service? I'm really curious because these were all smart educated committed candidates with nothing to gain. Have any of them commented on their feelings or plans for future involvement? I think the council elections are really discouraging to decent people and potential quality candidates.

Anonymous said...

The task before us now is to engage the process and make sure procedures that are incorporated in the charter are followed. When an offense is committed that rised to the level of removal, then it must be acted upon. Today, the results of the election would deny, for the short term, any reasonable person in the abscence of an egregious violation the ability to legitimately challenge the council. What will be required is the action of concerned citizens to call attention to any misdeeds and poor judgements to the attention of our fellow citizens, although 55% are unwilling to participate in the process. The choice is clear, can you personally hold out until the pain threshhold becomes intolerable the rest of the uninvolved population or do you move on.

Anonymous said...

I am advised by someone who is advised that there are no real problems with the voting in District 4 or the city as a whole and the only difficulty that arose was from stupid negligent uninformed uncaring don't-give-a-shit voters.

This manifestation of true public service and human sensitivity came from your Registrar of Voters Office. We must remember her efficiency and warmth.

Anonymous said...

Warm - nah. Personable - Nah. Shit stacked tight - YES. Explained to the Council hired Baton Rouge lawyer how it is and how it is gonna be - YES. If Jonell be a male her gonads would not fit in a five gallon bucket.

You go girl.

Anonymous said...

lol jo jo look for councilman johnson or someone to file suit and give the registrar of voters office a good airing out.

according to this kalb vid the registrar of voters attitude is like you have shown but the registrars own poll commissioner at rugg said that no legal notice was given and the off camera voter who said that she had voted at rugg within the past six years would show even more election irregularities.

Anonymous said...

We need a new post coital thread for election and runoff issues.

They keep screwing with Mz Wilson and she gonna open up a can of whup ass on em.

Have you ever noticed that you don't have to go through security to get to Jo Jo's office. My girl can take care of herself. Hunk a hunk a burnen love.

Quickly and with no discussion, the Alexandria City Council on Thursday nominated and passed 6-0 the appointment of local merchant Harry Silver to fill the unexpired term of former District 4 Councilman Rick Ranson.

Silver, 83, owner of Weiss & Goldring and long a name in civic causes, said he wants "to see what's on the (council's) plate" before he spells out what he wants to accomplish.

Silver will be sworn in at the regular council meeting, which begins at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

"I happen to be in love with the city of Alexandria," Silver said after Thursday's vote.

Silver would not say if he'll run in next fall's regular election.

"I think it's premature" to discuss a run next year, he said. "I haven't even been sworn in yet."

However, two councilmen said after the Thursday meeting that Silver has pledged not to run for election next year.

"I was looking for somebody who wasn't running" next year, said council President Charles F. Smith Jr.

At-large Councilman Myron Lawson confirmed Silver's pledge and said, "We wanted someone who would bring some flavor (to the council) and also someone who would not run."

Both council members also said the vote was not a done deal before the meeting.

"This was no preconceived, slotted thing," Lawson said.

Of the three or more names of possible replacements floated since Ranson announced he would resign, only Silver was in council chambers for Thursday's vote.

Lawyer Marc Lampert, who actively lobbied for the position after two neighborhood groups endorsed him, didn't attend the meeting. He said he believes the council's decision was made before the meeting started.

"Harry Silver has never been the issue to me," Lampert said. "But why do you blow off the wishes of a significant portion of the community?"

When Ranson announced he would resign, he asked the council to consider neighborhood associations' wishes on who would replace him.

The Garden District Neighborhood Foundation and the Wedgewood Downs/Memorial Neighborhood Watch group endorsed Lampert, who said he'd never commit to not running next fall.

Suzie Butler, with the Wedgewood group, said "it's real unfortunate" Lampert wasn't chosen, but "we will have the opportunity to run someone in 11 months."

Smith and Lawson said they preferred a fresh election next year, and with no incumbent to run in District 4, new candidates would not have an uphill fight battling someone with political name recognition.

They lauded Silver's business acumen, adaptability and history.

"He'll bring in not only the history of Central Louisiana ... he is one who did not sleep through the revolution" of computer technology and clothing changes, Lawson said. "I think he's an honorable man."

Silver also brings in a Rolodex of business connections, a commodity needed to pull more business-minded talent into Alexandria and its government, Smith said.

"We have too much talent out there in (the) business" community, Smith said.

Though there was no council discussion before the vote, there were plenty of accolades for Silver afterward.

"He has a proven record of working with people in this town," said Ben Johnson of the Alexandria Human Relations Commission.

Who be the SOB messen with JoJo. I can't stand nobody messen with my hot babe. She is one hot momma.

Dayum I love a strong forceful woman.

You big goons. Let's see, you go to your normal place to vote, you are told by the comissioner at the polls that your name is on the books at another voting place and you are instructed to go there and vote.

