One Week Left ...

Sorry citizens, I was out of town for the past week. Although I have yet to peruse your vast comments, I have been told that there is an interest into the ownership of this blog. So I have decided to drop a few hints. I am a tall individual of small stature, I am a heavy light weight with light dark hair. I am a Democrat with severe conservative views and a Republican with liberal views. I am plainly who I am ... in short I am you.

Soothsayer - Anyone ever tell you you are full of crap! DB planned to win this election from the beginning. I am really sad the campaign has taken this negative turn. I will say til the bitter end that Roy started all of this negative aspect of the campaign. He still is not telling the truth about the push polls. He started them and is running them now, or he was last week. This fella is not a shiny clean nickel.

I have changed the link to the Advocate ... chuckle ... I grabbed the wrong link ... It now actually takes you the Baton Rouge paper ... Well no one can complain that this blog is not diverse ...

I normally consider Sooth Sayer to be a painful thumb in the eye of rational fair-minded people so it is with great pain that I feel compelled to reproduce his post on the previous thread. I don't know if it's true but it would make a good TV movie (theme song of "Don't Cry for Me, Alexandria" sung by Roseanne)

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I have emerged from consultation with other voices in Cenla and they tell me that Brewer knew from the night of the primary election that she had no hope of winning the run-off. She felt that she had been positioned by the “powers that be” to become the first female mayor of Alexandria. Sources also tell me that she had already planned her 2007 agenda for LMA visits to other mayors out of town. She believed that she had the election in hand. Her handlers did not count on another credible white candidate in the race. They discounted Sams as un-electable.

When Roy entered the race and shot into the lead, the Brewer camp panicked. With no real political advisor to lead them, they floundered. Their Florida political expert was blindsided by the aggressive style of Louisiana politics. The Brewer camp had resigned to a 4th place finish and had actually prepared a statement for her to read on election night reflecting her poor finish. The Breweristias were shocked that she made the run-off, but knew that the Roy campaign was digging for the truth and would be relentless in exposing her.

She felt that her rightful place as Mayor had been stolen by Roy and others who should never have been in the race to begin with. On the advice of Albin, the camp decided to get rid of the Florida wonder boy and hire Roy Fletcher. They decided to make the Cleco issue a “poison pill” that could be used against Jacques in the campaign, and structure the issue so no matter how it ended up, Roy would be the political goat. If the COA wins, the voters don’t get what they should because the “other pigs” got their cut. If the COA loses, it’s because Roy was Mayor and didn’t fight hard enough for the voters.

Delores also wants to trash Bridgett because she made a fool of Delores on local TV.

The whole ad campaign is to set the table for the next 4 years, not the election next week. Delores knows she will never sit in the Mayor’s chair and is allowing her campaign to be used to destroy Jacques and his political future.

Survey says….. The Brewer people are indeed toothless lions of the past. Although their campaign tactics are clever, they rely on Jacques stumbling his way through his first 3 years. They will then attack him and try to elevate an alternate candidate during the next election cycle. Their plan falls apart should Jacques turn out to be an effective mayor. The biggest flaw in their plan is the memory of the voters. The Cleco affair will be settled by spring of 2007 and forgotten by 2010. Look for continued attacks from the old lions, however, they will prove ineffective. Soon the old lions will be relegated to the ash heap of history.

The feathers and bones have spoken.

From the last thread:

I must decline, Anon 9:34:36 AM. I have a terribly busy schedule – hair appointment to hide all my “blue hairs” and whatnot. But, damn you, your invitation put a song in my head. I won’t shake it for the rest of the day. Paste this:

Obviously, I’m dating myself while trying to, um, triangulate. ;->

Anonymous said...

Beth - That was not an invitation. It was a question as to where your loyalties lie.

Anon 9:50:13, Oct 31, last thread. You did mis read the Audit Report, it was done by the Legislative Auditor not the Attourney General. It did not state that any individal was responsible for the Cost Share Agreement policy, but that the City Admin and Council had instituted a policy that did not follow the Public Bid laws and did not advertise the ordinance and contracts for the cost share as required by state law. A clear failure of the City legal department ( Kelvin Sanders) and the City Clerk, not the three Amigos.
You should at least read the Audit which is available on the Legislative Auditors Web Site before you post inacurate coments.
Another thing developers do not install electric systems in the City of Alexandria unless they want underground electric utilities. Then they pay for the difference in cost between overhead and underground. This is usually accomplished by the City furnishing the conductor to be placed in the Developer installed conduit, setting the City furnished pad mounted transformers and terminating the connections to the transformers.

Woof - Puleeez. What a waste of space. Write a book for your useless meanderings.

If you are Brewer supporter or just not a Roy supporter, plan to be attacked in any way they can think of. This group is like the Mafia. If you don't support their candidate or even their views, you are threatened and accused of being a criminal. They purport that your life will never be the same. This is America Roy camp. We can speak freely and support whomever we choose without threats and degradation. At least, that's the way it's supposed to be.

To the unwashed cretin who posted this drivel, I did not voice any support for Roy in my post. Also, I never said Brewer entered this campaign without an intention to win. She did, however, look at the poll numbers and take the pulse of the voting public. Afterwards her handlers forced her to face the reality that her anointing would never take place. From that point on the focus shifted from getting her elected to getting revenge.

