....Five and one quarter, Five and one half ...

There have been many times where I have pondered shutting down this blog. Each time I have asked friends about doing so they have asked me not to do so, "it has merit" is the usual response. I have watched, ney ... allowed ... personal friends to be maligned by bloggers on this site. I know the intricities of the truth, while others presume to know. I find it disappointing that untruths are posted here. It is unfortunately the nature of the beast. My grandfather would tell me time and again ... "it is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are stupid than open it and prove it". What a wise man my grandfather was ....

Delores, you promised on election night not to sling mud. What happened?

Continued JR push polls, that’s what.

I don't see why that radio station doesn't send out letters to the candidates giving debate date and time, invite their respective representatives to meet on a specific date and time to establish and tune debate rules, and at the appointed date and time, turn on the goddam microphones and let it rip. If candidate X doesn't show then that's the story. The candidate that shows gets the pulpit. If the no-show can invent a line of crap that will satisfy the public, so be it.

Some big hollywood production at Coughlin-Saunders requires too much logistical planning and cooperation. All KSYL needs are a several mics, swivil chairs, and legal pads and they have a debate. The station would be wise to include an opportunity for other media representation in the format to increase publicity and awareness but it would work.

Look, if a candidate is affraid to debate, after all of the debate talk on 9/30, then that is a huge story in and of itself. I think that everybody believes that it is a legitimate test of a candidate's worthiness to face each other and the public in an open full debate.

Michele Goddard is simply not committed to treating this contest as anything other than a sensation. She has no real interest in public information and journalism. I know that she is not well-respected by the other news staff at the station or in the community. Shame. She looks great.

Anonymous said...

Michele, as a political neophyte, I personally think that a debate would be most useful in informing the electorate if it were held BEFORE THE ELECTION!!!!!!

If, at it appears to many of us, one of the candidates is sand-bagging the debate, that is the story. I think, under the circumstances, that the issue needs to be forced by the media and the willing candidate(s).

A forum is a pageant of sorts. We really need a meaningful debate. I know that KSYL has extended the invitation publically.

Anonymous said...

Next year, when a local republican candidate asks you to vote for him or her for whatever local office is contested, just say "No, I remember '06."

Anonymous said...

Michelle, while you are reading the blog, please answer to the lack of coverage of the Roy Hebron Ethics hearing in Baton Rouge. A logical answer could help KALB's shoddy image out.

"Does Mrs Brewer know what integrity is? How do you even equate rape with a mayor campaign? The pigs slinging mud seem to have a lot in common with Mrs. Brewer. Republicans for Brewer are on a roll. Keep up the good work Delores and Jaques won’t have to do any campaigning!

Posted by Milton Gordon on 10/27 at 06:53 PM"

This posting on the KALB site in comments on the commercials, appears to be from the GoPac executive, famous for having his Great Danes chew on John Sams' neck. Looks like another disenchanted high-ranking republican for Roy.

Anonymous said...

I'll bet Michelle would like to tell Aymonds (traveling anonymous now but his hate gives him away) and her other detractors to go get FUC**D but she can't do that.

Anonymous said...

Au contrar - Michele does that every day by showing total disregard for KALB consumers and pandering to the sensational.

I think she should respond to the Aymond inquiry and hopefully shore up her KKK viewership.

Anonymous said...

In light of Republican candidates: [J]ust say, “No, I remember ’06.”

Well, how bright, witty and enlightened is that? It’s all about partisan political power and not about good governance. Grrreeeaaat. Yesterday, I heard something similar, regarding the importance of youth vis à vis wisdom. Superficiality is so impressive.

Anonymous said...

Oh Dizzy, speak to us of good governance. We Roy supporters have strayed too far from the salient substantive issues facing our community and your campaign has stayed the course (or do you still use that slogan). I admire you and the rest of the Brewer campaign architects for embracing the high road. There really is no substitute for truth.

Is there a gynocological condition endemic in you crones known as "moralpause"? I can feel the hot flashed from here.

Anonymous said...

The repubs may have voted Beth off their party comittees, but she's still toiling daily for Brewer.

Anonymous said...