Interview of Rugg voter:

"Holy crap, You mean I have to drive 4 blocks over to Bolton and vote. My rights have been violated. How do I vote at Bolton, isn't it different. I am scared of new places. Where do you park at Bolton? Do you have my driver's license so I can remember what my name is? My fingers smell like a butthole. I think I am a huge dumbass. I need to complain about the registrar of voters."

Anonymous said...

why are you trying to shift the blame onto the voter when the problem was with the registrar? that vid clearly shows ms wilson caught in a lie. not just one but two of her own poll commissioners plus an off camera voter dispute ms wilsons words. this needs to be followed up on and investigated.

Anonymous said...

I am having trouble with the big deal about having to go to another polling place.... right down the street. Should Ms. Wilson be blamed for people who do not want to get back in their car and drive to Bolton. Obviously that would screw up their whole day.

Anonymous said...

Poll Commisioner - are those the senior citizens that work some 16 hours are so for little or nothing other than donuts checking your drivers license and initialing the book.

Now I will bet these people are right there on the leading edge of what is happening in Jo Jo's office. I would not heap to much crap on the Registrar's Office - she runs a tight ship. You might not like her for many reasons but it will be hard to catch her negligent.

I will bet the folks that showed up at the wrong place did receive new voter registration cards and, upon realizing it was not a government check, threw it away.

Anonymous said...

thats not the issue. the issue is why were the precints switched around on these voters with no legal notice given. dont you think that its important that our government be ran efficently and within the law?

Anonymous said...

And you know that as a fact that the voters were switch around without notice. Is this knowledge based upon some senior citizens utterances and malcontents or factual evidence?

Anonymous said...

ah, so now its stupid voters and alzheimer afflicted poll commissioners. sure some people could have been mistaken but not 150 - 200 people. c'mon who you take us for boo boo the fool?

Anonymous said...

Glad you finally gave it a name - Boo Boo.

Anonymous said...

lol :P

Anonymous said...

Oh, yes. You are correct. The voters were really not sent any notice. KALB and that unnamed voter said so. What else does the gospel acording to KALB say? Please, do not believe everything that is said or printed.

Now, I want everyone to go and find their voter registration card. If you cannot find it, then I am sure the registrar of voters screwed up.

Anonymous said...

You can still vote for your choice for Mayor on the Town Talk web site - not just the two but all candidates.

If a voter feels he/she was denied an opportunity to participate in voting for the candidate of their choice they can either:

Complain to the Justice Department rather than to the camera and Boo Boo or

Vote on the Town Talk web site.

Anonymous said...

Dayum Joanel I found mine. Son of a gun it was in my billfold along with driver's license, social security card, medical insurance card and all the rest of the dayum important documents one needs to function in this society.

Anonymous said...

the poll commissioners at rugg made over 100 telephone calls according to the kalb vid. so what you do is interview the poll commissioners to get all the names that they can remember calling over to bolton for. then you get the previous voting books and look to see if any voted at rugg in the past 6 years. that would prove it.

Anonymous said...

Amazing this card was issued September 30, 2002. 4 years old and I still have it. And it says "IMPORTANT: RETAIN FOR VOTING PURPOSES."

Now Joanell why in the hell did you have to do yhour job and send me this card?

Had you not I could be like the malcontents, illeterates and bitchers and appeared on KALB. KALB that bastion of fact.

Somebody can go to a judge but it won't do any good. Judge is not gonna throw out the results over people to lazy to save a notice and/or to figure out where to vote. It usually takes way more than that.

true - thats why there needs to be an investigation.

Anonymous said...

wesawthat,

I am surprised at your shit sturring. You really had some good stuff before this. Seriously.

Anonymous said...

voting is a corner stone of our society. it should be shown that our system here in rapides has integrity. besides we wouldnt worry if we were you with regards to any shit-stirrin cos this will all be swept under and rug and covered up as usual. so no worries.

Anonymous said...

Boo Boo who do you recommend to investigate this matter - Sanders, Brigette, Provosty firm, Joe Fuller's wife, Myron? Lordy if Mr Berry was still here him and his protegee Mr. Larvadayum could team up.

Anonymous said...

we guess it would fall under the sheriff/district attorney to investigate. thats why we say that it will be swept under the rug and covered up.

Anonymous said...

To here it tis again. Isn't it funny how the council appointed Silver because he would not run. CFS did not want an incumbent to run. Funny how time dulls memories.

Anonymous said...

Well it's damn sure somebody's fault. Let me look at one of the official Registrar of Voter maps that I picked up at the Exxon station and figure this out.

Anonymous said...

Ok time to stop doubting Jo Jo. She is well qualified. I am told she spent years "under" the right Rev. B. G. Dyess. He personally "boned" her up on erection law.

Anonymous said...

I live in district 4-- we got our new voter reg. card with a change in polling place about 3 or 4 years ago!! People just do not pay attention- and then want to blame someone else. And how sad they would not go a couple of blocks out of their way to perform their duty and right to vote!

Anonymous said...

