"and so the end is near, and now we face the final curtain ..."

Twenty-four hours left to the first round. Who will be the two? Hopefully the terminally embittered will find solice and stop carrying on as the hopelessly clueless. This blog was started as an exchange of important information and ideas. What we have wound up with is an anonymous way to insult your neighbor. Beam me up Scotty ....

some white voters are going to get tire of the white bashing and give the race to a black canidate. THen alexandria would be a chocolate city of the north. Maybe we could get jobs on one the several new created levee boards None of the black canidates are a mayor fields. I believe Roy would be the best bet against the "its our turn Bridget Brown gang" ALexandria by defult is still an old southern democratic town. The "power that be" will not vote for a white republican woman. Roy being a democrat will have some change of pulling the conservative black vote. Hell even a cameraman from KALB could be city council man at large and then run for mayor after only a few years in city gov't....................wait that really is happending. My fear is that if we elected a "it our turn candiate" We will be going back to fishing out of of the city pools again. Alexandria is at a crossroads we can become as big as lafayette or not

"Biff, I think you are a woman. Am I right?"

Well,he has a penis,but other than that...you are right.

Plus,he is a former New Orleans lawyer, which is worse!

Well damn, now we all know Biff's true identity. No wonder he's posting 24-7 about his buddy Sams. He's one of the big Kahunas of the failed campaign!

Anonymous said...

Dr.Sams must know his cadidacy is doomed. Just saw him letting his dog crap in his neighbor's yard. Is he arrogant or what? Does he really think the residents of Park Place don't mind? Weeks ago i put a posting on Lamar Whites' blog spot about Sams' rudeness. Either he doesn't read the sites or he doesn't care what the average person thinks. After all, he is DOCTOR SAMS, God's gift to Aexandria.

Are those Brewer supporters still standing at the intersection of MacArthur Drive and Jackson Street encouraging passers-by to blow their horns? How childish! Does that sort of thing actually influence someone's vote?

we saw that. tanks, so it take five to over-ride a veto. with lampert, fowler, and maybe hickman or slatking, the mayor may have enough support to maintain his veto, and curb the city council. just rambling.

kalb...Report: Voting Problems in Alexandria District 4

According to NewsChannel 5's Larry Collins, some 150 to 200 voters may have been disenfranchised in District 4 of the City of Alexandria. Apparently, the problem stemmed from those people being re-directed from voting at Rugg Elementary to Bolton High School. It appears a number of those voters did not wait around to find out where they were supposed to vote once they learned they were not to vote at Rugg. Stay tuned for more details on this developing situation.

Brewer will drop out by Friday. Jaques even beat her at Nachman, a republican box. She got zero percent of the black vote and will not get any. Its over. Alexandria, you have your new mayor. Who the hell ever thought a republican could win in the first place?

Anonymous said...

Can you people really live with the city council make-up? I cannot believe that I am so out of touch with people of this town or that I am that far off-base, but it looks as though I am.

Anonymous said...

keith rabalis did beat RJ for city council a couple years on election night UNTIL the next when "miscounted" and discovered 500 more voted to make RJ the winner. We need to wait and see everything could change

Anonymous said...

personally we would prefer a roy - johnson matchup, you know, just to keep things interestin.

Anonymous said...

the real question that we are interested in is did the "blogs" make any difference? what you think?

Anonymous said...

Delores Brewer was congratulating the citizens on a good turnout, which by my calculations within the city was 44% (12157 / 27500). We are in T-R-O-U-B-L-E if this is considered a great turnout. Good government cannot be attained if people do not participate. My mission from now on is to increase the give a shit level of the citizens of Alexandria.

Anonymous said...

WeSawThat, I think that I viewed things differently as I misjudged the level of discontent with the city councl which is oviously not as great as I had anticipated. I think this blog had some minor effect as points of view were exchanged. It would be a really great tool if we could all get a little more serious and discuss issues in more depth and stay out of the personalities. While blogging is a new tool, I don't think it will replace being on the street talking to folks to get the real feel of the community in the near future.