As to your personal opinion about Roy, you are indeed entitled to it. However you might want to pen a disclaimer along with your next post, warning others that yours is the opinion of a knuckle dragging, semi-human, of limited intelligence.

Anonymous said...

First let me apologize for typing Attorney General instead of Legislative Auditor. We have been back and forth between the two lately on this blog and I - to borrow from Delores - "mistyped."

I have read the report - in fact more than once. And for the record, Darrell and Sonny would have been in the forefront of any public bid documents don't you think? Would they not have needed to work up the specifications and made sure their departments followed the public bid laws rather than simply signing off on procedures they knew were not correct? It is not true that department heads develop fact sheets to bring to Council for approval? I cannot honestly believe Kelvin Sanders develops every single fact sheet for every department to get approval from the Council. The 3 had their roles to play, as did the City Attorney, Council and Mayor in this embarassment.

As for the installation of utilities at North Park - are we to believe the $36K plus was for the installing cunduit, setting pad transformers and terminating the connectionns?

i think delores is getting better. "yeah, i broke my pledge, so what? i am a liar"

Anonymous said...

I wanted to be the first female mayor of Alexandria but my own campaign manager screwed my chances. "I tried to take the high road and look where it got me." So, I broke my promise because he said I was too nice. Then he said I broke my promise because I just changed my mind, you know, like every other lady. He was so right! Us ladies just can't ever make up our minds and think for ourselves. Wait, no...Um, what? ? He said it was okay for my to break my promise to the voters!

Anonymous said...

Now we know the truth about Delores - she will break the promises she has made while campaigning. If she broke the pledge to not go negative, what promise will she break if she is elected? Could it be that stupid pledge she signed to get rid of all the contingency contracts? You know the pledge that we all know she has no power to do anything about?

Come on Delores what promises will you break and what promises will you keep? Hey Michelle - why not ask that question during your "conversation" with the candidates?

Anonymous said...

Brelores Dewer... hahahaha... GENIUS!

Anonymous said...

I don't believe Delores the Dumbass said her campaign manager - David Broussard - is the one who kept her from winning - I believe she implied her campaign strategist - the almight god from Florida is the one who made her "too nice" and now the whore Fletcher is turning her into her "evil twin."

There is a difference between a strategist and a manager, although I am not sure what that is. I for one cannot believe David is still taking a paycheck from Delores.

What was that crap DB was talking aobut this morning with Lee "The Midget" Fletcher? She says Antoon, Luneau, Roy Sr. and former judge Lee picked JR as their 4th choice to be mayor. Who says they get to pick? What makes her think that is true? Who were the first three? Does DB really have a tick on her face? Who cares about any of this?

thats odd because mr roy in his 11 august 2006 kalb video blog said:

Anonymous said...

She says Antoon, Luneau, Roy Sr. and former [J]udge Lee picked JR as their 4th choice to be mayor. Who says they get to pick? What makes her think that is true?

Because that’s how the system works. It’s called candidate recruitment and powerbrokers, of all stripes and varieties, do the recruiting. Nothing, whatsoever, is new here.

Anonymous said...

Anyone ever tell you you are full of crap!

Yet another intelligent argument.

Anonymous said...

I happen to know that this "Power Broker" horseshit about Roy is another fantastic fabrication by the chronically dishonest Brewer campaign. I no longer attribute these low-rent tactics to the Republicans because I am reminded that there are people like Beth Levy, et al, who honorable patriots who abhore Brewer's methods. I was there at the outset and Jacques was moved to run by friends and colleagues of all party and age and profession. What's more, I have had conversations with Provosty and John Brewer and Delores Brewer and they all know that this is a complete lie fabricated out of whole cloth by those desparate folks at Brewer headquarters.

The Brewer campaign is doing incredible harm to the peace and tranquility of the productive elements on Alexandria and one has to conclude that they are, in every respect, amoral.

This really boils down to good versus bad people.

Anonymous said...

Well, Woof, you got one thing right in that last statement. This is about good and bad. The bad being people who try to blackmail people into supporting their candidate or maybe even themselves. As mentioned earlier, if you don't support Roy, you are threatened and bashed and called everything under the sun. Just look back at the archives of this blog. Individuals are called horrible names and attempts are made to make them look like criminals. It's pretty easy to see who the bad people are.

Anonymous said...

The more I converse with my acquaintances, the more I believe that the final days of this campaign will be nothing more than Brewer swimming in the swill and attempting to pull Roy in with her.

It has become too disgusting to watch.

Fortunately I have the ability to escape the putrid aroma of Alexandria politics and go trout fishing in Arkansas.

See you all after November 7th.

Biff, mind the store while I am away, but remember to wear your rubber boots, it will get deep.

10 minutes for Delores to tell us how much wants to be Mayor
2 minutes for some HIXON Ford commercial
and you have time for one comment from our next Mayor.....

Kalb should just say they did and don't
The damn BUSINSESS LEAGUE made a more credible effort....this is a joke . You gave some NIMROD 3 minutes yesterday to tell us he is running for Congress....right. I thought KALB was trying to change their reputation. Hey Michelle admit how much of a minimilistic JOKE your effort really is.