CFS said that "de team is tugetha agin" on de counsul and we muss muve "fawwahd". He barely finished ahead of Red. I hope they make Chuck council president.

Anonymous said...

This just in...an anonymous source at the court house tells me that the Sheriff's Department (read: Slocum) made an arrest and confiscated weapons that should have never been taken, and now has to return them. For futher info, check the civil dockets for today. Or perhaps, do a search about Club Retro, you know the site of a major drug and weapons bust earlier this year. Looks like not all of the info that was reported was actually factual. Looks like the sheriff's dept made some arrests improperly, and had to return some seized weapons. Wonder how much else was mis-reported?? Wonder if any was true??

Anonymous said...

Wonder if any of this will see the light of day prior to the sheriff's race next year??

video: Brewer, Roy and Johnson Interviews Election Night
kalb snip
If you watched the coverage on News Channel 5 you know that up until the very last minute it looked as if Mr. Johnson may be in the runoff with Mr. Roy. There are 17 votes that separate Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Brewer.
The official vote count will be in Tuesday, October 3rd and there are no changes expected unless the Johnson camp can prove voter fraud.
What do you think?
I have posted all of the interviews in this latest Video Blog and as always welcome your comments under the video box.

Ah.....he is nobody. Just a guy with too much election night jungle juice.....

Anonymous said...

I was at Rugg. NONE of the people that I saw for the three hours I was there had a clue that their voting place had been changed. These weren't dumb asses. They were intelligent folks who had not been informed.

Anonymous said...

Rugg had 237 votes cast out of over 870 registered active chronic voters at that precinct (C 17). The commissioner told me that is unusual for that box and I believe that something happened. All the other precincts were steady and active.

Anonymous said...

That means that Rugg has a 27% turnout as opposed to the 40% - 45% in the rest of the city. I think I smell some Jo Jo Do Do.

Anonymous said...

"All the other precincts were steady and active."

Not true at all. Have you even reviewed the SOS website?

Lamar's got a link to it on his site.

Peabody also had about 20% turnout, and some precincts only recorded less than 100 total votes.

Anonymous said...

caveat: the sec'y of state link on lamars blog just covers the mayoral ballots cast.

Anonymous said...

I was a poll watcher at C42 (Cherokee Elementary) all day. There were many people that came from ASH because they had been told that their precinct had changed. None of them were upset. They even said that they assumed they had been notified and just didn't pay attention to it. Alot of others came in to vote holding their precinct change cards, even handing it to the commissioners. So don't say that the cards weren't mailed out...... And don't respond by saying that the registar's ofice was selective in only sending change cards to white neighborhoods. You're full of crap and you know it.

Anonymous said...

No one at Rugg was upset. They just didn't know. The election worker promptly called the clerk's office and told the voters where they could vote. It's only a few blocks away, for God's sake.

Anonymous said...

Exactly. So I don't see what the problem is. They were sent their change cards, didn't pay attention to them (I probably wouldn't have either), and they were too damn lazy to drive a few blocks to vote. There is no one at fault here. If they chose not to vote, fine. That's their decision to make. Why is it always the case that someone in charge has to be blamed. I bet you people placing blame probably heard the explosions the day George Bush was slinging Dynamite from a Coast Guard helicopter at the New Orleans Levees. Grow up.

Anonymous said...

I was not implying that it was anyone's fault. I was simply giving the account of what I witnessed. No one is blaming anyone or saying it's a racial thing. Geez. You need to lighten up.

Anonymous said...

Jo Jo defender, why don't we let a judge decide. You got the map thing, now the precinct thing. It's not like the registrar has anything else to do besides occassional elections. Anyway, I think insulting her employer's intelligence and motives should take her pretty far.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous,
Sorry...didn't mean to sound like I was attacking you. Don't know if you've read some of the other posts on this topic, but blame was certainly dealt earlier. Go back and start at about 1:00PM. I've read some of "we saw that's" stuff on Lamar's site and respected his comments. But I think he's way way out of line trying to start shit about Joanelle Wilson. I know her personally and she is one of the most honest and fair people I know. She has done a great job in the registrars office for a very long time and he needs to get his facts straight before he comes on here again and speculates on something he doesn't know shit about.

Anonymous said...

hey think what you like but two poll commissioners and a voter say different to what ms wilson said. lets have a complete investigation and then there will be no question.

Anonymous said...

I just have to take a moment away from the current topic to thank the citizens of Alexandria who had the good sense not to elect John Sams. I wish the candidates, both of them, a good race, even though I personally will be pulling for Jacques.

Anonymous said...

Not only did we not elect John Sams, we obliderated him in the polls. Dr. Sams, now you know what Alexandria really thinks of you.

Anonymous said...

Boos:
To the TT. You do'nt have to live by the candidate’s commitment to STOP the negative! Billy, what were you thinking with that comment about Roy "NOT chasing the ambulance" that passed when he was on Jackson Street.

Anonymous said...

IT WAS A JOKE!

Anonymous said...

