....Five and one quarter, Five and one half ...

There have been many times where I have pondered shutting down this blog. Each time I have asked friends about doing so they have asked me not to do so, "it has merit" is the usual response. I have watched, ney ... allowed ... personal friends to be maligned by bloggers on this site. I know the intricities of the truth, while others presume to know. I find it disappointing that untruths are posted here. It is unfortunately the nature of the beast. My grandfather would tell me time and again ... "it is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are stupid than open it and prove it". What a wise man my grandfather was ....

I think we are confusing two different and unrelated facts:
1) Aymond is dispicable:
2) Aymond was right about the water district.

We have been so committed to #1 that we are unwilling to consider #2. Right is right and corruption is corruption. And dispicable is dispicable.

Anonymous said...

So Aymond was right. It gets a little old after awhile. He is useing this blog to go on and on and on in his harrassment of the waterworks. It has become a mental thing with it. Accept the fact you have been fired, deal with it and get on with your life before the hate consumes you

Anonymous said...

And, I might add, it doesn't seem as though his crusade is causing anyone but himself any pain. All I have seen so far is a slap on the wrist as far as those that got caught doing unethical things.

So Aymond you won. There, you happy. Ain't nobody going to jail ain't nobody gonna pay a fine, the mayor has his water and the sun shall continue to set over the little town with the world reknowned trash cans "keep Ball(s) clean"

Who is the Alexandria medical dude that is booping the Rep. Princess?

Anonymous said...

We have gone on and on about illegal contracts with the City and lawyers, Rodney Alexander's shennanigans, unethical deal with the City and so forth. I think all corruption should be exposed in this state, no matter where it is located. So carry on Aymond and all others, in exposing corruption.

Anonymous said...

Who are the Alexandria Medical Dude and the Rep Princess? What is that about?

Anonymous said...

Of course, the positive reinforcement to Aymond is always from Aymond but it is my hope that he will not feel the need to drag this in front of us endlessly and daily like he has in the past. He has an "I told you so" coming and he hs collected so maybe he will go away. Don't know how to solve the "dispicabe" problem. Sorry.

Ya know, We Saw That, always had all the markings of a bicycle seat sniffer and he confirmed by suspician by passing judgment on a Town Talk advertiser that he knows a lot about but has never patronized. I think We Saw That might hang near schoolyards.

Lamar has an interesting post that exemplifies the reason for my rantings about he current council and administration prior to the elections just in case anyone thought I was off my rocker. Of course there are more shenanigans than the indiscretions in the report, but at least that much is official as contained in the Legislative audit report.

Anonymous said...

Alexander had a choice to remain loyal to his party, his country and/or his constituents. I think the party is not important, although I find it interesting many more democrats are changing parties, especially in Louisiana. Why do you think that is? I think the national Democratic party has become a totally collectivist, "govt (we) know best what is best for you" entity and many people are afraid of that trend. Republicans at least give lip service to the U.S. as a republic which has as its purpose protecting individual rights. Many in Alex and La. go with the individual rather than the party. That is why Roy (D.) is going to trounce Brewer (R.) Jindal is going to trounce Blanco only because he is perceived to be intelligent, honest and limited gov't inclined. I watch the knee jerk response by yellow dog Democrats and true blue Republicans and feel like I'm at a high school pep rally. Both are just pawns for the big boys in each party who are enjoying the power and money it brings them. The joke"s on the poor drones who just don't get it.

In light of local politics, this may seem a non sequitur, but it isn’t. The last line of the article says it all.

Anonymous said...

To Anon. October 24, 3:22 p.m.
You asked why the city settled with the 3 former employees. Same reason they were ousted. Alban Provosty's legal opinion was that they had to go. Alban's legal counsel later was that the city should settle for what he called "peanuts" and put the matter to rest. He also demanded that the administration never discuss details of the case with the media. It was his show. His and Jock Scott, of course, who represented the 3.

Anonymous said...