Anonymous said...

Brewers own poll says she can not win a run off with Roy. People who gave her money in first run will NOT be contributing to this second round an can avoid having to give Roy money if they can convince her to drop out. So, look for her to do just that. Hopefully Johnson does not get a reversal of votes and make the runoff because then it becomes more problamatic for Roy although he would still be odds on favorite to win. But , Brewer is out , its over. It is truly ashame because she could have avoided even having Roy in this race and could have had his support by simply doing those things that were RIGHT as Chief of Staff. Moral of the story...dont rely on people who have vested interest other than the City advising you . Do not let the lawyer hangers on and the politican hangers on and out of state whore political "experts" suck your soul from you such that you start doing what is POLItically correct and forget your own convictions and reasons that you wanted to run in the first place. ....
Lets watch the lizards now change colors and try to get on board the Roy bandwagon. Sorry Provostys, game, set match. Find another dog to suck the blood from .

Anonymous said...

do you really think ms brewer would drop out? we feel like shes in it till the bitter end. she doesnt have anything to lose.

Anonymous said...

I do think she will drop out. I am certain the last couple of weeks of negative politics were very unpleasant and I know for a fact that there would be more new revelations that would not be pleasant . I also know that her own poll did show that she could not win against Roy. And it really gets worse. Roy is a white democrat and Brewer is a white Republican who has completely alieanated the black vote and particularly the City Counsil. All of the City Counsil was reelected and has no run off and can work for Roy in the runoff.
The economics are even more dismal for Brewer. All of those who get business from the City and who supported Brewer will be quickly trying to mend fences with Roy and not give money to Brewer. They have seen the same poll and can use common sense to know that Brewer can NOT win ..she just can't . This was supposed to be a run off between Brewer and any of the blacks. Even that match up was not favorable according to her own poll. I would expect that those around her and those who have financially supported Brewer in the first round will not want to be forced to give her more money. And many of them were by their own admission supporting her now only because she is a good person and their friend OR because they committed to her before Roy got into the race. In either instance they will feel as though they are no longer obligate and will NOT want to further bury their future with the new Mayor. DO NOT look for Randolph to support Brewer in the runoff and will in all likelyhood be trying to convince Brewer to drop out. In fact, Look for MRS Randolph to try to broker some kind of deal so she can approach Roy and tell him that SHE will get Brewer out of the race and thus endear herself with the apparent New Mayor. You see, even though Ned is a wonderful guy you NEVER want to have an enemy someone follow you into office after being in there for so long . IF There is anything to hide you sure dont want someone advers to you to follow you . THUS, MRS Randolph wil try to act like she is influtential and thus go to Roy , if she has not already and try to be the hero.
Brewer can say that this was a very difficult race, that she loves the City and now wants to help mend the differences. She can then perhaps be in a position to keep her Capital projects positon with Roy. Initially this might be hard to make happen given the "corruption" tag she got in the last few days , BUT, the deal could be made now to get out and have a job in JANUARY...
Yep, I think Brewer gets out by end of next week. Wheter she does or not, absent some tragedy, Roy is our next Mayor. Democracy at work.

Anonymous said...

That was a really nasty comment about Ned and the person who posted it should be ashamed. I would hold off before assuming anything about Ned's participation in the runoff. I've been a supporter of Ned's since his first race for the legislature. I know Ned understands demographics and numbers. Granted, he's a lifelong friend of Delores, the Deans and the Brewer family. But I believe before long, he may join others in telling her that she cannot win this runoff. I think there is a good possibility that Brewer will have a poll done and bow out as a result. Ned was underutilized by DB in the race. IMHO, that was a tactical error made by the strategist and agreed to by the candidate. But that error plus the series of blunders by Delores was a blessing for Roy. She repeatedly gave her opponents things to use against her. Watch her camp change their tune and attempt to engage Ned in this runoff. Problem is it's much too late. I predict Ned won't do it at the expense of his legacy. It's clear that demographics will prevent DB from winning in a runoff against Roy. I doubt many business heavies are going to want to spend their stamps on a losing proposition. Provosty may stick because he knows he's toast with a Roy administration--so he has nothing to lose by suggesting she "go for broke." Watch others bail in droves.