Sams loss affected more than just Sams. Leonid has been exposed as a pretender. He's probably in Monroe consoling his buddy. Lou, well hell Lou, just get all those damn Sams signs off of Lower 3rd. What were you thinking Lou?

Anonymous said...

HA HA HA!!!!

Anonymous said...

I thought the ambulance chasing comment in the TT was hilarious! Funniest thing Billy Gunn has ever printed. Must have been a rare "moment of truth".

Anonymous said...

Is it common knowledge that Gunn and Roy are good friends? (No innuendo intended.) I heard way before the campaign that they were close and that Roy was were Gunn was getting some of his info when he was writing on the Cleco stuff. I wonder how objective Gunn can be when his good friend is running for mayor? Even the "ambulance chasing" joke helps Roy but getting people to laugh about it and making Roy look good. I don't want to jump to conclusions but I'm a little concerned about Gunn's objectivity.

Anonymous said...

Billy Gunn, not being an investigative reporter, depends upon scraps fed to him by someone in the know. As Jacques wanted to expose the CLECO information he probably used Gunn to do so. I seriously doubt Jacques and Billy Gunn are drinking buddies. Reporters, in their own minds, like to think that they are "friends" with politicians, but they are simply used to get a story out.

Anonymous said...

roy and delores seem nice enough. but i am waiting on their respective position papers on a waterslide

Anonymous said...

My family voted for Dr Sams. We are proud of that fact - he is a good and honest person. But, now we have to make a choice. In doing so we want to see just who both of the remaining candidates is going to surround him (her) self with - who are the people that will be assisting and advising each.

Change in City Hall and its operation is imperative to us. There has been so much hype about the current mayor that it is ridiculous. This town has many many problems that need to be solved.

It is the people who are around the new Mayor who will be in a position to help solve those problems, or to continue the same old same old that has been going on for the past 20 years.

Sometimes change is good [and needed]- this is one time it is, and my family will be looking at the two remaining candidates to see which will offer the best in terms of the change for the city of Alexandria, and a complete change in appointed personnel in City Hall is needed.

We shall see, what we shall see. But, each candidate needs to declare in advance who they are going to be listening to.

We will be waiting and listening to what each has to say before deciding who we will vote for.

Anonymous said...

Boo Boo what two poll commissioners and some ignorant voters told KALB hardly constitutes a Watergate and Bob Woodward is not needed. You have resorted to publishing rumour - try fact. Want to know how to arrive at fact - let a voter file a lawsuit. I hardly think a poll commissioner is knowledgeable enough to know whether a voter possesses intelligence and whether or not the person was informed about his/her new voting site.

I would dearly love to see you climb into the middle of Ms. Wilson's ass. She runs a tight ship and nows her job. Seems to me the way you keep beating this drum you got a personal dog in the discussion. If you are a resident of one the affected Districts put your money up and file a lawsuit or shut the hell up.

Otherwise Boo Boo the fool you are a shit stirrer.

Anonymous said...

lol anon looks like you told us.

Anonymous said...

we saw that seems to be trying to stir a pot on this issue. More than likely here is what happened. New voter cards were mailed out, I got mine by the way, no one paid attention or kept it, as usual, and then they show up to vote at the precinct, get mad and leave. Also, these cards would have been mailed out after reapportionment. Most people do not pay attention to these things.

Anonymous said...

We saw That (AKA Boo Boo the Fool {per personal request}) is reporting as fact a she said/they said report on KALB. All one has to do to arrive at the truth is put up the money and file a lawsuit. Other than that I believe the person who does the job daily not some senior citizen.

Anything less than filing a lawsuit is shit stirring.

Anonymous said...

well its easy to see that something is up with the registrars office as shown by the pro-wilson faction comments on here trying to smack down or nip in the bud any talk of impropriety or wrong doing on the registrars part. classic political moves.

Anonymous said...

Anon seems to have an arms-length objective view of the voting controversy. I assume that it is merely a coincidence that he/she shares the same "fuck the voters" philosophy and attitude as Jo Jo. Running elections is her job. Let's see how her employers like her performance and attitude.

Anonymous said...

It will take a law suit to correct the defects in the election but the problems in the registrar's office are far easier to remedy.

Anonymous said...

Boo Boo you still running your head but you ain't putting up any money. Trite but true Money talks Bullshit wals.

Also do Southern Ladies and Gentleman use the "F" word without the post being deleted?

Anonymous said...

I was also a pollwatcher at precinct C-42. I saw nothing untoward going on there. A few people came in and were not allowed to vote due to the fact that their names were not in the book. (Of course, there was that elderly lady who kept discussing the candidates including the pros of one and the cons of the other. Someone needs to give her a refresher course). The Commissioner took their name and address and called the Registrar's office and normally came back with the proper info. Most of the time, the voter left in search of the proper precinct. Their were a few who left before she came back with the info.

Anonymous said...

