One Week left ...

Who will be our next Mayor? We could hit a historical mark with either the first woman or black mayor. What ever the case, Alexandria is truly at a point of no return. With one of our better hotels closing due to not paying their utilities the fact remains that Alexandria is canibalizing itself. A massive Economic Development plan must be created and implemented. Utility bills must be reduced. Our power is purchased from Cleco and marked up by the city. We have a fund surplus. What to do with it? Uhhh ....

Alexandria is being surpassed by Pineville. Mayor Fields and Rich Dupree as well as the Pineville City Council have done a phenominal job on economic development. As a business owner myself, I recognize the ease and less expense of operating in Pineville. I have had many like minded conversations with other business owners.

Voters, think wise and hard on your decision. Candidates think wise and hard. Whom ever is the next mayor will wear this pivotal mantel for a very long time. This could very well be the mayorial term that makes or breaks Alexandria.

I remain,

Hopeful in Alexandria

Just another point before I mix another Mojito and put the tenderloin on the grill. We all have our personal favorites in this race and I do not mean to offend the Breweristias out there, however, Delores had a serious problem with the MAJORITY of voters.

Joe six-pack doesn't like her because he thinks she is being set up by Randolph and his supporters. Jane six-pack doesn't like her, because she sees women just like her in the mall all the time, spending her fancy husband's money, buying things Jane can't afford.

Scarlet, I know you think the sun rises on Delores' head, but the average voter can't connect with her, and she has done a poor job of connecting with them.

Delores may be the most qualified candidate we have to sit in the mayor's chair, but if you can't RELATE to the voters, you're dead. Delores' biggest mistake in the whole race was never being seen doing ordinary things, dressed in ordinary clothes. To Joe six-pack and his wife Jane, Brewer is an elitist.

No feathers and bones on this one, just my humble observation.

No you do not sue to get a DWI driver's license back, The Legislature passed a law allowing that, so blame it on them. Also, either a judge or the employees of Dept. of Motor Vehicles can issue the hardship license. Blame it on them. Blaming Jacques for doing his job as a lawyer, it don't see it.
No on the otherhand, lying on TV and to the council and voters, have a large part of you family getting cushy deal with the City, like Delores, now that is something to talk about. Delores must be hurtin if this is the best she can do. Best reason not to vote for any of these incumbants or Delores is, we don't know for sure what they new guys will do, but we sure know what the bunch already in there will do.

anyone seen jacques new tv spot against delores? it's a complete death sentence against the brewer campaign. goes through a list of her family's business with the housing authority and her attempt to get her own contract.

no, but the commercial with sams' wife is just terrible. she doesn't smile once. she's stern. says that sure he's known to ruffle feathers. i guess she's tacitly acknowledging that most of us think he's a huge jerk. sorry biff.

Mr. Fuller began his political career in 1971 when he became Treasurer of the International Paper Workers Union and ascended to Vice President of the Union. Between 1980 and 1982 he was the first black to hold the position of Community Developer for the City of Alexandria. From 1982 to 1984 he served as the Mayorial Assistant for Alexandria.

So if you need some paper to wipe your ass with, Joe is the man?

Got a recorded message for Mike Francis (Sec. of State candidate), and lo and behold, it was Buddy Roemer. I have already voted, and it was not for Francis. If I was undecided and knew that Numbnuts Roemer was supporting the guy, that would have made my mind up against him.

I just caught the tail end of one of Delores's ads and she was talking about something would be dealt with and we had her word on that. What was that about?

Soothsayer:

I disagree with your dated, paternalistic, and yes racist, view of how black voters will respond in this election. In case you hadn't noticed, there are a number of sophisticated voters in the black community these days, who don't need a piece of chicken or a ride to the polls to decide who they will vote for on Saturday. Do not underestimate the power that black voters will wield in this race. It will be historic! Let the church say -- AMEN!!

Signed,
A Black voter who eats steak and has two cars!!

You Roy people are so funny. Do you really think the average voter knows or cares about the "process" involved with DWI offenders getting their licenses back? Please. The message delivered by DB camp is that Roy helps drunk drivers get back on the road. It's a true statement. Folks don't like that. Very effective. You know it. He knows it. That's why Roy and you Roy supporters are in a tizzy. Accept it and move on.

Anonymous said...

hahaha. no, you brewer people are even worse. relying on collective ignorance so that you can dupe the public into thinking that roy just loves drunk drivers.

we know better. the general public knows better.