Aw, c’mon Woof. You know, very well, that both Brewer and Roy were recruited, whatever their positions on the respective lists. Occasionally, someone pops up and decides to run for office on his/her own, but that happens very infrequently. Nevertheless, read Wesawthat’s comment (2:46:11 PM)) and you’ll see Roy admits to being recruited in his interview with Michele Godard. He doesn’t use the term, but he admits it, nonetheless. Recruitment, Woof, doesn’t necessarily fall along political party lines, but it’s still recruitment and there's nothing wrong with it. In fact, being recruited should be a point of pride.

Anon 2:56:49 PM, yep, many have told me I’m full of it. Invariably, they were proven wrong.

"Yes Billy Boy, BUT, this property was originally out of the City limits and would have been served by Cleco."

NOT SO! There are numerous laws which dictate which utility may serve a new customer based on proximity to the new development. All the laws a weighted heavily in favor of municipals. The fact that the City serves Mr. Allen's development is perfectly legal.

"Instead it was brought into the City, the City put it's money in for infrastructure and is now reaping the benefit of doing so. Problem here is NOT EVERY DEVELOPER GETS THAT LUXURY. Most developers put their own freaking electricity in. They only cost share when they want something special like underground utilities."

NOT SO!! Every developer gets that "luxury." The City has been putting in underground utilities for years without a "cost-share" arrangement.

The real story about Rotary today--Judge Davidson is the speaker chairman for this month and due to the negative campaigning he wanted a chance to brief the candidates about the Rotary rules prior to their scheduled presentations. (Rotary does not allow campaigning--so they were going to be instructed to talk about issues.) However, Judge Davidson couldn't reach them to brief them, so he cancelled the program and scheduled something else. Delores is a member, so she was there with Roy Fletcher as her guest. KALB-TV did not get a phone call regarding the change in program and went live at noon with Goddard reporting that Jacques Roy didn't show up.

Anonymous said...

ah, how special. just got a letter from delores. "last, let me say that i have never used my job with the city to try to enrich either my family, friends or myself, and i can promise you that i will never do it in the future". she's a riot!

Anonymous said...

but how did mr roy know not to show up if judge davidson couldnt reach the candidates? and why wasnt the candidates briefed in advance (like last week) on the rotary clubs rules?
somethings not adding up.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, yeah, yeah....this man is a judge and he waited til late yesterday afternoon to decide he needs to go over the rules of Rotary forums with the candidates? Right. Roy just didn't want to face Delores Brewer in front of all of those business people. I don't understand why. He comes often with David Pugh as a guest. He should be comfortable by now.

Anonymous said...

NOT SO!! Every developer gets that "luxury." The City has been putting in underground utilities for years without a "cost-share" arrangement.

Not true in Fairview subdivision. New home buyers were assured that there would be below ground utitilities. When Roth-Nelson, the subdeveloper, went kaput, the City said they could do it. So almost 20 years later, all of that subdivision, off of Versailles Blvd. still does not completely have underground electricity.

Anonymous said...

Or it could be Fairfield.

Anonymous said...

Was fletcher really at rotary with delores? How were they received?

Anonymous said...

Everything was normal at Rotary today. Delores is a respected member who has been President of Rotary. These are professional business people not street gangs.

Anonymous said...

U been snooted. What a condescending answer. I feel like a little negro oinker.

Anonymous said...

Rotarians would never be rude to anyone--even if they disagree with that person's politics. That being said, it is quite often the case that a strong frontrunner declines forums and debates. So, personally, I think that if Roy put the brakes on the appearance, he did the right thing. He should not appear with someone who compares him to a rapist. That would be giving her respect she doesn't deserve.

Is it ethical for Rick Ranson to speak out about what took place in an executive session when he was on the city council? On Moon Baffoon this a.m. Mrs. Brewer said Rick Ranson knows all of her rants regarding CLECO and the attorneys', etc to be factual because he was there, including in an executive session when CLECO case was discussed. Delores also promised that if she's elected, she will return $500 back per utility customer after CLECO settles with the city. She also said that she believes the city council and Bridgett Brown will try to hurry and settle the case before she takes office so that she wouldn't get a chance to tear up the contingency fee contracts. LOL--HAHAHAHA First, the case is before a federal judge. No one can push him to "hurry and settle the case." Second, how can she promise to return $500 each to utility customers when she's not even sure if the judge will find that CLECO owes the city money? This woman has lost touch with reality or simply does not know how to speak the truth, IMHO.

Anonymous said...

I heard Rick Ranson visited with the Jacques Roy team after Sept. 30 to gauge if there was any interest in hiring him as chief of staff. Must want to be chief of staff pretty badly if he's shopping candidates. Must have gotten the wrong answer since he's back in Brewer camp.

Anonymous said...

Let's see, first Brewer claims SHE was running the city as chief of staff. Then, when asked why she would allow the city to enter contracts she claims are illegal she changed her story to say that she did not have the authority to do anything about it. Which is it? She can't have it both ways.

Anonymous said...

Why would Rick want to be an underling in the Mayor's administration when he has a pretty cush job right now?

Anonymous said...

Why is the post time ahead by six minutes?

Anonymous said...

It is a ploy by the Brewer campaign. If they can speed up the clock they can be out of their misery just a little bit sooner.

Anonymous said...