Anonymous said...

I would like to hear any stories about whether this blog actually changed anyone's vote. I suspect that those who post on here stayed committed to the same candidates as they were from the begining. As far as the council votes, apparently the vast majority of the citizens don't read this blog, as they sent the same ones back. Also, apparently the vast majority of the electorate did not think Roy was running a dirty campaign. It is clear that bloggers do not speak for the majority of the voters.

Anonymous said...

For the sake of discussion, where would Brewer go to get more votes? Sams didnt get enough votes to make a difference. Where? I see no logical reason for Brewer to prolong this race that has a clear outcome. By going ahead and conceeding now she could save the "SPONSORS" money, spare her friends from being put on the spot any more , spare the Randolphs this awkward situation and allow Roy to start putting his team together. And perhaps save herself a position with the City. Granted its Sunday morning and too early to make the decision, but its Over Delores. Whether you quit or whether you decie to run..... Fire that idiot from Florida first thing Monday morning You could have won this thing.

Anonymous said...

Guess being a trial lawyer isn't a bad thing to the majority. People understand lawyers represent them in a variety of matters. The silk stocking blue bloods hopefully learned that the people know that they have profit as their primary interest.

Anonymous said...

Wonder how the "guys' at CLECO are feeling tonight?

Anonymous said...

What idiot in the Brewer camp decided that the last week of campaigning should be to run a commercial about cutting grass and cleaning up grafitti? Was that what she paid tens of thousands of dollars to her consultant for? ..$200,000+ and she still might be in 3rd place. I would love to hear Scarlets comments on this .

Anonymous said...

when she said "those people" in that ad it sunk her.

Anonymous said...

I disagree. I predict Ned would turn the other cheek and try to help her in the runoff if she asks. And boy that's asking for a lot in light of the dynamics of this race. I also gotta think Ned'll tell her that in his opinion he nor anyone else can pull this out for her. Polling is critical at this point, too. It will get everyone's heads out of the clouds and jerk them back to reality.

Anonymous said...

Wonder if Roy or Brewer will get a poll done soon? That is what could really end this thing. If Roy's poll shows what I think it will, and he circulates the poll around town, the fat lady might as well sing. On the other hand, if Brewer's shows she has a shot, and she circulated her poll, that would make it a whole different ball game.

Anonymous said...

No. Jesus is voting for ROY. Its Over.

Anonymous said...

IMHO-

Don't look for Brewer to drop out...Provosty, Sadler et al (a.k.a Pompous Ass and Napolean et al) have got WAYYYY too much at stake. It is not only monies invested, but also monies earned that they are worried about. I would be ever so curious to see the billing records from Provosty to the COA. They probably had to cart them across the street in wheelbarrows-just as well, at least they had something to cart all of that money back over to the office with...Public Records request, anyone? I think that P.S et al will pour money into trying to dig up dirt (or create it) on young Mr. Roy rather than bow out. Them blue bloods are very stubborn when it comes to admitting their own wrongs-so much easier to fabicrate wrongs of others....
Sadly, D.B. has simply been a puppet in this show. A true shanme, I do believe...she does seem like a nice (shallow, and fake) but nice woman. Ned hasn't been holding the reins in a while-Harold would have been the chosen one had he not actually been caught doing something wrong (I say it that way, because the CLECO thing was not his first rodeo)-once Harold was gone, D.B. became next pick b/c she was positioned well and she was controllable. Sadler and John Brewer are best drinking buddies, and P.S. et al know they wont have a chance to swill those fine COA martinis at the trough if Roy is doing the feeding....
So-hold on boys (and girls) it is going to be a bumpy and very very ugly ride.

Anonymous said...

to all the naysayers who said it couldn't be done........SUCK IT BEE-ATCH!!!!