I was in a meeting yesterday with a group of local businesswomen. The discussion turned to the Brewer rape ad and the mayor's race. EVERY woman, white and black, said the ad offends them. A couple of them said they had been strong supporters of Brewer at the beginning. But they said that it's not just the ad, it's the press conference, the rants against the current administration, the flip flopping explanations and other behavior, etc. that have convinced them that Brewer lacks the good judgement needed to be mayor. ALL of the other ladies in the group agreed. A few commented that they would be concerned that Mr. Provosty would be running the city if she were elected. They also commented that she would not be able to handle the council. Several made the statement, "Who's advising her? They're giving her very bad advice." Others asked how she would be able to get a job in this town after this? It was a very eye opening and sad conversation. IMHO, there is a small group around Brewer insulating her from the truth. Nov. 7 will be painful for her and her camp.

Anonymous said...

I hear the same thing and it seems logical but I find it hard to believe that Brewer would embrace such a huge mistake in strategy. She, for whatever reason, is resting her whole campaign on that Ad.

Notice that neither side has mailouts or other contact activities. KRAZIE

Anonymous said...

Does anyone else think the timing of the Mayor's request for an audit is strange? I don't even begin to know how the city government works, but it just seems to me that if he were supporting Brewer, who is a part of the administration, he would have waited until after the election.

Anonymous said...

The audit was requested months and months ago when quesionable activities were discovered. These things take time once the Leg. Auditor's office is involved. It was not looked at or "timed" to hit at any particular time, such as election time. There's no control over when the findings are released. The audit was ordered by the mayor because it was needed and it was the right thing to do, IMHO. It has nothing to do with Brewer--other than she was at the city during the time the stuff was going on.

Anonymous said...

Say what you will, but IMHO, the system worked. The mayor and administration discovered irregularities, dealt with the allegedly responsible city employees, then reported to the AG's office and called for an audit by the Legislative Auditor. It may not be pretty, but IMHO, it was the right thing to do. Also, IMHO, it was fine for the mayor to keep quiet until the audit report came out. The media and the public can read it and understand it from an official, impartial finding.

Anonymous said...

I think that this request was made months ago. Nobody could have anticipated her attack upon and estrangement from Randolph in this runnoff, particularly with the Provosty/Lawson factor trying to hold the gang together. This article does point out that while she does have experience in managing city matters, the experience reeks of incompetence, self-dealing, favoritism, and corruption. She should be hiring one of them criminal trial lawyers about now.

This also serves to show that Albin is quick to find misconduct if it gets rid of his enemies.

Anonymous said...

Lawson is not in cahoots with Provosty anymore. You guys are funny. Try to keep up with the current alliances. "Politics makes strange bedfellows."

Anonymous said...

Home sick today. Yesterday, at work I heard Mr. Provosty is no longer special counsel to the mayor. But I don't know if that's true or not. Have ya'll heard anything?

Anonymous said...

Lawson suffers from wandering cahoots. Whoever serves his purpose at the moment is his pal. Provosty loaded personal and firm money on Myron for the primary. That's got to tell you something.

Anonymous said...

Coemployee - guess at to scenarios:
1. Provosty tried to finally get rid of Kelvin and Bridgett and council cut him loose; or
2. He is displaying more of his famous loyalty and deserting a sinking ship.

Anonymous 8:46 you don't know what the hell you are talking about. Delores Brewer had no control whatsoever over any dealings with bids etc. for subdivisions and utilities. Nice try though. You are so obvious with your attemp to dump all of this on DB. And, by the way, I've been doing some calling and most of the people I've called are still voting for DB. This includes men and women.

Anonymous said...

You didn't call me !!

Anonymous said...

ANON 11:27 You are wrong about DB. She was the capital works coordinator and she did have say over subdivisions. Also don't thibk that she had no input on things Ned did. They were coworkers and confidents/best friends. You're out of the loop..

Anonymous said...

As capital projects director she would not have had a say in subdivision projects. BUT she would have had a say in capital projects or developments - such as major city projects like the incubator, the new customer service center, the Coughlin Saunders building. Streets and drainage, I do believe fall under engineering and PLANNING. So, even though Darrell has tried to say he did nothing wrong and it's all the utility department's fault, he can't escape the fact that the bayou crossing and drainage were his domain. Natural gas projects and lift stations to support sewer projects were Sonny's.

The council was more concerned about meetings Harold and Sonny had with Cleco regarding the attempt to have an audit rather than a lawsuit and supposedly revealing the City's strategy than they were the development agreements.