"Just say no, I remember 06". So, what, we just vote Democrat no matter how crappy the candidate? Dream on neophite. This mayor's race is about the candidate, not about which party they are in. I think it started out about parties, but now it's totally about the individuals. And Milton Gordon is not a highly ranked Republican. As a matter of fact, right now I don't think the Republicans would vote for him as dog-catcher. It looks like he has found a happy home. Have fun.

Anonymous said...

I think a forum for the candidates gets just as much accomplished as a debate does. The candidates are asked questions and they answer them. A no holds barred debate would only favor Roy. Ms Brewer is not trained as a debater and Roy is. What the hell is the difference except in an "in your face" debate it begins to look like a boxing match. I don't blame her for wanting a forum over the debate. As far as revealing where each candidate stands on the issues and how informed they are on said issues, a civilized forum gets the job done.

Anonymous said...

When, Dead Horse, was I ever an architect of the Brewer campaign? Never, so don’t try to put my paw prints on it.

I want good government, I know who controls whom and neither candidate impresses me. At all.

Anonymous said...

What the hell is the attack on Michele g. about? When she is lapping at the feet of your candidate, she is the goddess of the media, but when she doesn't respond favorably to your demands, she is a dirty dog. Have you ever thought that maybe she is limited to whatever the candidates will agree to do? Ease up a little, would ya?

Anonymous said...

Ms Levy is still on Republican committees. She's just not on the RSCC.

Anonymous said...

Dear Crone:
Here is a list of Cenla GaPac officers as published on their web page within the last 3 minutes. I think he is a sterling republican. He was up Myron Lawson's ass about 9 feet in the primary and now he appears to be criticizing MisSpeak. You can't have it both ways. Is he your token black republican or not? The web say YES>

Cenla GoPac Officers

Wayne Ryan, Chairman
Milton Gordon, Vice Chairman
Chuck Tosten, Secretary
Alice Bryant, At Large
Quint Carriere, At Large
Steve Durr, At Large
Larry Jeanne, At Large
Garland Lawrence, At Large
Matt Seaton, At Large
Bill Thomas, At Large
Randy Wiggins, At Large

Well, obviously, he won't be a "token" Republican for long. He may already have switched parties as far as I know. I think they would probably say good riddance. I think that website is probably way out of date. If he had a chance to be the "token" Republican with any clout, that has gone out the window.

Anonymous said...

As far as I know, Beth Levy is still on the RPEC. I don’t think she’s “toiling daily for Brewer,” though. When she’s involved in a campaign she’s everywhere and sends email alerts constantly. I received one of those alerts when Brewer opened her campaign office in August, but that’s it. Nothing since.

Anonymous said...

Hey Dude - You need to learn to spell ...GaPac? website say? You really got yourself a high ranked republican there. I don't know of anyone who would talk much with that dude before the election, you really scored on that one. Haaaaaaa Glad we could be of service to you. You idiots! Haaaa

Anonymous said...

That's because they have another campaign alert person. She's still involved though. She's just not as visible as she used to be. You don't have to worry. Beth will always be a committed conservative.

"As bad as Brewer's ads are, they may be effective. Statistics show that going negative usually increases one's voter base. Issue based commercials by politicians are not remembered, but scandalous rantings seem to be very productive. Jindal can attest to that."

Look! It's Roy Fletcher again. Sorry Roy, you're wrong about these negative commercials. See, negative ads work when they're thoughtful, funny, and factual. These ads are none of the above. Obviously, you thought you guys could pull a fast one on us in Alexandria with the Cleco thing, but you forgot one thing: Your candidate was right in the middle of the whole deal. She helped write those contracts.

I am going to personally ensure that every person seeking public office who consults your services hears the story of what you did to the Brewer campaign. I'll make sure that they'll see how you suggested that a candidate spend her rape as political currency and how you suggested that she BREAK THE LAW by LYING about contracts she helped draft.

Just a quick update for those of you anxious for a debate between the candidates for Mayor of Alexandria.
I have called both campaigns this morning (Monday, October 30th) and suggested a time for a “Conversation with the Candidates - The Race for Mayor of Alexandria” live televised event in the KALB-TV 5 studios on Thursday, November 2nd.
When I hear from the candidates I will be sure to post the response on this blog.
Thank you for participating and remember to send me your questions and indicate if you will allow me to identify who you are on the air.
Thank you.