Anonymous said...

The city finally responded to one public records request the day before the election which clearly shows brewer using her city owned cell phone to call swineheart in florida while still on city payroll. The eethical problems for brewer get worse and worse as the city answers the requests. Her continuation in this campaign will be more embarrassing. Just think of what will happen whenshe has to think on her feet against Roy in a true debate.

Anonymous said...

You are crazy if you think Delores is backing out of this race. She has a lot of good people supporting her and she will win. The comment about Ned was uncalled for. He is an incrediable man that Has done incredible things for this city. How would you feel if someone said that ugly comment about your dad. Leave him out of this. By the way he is behind her 100% so are a lot of Democrates. The race is on.............

Anonymous said...

you delores supporters need to take it easy a few days. the official count may very well knock her out of the race.

Anonymous said...

Why on earth would Delores want to drop out? Let's be adults here and support our candidates without all the name-calling and sour grapes. You people are acting like the bullies back in school. AGAIN

Anonymous said...

well, one reason delores might consider dropping out is that big fat R behind her name. she really did alienate the council in her six months as C of S, and it's highly unlikely she can pick up the black vote. it may very well save her some grief by bowing out gracefully now.

Anonymous said...

Biff, I strongly disagree. The council is desparate to keep their show together and with Delores they can expect to exercise the same level of control that they had during Randolph. Albin and Co. get along just fine with Myron and Co. and they can make it happen in the black community. Roy at least means no more Bridget and no more Kelvin and Myron does not want that to happen. For all of the bullshit and theories on this blog, the folks do not want change, they are happy with the crooks that we have in there, and they can mke it happen for Delores because it is in their interest. Why can't you just admit that we were wrong. The Silver thing just amazes me. He whipped Lampert's ass and that says it all. We need to be quiet now. Our view of the future is just not wanted.

Anonymous said...

I agree. It is just like Dr. Slatkin said: the Drs need to Dr., the lawyers need to lawyer, and the crooks need to crook. It will be a long time before some dope that just wants to make a difference jumps in and puts his ass on the line. This election taught all of us a lesson. being intellegent and educated and pure of thought and motive really doesn't count for shit. I agree. The Silver thing just kills my soul. The voters want whatever the council wants. Lies, they don't matter. Nothing matters but Myron Lawson. I ain't happy either

Anonymous said...

You got it anons but the Silver thing is nothing compared to the Hobbs thing. Hobbs is horrible. He has been a miserable failure as a councilman, He screwed over his district and the city and is directly responsible for the unreasonably high utility bills. How could people vote for Hobbs. That is the real mystery.

Anonymous said...

The council races should be looked at on an individual basis. The challengers lost the races due to their own mistakes. Lampert refused to do a commercial or mail-out pointing out that Silver promised not to run if appointed. That was a huge mistake. Slatkin had good intentions but refused to spend the $200,000 needed to win with a good consultant. Lawson would have lost to a well funded "Roy like" opponent, especially considering the low black turnout. Hickman just did not work hard enough on the door to door stuff. I would not consider this a mandate for the status quo, but simply three very poorly run campaigns lacking heavy funding and professional guidance.

Anonymous said...

Do you really think that people didn't know who and what Lawson was and the Kelvin, Bridget, Consultant connections. Have you ever talked to anyone about the Dist. 4 election that was not aware of the condition of not running when appointed, and do you think that a significant number of Dist 2 residents wheren't seriously hurt by utility bills. Maybe you are right and we are where we are because of stratic campaign errors but it is difficult to imagine that this stuff is not common knowledge. All I ever heard was Silver's pledge not to run and Bridgit b and utility bills. You are probably correct but I can't imagine people not being aware of those issues.

Anonymous said...

Congratulation Jacque Roy.Mayor elect(smile). Hope you bring some new legal advise to the city. Good bye Alban, Kelvin, Bridget and the like. Hope you guys find a real job.

Anonymous said...