Apparently there is more to the story than reported by KALB (go figure.) The plot thickens. Boo Boo this information seems to b e a stumbling block in your campaign to get Ms. Wilson. Tsch Tsch your petty attempt to start shit against the Wilson seems to be going south.

First you run your alligator mouth, don't put up the money and know we find out the poll commissioner was politicking - thought you couldn't do that.

Maybe Jo Jo needs to have the Grand Jury investigate what actually went on at that precint.

Anonymous said...

lol no one is out to get ms wilson. we are going on what was reported on kalb which was that there were irregularities in saturdays voting process. someone is lying and if its the poll commissioner(s) then so be it. we just want to know what the truth is.

Anonymous said...

I have never met Ms. Wilson, and in no way am I defending her. You should be ashamed of insinuating an affair with Mr. Dyess. Is this what this blog has become? A haven for gossips? What has happened? Go ahead and give me a smart a## answer, but remember, you are not moving Alexandria forward.

It's official: Jacques Roy and Delores Brewer will meet in a Nov. 7 runoff for Alexandria mayor. Voting machines from Saturday's elections were opened today, and no changes were found to the mayoral voting results.

Brewer finished 17 votes ahead of Roosevelt Johnson to claim the second runoff spot.

Should Johnson want to challenge the election, he has until Monday to file a lawsuit.

Anonymous said...

Delores is in the runoff. But she won't be able to raise money. If she wants to run this off, she'll be forced to spend a boat load of her own money. And for what? Most people who have looked at the breakdown of the precincts and the demographics of the city know that that she cannot win against Roy on Nov. 7. No one can pull this off for her now. It's not disloyal to her for her supporters to acknowledge that. It is merely the truth. Her supporters would be doing her and her family a huge favor to tell her the truth about this before she spends lots more of her own money. In fact, it would be cruel not to be truthful. In fact, anyone who leads her on about this is not really her friend.

Anonymous said...

If you are really her friend or have so much factual information, why don't you go to her and tell her that. I'm sure she would invite you in to a closed door chat.

Anonymous said...

I'll bet Roosevelt is just sick about this--17 votes. So close, but yet so far. I have a feeling the blacks will try to get behind one strong candidate in four years. I agree with Fuller that having four did them in. Even if there had been two or three--one of them (Roosevelt) would have gotten in the runoff.

You are reading into things. My dog in this hunt got wiped out. I don't have a personal stake anymore. You are probably family or a very close friend. But I can assure you that any of Brewer's supporters who looked at the breakdown of the precinct numbers available on Sec. of State website knows it would be next to impossible to take this race. Any of them. All you have to do is ask them. Or better yet, ask the pollster. He will tell you. I know you are upset, and I feel for you, but attacking the messenger won't change anything.

I could care less about Ms. Wilson or her office. However, I do know that they messed up a precinct in Buckeye community as well. There were at least 89 people who were not allowed to vote for or against the school tax who should have been able to. Only after a protest did the registrar correct the error and solve the problem. Again, 89 people were disenfranchised (tax passed by 700+). This error combined with pct 42 and the district 4/2 error have certainly eroded my confidence. If that is the Registrar's only function - they should be more careful and make sure they get it right. NO EXCUXES !

Anonymous said...

wow thats wild

Anonymous said...

Look, the elderly lady at C-42 was talking to me. Of course, she wasn't whispering, but still, my point was that they should have people who can hear, spell and will follow the rules to be Commissioners at those precincts. There was nothing blatant that I saw. She happened to be blasting my candidate, so it got on my nerves. I'm sure if it was the other candidate she was criticizing, it wouldn't have bothered me so much.

Got no grudge against Ms. Wilson. Don't care what she & Rev. did or didn't do to each other but don't want her doing it to us.

The map mix-up is obviously incompetence. Her inability to conduct her sole function which is to conduct a relatively error free election is also obviously incompetence. I am most concerned by her unwillingness to take responsibility for her own mistakes and her tendency to treat the public like lepers. I hope she gets called to task for it and the Dyess legacy comes to an end.

Anonymous said...

well the map thing was the fault of the city councilmen themselves for not making sure that everything was proper.

Anonymous said...

talk about chocking on a gnat - 12 flocking voters big deal. The special meeting brought out the fact that it is the city's responsibility to furnish Jo Jo with the map. Did they?

Anonymous said...

My recollection is that JoJo got her map from the Rapides Area Planning Commission. She was furnished with the correct Justice-Dept.-Approved Map and had it present on premises but neglected to use it and neglected to determine which one she should use to determine precincts. She was aware that her info was incorrect because she admits that she had 3 conflicting maps and a written description that matched none of the maps. Was there a duty to determine which map, if any, was correct? Absolutely! What else does she have to do? I think that level of negligence borders on criminal. And her "screw you" attitude toward the citizens: that's where she will pay big.

Anonymous said...

Will she pay big? Who in the community is really paying attention to all of this and if they are, do they understand the importance? I don't think the public is too upset about it all. Just look at how many people bothered to try to go vote on Saturday. I don't think enough people care enough to pursue it.