Shucks, Fern that's not the worst of it. Mrs. Brewer knocked on my door in Charles Park and I asked her in to chat. We talked for a while, and then I asked her why she said what she did to Bridget Brown at the city council. Mrs. Brewer told me that she was not at liberty to discuss the meeting at the city council that day, because her boss, Ned told her not to. She said he told her to lie if asked. Well I doubted her story and it really disturbed me, so I called Mayor Randolph and as I suspected, he vehemently denied instructing her to do that. He told me that he would never tell an employee to withhold the truth. He said that he had every right to meet with those Baton Rouge attorneys and he did'nt owe any one an explanation about it and certainly didn't have to try to cover it up. I have always known him to be an honorable man. I believe him over Mrs. Brewer any day of the week. I'll tell you, there is something seriously wrong with that woman, Fern.

Anonymous said...

I understand that there is to be a press conference at City Hall with the Mayor on Friday morning. Anyone know what that is about?

Anonymous said...

Fern: Durn, she can so have it both ways. Ms. Peak said one thing one day and changed her mind the next. She told her niece that if they had balls he'd be his uncle. She's Delores the woman who does feminine things like play fickle with the truth. It's alright to lie cause Roy made me do it. He was mean before our agreement so I could renig when I wanna. He told the truth when he caught me lying, so I can lie about him when he told the truth. Just my feminine logic. Don't hold me to high standards, or any standards for that matter. They just get in my way. I wanna be Mayor, I wanna be Mayor, I wanna be Mayor and I'll hold my breath until I'm blue in the face 'til I get my way. I was annointed and that's that. So there!

Anonymous said...

Getting a pretty clear indication here about why da mayor don't want no part of this campaign anymore. Brewer and Provosty tried to do a real number on him.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Ned will endorse Roy.

Anonymous said...

I thought renig had something to do with the Houston Oilers?

Anonymous said...

Or would that be the Houston Oinkers?

Anonymous said...

I can't believe Roy is afraid of little ol' Delores Brewer. What are you afraid of Roy? Cat got your tongue Roy?

Anonymous said...

Maybe the mayor's press conference is to announce that the audit of CLECO has been completed and Judge Dee Drell has ruled that the city owes CLECO money instead of the other way around LOL, hahaha. Drell will also issue a ruling stating that Delores Brewer is filled with unbridled "blonde ambition."

Anonymous said...

ha ha ha, thanks for the laugh! "Blonde Ambition" Wasn't that a Madonna Tour?

Anonymous said...

Why in the cotton pickin world would Roy be afraid of Delores Brewer? LOL--- You are pathetic. Roy could sleep walk into a forum and do better than Brewer did on her very best day. I predict Roy will learn more in one month on the job than Brewer did in 16 years on the job. If anyone should be frightened, it should be Brewer--because her future isn't looking so bright. But, she's obviously oblivious to the fact that she is about to embarass herself, bigtime.

Anonymous said...

DB should adopt a brown piglet from Avoyelles parish and all will be well in this election.

Anonymous said...

Wouldn't it be more equitable to refund any CLECO money to us based on the mount of electricity we paid for? The more we paid, the more we were overcharged then, right? If Delores givers $500 each, across the board, that sounds like an attempt to buy votes.

Anonymous said...

Anon. 8:49:25
I think endorsements are bullshit. Plus, Roy doesn't need Ned's endorsement. But hey I do think the TT should interview Ned to discuss some of Mis-speak's wacko rantings and ravings about the CLECO stuff. I gotta think he disagrees with her assessment of things.

That 35 year old lawyer has shown more class since he buried everyone in the primary than anyone ever deserved to expect. The conversaton that I heard at Rotary was how the patrician junior league maven had displayed all of the class and poise of a roller derby grunt, while the young trial lawyer with cajun culture and blood has acted about twice as poised as Winston Churchill.

Class will always out. Mrs. Roy and their spectacular smiling daughter makes us feel proud and hopeful. Compare her to Roseanne who looks and sounds like she should be restocking the after-midnight breakfast bar at Shoneys.

Thank you Jacques.

Regardless, please come to Roy's cochon de lait after the trouncing so we can all have a good laugh about how you systematically made Db lower than a snake's belly.

I didn't buy anything, but was with a family member when they prucjased a home in the not fully developed subdivision in 1988. Several times, in the `990's, in inquired, on their behalf, with the City about underground electricity. I was told by, possibly Dorsey (but am not sure it was he) that the residents on those street would have to pay the cost of underground power. But, I will ask again, based upon whay you say.

Anonymous said...

Get off of Fletcher's ass. He was handed a wad of money and a sow's ear (see commercial) and he fashioned the best chance that a person with Delores's enormous negatives, limitations, and handicaps, could have. He started with a pile of shit and you give him 5 weeks to convert it to the Mona Lisa. Not likely.

He is not responsible for the long term ramifications of this misadventure. That's not what political consultant's do. Friends and social workers and family are suppose to worry about what all this will mean in the broad scope of things and they are the ones that failed and are failing Delores so miserably.

Can you almost write a theatrical play about the day after the election when Delores arrives on the second floor to take back her job as Chief of Staff > Can you almost write the dialogue for Debra as Delores tries to meet with Ned. Could be a intersting comedy.

Dumbass, what part of I didn't buy the house did you not understand? Also, the subddvision was developed in the late 80's-early 90's and the homes sold new. In fact, all but one, maybe two, streets in that subdivsion have underground electricity.

Anonymous said...