You cannot simply assume that the average voter is atuned to the issues or the shenanigans. Most people are busy with their own daily lives. The challenger council candidates did absolutely nothing to educate the voters on the issues. You just can't run like that anymore.

Anonymous said...

what about the election problems in alexandria city council district 2? kalb reported last night that around 150 - 200 voters were disenfranchised. will this result in a lawsuit? also councilman hobbs hardly won a landslide last time we checked he only won by 71 votes it would seem that the people in dist 2 do want a change.

Anonymous said...

the problem is in District 4

Anonymous said...

ah, thanks.

Anonymous said...

Swinehart lost this race for Delores in the last 10 days by keeping that tall grass spot running and not answering the attacks from Roy. He must have given up on her along the way.

Anonymous said...

I think the mayor and city council races are a huge indication that people are tired of white vs. black and they're ready for some leadership aimed at uniting rather than dividing the city. Those who cling to the old guard politics of the past didn't fare so well.

I voted for Brewer and if she decides to stay in this race it will be uphill...BUT if she does she needs to start off Wed morning with a press conference to announce 1) she has immediately FIRED Swinehart and Broussard 2) She will not take a penny from anyone who does business with City and 3) SHE is going to run her own campaign and just tell the truth 4) Admit tha she let others persuade her on how to run her campaign ..and YES she did not tell the truth about the Baton Rouge trip and she is sorry , that she just got swept up and did a dumb thing 5) STOP running from NED but will wrap up here campaign with the positives that she has helped accomplish WITH Ned these last 12 years...6) This will be a true campaign on issues and it will not be slick and smoke.but HER and who she REALLY is. If anyone in her camp reads this at LEAST pass this humble suggestion to her . SHE IS THE MESSAGE and its good message.

So you want to leave the strategy to the Provosty Thinktank headed by Roseanne Sadler??? That should work well for Brewer.

Anonymous said...

Poor Poor Delores...first Albin lead her around at city hall and made her lie...now florida consultants are leading her around and are responsible for her embarising almost thrid place showing. So what is it about her, all you Delores fans, that we are missing that makes her a real choice for this city?

Anonymous said...

NO I want her to shed that bunch of leaches and get back to being the honest girl from Colfax who can stand on her own. Its those very people that ruined her chances. The Delores that people have seen in this campaign is NOT the Delores Brewer I know and not the Delores Brewer that the public should have seen. Its one thing to let the people see who you are and vote against you its another to show them someone you are not and get beat. I honestly believe if people could meet the real Delores they would vote for her. She is honest, energetic and caring. That is not what we have been given these past few months. I would like to hear from Scarlett and see if she agrees with me. And Scarlett is NOT one of those peoplethat I was talking about that has been unfavorablly influencing her. She knows what I am talking about too.

Anonymous said...

The truth is that Delores was a big part of much of the positives that happend since NED has been Mayor. BUT we didnt hear a word of that during the campaign. SHE should have run almost like an incumbent, but she didnt. Its hard to run a campaign in Alexandria from the Sunshine state.

Anonymous said...

She can probably hire Leonid & Co. pretty cheap right now.

THIS JUST IN...

Ken Juneau, Personal Pay Me to Sit on my Ass Consultant to the COA Adminstration and mean spirited gossip hound-has decided to seek a contract with Provosty, Sadler, Delaunay, Fiorenza and Sobel for consulting services.
Mr. Juneau will need to supplement his income, seeing that his $100,000.00 annual contact with the city w a perfect fit. Will not be renewed. Provosty et al may actualy need to start advertising for clients once the COA is no longer paying them hundreds of thousands (if not millions) in legal fees. Seeing that Mr. Juneau has experience in P.R. and maketing (granted, unused during his stint with the city) it could be much like Cinderellas glass slipper-a perfect fit. (or am I thinking about that story with the three trolls that live under the bridge? hmmm trip-trap trip-trap.....) Stay tuned..

Anonymous said...

Ken Juneau is a good guy. I can not say the same for the Provostys. I doubt very much that he will take any such contract.

Anonymous said...