The administration discovered the development agreement problems and got and AG opinion prior to dismissing the 3. Darrell knew exactly what he was being dismissed for prior to his leaving. In fact, I as understand if the 3 were not dismissed or had not resigned, the City itself could have found itself in more trouble than just what is indicated by the audit. It was highly recommended to the administration for the three to be separated from the City. Now by whom, I don't know, but I was led to believe this recommendation came from Baton Rouge, not the firm across the street from City Hall.

Anonymous said...

I wasn't called, and I know I'm not voting for the blonde.

Anonymous said...

Well thats strange because I heard that Leo Hamilton( the city's Labor Law attorney from Baton Rouge) told the city to settle the case with the 3 amigos because they didn't have a case. As for the AG ruling, if that's the case then why weren't the 3 told WHY they were asked to resign. If you have something from the AG then provide it. put up or shut up cause you don't know what you're talking about.

SmellyPelican,

Just as you did yesterday in the Town Talk's Story Chat, you're completely and recklessly misrepresenting the facts.

Mr. Chambers is not in Jacques Roy's shadow, is not involved in the Roy campaign, and will not be involved in the Roy administration.

Jacques Roy has repeatedly denied these accusations, including on KALB's Video Blog.

Chambers appeared at ONE Roy "news conference," the one in which Jacques announced his intentions to run. That's it.

For now, go watch Jacques' Video Blog.

Anonymous said...

Lamar, are you authorized to speak for the Roy campaign in all matters or what? You certainly talk like you have the bully pulpit and I know you enjoy feeling relevant, but really.

Blogger said...

If I am a bully for pointing out the facts to a blogger who has twice posted that Chambers will be involved in Roy's administration (despite the facts, including a direct videotaped denial), then please accept my apology. I think it's more important to correct the record.

Anonymous said...

Lamar, I suppose my question is may we hold Roy responsible for those representations and assertions that you make on his behalf, or are you just in it for the applaise?

Anonymous said...

Lamar, it appears that you are arguing with idiots again. The facts have been available for all to see and yet there still remain people that do not pay atttention. I appreciate your efforts and quest for factual truth.

Anonymous said...

. . . . also, sometimes called "applause".

Anonymous said...

Spanky, Lamar's position is that Roy already answered that question. Others are saying that this does not appear consistent with the activities they observe. And, as for arguing with idiots, I do not feel that I am arguing ;>)

Blogger said...

Look, I'm not writing here for the applause or the laurels, because, after all, Cenla Antics is not exactly known as a bastion of kindness and appreciation.

But I will continue to question those who claim to observe behavior that contradicts the facts.

Anonymous said...

I would say that Jacques answered the question directly that Harold Chambers is not involved in his campaign nor will be included in his administration. If you have information to the contrary, then you need to divulge it in a straight-forward manner. Why would you deny the arguing part and not the idiot part of my statement?

Anonymous said...

Spanky, I have no information contrary to what Lamar said or the other party that alleges a Chambers affilliation. My question was/is, does Lamar speak for Roy. That which Lamar describes as "fact" are merely assertions by one of the factions. What appears on the KALB blog is not necessarily fact, whether it comes from Roy or from Brewer.

The simple truth is that none of us know what part, if any, Harold will play in either administration. That is the "fact".

We won't have the facts on who is in and who is out until they are in or they are out. Everything else is speculation and political posturing.

On the idiot thing, I feel no need to defend my intellect and I am not sure you are wrong about me.

As you can see, Spanky, a FACT is a pretty reliable piece of information. I think Lamar was using the term to loosely. My apologies to Dead Horse.

Main Entry: fact

Smelly,
The audit was an “investigative” audit, meaning they did look into all these issues. There were NO problems with the issues you questioned; hence NO finding that anyone was participating in “shady” “under the table” deals. It’s not ILLEGAL to have relatives and just because you do have relatives doesn’t make you a crook. And believe it or not there are people with ethics, morals and standards that work and have worked in government even at the City – obviously by your alias, you are not one nor could you recognize one!