OK, so when did Mr. Aymond buy this house?

db's cief of staff choice rick ranson is directly responsible for this fleecing of the city - while on the city council, his bank bldg was purchased by city for millions - now it's another white elephant - as chief of db's staff, citizens can expect more insider sweetheart deals;

meanwhile, db and ranson break the law by revealing council executive session info for political gain - ironic that both are critical of previous decisions, both were in the thick of things at the time - and remarkably - neither shoudl be held accountable?

New utility office, same problems
Your Mail

A word to the wise: Avoid the new utility office in Alexandria at all costs. I was there the day it opened, and it was the same as the old office, only more cave like with the dark walls and subdued lighting. There were five people behind the counter, two of them waiting on customers. While I stood in line behind seven others, a third window was opened so the line moved faster. I gave them the benefit of a doubt since it was their first day open. But then I had to go back this Monday only to have to wait in the street to turn in, then wait in line behind two other cars to wait for other customers to leave just to get parked. Once inside, there was just one person on duty but luckily only three in line.

The parking is horrific! There is only one end open to exit the parking lot, and since the parking is tight, many people have to maneuver their way out of their parking space. If possible, it is even worse than the old Jackson Street location. I can only assume that all of the cars in the lot belong to city employees, since the lobby was empty. Maybe we need another multi-level parking garage for employees only. Anyone out there got any dilapidated property the city could buy for a couple million? The city goofed on this one. (I'm not surprised.)

mickey, not to worry. we can just buy silver's building.

At the time the subdivision in question was built, the developer could choose underground or not. Even with the City putting in the main lines, it does add a minor cost to the builder. That developer choose overhead. Current policy is to offer underground only. That was then this is now, get over it.

Anonymous said...

I thought that the city made some kind of swap with the Parish to give them the old util. bldg. on Jackson and they would give city the row of shanties right accross Johnston St. I have been told of some city ideas that include cutting an entrance to the Regions lot from Murray which would make a terrible situation impossible. Of course, they could make things better by having the employees and staff of the city building park elsewhere but when have they ever done that.

There has got to be more on the Rick Ranson story but no one has heard it from him. I don't believe it. I am told that Delores, on rare occassions, will resort to telling a fib.

Anonymous said...

I am told that Rick has absolutely no intention of working in the Brewer Admin. for two reasons:
there ain't gonna be one; and he has a job and a life that is making him happy and rich.

He says he may have given Delores permission to say that she had offered and he will "consider" the appointment but that was to throw a rope to a drowning campaign. He is distancing himself from Delores because of her tactics, or prognosis, and the fact that Regions does not need a truck load bad will for it's bank.

Delores lies.

Anonymous said...

I am told by an unsuccessful candidate for the Council that Ranson gave him some sage advice:

"Whenever anybody from the City of Alexandria tells you anything ALWAYS assume that it is a lie."

He says that that has borne out to be reliable wisdom and guidance, including, among other things, things said by Ranson.

Ranson quit at the top of his game and was beloved and missed and quoted and lionized because of it. He, for some reason, decided to forgo his undeservedly squeaky public image and reputation to become involved with Delores. I doubt he ever saw his affilliation become so costly in terms of image, reputation, and friendships. Things were simpler when it was just Brewer and Sams.

I suspect old Ned will take care of Mrs. Brewer himself. Last time I talked to him, he was pretty upset with her. Said he keeps hearing her on radio, etc slamming the administration and getting reports of her slamming him when she goes door to door.

Anonymous said...

Left out the most important part. Debra wasn't there when I talked to Ned.

Anonymous said...

You guys love to speak for other people and claim to know what they'll do in the future. Interesting. You got a crystal ball or something? Mine says Brewer's pride will keep her from showing back up at city hall once she loses. It's mayor or nothing.

Anonymous said...

My guess, pride doesn't seem to be Delores's long suit. Just because she is soundly rejected by her public doesn't mean that she had have to endure life without her email recipe collection.

Classic Brewer, IMHO, would be to show up at city hall and tell the admin. and council:
I didn't say that; or
Somebody else made me say that; or
Bridget Brown made that up; or
She is a victim of a vast conspiracy of the "usual suspects" who have victimized her and cast her aside as thought she were an amoral, sleezy, lying, unethical, no-class, double-crossing, back-stabbing, (you finish this one up).

If she is tasteless enough to go I hope she takes a taxi because she will probably find John Flynn's car in her former parking spot.

Ned, bless his heart, certainly surrounded himself with creeps.

Why did Jacques decline to speak at Rotary yesterday?

I also heard that he won't be doing the 2 hour call-in on KSYL.

Why? Is he scared? What is he hiding from? Shouldn't a leader be able to face the music?

Anonymous said...

What 2 hour call in on KSYL?

They didn't outwardly turn into creeps (or at least give themselves away) until they A. wanted to choose his replacement and chose someone who is so in over her head that she snapped and B. Thought their meal tickets were at risk.

about Rotary: Jacques had a conflict and could not show up and told DAvidson this, who told me! So he's not afraid to face her, he just was unable to be there.

Anonymous said...

Maybe its because he's going to get over 70% of the vote on Tuesday?

Anonymous said...

Jacques had a conflict allright. He had conflicting advice. This forum had been scheduled for over a month! He decided at the last minute he couldn't face the music or he was afraid something might happen that would cost him votes. IMHO...it was probably the latter. This BS about Jacques having a conflict is just that...BS.