Look Ken Junea made a bundle with KJA and made even more when he sold it . He doesnt need the aggravation of the City and its NOT a 100k job

Anonymous said...

Even starting fresh Wed. with a new staff won't get her elected, now. It's much too late. The primary was when she should have run on accomplishments with Ned and properly answered the negative allegations. The demographics of the city make it impossible for her to win unless Roy is found with a dead woman or a live boy--And that's not going to happen.

Anonymous said...

We Saw That,
I disagree with you that Delores will stay in the runoff. I think she will process what happened over the next several days. Then she will find that the money is drying up, and that polling experts don;t think she can make it. Then she'll bow out gracefully.

Anonymous said...

I think probably it was lost early on when she decided to listen to people who she paid instead of people who cared about her.

Anonymous said...

Oh, I agree she should get out. BUT if she doesnt that is what I would like to see her do come Wed Morning.....At least she wont have the rest of her life to regret running someone elses race instead of her own. She knew RIGHT from wrong she knew running based upon what was RIGHT rather than what she was told was BEST for her politcs. She just didnt listen to people with conviction like her. Or like she had BEFORE this election.

Anonymous said...

Oh, I just heard. Roy wants to cut te grass in the City. Said he might "cut" a commercial.

Anonymous said...

"shed that bunch of leaches and get back to being the honest girl from Colfax who can stand on her own"

Delores is a big girl, she made a bad choice by choosing these "leaches", she made a bad choice by lying, and she made a bad choice by lying about lying. She made a really bad choice by being "talked into" running for mayor. I know her personally as well. She is a really NICE lady - warm, friendly and personable - but she is not a CEO or leader. The voters made their choice and hopefully she is bright enough to heed the message and bow out gracefully. Otherwise she faces yet another slaughter.

Anonymous said...

Roseanne Sadler has too much at stake to let her fade with grace. Provosty has already greased Myron. All they gotta do to stay rich is get Delores annointed. Quite a challenge.

Anonymous said...

unfortunately for delores, there is absolutely no way she can get any cross-over vote in a city in which 52% of voters are black and half of all white voters are registered democrat.

not to mention the ethics questions that would still linger.

Anonymous said...

ironically, delores was saved by peabody. peabody had it's home-coming parade yesterday, thousands watched it, and then peabody played a rare saturday night game. i guarantee that cost roosevelt 50 votes, and put delores in the run off.

Nice job of lumping Roy in there with Uncle Eddie (DOC #01928374)

Anonymous said...

Who the hell is Roseanne Sadler??

Anonymous said...

Mrs. Pigmy Sadler

Anonymous said...

If Delores was to drop out of the race, would Roy become Mayor or would he be in a run off with Roosevelt?

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 5:03,
Not trying to lump Roy in with EWE. No way. Just making a point that he's got a huge advantage due to demographics, dynamic message and good strategists. Plus the extent of his negatives, the trial lawyer thing proved to be a non-starter. That dog only hunts in a district wide type of campaign (i.e.congressional race) in a Republican dominated area. In local races, "trial lawyer" is not a very effective negative--particularly when the current mayor is a lawyer.

Anonymous said...

i thought her name was Cindy Sadler.

Anonymous said...

looks and acts like roseanne barr

Anonymous said...

if delores drops out at this point, roy would be mayor. no run-off between him and rosie.

Anonymous said...

Brewer lost this race six months ago when her campaign was highjacked by radical right wing conservative neo-cons. Most of you can name each one of them. There was a proposal for her to switch parties and her ideological "handlers" nixed it. If she had listened to the voice of reason and moderation, she would be in good shape. Jaques probably would not have even run if there had been another white democrat in the race. Jaques is your mayor now. He's a moderate democrat just like Ned and he will do a great job.

Anonymous said...

You folks are reading entrails again instead of looking at the facts. Who controls the black vote? Who is interested in keeping things the way they were/are? Who has already been greased by Provosty to insure continued harmony? Who would present the least resistance to the council? Who is Provosty supporting for mayor? Who is the big money behind? Does the council like money?