Have you ever wondered WHY the city has a City Attorney and WHY this attorney signs off on every contract prior to the mayor authorizing it to go before the council for approval? Every cost share agreement makes its way to the council and the City Attorney is the one that should have NEVER let these go through if there was a "legal" problem. The three amigos were scapegoats, pure and simple. As I recall the significant part of the settlement was the exoneration from the mayor of “any personal wrongdoing”. After the mayor’s recant as reported in the paper today, it would appear that the three may have another claim against the city.

Anonymous said...

To Anon. 12:30
Bullshit. One of the partners in he firm across from City Hall had EVERYTHIMG to do with the dismissals. Baton Rouge lawyers weren't working on the subdivision development stuff. That is just NOT accurate.

Anonymous said...

That was NOT a direct quote from Ned in the paper today. Gunn probably drew conclusions and wrote it up.

Anonymous said...

Filing another lawsuit would be silly at this point. It would only serve to draw very negative attention to the three guys over and over again. But if they let the story die on its own once the media does its pitiful coverage, people will forget about it in less than a week.

Anonymous said...

Check out this quote from We Saw That's latest expample of truth and objectivity. "We" is pretty inrresponsible. Aside from all of his sick extremist views , he is a liar.

" babs zimmerman is a high up executive at kalb tv, her husband jim leggett is an executive at the alexandria daily town talk."

To Anon. 11:27:41:
You keep on believing people are sticking with DB. There, there, if it makes you feel better. You are obviously a family member, or one of the blue hair Republican women or Mr. Provosty. Other people acknowledge the truth.

Anonymous said...

Filing another lawsuit might be just the ticket to finally expose Ned, Alban and Kevin for what they are.

Anonymous said...

That's an indirect quote. One that does not have quote marks around it. If you look on page 1, there is a direct quote from Ned and it has quote marks. The indirect quote is more "Billy bullshit." IMHO, the Mr. Gunn needs some intervention.

Anonymous said...

IMHO, now that the audit has been completed, a lawsuit would hurt the plaintiffs much more than the city or its leaders past or present. But hey, it's a free country and you can sue a ham sandwich if that floats your boat.

Anonymous said...

Who cares about Ned, Alban and Kelvin? They are the PAST. They're on their way out and a new administration will be going in. Myron is another story--you the voters put him back in...so you gotta keep dealing with him, CFS, Silver, Hobbs et al.

If Babs is a high exec @ KALB and Jim is one at the TT, then I am Bill Gates. Both careers have gone only downhill since their arrival in Alexandria decades ago. They still hang on to an obligatory social standing that only exists in their minds, but have abandened any hope of being taken seriously years ago when they decided to sell out in order to be popular with the blue blood, silk stocking gents and dames. They were at a failure at that too.

Babs and Jim have more knowledge about Louisiana government and its players in their little fingers than any of the young, johnny come lately reporters have collectively in their brains. Babs and Jim are under appreciated because of the giant companies that bought channel 5 and the Town Talk. Media General and Gannett. Both companies are known for ruining what they purchase. The execs that run the tv station and the paper wouldn't recognize real reporters and writers if they were hit over the head with them. They don't care. It's all about the bottom line. What's your beef? Did you do something wrong that they exposed on tv and in the paper? That is their job. Our Democracy depends on freedom of the press. What's your beef? Did you do something wrong that they exposed on tv and in the paper?

No, one beef is yesterday Babs reported on a story, only as to one offender, and left the other offender out of her story. She also lied when she misquoted a public agency. Her news story on this appeared yesterday at noon, and after her facts were reported as being biased and wrong, to Michell Goddard, that story did not run in the evening or 10 pm news. As of yet, KALB has not corrected the erreoneous facts not included the other charged offender. Jimbo has the same information and it hasn't appeared in the Town Talk. Babs and Jimbo are either liars or incompetent and their is documentary proof of it.
Carry on speaking the truth We Saw That.

Subject Classified Sales Center

In order to use our classified call center resources more efficiently and provide greater sales opportunities for more of our Louisiana customers, we will be creating one South Classified Sales Center in Lafayette. Effective February 5, 2007, our classified call center functions will move to The Daily Advertiser. This includes advertising solicitation responsibilities for recruitment, private party, obituary, and commercial advertising.

As a result, five current call center job positions in Alexandria will end at that time. Two positions will remain one to handle legal advertising and one to handle weddings and engagements, and assist our classified walk-in customers.