Same reason Ned didn't appear at forums or debate with Alice Hammond during the past two elections for mayor.

Anonymous said...

Same reason as Ned, meaning, when you are ahead and you have a high favorable rating, you don't have accept forums and debates. You can stick to the high road and get yourself elected.

Anonymous said...

If I were Roy, I'd have a conflict alright--anything but appearing with that ranting and raving woman who's running against him. Why dignify her mis-speaks and crazy accusations with his presence in the same forum. He has chosen to do the Ch. 5 appearance. That is enough.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone have to say anything else about who is the "bad" in this election? Rick Ranson is a decent gentleman who works hard for his family and spent many years in honorable service for this city. Now, he is a questionable, lowlife individual, according to the Roy supporters. Why???? Because he happens to be a friend of DB tries to help her. This slash and burn tactic on anyone who does not support Roy is going to come back and bite not only you, but also your candidate.

Anonymous said...

Anon Tuesday 11:27:17. You still got it wrong. Cost share agreements are contracts between the City of Alexandria and the developer in question, they are not bid documents. There is a big difference. So the review of bid documents by Delores, Sonny , and Darrell is not part of the Cost Share process. I don't know what the $36 K for North Point was for but I know it was not for installing Electric Utilities. It could have been for streets or water or sewer inprovements in excess of what was needed to serve North Point.

I would bet that Roy does not condone picking on Rick Ranson. Can't stop some supporters from going overboard on anonymous blogs.

WHAT EVAH

Anonymous said...

I'm a Roy supporter and a friend of Ranson's. Rick is a good guy, not all Roy supporters hold this against him.

Anonymous said...

I beg to differ. Ranson inserted Ranson into the dialogue in the mayor's race and Delores has tried to elevate his reputation, whatever it really now is or should be, into a central issue. I am not aware that Ranson has spoken out on this point but I assume that you will concede this:

If Ranson is part of a diversionary tactic by specifically permitting Delores to mislead the public into thinking he is truly considering an appointment in a Brewer administration, and in fact, would not accept the "position" then he is an active part of a lie, is permitting his name to be used to mislead the public, and is an active mover in the Brewer philosophy of "the end, however chickenshit, justifies the means".

Rick will get his, one way or the other.

Anonymous said...

Soooooo much ado about nothing. Who in the hell cares about who was or was not at Rotary? How lame.

I really wish all of these blog contributions would be published by the TT so everyone could see what type of dictatorial and vindictive supporters Roy has.

Anonymous said...

The Brewer camp is so dayum desperate for something to stick to the wall now Roy raped Brewers pigs at the Rotary Club. Screw the Rotary Club. What difference does it make whether or not he attended the Rotary Club meeting. Stop with the assinine shit and dwell on the important issues. She is a dayum mind changing liar who set femine equality back a zillion years. She is a "lady" so therefore can willy nilly change her mind. Next she will have invented the intranet.

Stop with the diversionary crap and stick with the issues. I don't give a dayum who gives a speech at a Klan meeting, hog roast, lions club meeting or whatever.

I am sure he didn't attend the last tea of the Garden District Flower association. Has nothing to do with who can or cannot steer this ship called Alexandria. She can't. She has proven that.

Anonymous said...

Waterslide,

I'm so sure this "Rotary fiasco" will be the so-called nail in the coffin for Roy. If the Rotary members refuse to vote for Roy purely based on the fact that he wasn't at their little meeting, then they don't deserve to be business leaders in our community in the first place. Also, I doubt that Roy would lose simply because a handful of business people decided to give their votes to Delores (assuming you're right about this, which is laughable) Rotary antics aside, have you been paying attention at all since the primary? Delores has been sinking lower & lower every week and will be lucky to get more than 30% of the votes. I think she had a fighting chance until she brought Roy Fletcher on board.

Anonymous said...

I think she had a fighting chance until she brought Roy Fletcher on board.

How right you are. As I recommended earlier, whoever advised Fletcher’s hire should be flogged.

Anonymous said...

No one is being vindictive. One can't take an active part in a dishonest slash & burn, no-limits campaign like this and not expect there to be some economic or professional or social consequence. Delores's campaign has virtually erased the possiblity that the fallout from this campaign will end on Nov. 7th. Rick is a smart guy and is making his choices and taking his chances like the rest of us. His problem is that the Brewer campaign made the emotional stakes so high. If you were Jacques Roy, how would you feel about those who tried to destroy your family and reputation through lies?

Anonymous said...

Not necessarily, Dizzy. Many think that the prudent thing to do after the primary was to bail and save herself but once that was removed as a choice, they had to find some strategy that might reverse the huge trend toward Roy. If Roy had not maintained his cool in the face of this sewer onslaught and if he had reacted as hoped and jumped in the pit with them, they could have had real contest. None of us know that Roy was this smart and this cool.

Anyway, Delores gambled and lost. Unfortunately she chose a course what will make it impossible to pick up the piecse.

Anonymous said...

I am a Roy supporter and lots of my friends are as well. Most of them are also friends with Rick, I know the Rick bashing is not coming from them. Who would stand to gain from making Rick an issue? You guessed it DB and Roy Flecther. Who would have thunk it?

"You got a crystal ball or something? Mine says Brewer's pride will keep her from showing back up at city hall once she loses."

Of course, she could always find a new mode of transportation.