To the anonymous black voter, I wish more of you guys would participate on this blog because this city is not going to go much further until we are all talking and get on the same page to make this a better place. I would rather be talking to you than about you cuz it ain't the bad old days anymore and all points of view count.

Scarlett...does that ice pack help??

Anonymous said...

Well, Spanky, I've been reading this blog for some time now, as do a number of other folks in the black community. Some points, although conservative, I actually agree with, but discourse cannot be productive when comments are couched in racist innuendo. If you don't like the members of the council because they are doing what you believe to be a bad job at running government, then say that. But, discontinue these ridiculous diatribes about how ALL the black folks are "making money" because of a majority black council. Those statements are are just dumb and just lies. I work everyday and make my own money. I want those guys to do deal with the same issues that you want them to -- crime, better roads, a safe neighborhood for my children, and lower utility bills. Can't we begin to have a dialogue about the facts and issues and stop just ranting about the people?

Anonymous said...

UH...no.

Anonymous said...

You are right. I cringe whenever someone is referred to by color as walls go up immediately. I have been guilty of blasting council members, but I have a problem with the pattern of behavior that some have displayed by the way they handle our city business. I do not feel we are ready to spend money on marinas and the like until the basics such as police protection, streets repairs etc. are taken care of. All of this business of buying different buildings to convert to a facility that is not what is really needed is not helpful either. Plan the facility and build it.

Regardless of whether Brewer wins or not the selection of this Weinhart guy and Debra Randolphs brother has been a terrrible underutilization of the money, the position of advantage and the good things about Delores. The whole campaign has been poor. From the poor handling of Brewer while she was still with the City to the blog entry to the general commercials. The commercials looked very professional but never did she ever define herself or the issue and that ..THAT is what these paid hacks are hired for, the define the issues, promote the person. For $200k in a market this size there is no reason why Weinhart could not have put this one away months ago. She may win but it will be in spite of her poor campaign and not because of it. I happen to be for Roy but I know that Delores Brewer is better than this campaign has allowed her to show. She is not a liar although she lied, she is not a controlled person although she has allowed herself to be controlled and viewed as such. If she runs again for an office or runs for reelection of this office I can not believe that we will see Weinhart and Randolphs brother again as her political team.

I AM A BREWER SUPPORTER BUT TONIGHT I AM PISSED OFF.NOT AT HER OPPONENTS BUT AT HTE PEOPLE WHO SHE IS LISTENING TO. WHAT POSSIBLE POLL DATA OR POLITICAL THINKING WOULD SUGGEST THAT IT WOULD BE A POLITICAL PLUS FOR BREWER TO WASTE MONEY AND SHOOT AND SHOW A COMMERCIAL ON THE LAST FEW DAYS OF A CAMPAIGN WHERE SHE APPEARS MEAN SPIRITED TOWARDS THE MINORITY AND POOR. YES, WE NEED TO CLEAN UP THE CITY .IF YOU DIDNT NOTICE THAT WAS NOT CHARLES PARK THAT THEY WERE SHOWING IN HER COMMERCIAL BUT DALLAS STREET. ALTHOUGH ANOTHER CANDIDATE COULD SAY THAT BREWER WAS IN A POSITION AT THE CITY TO HAVE MADE THAT HAPPEN OR TO HAVE INFLUENCED NED RANDOLPH TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN..IF..IF IF..THAT WAS SUCH A BOTHERSOME ISSUE WITH DELORES BREWER..... THE BIGGER QUESTION AS A SUPPORTER IS THAT WHEN WE ARE TRYING TO DEFINE THE CAMPAIGN AND SHOW WHY DELORES IS BEST.. IS THAT THE ..THE THE ISSUE THAT IS ON EVERYONES MIND? HELL NO. TRASH????? GEEEEZUS CHRIST. WAS IT MEANT TO SHOW HER TOUGH? DAMN, HOW BOUT KEEPING THE IDIIOTS ON THE COUNSEL FROM WASTING MONEY AND HIRING CON SUL TANTS AND LEAVE THE TRASH ISSUE TO WOODSY FRICKEN OWL. BECAUSE I KNOW HER TO BE A GOOD CREDIBLE PERSON WHO TRULY DOES CARE ABOUT MAKING A DIFFERENCE. BUT DELORES THE CANDIDATE AS DEFINED BY THESE IDIOTS HAS REALLY TAKEN AWAY FROM THE QUALITIES THAT I HOPE ARE STILL IN THERE SOMEWHERE. I BELIEVE SHE IS THE BEST PERSON . THAT IS WHY I WILL VOTE FOR HER. BUT I CAN'T LIE, I HOPE THESE DAMN POLICAL EXPERTS GO HOME AFTER THIS ELECTION AND SHE SHOWERS HERSELF OF THE DUNG THAT HAS ATTACHED ITSELF TO HER IN THIS CAMPAIGN.