What the hell are you talking about? And who is Stacey? You are way off on this one bud.

Anonymous said...

biff was talking about Roy Fletcher, not Jacques Roy.

Michele, we don't want a conversation with the candidates. We want a debate.

What a joke.

I can see it now. The three of you sitting in the Jambalaya set, drinking coffee, and talking about Delores's commercials.

No, that won't do.

A debate. A real debate.

Anonymous said...

Sorry Chief, you ain't the big dog. If Michele wants a "conversation", that's what it will be. She is a civilized person and recognizes what you are after. I don't think she subscribes to the nastiness you do. Doesn't it just gripe your a-- when you are not in control.

Anonymous said...

If you want a conversation talk to Red Hammond. At this point, when the candidates are criticizing each other, it is time to let them address the publicly aired claims and accusations and for the liars to be outed.

Anonymous said...

What good is a coffee klatch if nobody addresses the Cleco and AHA and family contracts and annullment of contracts and other seething issues of this shitheap we call the mayor's race. Bridget ought to get a shot too. If Delores will only agree to some choriographed softball format that protects her from having to face her horrible conduct toward us and Ned and Jacques, just publish that fact and forget it. We have already heard all the canned bullshit. Now we want to actually see the candidate.

Anonymous said...

Michelle, I am glad that you read this blog and that you at least sometimes respond. To that hope that you are reading I must ask. Is not KALB subject to Federal and State laws as they relate to the airing of Political ads which are untrue? I know that someone on here has cited the specific law and it appears that TV and Radio are subject to penalty if they knowingly air a political commercial that is false. I have just seen a copy of th EMS contract and it shows that the % listed in the Pig commercial is way wrong. Way wrong. And it also shows that neither Sansing or Roy are part of EMS or the cotnract with the City. NOW, do not take my word for it but why not call Mr Pugh up and ask for a copy of the contract or better yet ask the City for a copy of it. Interesting thing is that it was signed WHILE Mrs Brewer was Chief of staff and knew about the content of the contract.. I believe that once you see it yourself KALB will be bound either by law or by decency to take some action relative to this False advertisement. Please at least respond that you have seen this posting please.

Anonymous said...

i obviously was refering to mr. fletcher, when i said roy is a fine guy, if you can overlook the fact that he is a low-life turd-slinging whore.

Anonymous said...

also, and i fully realize i am in the minority here, i don't think Mr. Roy has any business debating delores the delightful. he's probably up by 30 points, and to dignify her with a debate won't accomplish anything. at this point, she is such an insignifigant candidate i wouldn't even acknowledge she is running.

Anonymous said...

Woooo hoooo....looks as if the little piggies ad has "oinked" a few Roy supporters. Don't you just love it. When they send out the negative material or do push polls asking negative questions, everything is just great. But, when the other candidate decides to fight back, the little porkers get all "oinked" out of shape. Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

Anonymous said...

maybe us little "porkers" are "oinked" out of shape because the commercial is obviously a gross misrepresentation of the facts at hand. if the facts of the matter WERE true, as the brewer camp would like to confuse you into believing, my thoughts are that we (the "porkers")would all shut up or at least try to change the subject or something. but that's not the case is it? we all would like these matters discussed at a venue outside of this blog so that others can see what should be blatant...that delores is unfit to be our mayor.

Anonymous said...

and a liar to boot.

Anonymous said...

Well, I have no idea whether the ad is a lie or not, but I think it's hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw it, finally. Don't get high blood pressure over all of this. I don't think you'll get your debate and one of the reasons is what biff said. I think you supporters are much more eager for a debate than Roy is. A lot of things can happen in a debate and sometimes it's not beneficial to the one that's ahead in the polls. What's the old saying...."Be careful what you ask for".

Anonymous said...

Ow! Ow! Oh! Ow!

Maybe the citizens are bent out of shape by Brewer's "Earl K Long" ype commercials. Isn't it bad enough for folks that don't live here to have their suspicions confirmed that Louyisiana is populated by unedecuated, gap tooth, tobacco spitting dumb asses then by people with some degree of intelligence.