As part of this advertising restructure, a number of new positions will be created here and in Lafayette. Our current call center representatives are eligible to apply for any of those jobs if they choose, as well as any other openings which arise between now and February 5 here or at any other Gannett property. It is our hope they will choose to remain with us through the transition.

The call center and advertising staff members were informed of this change earlier today. We are sharing this information with you because we believe its important every employee is kept informed of company changes. That said, for now I am asking you not to say anything about this to our customers during the course of your business conversations. We will provide you with the proper communication to our customers at the appropriate time. Until then, we will continue to meet all of our customers business needs as we do currently.

Please understand that this is a challenging time for those employees in affected positions. Please respect their feelings and be supportive of your co-workers throughout this transitional period.

Apparently, I was dizzier than usual, this morning, and came late to the Talk Back Radio interview with Delores Brewer. I think that Roy will hire a City attorney and two assistants and eliminate ALL the contract attorneys. Its kinda ridiculous having different attorneys working for the same entity but fighting each other. Whoever heard of a city council with its own lawyer designed to fight the "special cousel" to the mayor who, in turn, fights the City attorney. Its absolutely insan.

Isn't jock Scott Lawson's attorney?

Me thinks Flynn is your next City attorney, BOOK IT!

how many lies can delores tell in one hour? Now David Pugh is Jacques media consultant according to delores. Just another in a long string of lies that she just can't help herself from telling. What a desperate woman she has become with the help of Rick, Jock, Albin and Fletcher.

It is common knowledge that albin called Ned and told him he would never speak to him again if Ned didn't publicly endorse delores. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. With friends like that...

Anonymous said...

Oh, it's common knowledge huh? Just what is "common knowledge"? Can you name names of people who were there during that phone call and heard that conversation? Who exactly told you that? As Lamar always says, "I'm not going to allow you to spread malicious lies without absolute proof". Can you give us that proof?

Just the facts ma'am.

Reposted from CenLamar

"Delores had nothing to do with the Cost share agreements"

Anon 7:59 you are wrong. Delores's signiture was required to pay the invoices for all of the projects listed in the Audit report. When it left her desk the invoice went to David Crutchfield (Finance Director) who issued the check. She was just as much a part of the process as Craig and Williamson. Chambers only role in the whole process was to sign the fact sheet that requests the Council approval of the Cost Share Contract after it was reviewed by Kelvin Sanders for legal issues. He did not approve invoices for payment. The Auditor cited the City for an illegal policy that was set by the Mayor and Council not the Division Directors. They don't set policy, but are charged with implementing the policies. Seems like the legal department failed here. Ned and Kelvin are Lawyers,not Delores, Sonny, Chambers or Williamson.

Anonymous said...

Did Ned tell you that Albin had called him and made those statements?

Anonymous said...

I think it would be a good idea to have only a City Attorney and assistants, and do away with contract lawyers. There will be times that a specialist may be needed, such as taxes, bonds, evironmental and etc... There is no excuse for the City Attorney not to handle grass cutting and collection cases.

I hear that smellypelican, the blogger who has been writing the lies about Harold Chambers and Jacques Roy, is none other than our own former State Representative, Randy Wiggins.

A google search of smellypelican and a review of his Town Talk profile reveals that he is a 55 year old insurance salesman from Pineville who enjoys officiating sports games. Smellypelican was also one of the very first writers on this blog, which was created by a board member of Cenla GoPAC.

Randy Wiggins is also a board member of CenlaGoPAC, a resident of Pineville, an insurance salesman, and exactly 55 years old, according to the Louisiana Secretary of State.

Coincidence? I don't think so.

It should be no surprise that those who bash Roy the most are members of a political action committee for Republicans.

Wiggins? Haven't heard much about him and his Chiclet smile lately.

Ruh Roh, if Randy Wiggins does run for Mayor of Pineville, Rich Dupree may have to go to trade school to learn how to do something.

Now that is just plain funny. Even Wiggins would flash some chiclets after reading that one.

Cenla Antics has a link to a homosexual blog. Does that mean that either the owner of Cenla Antics or us posters are queer?