Anonymous said...

I appreciate your thinking, Anon 11:53:35 AM, but I have to disagree with the “bailing” aspect. While it may have been prudent for Brewer, in terms of a pure, political calculus, it wasn’t an option, in terms of human nature. In most cases, the driving emotion is to take the risk, no matter how seemingly imprudent, so that one might look back on the experience without the nagging “What if…?” question.

While I think your overall assessment has merit, I know that many in the Brewer camp – not insiders, by any means – believe, correctly or incorrectly, that the architect of the strategy you outlined was the Jacques Roy campaign.

In the primary, it supposedly began with a Roy push poll. Brewer unnecessarily took that bait and the food fight began. Parenthetically, addressing challenges, head-on, is requisite, but there are constructive ways to do so. Sadly, that was not Brewer’s approach. Nevertheless, it was hoped she had learned a very bruising lesson and would not overreact, reflexively, in the runoff, should more bait be dangled. Unfortunately, that was a vain hope. The push poll tactic continued and the Roy camp, knowing Brewer is politically naïve and has some bad actors in her midst, expected she would take the bait again, thus allowing the Roy campaign seemingly to take possession of the public high road. What was wholly unexpected was the sheer insanity of the so-called strategy of Brewer’s new consultant and her willingness to go with it.

Who is responsible for the strategy, however, is a moot point. Moreover, both candidates have been sullied and one, now, is facing utter ruin. That begs the question: As a strategy, do negative political ads work? Yes, they do, but how they do is not always readily apparent.

Anonymous said...

“As a strategy, do negative political ads work? Yes, they do, but how they do is not always readily apparent.”

Excellent point, Dizzy.

"I don't know what the $36 K for North Point was for but I know it was not for installing Electric Utilities. "

Then why the hell did the City Council approve an ordinance allowing the City administration to spend $36,801.80 for electrical installation at Union Park? Don't believe me - go read the January 10, 2006 Council minutes and you'll find it yourself. Central Electric was the lowest bidder once the bids were opened. Specifically the ordinance stated to accept the low bid for installation of underground utilities.

Dizzy, I still do not understand why "bailing" was not an option based on the landscape she had to be looking at. Unlike every other mayoral candidate in the race, she had no intact financial or professional structure behind her and it makes little emotional or intellectual sense to bet the farm when it appears you will almost certainly lose the farm. But I guess I am playing "what if" and that is not constructive.

When I consider your argument I become less secure in the outcome of the election. I suffer from frail faith.

I love ya Dizzy, but I have to disagree with you on DB taking the bait in the Primary. She took the high road in the Primary. She did a pushpoll after Roy did his. He denied it, but it came out in the paper that he had paid something like $12,000 dollars on a "Public Opinion Poll". Many of my friends were the recipient of some of those calls. They were very negative. Delores continued to run clean "above the fray" commercials. She lost big time in the Primary. I don't think I would have used the same commercials she has in this run-off, but she probably feels the "high road" didn't get her anywhere in the Primary, so what does she have to lose? I guess we'll see what she has to lose....or gain.

Frail Faith, what happens, happens. Nothing is guaranteed, save for the emotional aspect of running for public office. Political inexperience often sends hard, flinty logic packing.

To Love Ya: Brewer did take the bait in the primary. She never should have run a push poll of her own to counter Roy’s. Further, the print material catfight was absurd, as was the aspersion-casting, televised news spot. Both she and Roy looked childish. Rather than combat accusations and rumors in those ways, Brewer should have utilized her web site with a twice-weekly video blog – friendly conversations; witty, non-vindictive, non-flippant ripostes. The list of how that tool could have been used is endless.

Yes, her TV ads, for the most part, were nice pieces, but they were predictable, humorless and, on balance, very uncreative – bland. TV ads are great tools to present one’s message, to frame the political debate, to highlight one’s personality, to deflect detractions and so on. To do that effectively, however, they need to grab the viewers’ attention. Self-effacing humor and controlled drama do that; “over-the-top,” in either respect, is a recipe for disaster. Therefore, the media consultant needs to be creative and agile, ever mindful that the best defense is a good offense.

Although plodding along the “high road” usually doesn’t cut it, moving along that road, with vigor and wit, almost always does.

Love and kisses,
Donald H. Rumsfeld

P.S. Thank you, Joe Ray Bob, Jr.

Didn't someone say Billy Allen is a Roy fan and a possible for City Attorney? Even if the latter is a joke, here's something more interesting - Dr. Moran is Billy's partner in Union Park - the newest Mobile Home park on Highway 1 North. A place the City of Alexandria put over $36,000 into for electrical utilities. All done while Delores was Chief of Staff. How's that for feeding at the trough Delores?

Tuesday, October 31, 2006 8:21:54 AM

Now I was accused of stating Attorney General instead of Legislative Auditor. Well guess what - The Attorney General issued an opinion the Week of October 16-20 : #05-0375 The Louisiana Public Bid Law is applicable to Development Agreements executed in accordance with La. R.S. 33:4720.21 et seq. when the Agreement requires the Developer to construct certain infrastructure improvement upon public property or upon private property which upon completion, acceptance and dedication to the City the Developer will be reimbursed the costs of the improvements. (McGimsey)

Op to Honorable Edward G. Randolph, Jr., Mayor, City of Alexandria, Alexandria, LA

Date Released: October 20, 2006

This opinion included the Legislative Auditor's Report which was published and acknowledge by the Mayor.