In her negativism due to fear of loss of employment Brewer has subject Cenla to public embarrassement. She has engaged in shit slinging the likes of which hasn't been seen since the Long era. She is better suited to some South American third world politics then the politics of Alexandria. Come Monday she should put up a for sale sign in front of her house and get the hell out of Dodge.

She is an embarrassement to herself, to her family and friends, to any female interested in politics, to this City and to this State. All she does is give male chauvinisht something to hang their reasoning on.

My dear you should stay home, barefoot and pregnant and leave the bidness of politics to the men folks.

I think what whoever put the information on here for Michelle has done enough to make it KALBs responsibility to at least ask if the information is correct and ask for documents to back it up otherwise I think they are not being responsible .

Heitmeier asks ethics board to review campaign ads
snip:
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Francis Heitmeier, a New Orleans area state senator who dropped out of the secretary of state's race, is asking the state ethics board to look into critics who ran an ad against him during the campaign.

Heitmeier, a Democrat, ran second in the Sept. 30 primary and then dropped out of the runoff after figuring he would fall short of the voter turnout he needed to win, giving the office to Sen. Jay Dardenne, R-Baton Rouge.

Backed with money from the Business Council for New Orleans and the River Region, the political action committees Citizens for Tax Equity and Keep New Orleans Moving Forward ran TV ads in September holding Heitmeier culpable for botched flood protection partly because of his opposition to forming a single regional levee board.

The ads showed scenes of wrecked houses and people wading through post-Katrina floodwaters, while branding Heitmeier as "the career politician most responsible for opposing flood protection reform."

Anonymous said...

"It's all right if you run the ads, but when the other party runs them, they're supposed to be criminals." blow it out your relativist ass. there is a minor difference in your attempt at equivalency. Jacques' ads were based on substantiated corroborated facts. Delores’ ads are based on an attempt to equate bridgett brown with roy, and smear him with the EMS contract. delores. what unmitigated gall. bridgett brown and EMS occurred on your watch at city hall, and didn’t involve roy in anyway. delores, your actions/inactions created the very EMS contract, and relationship with bridgett brown that you are trying to hang roy with. Give it up! it’s way beyond the pale. have you no shame or any sense of common decency? (rhetorical question, we all know the answer to the question is hell no.) white trash. nothing more.

Anonymous said...

I have a question, who is responsible for giving Delores Brewer the crossroads mailing list?? Did anyone else get a To the parents of: letter today??

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't care one bit if Delores was trying to be informative IF SHE GOT THE FREAKIN' FACTS RIGHT! She can INFORM us of whatever it is she feels she needs to - Jacques is a lawyer. Jacques is under 40. Whatever, but get the damn facts straight.

Delores KNOWS EMS does not receive 50%. She was chief of staff when the contract was reduced. She knows EMS is now ONLY David Pugh. My guess, she's probably one of the witnesses on the fact sheet, although I can't confirm it because I haven't seen it. That's my guess.

I don't care what color pigs she uses, at least spell Bridgett's name correctly.

FCC regulations state these type ads fall under state laws. Even if KALB wanted to, they couldn't pull the ad. According to the procedure for Federal Candidates, ads paid for by a candidate about that candidate cannot be reviewed, must be accepted and ran. There can be no deletions or editing of the content. They must accept the same from opposing candidates. Additionally, political candidates also are given the lowest rate offered by the station in a given timeframe.

This means in order to do something to have the ad pulled someone would have to file a complaint under state law which forbids false advertisment. Given the fact it took a year-and-a-half to get an AG's audit and opinion on the development agreements, I wouldn't hope to see anything soon on getting this ad pulled before election day. Government does not move at the pace of business - no matter what level you're talking about.

Dear indignant crone:

Delores's ads may very well have criminal implications. If they are found to violate the ethics law, she could get up to 6 months in jail. Martha Stewart seemed to get along OK but she know how to do real productive work. Perchance, she will make you a shawl.