We Saw That is past being a conspiracy idiot. Now he is seeing hidden messages in the position of a star on a banner. There is credibility attached to this person?

Sow a republican organization has a link to this blog site. Big deal.

Anonymous said...

Hey Nero Glistro.

Anonymous said...

You really think we're all that stupid?

You really think that we don't know who started Cenla Antics?

It's more than just a coincidence.

Cenla Antics was created by at least one person on this list--

* Wayne Ryan, Chairman
* Milton Gordon, Vice Chairman
* Chuck Tosten, Secretary
* Alice Bryant, At Large
* Quint Carriere, At Large
* Steve Durr, At Large
* Larry Jeanne, At Large
* Garland Lawrence, At Large
* Matt Seaton, At Large
* Bill Thomas, At Large
* Randy Wiggins, At Large

Anonymous said...

Randy Wiggins was our State Senator before and after Joe McPherson. He only lasted one term and only got that because Joe didn't run for the Senate that time.

Anonymous said...

The only reason there is a link to a homosexual website is because the idiot who created this site couldn't figure out that there is a difference between the Baton Rouge Advocate and the Advocate Magazine.

Anonymous said...

hahahaha

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:02:20 PM, Randy Wiggins ran for the State Senate against Joe McPherson, in ’99, and lost. Prior to that, RW was a State Rep. – the seat that Rick Farrar now holds.

Anonymous said...

Oh no Cenla GOPAC has a link to the Black Republican. That means, according to We Can't See Shit, because cenla Antics is linked to Cenla GoPac I am the one in the woodpile and a republican at that because I post on this blog.

As far as the Baton rouge Advocate the Advocate link is still a link to a homosexual blog site so, as Steve figured out even though he never turned, I must be a negro, republican queer. Jump down turn around pick a bale of cotton

Suzy, of course they are.. the FBI is always in town. I was talking about his paranoid delusion that they were investigating corruption at City Hall.

Anonymous said...

I thought ya'll said Cenla Antics was the guy who has PJ coffee House?

Anonymous said...

Yeah Quint Carriere, board member on Cenla GoPAC... just like Randy Wiggins.

Anonymous said...

So this blog was originally started as a way for Republicans to spread their message?

Not a big surprise.

I wonder why they feel like hiding their names, though.

Anonymous said...

What's that?

Anonymous said...

To: Thursday, Anon. 10:24 a.m.
Actually, here is the real story as told to the city council--Mr. Provosty didn't even provide the mayor with the courtesy of a phone call to say he wasn't showing back up for work at city hall. Once the mayor didn't endorse Brewer, Provosty sent the message through Ken Juneau that he was out. Furthermore, Mr. Provosty wouldn't take a call from the Mayor. So, that arrangement is apparently over.

Anonymous said...

Are you sure it didn't have something to do with ex-president Bush being in towm/

Anonymous said...

It may come as a suprise and all you have to do is look at the archives to see the origins of this blog to discover that it was started to have a free and open exchange of ideas and information. Of course, as more intelligent, educated, and rational folks such as yourselves become aware of its existence, it is only natural that you would assume that it is a propaganda instrument. Or could it be that I would suggest that you may think that it is a propaganda instrument so that you would not think that it was but that it really is. Ya know, it really could be a conspiracy. Well, gotta go cuz I have to fuel my black helicopter.

Anonymous said...

Suzie, rummors have been abound for some time now that the FBI is investigating a lot of things locally. Several dealings by Alexandria City Council members, the Sheriff, incuding his camp in Mexico, Ball Mayor Roy Hebron, and several other matters have been suggested as being included in such investigation.

I just listened to Mrs. Brewer's KSYL interview. IF Mr. Ranson and Mr. Scott actually agree to work with this woman it would be the only way for Alexandria to survive her term of office. Her pie in the sky plans sound great to the uninformed but are not based on fiscal reality.

Do the citizens actually believe her? Oh I forgot, it doesn't matter if you confuse them enough.

Hey, lucky for us, we're not going to get to find out how that works out. I guess Alban would fit into staff scene somewhere. With Jock Scott as City Attorney, Rick Ranson as Chief of Staff I guess that leaves Alban as da "extra" special counsel to da maya chick.