Anonymous said...

If your recollection is in fact fact I will concede she had to utilize the Justice Department, city furnished map and didn't.

John Brewer has a job. I think it's the Mrs. who will be job hunting.

Anonymous said...

Provosty was at the official count today. Guess he was the attorney for DB. Heard they were sucking up big time to Roosevelt.

Anonymous said...

Working Roosevelt is not going to help. This is sad to watch. Brewer simply cannot get enough black vote to beat Roy. Even if she got ALL of Sam's vote, she would still need some significant black votes to win. Ain't gonna happen. She should do the right thing and get out. She will look stronger and more concerned about the city if she does that rather than getting her clock cleaned on Nov. 7. I think people would admire her for it and that would be good for her future.

Anonymous said...

I think if she got all of Sam's votes and Roosevelts she would not need to drop out. You sound like a Roy supporter who is just not up for the fight. Delores will make her decision in her own good time. In the meantime, you might want to be scraping up a few funds for the battle.

Anonymous said...

either way looks like we all hold our breath till 4:30 pm monday next.

Anonymous said...

Maybe you're right. Maybe nobody cares if a person negligently messes up an election and then curses the folks for noticing it. I don't have an answer for that. But maybe they will remember and maybe somebody who would like to be registrar of voters will remind them. I don't think you can treat people that way forever and get away with it. But we shall see, won't we?

Anonymous said...

If Jo Jo's statement that only 12 vots were impacted the 12 votes by themselves would not affect the outcome. However, if a case can be made that a significant number of voters were turned away and prevented from voting by an error on the part of Jo Jo's office now you got a lawsuit Roosevelt.

The outcome of the supposed irregularities would not affect first place but sure as hell could affect second place.

BREWER CANNOT GET ALL OF ROOSEVELT'S VOTE. SHE CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF IT TO WIN, EVEN IF HE ENDORSES HER. Now, with only one Democrat in the race, the party is going to get heavily involved. Roosevelt will be extremely pressured to not endorse a Republican. If he wants to run again for ANYTHING he better think twice about that. But, even if he were stupid enough to endorse her it DOES NOT mean that his people will go for her. Regarding Sams, I think she can get a good portion of that but certainly NOT all of it, either. You are dreaming.

Anonymous said...

I am not a Roy supporter, (live in Woodworth) but I must say that frontrunners don't ususally have to "scrape up funds" for the battle. The money begins to roll in unsolicited. People want to support the winner. The same would be happening to Brewer if she were the strong frontrunner. Didn't make up the rules, just telling it like it is. Quite frankly, I think the voter irregularities is a more interesting conversation.

Billy Gunn is obviously a bachelor and can be found any evening of the week, getting loaded at the Smiff Saloon or an associated or related drinkery. His thirst for demon rum is greater than his thirst for information and that makes him very easy to misinform and mislead. He probably thinks he is using the councilmen but I think the opposite is true. They know he will tapdance for a drink and they ride that pretty hard.

video: Roosevelt Johnson Will Not Contest Election Results
kalb snip:
In an interview late Tuesday afternoon, Roosevelt Johnson tells News Channel 5 that he will not contest the mayoral election results.

Anonymous said...

Don't be too sure. Lawson's new specialty is promoting republicans. I am told that he has cut a deal with Delores through Albin, his double buddy. If that's what Delores is about, she's gotta go. One pledge we got from Roy is no more Provosty, Bridget, or Kelvin. No secrets and no backroom deals. That's good enough for me.

Anonymous said...

Brewer probably won't get any more black votes than the did in the primary, but don't feel so certain that Jacques will pick up all of the other black votes that were cast in the primary either. With no black candidates in the runoff, don't be surprised when the number of black votes is greatly reduced. Alot of them feel that they have no reason to vote now.

Anonymous said...

ex-roosevelt supporter. good point. that snake myron will cut any deal that is in his self interest. if roy truly won't cut a deal with him, then you can bet he will cut one with delores and do everything he can to insure a republican is elected. senile silvers is the perfect example, his little buddie in the totally bogus bentley sale.

Anonymous said...

u dun think the bentley thing is gonna go thru?

Anonymous said...

we saw that. of course not. there wasn't even an agreed upon price. the promoters, if you read the press release basically said "sure, we will buy the bentley as long as the city and state pony up the dough and we don't have any liability.

Anonymous said...

I am a Delores supporter and I agree that Roy won't get all of the black vote. But realistically, he will get way more than Delores. I agree that the blacks will vote even lighter on Nov. 7 than on Saturday. But, I still say Roy will pull majority of black vote, even if Delores pulls in some black endorsements. Those usually don't work for Republicans. Plus, Roy's white vote was not "soft" as Babs reported on KALB. So, if Roy retains the white vote he got, plus gets good black vote he'll win even if Delores gets most of Sams vote and a small percentage of blacks. Crunch the numbers, folks, crunch the numbers. But hey, I would like to be proven wrong. Maybe she should pull out all of the stops and give it a shot.