Anonymous said...

that may very well be factual. i think most people just say, sure i will vote for her. i wasn't mean, i stated my position. that aside, i strongly believe delores is in for a spanking. i will wait for the soothsayer before i book my bet in vegas.

people need to calm down about fletcher. He told delores she couldn't win; yet, she decided to stay in to get revenge as fletcher indicated on this blog yesterday. He probably told her she would have "to throw deep" which meant coming out with the crazy commercials he concocted. However, he may have misunderstood the devastating effects that Roy's true and accurate commercials had done to delores' positives from her initial poll. In short, he had little to work with but he does understand what happens when your candidates negatives even among her core supportes outweigh her positives. And always remember, delores ultimately approved this course of action, regardless of whether it was fostered by ranson, scott or fletcher. However, fletcher need not worry , there is always someone as vacuous as delores ready to hire him. Remember PT Barnum's line, "there is a sucker born everyday" or words to that effect.

Why not grow a set of balls, if possible, as say it to Aymond's face. Or at least tell us who you are. Mighty big talk from a cyber coward. Anyone can act brave as long as they do it anonymously. At least Aymond signs his name to his allegations.

Anonymous said...

No, really, that's allright. You can keep him. You seem to be so taken with him and all. There are a number conservative blacks out there. You know, someone you can trust.

Anonymous said...

Would there actually be a point to Jacques & Delores having a debate @ Rotary? The time would be extremely limited and there is no point in ruining a good lunch. Besides, Jacques knows to duck a sucker punch, something Delores has not learned nor ever will.

I think Milton was just looking for someone to look up to but that could be about anybody since he is 4' 11''. You like Milton - you got him.

and "enforcer" ain't a name, it's a roach spray.

Anonymous said...

Come on Roy, surely you jest. You obviously know that the "big guys" know who to hire by now.

Anonymous said...

Sucker Punch????? Now how would spending 30 minutes at a forum with business people (many of whom he knows well) be a sucker punch? I think he's getting a little squeamish here at the backstretch.

Anonymous said...

Why would roy need to be at another forum for her silly attacks, and offers to sign pledges that violate the very charter she would be sworn to protect. If the talk around town is any indicator of peoples' feelings about delores, she needs to be speaking to a psychiatrist at Central.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Anonymous 10:11:04, I understand why you don't identify yourself. If I were you I would be ashamed also.

It would appear that neither of us are in the enviable position of Aymond in having no respectable reputation to protect. What are people gonna say to hurt the feelings of a fatass nazi?

Where are the number of conservative black republicans? I did not see them supporting Delores Brewer. Yes, you do need that remedial class. Do you think that one conservative black republican would turn on a fellow conservative black republican? They have more in common with each other than they do with you. Wake up!

I thought Fletcher calls himself a whore.

There are a number of conservative black republican leaders, one of which is Rev. Soloman Shorter. He is fiscally conservative, law & order, social justice kind of guy. I like, admire and respect him.

What is with all of these personal attacks and name calling? If you disagree with what someone posts, it would be much more intelligent to show, point by point, where they were wrong. But perhaps some are ill equiped to exhibit intelligence, so all they can do is name call.

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah, well shut up!

Anonymous said...

Mr. Anonymous 10:39:40. Have you lost your mind!! You must be a newcomer to Alexandria politics. That's why I wrote that you need remedial politics 001. Everyone who has been involved in politics in Alexandria knows the history of "The Rev. S. Shorter". Keep up the good work!

Anonymous said...

I am quite sure that Jacques knows by now that Trix are for kids and he has had his fill of Delores's foolishness. I have not heard any substantive directional plans from Delores and am sure that she would not know where to start to have a coherent vision for Alexandria. I would not engage her in any discussion that she had a hand in preparing the format as she has shown that she is an ambush artist wannabe and I am quite sure that Jacques knows better than to fall for her lame tricks. Her time would be better spent to take a couple hundred bucks from her dwindling campaign fund and have a fling with the Roaming Gnome on a cheap Carnival cruise.

Anonymous said...

Wake up people. If you think for a second that Roy doesn't have a contingency contract tied to whatever Sansing may get from his realtionship with EMS and the Cleco audit, you have lost your mind. Remember, Roy has never answered this question. He has never said his fees are not tied to any recovery his client may get from Cleco thru the City/EMS contract.

Anonymous said...

Roy has answered that question, and there is no contingency fee agreement.