Anonymous said...

dont count yer chickens till yer eggs hatch on tuesday :-P

Anonymous said...

What if Brewer conceded the election before Tuesday and Rosevelt were declared 2nd place winner. Then I think you still have a runoff and Delores has made herself a deal to pay off some of her campaign obligations and keep her job. Chew on that Roseanne.

thats a fascinating scenario. however the district 4 voting problem where it was reported 150 - 200 voters were displaced could turn into a lawsuit our question is would that have mayoral implications or just dist 4 implications?

It's like a John Sams conspiracy theory.

I know who controls the black vote-- black voters!!!

The idea that the Provosty firm has that much power and influence is an affront to our democracy, and it is an idea that was soundly defeated in yesterday's primary.

Even the brilliant minds at the Provosty firm understand the reality of the situation.... it ain't good.

councilman silver won by 304 votes by the way.

Anonymous said...

I am told that Lampert is very happy and relieved to be out of the bear trap and I doubt Silver would object to the outcome. The only party that would logically raise an objection would be Johnson who would be hoping to close his race with Brewer - but if Brewer conceded, there would be no other logical objecting party. You would have a runoff between 1st & 2nd place and Brewer is healed. I like the prospects.

Anonymous said...

when this story first broke last week remember there was talk that a voter could file a suit too. thats why we are wondering what if anything will happen there.

Anonymous said...

304 votes mean that if 152 go the other way the winner loses and the loser wins - the math can be tricky and nobody really has any good idea of the size of the error, if any. It ain't over till . . . . . .

Anonymous said...

although this switching precincts thing could be totally different and unique to what they were talking about last week. the only coverage it received was from kalb and we noticed that the town talk was reporting that everything was loverly with the election yesterday.

Anonymous said...

I would like to know what the Brewer supporters would think about someone who openly supported Brewer in the general election and then realizing she could not win get some devine revelation that led them to endorse Jacques now? Scarlet what would you think of the Randolphs if they jumped ship? I know what I would think . IF that were to happen

Anonymous said...

I am told of great irregularities at Bolton High precincts with many voters having to vote 3 times but I don't know if any of it is true. I would really like to see something reverse the Dist. 2 result which was much closer that Dist. 4

Anonymous said...

There would definitely be a runoff between Roy and Roosevelt. The winner of the election must get 51% of the vote.

Anonymous said...

Since we are talking about preventing voting or multivoting in the city wide races also, any registered city voter or any candidate would be a proper party to bring an action to void the election. I don't look for the council to try this time since they are contented with the outcome and want Brewer on the second floor.

Anonymous said...

wasnt it the town talk that reported not too long ago that it was councilman hobbs and his committee that were the ones that were more or less responsible for the high utility bills because they didnt lock in the most favorable prices when they had the chance? thats why we expected councilman hobbs to lose.

Anonymous said...

There were ample reasons to toss all three of the council bums out but here we are and there they are and they have to feel absolutely invincible - hell, they are.

Anonymous said...

It doesn't matter if Brewer decides to drop out today, tomorrow, or three weeks from now. If the official count on Tuesday still has her in the lead, then it's her and Roy in the run-off.

She can't just drop out now... and hand second place to Roosevelt. The only way for Roosevelt to make it at this point is if we discover on Tuesday he picked up at least eighteen votes on Brewer.

Anonymous said...

dont be surprised if that happens.

Anonymous said...

You people are too much. Speculating that Delores may drop out? Are you all on drugs?? Too many martinis?? Please tell me some of Jacques plans for the city and please be specific. He hasn't been specific in his campaign. Transparency, etc. Tell me how, Jacques.

Anonymous said...

we were talking about councilman johnson picking up 18+ votes tuesday. we dont think ms. brewer will withdraw.

Anonymous said...

SCARLETT...you wake up yet?

Anonymous said...

"The winner of the election must get 51% of the vote."

Actually, it is 50% plus one vote.

Anonymous said...