Anonymous said...

To the folks who said Delores should get out, I say that it's too early. She should explore options. Hey, wouldn't it be great if she could be Roy's chief of staff?

Anonymous said...

Hey, wouldn't it be great if she could be Roy's chief of staff?

No it wouldn't.

Anonymous said...

Wouldn't it be great for Delores to cut the apron strings and get a real job?

Anonymous said...

Is it true that Delores fired the guy from Florida and hired Roy Fletcher?

If so, don't listen to what she said about this campaign staying positive.

Fletcher's one of the most negative campaign consultants in the country.

Anonymous said...

look, if roy thinks those throat cutting, dried up ole harpies in the delores camp are going to play nice, i've got beach front property in florida i need to talk to him about. the whisper campaign has already started, and let me tell you, albin, delores, and roseanne barr are not looking to get a real job and make an honest living. throw in that snake myron, and roy has got a fight on his hands. i hope he realizes it.

Anonymous said...

i hear the democratic party is really, really mad at myron for taking money to promote democratic candidates and then not endorsing lampert or hickman at all on his ballot.

he is a snake.

source tells me that the state democratic party will probably never give him money again.

myron should recognize what's at stake and do the right thing.

he supported jacques roy on september 30. a change in his opinion would be seen for exactly what it is-- an incredibly dumb power play.

Anonymous said...

read here about the hired gun roy fletcher and his candid admission he is a prostitute for hire. please tell me delores did not hire this thug. http://www.theind.com/political2.asp?CID=693655002

Anonymous said...

wow. interesting.

if myron endorses delores, two things would happen, IMHO.... he'd lose all credibility within his own political party, and he'd lose all credibility within his own constituency. probably kill any chances he ever had of running for a higher office.

Anonymous said...

No need to worry about a negative campaign in the mayoral runoff. The democrats are about to unload on the republicans and their pervert e-mails. It's about time those self-righteous assholes got theirs. At least Bill was smart enough to pick a woman who was not underage.

Foley can go back home to Florida and find lots of new friends, since they have the largest population of per capita sex offenders.

Rodney Alexander might sound as dumb as a sack of hammers when he opens his mouth, but this was going on in his own office. Had to know something.

And fatass Hastert trying to prevent an investigation might be criminal.

Anonymous said...

LOL. what credibility does that snake myron have now?

Anonymous said...

Beware. Don't underestimate Myron. He is amoral and an inveterate liar. He revels in deception though he is not very good at it but when he gets caught, which is always, he screams that he is a poor abused negro and should not be held responsible. Myron's plan is 75% complete. He managed to keep the council thugs together. Unfortunately, it won't work unless he can keep an impotent mayor controlled by Albin on the second floor. If Delores gets in it's 20 more years of numbnutzned.

It Roy gets in he will throw a big time monkey wrench in the Myron Masterplan. Myron operates on the assumption that folks don't want things to be different and so far he's batting 1000. I hope we break up that gang once and for all.

Anonymous said...

Provosty apparently anticipated the runoff problem against Roy and primed the pump by giving Myron some major bucks for the primary out of his own pocket. The firm kicked in too. Apparently feeding Roseanne Sadler ain't cheep.

Anonymous said...

To say the Democratic Party is pissed off at Lawson is an understatement. He took their money and support and screwed them with it. Worse thing is, he screwed a good guy and a good democrat out of a council seat. Its strike three, he's OUT!

Anonymous said...

Maybe the kevlar coating will start to peel off of Myron. Untouchable so far, but maybe the bloggers are not in the minority and everyone will start to see through the smoke and mirrors.

Anonymous said...

I have read a lot of crap of this site, but occassionally someone gets it right. The La Demo party is through with Myron. He has screwed them one too many times. Word is that the party leaders have said myron will never get another penny.

For those who don't already know, Fredel Griffin is Myron's girl. She does the dirty work. Isn't that a comforting thought to know the she has anything to do with city government.
And watch for her to stir more shit at the school board now that allen was elected.

Anonymous said...

Cespiva is a nutless wonder. Myron will come out just fine.

Anonymous said...

You obviously don't know Cespiva. This time he's got Lawson's jewels in the vice.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't count on the Demo party being finished with Myron. Cespiva may have him where he wants him right now. But watch, Myron will play and redeem himself. You just watch. This guy is slick, man.

Anonymous said...

Roy is the winner. Its only a matter of how long it takes for Brewer to concede. Albin is just about the only one pushing her to remain in the race. Do you think he's doing it because he cares about her?

Anonymous said...

Fredell Griffin--what a great American! Wasn't she in the slammer for a while for passing bogus checks and such? I thought she was Mary Landrieu's girl. Didn't know she was Myron's girl, too.

Word has it that Brewer and Sams were seen in the quaters tonight meeting with a group of Ned's black "activist". Anybody have anything concrete on this meeting?

Anonymous said...