Stick to the facts, asshole.

This is the most important election in Alexandria in the last 20 years.

Ha. It shoulda, coulda, woulda been had any worthy candidates stepped up. Yeah, I know, all the “blue-hairs” and “chillens” believe their sewer swimming “skunk” and their push polling “piggy” are models of perfection. Whom are y’all tryin’ to kid? Then again, voters do get what they deserve.

That begs a question though. Does a ballot actually have to state None Of The Above for voters to express that sentiment at the polls? Apparently. How stupid is that?

Anonymous said...

Today's Town Talk article says it all, and I might add, it says it simply and clearly enough for the ultranegative whining asshole immediately above to comprehend. Brewer admits that she pledged to run a positive campaign and then just changed her mind which her consultant, Fletcher, ascribes a "a lady's prerogative". I am astonished by the amazingly low regard the Brewer campaign has for truth in any of its forms. If folks take the time to check back Town Talk articles on the Cleco litigation they will see that the allegations about Roy and his connection to EMS or Bridget Brown or totally, absolutely, and shamelessly false and nobody is in a better position to know that than Brewer's campaign and it's sponsor, Albin.

Jacques Roy is clearly the superior candidate, but if his quality was not clear, the fact that Brewer is so dishonest, unethical, lacking in integrity, and just plain bad, makes the choice not just clear but easy.

Anonymous said...

Rotary has a policy prohibiting campaigning. I was told that the candidates would each get 12 minutes to talk about issues. It would not be conducted like a debate or forum. I hope Mr. Roy will appear today. He would have an opportunity to get even more of the movers and shakers into his corner. A mandate is a great thing to have when being sworn into office. I can understand him for not wanting to accept every forum offer since he's such a frontrunner. But this is NOT the one to turn down. Roy could dazzle this crowd. Why let Mis-Speak have the whole program? In fact, if he's really not showing up, I think Rotary should cancel. It's very un-Rotary like to have just one candidate.

It's official. This mayor's race has set women back by about 30 years in our ongoing quest for equality. The TT article today "Brewer, Roy Blame Each Other" contains a quote from Roy Fletcher on page A5. When asked why Brewer went negative after saying she wouldn't Fletcher said, "She made a promise that night, but you know what? She changed her mind, just like any other lady." So, he's claiming that the "little women" often change their minds, so it was expected? It's just incredible that her own strategist would say something like that!

Anonymous said...

Hmmm. A new, political YouTube:Capitol Hill Broadcasting Newtork.

Greetings fellow bloggers. I have been away visiting family for the past week and must say I return refreshed, but disheartened. I am truly amazed at the Brewer campaign and how far into the gutter they have descended.

The venom they have spewed into the political arena has taken me by surprise and I must retire to consult the feathers and bones....

More later.

Anonymous said...

Pardon the fisking, but I can’t help it.

"She made a promise that night, but you know what? She changed her ... mind, just like any other lady," [Fletcher] said.

Fletcher, you are as transparent as they come. What a misogynistic maroon.

[Brewer] says Fletcher advised her that she had been too nice during the primary election and that she had to go negative.

Had to? Snarky, sure; negative, no.

"I tried to take the high road, and look where it got me.”

It got you in the runoff!

”If we are going to gain ground, we have to do it a different way," Brewer said. "Unfortunately, negative ads work.”

For whom, for you or your opponent? Fletcher sucked you in, Delores.

”I normally don't subscribe to them."

Thinking outside the box does not have to be, and shouldn’t be, compromising. Trying to win at any cost usually is. And, the cost is, well, extremely costly.

Hey Aymonds...I'm baaaaaaacccck! It's me you tubby little toad, your postings as Anon don't fool anyone.
Because you such a crappy lawyer, you may have forgotten that the ethics board is not a courtroom. You should know this after being hauled before the board yourself many, many times. Real, criminal detectives from several law enforcement agencies have already said there was no criminal wrongdoings with the Water Works #3 water line in North Rapides. Like all your other attempts at being a lawyer, you failed again. The ethics board is holding a hearing just to shut your fat pie hole. I have talked to a certain female investigator and she assures me that there will be a finding of "no fault".