If I typed North Park, it is because there is also a North Park Village on Hwy 1 that has received some utility assistance as well.

My point was regarding Union Park since everyone was making statements about Dr. Moran (Billy Allen's partner) signing a letter of endorsement for Delores. It would appear that he has benefitted from the cost-share development agreements that everyone keeps beating up on Harold Chambers about.

Now have I explained my point asshole?????

Anonymous said...

Well tell me 5:09 why is it a political favor when V&V get something under a cost share agreement?

Anonymous said...

Your point is clear but the conclusion drawn is wrong.

Electrical infrastructure has never been installed under the cost share arrangement. Even if that were true in this case, it meets the LA's requirements because it was publicly bid.

The only difference is that the City did this job with a contractor instead of its own guys.

"I understand that Caplan's long-standing contract for uniforms is on the skids and Weiss & Goldrings will be dressing our city and parish public safety employees now."

Apparently the Silvers will be selling W&G as well since Harry cannot sit on the Council and have a contract with the City, nor according to the Ethics commission can he have a contract with any of the City vendors - I believe that is what they told Chuck about doing printing work for Cleco.

Anonymous said...

OK, let's see--First Mrs. Brewer says she was running the city. Then she said no, she didn't have the ability to stop what she claims are illegal contingency fee contracts that the mayor signed. But they're not really illegal. Then she's going door to door saying the mayor "told her to lie to the city council and Bridgett regarding a meeting in Baton Rouge. Again, not true and everyone knows it. Now, go figure, there's not a Brewer sign in the front of the mayor's house. Oh I wonder why. Hey I'm thinking the Randolph's would be downright fools if they had a Brewer sign in the yard at this point.

No emotion or personal, just fact. Delores lied and never dug herself out of that hole. She also betrayed someone who was a benefactor to her husband and to her. This my purely political assessment and analysis. It would seem that most of her supporters were supporters of Ned's. In fact if it were not for Ned, I doubt if anyone would have ever heard of Delores. Their allegience to Ned over the years was "disrespected" by Delores and I think that most think much less of her for her actions regarding Ned than for her lies. But the basic facts are that lies and biting the hand that fed you are the major factors in her demise.

I'm sure Delores was devastated.

I do believe I recall seeing a powerpoint on how great and wonderful their uniform services are. Gee, maybe that's how this whole big ol' rumor got started.

Where is shotgun Billy when we need the truth?

The mayor told me he was truly upset by the Brewer campaign going negative on the administration and on him. Now he says he is very pissed at Delores. He told me at a function on Saturday night that he believes she is maligning him. He said he's getting calls and e-mails from people who have been visited who are saying she says very negative things about him. He didn't sound like he needed anyone to tell him what Brewer was doing and what to do about it. He has two eyes and two ears. If you don't believe it, do what I did and discuss it with him. Talk to him alone and you will see. Shame on you for blaming your current place in the race on anyone else other than your candidate.
Another thing--
Why would the mayor's race affect Mrs. Randolph's business? That is a dumb thing to say. She is self employed and contracts with clients. Neither Roy nor Brewer in the mayor's seat would have any bearing on her business. Duh, she lobbies the state legislature and members of congress, not the city.

Ok I'm confused. I received a letter from my friend Delores today - well at least it said Dear Friends even though it was only addressed to me and not my husband. In the letter it says she will make sure we, the ratepayers will receive ALL the moeny owed to the city by Cleco, and not allow lawyers and EMS to take 85% of what is mine. In her latest piggy ad she says EMS is getting 50%, Bridgett is getting 10% and the Baton Rouge lawyers are getting 20% - that adds up to 80%. So who's getting the other 5% that I won't be getting if she isn't elected????

We already know EMS is down to 20% and the lawyers had their deal cut as well. I'm just wondering who is running the adding machine over at the Brewer headquarters.

Brewer and Provosty are definately disrespecting Ned. They have shown their true loyalties--which were obviously to one another and to no one else. They make a great mutual USE society. Let em wallow in the mud together. Maybe Rosanne can jump into the mud hole with them and make it really interesting, though a lot less attractive, IMHO.

I think the candidate is running her own numbers over there. Problem is she has a "blonde" moment everytime she tries to understand the contracts and the percentages attached to them. Or, no, I've changed my mind "like ladies do," so I'm gonna say its another mis-speak from Miss Speak!

I predict that one day, Mrs. Brewer will realize that her true friends were the ones who strongly advised her not to run this race off after Sept. 30. I pray that she will also realize how wrong it was to expect to drag Ned and others into her cesspool of a campaign and then become furious at him and at others who wouldn't do her bidding, despite the fact that she cuts down the administration on a daily basis on Moon Griffon, etc. If she fails to take responsibility for her own actions, she will have a tougher time healing after the crushing defeat she is about to experience.

SoulSister,
I hear you, but I'll bet Bridgett Brown ain't worried about no healing process. I think she's gonna open a can of whoop ass on the white woman. Soooey from the Brown piglet...

Yep, you are right. I could tell when B Brown said that she had no comment about the piggy ad that she was mad as hell!! I'm sure there is a plot brewing...

Let me put it another way: No judgment; just analysis. Y’all should have a fabulous time misinterpreting that one. Have fun!