Nope, but if it's true, it ain't gonna pull this thing out for her. Just ask Randy Wiggins if blacks will vote for a Republican in any significant numbers to matter.

Anonymous said...

Lawson promised Wiggins he'd deliver the black vote in 1999 against McPherson. He did, I think he delivered at least three of them.

Anonymous said...

"Just ask Randy Wiggins if blacks will vote for a Republican in any significant numbers to matter."

You mean the dildo with Chiclets for teeth.

I remember when that turdburglar was pulling the trailer with the giant elephant around on election day a few years ago. What a fartknocker.

Speaking of elephants and the GOP, I think Dumbo shat on Hastert, Foley and the rest of the boys.

Anonymous said...

Anyone hear whether the Republican Party is going to get involved in Brewer's race? If so, will they give money? The other question I have is will Sams will endorse her? Biff are you there?

Anonymous said...

Now that was a fun election. Joe suckered Wiggins in and beat him like a redheaded stepchild.

If Brewer raises some money but ultimately decides to get out before Nov. 7, does she have to return the unspent money to the contributors or can she keep any unspent funds to pay herself back for what she loaned her campaign?

word is that ned's ex-wife claudia and robert adley of republican party are trying to get delores to stay in the race and are helping to arrange meeting with roy fletcher; there was talk this morning of sams and brewer meeting with black preachers tonight which may be what prior blogger was referring to; biff, what is sams doing taking her to black preachers to get her support.
hopefully "those people" will see what a shallow and insincere person she really is

How can you possibly call somebody like Delores who may actually talk to a negro every 4 years shallow and insincere. Albin was finally forced to hire a minority lawyer and found a negro that talks like Elenor Rosevelt. Quite "enchawnting"

daphne is a fine person and a good lawyer with excellent credentials. she clerked for pappy "darth vader" little, and would be an asset to any firm. she certainly is no "token".

Anonymous said...

Really? Exactly what sort of work does she do there at the Provosty Firm since she is also full-time at the District Attorney's Office?? Also, you should not confuse her education, training, and talent with the reason that Provosty hired her. Her capability isn't suspect but their motives are.

Anonymous said...

i have no idea what kind of work she does at provosty. i am pretty sure all the assistant DA's have a practice on the side if they want. nothing unusual there.

Anonymous said...

Most ADAs have a civil practice in addition to their duties at the DA's office. It's permitted in this jurisdiction. Anybody seen Rocky Wilson's office, Tom Wells' office, or Tom Searcy's office. They are all ADAs as well. Anyway, who cares what Provosty's motives were. She does honest work for honest pay.

Anonymous said...

If you don't know what she does, how do you know what she does?

Anonymous said...

let's just call her up and damn well find out what she IS doing! "hi, i'm from the blog, do you mind telling us what daphne does and fax over her time sheets. thanks. "

well, hell's bells! anon. is right. i did call over there, and they said she doesn't do anything and doesn't even come to work. they said she is the firm's token, and they just roll her out if a black client is involved.

Biff, if you live in Alexandria, you can bet your ass that you are funding her position. If you are happy with that then fine. I think we are paying too many lawyers to do non-lawyer stuff. Remember, we had one studying the water park to the tune of $100,000. Go ahead and make that call. The info might surprise you.

She's the spy planted for the council so they know what Albin and the crew are up to. God it doesn't take a genius to figure that one out. Obviously Trey can't sit in on meetings at the Provosty firm, but one of their lawyers can...

Anonymous said...

I am quite sure you are right about Daphne. My complaint is with Provosty. I don't think the council needs a spy because I sincerely believe that Myron is directing Provosty with the same precision and degree of control as an orchestra conductor. That is the danger with sticking Delores back up there. The voters rejected any council change so we desparately need Jacques in the mayor's office.

Myron is such a creep. I heard a discussion on the radio this morning to the effect that nobody would be surprised if the Bentley deal didn't close. How does that make you feel?

I am told that CFS is jumping on the Brewer bandwagon to, as he says, keep the gang together.

Daphne Robinson is neither hard working nor a very good lawyer. She is however a non-threatening token - she knows it, ask her.

Anonymous said...

The problem with Brewer is Alvin and Myron. Myron appears to be exercising complete manipulatory control over the administration as well as the council and Provosty is to well compensated to resist - or it just isn't in his interest to do so. Ken Juneau is a different case. He is supposed to go with the flow. Provosty should have some sense of right and wrong - appears not to.

Anonymous said...

All you Roy supporters better be careful how you beat on Delores on here. Jacques said in the paper that the "fringe elements on the blogs" caused him to go negative. What goes around comes around. How hypocritical can you get. He complains about Delores supporters and out of the shoot you guys start you same ole same ole. Obviously, you didn't get the memo.

that was where we differed with mr. roy when he came out with that.

there is no way to know if someone posting something positive, negative or whatever is part of an organized campaign or just a random passerby posting something provocative. we really dont accept "the bloggers made me do" as a valid enough reason to go negative.