Face it Tubby, you're a psychopathic liar who is seeking attention to bolster a non-existent law practice.

You're a disgrace to practicing attorneys everywhere...

Got your number Aymonds, nobody listens to you, nobody cares about you, you're not a pimple on a frog's ass.

Just keeping you honest tubby.

Isn't Roy's add on KALB TV a nice decent, dignified ad? Whoever positioned it to run after that piece of crap of Brewers was pretty smart. First you have her hillbilly, negative fabricated bs and then his professional factual ad.

Anonymous said...

Ah Beth. Welcome back. Your stealthy dizzy nickname can't conceal your signature "snark". You must know that you are respected and liked in this town, not just by your party, but the informed public in general. I still feel like you are struggling to find or make excuses for Delores. If she is whipsawed by the forces of evil and greed and manipulated into doing and saying these horrible things, then perhaps she is more weak that bad, but, not good mayor material. You would do her a favor by convincing her of that obvious universally known fact.

And feel free to once again deny that I outed you. I find your coyness fetching.

Ms. Peak doesn't lie, she just changes her mind, like women do. WOW! Using your sex and its vices as your only weapon in an intellectual discussion is a strange way to win people over to your side. Pretty good plan to have your female supporters leave in disgust though. Most politicians can lie with impunity, but this one is incompetent even in how she tries to deceive. I was in a room with someone who had not seen the pig ad, and when the picture of the brown pig (obviously Ms. Brown) was shown this person gasped. The shock was that someone would be so stupid as to put forward an attack that would alienate so many people. I never thought Brown could be put in a position to garner sympathy from anyone, but Brewer managed to accomplish this, much to her own detriment. If she is not punished with an embarassing defeat at the polls, it will be a sad day for central Louisiana.

It just doesn't make sense. When I hear this stuff issued to the public directly from the Brewer campaign, I cannot imaging how women like Kim Knight can let their name and reputation and future be associated. The two-named blue hairs are the essense of unscrupulous but Knight is not that way. How do you explain that. This guy, Dr. Moran, is supposed to be an alright kind of guy. How is he stuck in this?

Anonymous said...

Didn't someone say Billy Allen is a Roy fan and a possible for City Attorney? Even if the latter is a joke, here's something more interesting - Dr. Moran is Billy's partner in Union Park - the newest Mobile Home park on Highway 1 North. A place the City of Alexandria put over $36,000 into for electrical utilities. All done while Delores was Chief of Staff. How's that for feeding at the trough Delores?

Please delores; keep letting fletcher speak for you; he is doing a great job. Soon you will be in single digits in positives.

I know Beth well and I wouldn’t say that “coyness” describes her. “Dizzy,” while it descirbes me, doesn’t describe Beth, either. You did out me as a thief, however. Without permission, I snatched her signature “snark.” That wasn’t terribly clever of me, so I’ll return it to her when next I see her. Mea culpa.

Well, if you are not Beth, you certainly share her quick wit, information, and banter. Damn, I just really wanted to catch me a Republican.

I don't know Fletcher but when I hear statements like that I picture a thin-haired pudgy guy about 5'6", smoking an unfiltered cig., smirking at the amazing cleverness of his retort, and then I see this old film footage of the Hindenberg - OH THE HUMANITY. Damn I wish Leggett would kick Gridiron back up. I think I got the skit.

Looks like we could record a greatest hits collection about this race!

Anonymous said...

I have emerged from consultation with other voices in Cenla and they tell me that Brewer knew from the night of the primary election that she had no hope of winning the run-off. She felt that she had been positioned by the “powers that be” to become the first female mayor of Alexandria. Sources also tell me that she had already planned her 2007 agenda for LMA visits to other mayors out of town. She believed that she had the election in hand. Her handlers did not count on another credible white candidate in the race. They discounted Sams as un-electable.

When Roy entered the race and shot into the lead, the Brewer camp panicked. With no real political advisor to lead them, they floundered. Their Florida political expert was blindsided by the aggressive style of Louisiana politics. The Brewer camp had resigned to a 4th place finish and had actually prepared a statement for her to read on election night reflecting her poor finish. The Breweristias were shocked that she made the run-off, but knew that the Roy campaign was digging for the truth and would be relentless in exposing her.