After the count is official Brewer can fall out and Roy is the Mayor. Civics 101 - Bolton High

Anonymous said...

The 51% is to win it out right in the primary. If second place concedes it is over.

Hard to believe people know so little about the election process.

Anonymous said...

If Delores keeps her 17 vote lead after the machines are opened on Tuesday, that knocks Roosevelt out for good. Under that scenario, even if Delores decided to bow out after Tuesday, that does not make Roosevelt bump up to a runoff position. If Delores keeps her lead and then gets out, Roy becomes mayor. Roosevelt's only hope is to find at least 18 votes when the machines are open. Then he could run off with Jacques.

Anonymous said...

Well, remember, this was the first hotly contested primary we had in twenty years.

MUST HAVE BEEN AFTER JOHN SAMS TOOK OVER BOLTON!!!!

Anonymous said...

I still think an official concession before the official result puts Johnson in 2nd place. On the other hand, quite a lot would have to happen to get Charles F. Smiff in the runoff - Perhaps a plague or other disaster of biblical proportions. Then Roy could concede and Smith becomes mayor. Smith then becomes disabled and the new president of the council, Lawson, becomes mayor. He then appoints Kelvin as his chief of staff and Bridget as ambassador to Scotlandville. I think we have a plan.

Anonymous said...

Is Scarlett still crying at brewer headquarters? Where is she with all of her "hahahaha"s and i told you so's"?
As for Jacques plans for the city , go to his website or simply wait for the debate with brewer who, "again leading with her chin" in interview last night welcomed a debate with Jacques in public. Talk about an alltime mismatch with Jacques well articulated plans and delores "misspeaks and figures of speech" in an open television debate. Unfortuneately, unlike the wizard of oz , there will be no little man giving her the answers like at her wine and cheese fundraisers.

Anonymous said...

You people are being comical again. Delores and Provosty firm have not cut a deal with the blacks. Delores is not their candidate. There's not going to be a deal cut by Brewer or anyone in her camp. Brewer will look at the race and decide whether to proceed or not. I predict she'll have a bright future either way. I think if the mayor thing doesn't work out, she will get a great private sector job.

Anonymous said...

Sams wasn't even alive when I took civics at Bolton. If a candidate does not get 51% of the votethe two candidates receiving the most votes meet in a run-off. Now if one drops out the other is automatically elected.

Dayum your stupidity is amazing. If your scenario is so Red Hammonds still stands a chance.

Anonymous said...

" I still think an official concession before the official result puts Johnson in 2nd place."

You're wrong.

Anonymous said...

ya maybe ms. brewer can get a paralegal gig at provosty-sadler.

TO ANONYMOUS 8:15 p.m.:
I don't know if you are from Roy's camp or you are jealous, unhappy, disgruntled Brewer supporters. But you are making hateful statements out of turn. I have known the Brewers and Randolph's for a long, long time and I think that's what you said is ridiculous. The choices are: 1) Delores stays in and runs it off, or 2) she sees she can't win and pulls out.

Anonymous said...

Some of you are getting desparate. The race is over. There are no counting "errors" anymore. The recount will just confirm what the hard drives transfered to the Secretary of State's office. Brewer will concede within a week. Blacks are not going to go vote for a republican because Albin tells them to. Jaques beat her at ASH and Nachman. Do any of you know what that means? The 4 votes she got at Peabody were probably mistakes made by those 4 voters.

Anonymous said...

So anon 9:45 you would agree with me that if Debra drags Ned over to the Roy camp that it would be pretty shitty. Right? You would agree with me on that ...right?

Anonymous said...

Yes, I WOULD agree with that . Delores has not changed since they endorsed her months ago. The politics have changes as far as her chances but if we just jump sides for the purpose of being on a winning team then we were not very good people to start with. Ticks jump from dog to dog Not real friends.

Anonymous said...

look for BIG red in the Roy camp...she is hunting a paycheck

Anonymous said...

Big red as in Hammonds? What the hell can she offer? Love?...that big red?