Former President George H. W. Bush said today in his chapel service address that politics has become too mean and negative. I'm thinking the Brewer rape ad would not please him very much. He also talked about values. That ad doesn't represent good values.

Does anyone know what happened to Dr. Duke today at LC?

Any details?

No doubt who'd be running the city and who would not if Brewer were to win. Her male posse would be in charge and she could smile and cut ribbons.

Anonymous said...

OK, Anon. 6:17, are you a student who wants to get out of doing your homework for Ms. Duke's class? If so, you are busted. I find it hard to believe that the new strict fundamentalist LC would still have a teacher who said something off color enough to be escorted out of her classroom today. I think anyone who thinks freely has already been run off from LC. So, I don't buy it.

Anonymous said...

Boy that Dr. Aguillard is so very impressed with himself. The intro his staffer gave for him at the Guinn Auditorium ceremony today was twice as long as the intro for former Pres. Bush. It was so over the top. Plus, he and his Mrs. A were given a big award. This guy is the biggest blow hard right wing nut job I've seen in a long time. No wonder all the good professors have bailed out. But I did like the choir and the football players's presentation at the luncheon.

Anonymous said...

I am glad Bush got an honorary degree from LC. Shae that he can't be eligible for a job there since he drinks wine. That speaks a lot for the new fundamentalist education at LC.

Anonymous said...

i never could understand the baptist wine position. wasn't the firs miracle of Jesus, turning water into wine?

Anonymous said...

You betcha that was the first miracle. Lucky for me, us Catholics don't have a problem with consumption of the fruit of the vine. Of course, we don't have a problem with consumption of beer, scotch, vodka, bourbon, rum or any other spirits, either.

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately, Louisiana College is on course for self-destruction. I, for one, hate to see it.

Anonymous said...

I agree. It is a shame. I hope it can be saved from the fundamentalists and return to being the great institution it was under Dr. Lynn and Dr. Lee. IMHO, we cannot afford to allow it to become marginalized and turned into a joke i.e., a "Jimmy Swaggart Bible College."

Anonymous said...

they're not done yet;

it wasn't enough for jock scott to attempt to torpedo any chance the city had to hold cleco accountable as a supposed mediator - he was fired from this once already

- and it wasn't enough for rick ranson to fleece the city by selling regions bank for millions - had he shown the guts his constituents asked and voted against this boondoggle in stead of conveniently "abstaining", the vote would have gone the other way - all the while casting every vote he could to derail the city's attempt at holding cleco accountable for fraud

- now they're both back in the saddle for db - aiming to continue years of corruption, cronyism and coverup - w/ albin as the chief engineer of all sorts of nefarious double dealing

not much hope for "those people" having a voice in db's mayoral regime

Anonymous said...

According to the Baptists, Jesus' first miracle was to turn water into Welches Grape Juice, which they use for their communion services. Next time a fundamentalist Baptist tell you that he belives the Bible from cover to cover, as him why they don't serve wine then.

Is there some kind of connection or is this just a coincidence? (Note the name in bold.)

John W. "Jock" Scott, II, (born June 29, 1947) is a lawyer and college professor in Alexandria, Louisiana, who served three terms in his state's House of Representatives, first as a Democrat (1976-1985) and then as a Republican (1985-1988). He was defeated in a race for the Louisiana State Senate in 1987. He has also lost two bids for the United States House of Representatives: a 1985 special election, when he ran as a Democrat, and in the 2004 jungle primary for the Fifth Congressional District, when he challenged fellow Republican U.S. Representative Rodney Alexander of Quitman in Jackson Parish.

Scott was born in Alexandria to Nauman Steele Scott, II, (1916-2001) and Blanche Hammond Scott (1920-1985). He graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria in 1965. He received his bachelor's degree from Tulane University in New Orleans in 1969. He obtained his law degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He was in law school at the time that President Richard M. Nixon named Scott's Republican father to a new Alexandria-based U.S. Districit judgeship.

Scott has been married to the former Cynthia "Cyndy" Henderson since 1972. They are the parents of three grown children, Natalie, John, III, and Elizabeth. And there is now a grandson in the Scott family as well.

Here's something rather interesting - Judge Nauman had a brother - Albin Provosty Scott.