She felt that her rightful place as Mayor had been stolen by Roy and others who should never have been in the race to begin with. On the advice of Albin, the camp decided to get rid of the Florida wonder boy and hire Roy Fletcher. They decided to make the Cleco issue a “poison pill” that could be used against Jacques in the campaign, and structure the issue so no matter how it ended up, Roy would be the political goat. If the COA wins, the voters don’t get what they should because the “other pigs” got their cut. If the COA loses, it’s because Roy was Mayor and didn’t fight hard enough for the voters.

Delores also wants to trash Bridgett because she made a fool of Delores on local TV.

The whole ad campaign is to set the table for the next 4 years, not the election next week. Delores knows she will never sit in the Mayor’s chair and is allowing her campaign to be used to destroy Jacques and his political future.

Survey says….. The Brewer people are indeed toothless lions of the past. Although their campaign tactics are clever, they rely on Jacques stumbling his way through his first 3 years. They will then attack him and try to elevate an alternate candidate during the next election cycle. Their plan falls apart should Jacques turn out to be an effective mayor. The biggest flaw in their plan is the memory of the voters. The Cleco affair will be settled by spring of 2007 and forgotten by 2010. Look for continued attacks from the old lions, however, they will prove ineffective. Soon the old lions will be relegated to the ash heap of history.

The feathers and bones have spoken.

Yesterday evening I went through my usual drill of catching up with this blog. Lo and behold, I found my name all over the Monday section of this unbelievably long thread. Oh, Hall Monitor! In any event, “Bethy Baby” made me howl with laughter! I don’t think anyone has called me that since my college days. Given the date of my graduation, I don’t really remember. ;->

Nevertheless, I am reading this blog this morning because I’ll be otherwise engaged this evening. And again, what do I find? That my “coyness is fetching” and that Dizzy – I know you? - has “snatched my signature ‘snark’.”

Thank you, Anon 7:52:43 AM, for your very kind words. I’m truly flattered. That said, and for the record, I make no excuses for anyone. My experience has taught me how political campaigns should be run and how the media component should be handled. As well, experience has taught me that while I’m entitled to express an opinion, I am not entitled to an audience. ;->

Now, for Dizzy. I don’t own what has been labeled my signature. You are welcome to use it anytime, so no mea culpas needed. Hold on, Anon, I, too, know how to use HTML tags, but I digress. Dizzy, you were temporarily dyslexic: it’s “describe.” The old editor in me is peaking out… Anyhoo, since you know me well, send me an e-mail and we’ll arrange a lunch date. You, too, Anon.

I am a Roy supporter and Edan's partner. A function of city government is to provide utilities to it's citizens regardless of who is Mayor, Chief of Staff etc. The tenants pay utilities and we pay city taxes.

Anonymous said...

So Beth, are you also interested in going over to the "dark side".

Anonymous said...

Hey Sooth! If you are correct, it will be in all of our best interests to have the watchdog opposition looking closely at Mayor Roy as it would be if the tables were turned. Remember that mayors are supposed to serve us at our pleasure. They work for us and should be supervised well. We are not training Roy to be a Rep, Sen, Gov or Congressman, but to run our city and try to bring it around to something better. If he spends four years doing that he will be re-elected if that is what he wants for many terms. If he spends his time making alliances and positioning himself for bigger and better offices, it will come back to haunt him. Generally the position of mayor is not a springboard for higher office, but for someone who develops statesmanlike qualities in that office it could launch a career that knows no bounds. Hope springs eternal!

Yes Billy Boy, BUT, this property was originally out of the City limits and would have been served by Cleco. Instead it was brought into the City, the City put it's money in for infrastructure and is now reaping the benefit of doing so. Problem here is NOT EVERY DEVELOPER GETS THAT LUXURY. Most developers put their own freaking electricity in. They only cost share when they want something special like underground utilities.

Anonymous said...

Oh and one more thing - wasn't it cost share development agreements that got 3 people fired - or did I misread a recent audit from the attorney general?

I'm not saying they are a bad thing, but when a candidate is going to talk about feeding at the trough, she ought to know her own supporters are benefitting as well.