THAT IS EXACTLY MY POINT. I THINK SHE WAS TOLD THAT "YOU WONT GET ANY BLACK VOTE SO DONT CATER TO THEM" THAT MIGHT BE THE POLITICAL SMARTS BUT THATS NOT HER. SHE DOEES CARE ABOUT ALL PEOPLE. EVEN BLACKS! HA..SO THE CAMPAIGN GETS HER ELECTED BUT MAKES HER SOMEONE WHO WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GOVERN? DUMB DUMB DUMB. I HATE THESE EXPERTS ON ALL SIDES. PEOPLE THAT DO NOT EVEN LIVE HERE. PEOPLE WHO DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS HERE. ROY HAS THEM TOO. DO ANY OF US REALLY KNOW MORE ABOUT ANY OF THE CANDIDATES BECAUSE OF THE CANNED COMMMERCIALS AND MAILOUTS? HELL NO. WE KNOW THE WARTS , WE KNOW THE POOR DECISIONS, WE KNOW THE MISTAKES. BUT I DONT WANT A PERFECT PERSON AS MY MAYOR. I WANT A HUMAN. BUT DO ANY OF US REALLY KNOW MORE ABOUT THE KIND OF MAYOR ANY OF THESE PEOPLE WOULD BE AS A RESULT OF THE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS SPENT TO MAKE THESE ASSHOLES FROM BATON ROUGE AND FLORIDA RICHER AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR FUTURE. I KNOW IM FULL OF HOT AIR BUT SOMEWHERE IN HERE I JUST FEEL LIKE THERE IS SOME TRUTH THAT ALTHOUGH WONT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE STILL MAKES ME PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT WE OUGHT TO HAVE...AND WHAT WE COULD LEARN AND GROW FROM A REAL CAMPAIGN AND NOT THIS BULLSHIT THAT ALL OF THE POLITICIANS HAVE PUT OUT IN THIS CAMPAIGN.

Anonymous said...

YES I AM A SUPPORTER WITH HER CAP LOCKED. AND I AM NOT THE ONLY BREWER SUPPORTER THAT FEELS THIS WAY. MANY OF US HAVE KNOWN DELORES FOR YEARS. BUT ONLY THE LAWYERS WIFE DOWN THE STREET AND DEBRA RANDOLPH AND THIS FAT GUY FROM FLORIDA HAVE HAD ANY REAL PART IN THIS CAMPAIGN. YES DELORES TALKS TO US BUT EVERYTIME 'OTHERS' ARE INFLUENCING HER. A LOT OF US ARE SICK OF IT BECAUSE SHE HAS MISSED SUCH SIMPLE CHANCES TO SHOW PEOPLE THE REAL PERSON SHE IS . NEITHER MY HUSBAND OR FAMILY MAKE ANY MONEY FROM THE CITY BUT I HAVE JUST AS MUCH AT RISK AS HER NEIGHBOR WHO DOMINATES DELORES CAMPAIGN.

I read Soothsayer's post 3 or 4 times trying to see the racist view and there is none. Sooth's point is election day corruption as practiced by Joe Fuller. It has nothing to do with race, it has everything to do with rides to the polls, buying votes, and stealing elections, New Orleans style.

If you are too stupid to see his point, stop reading his posts. Unlike many of you airheads here, Soothsayer has never attacked anyone. he has said his view of events and made his point in a logical way.

You may not believe you're the typical black voter who lives off of lower third, but you react the same way most blacks do when they hear truth that makes them uncomfortable...they scream racist.

Anyone who knows anything about Delores' campaign knows this: she only listens to Swinehart and Verne Kennedy, period. From the start, she made it clear to her finance committee and to her supporters that it was the way it was going to be. That has pissed off a couple of her friends and supporters who believe themselves to know EVERYTHING about campaigning because they worked on a few campaigns as volunteers--Cyndi Sadler is a prime example. As for the comment that Mrs. Randolph is calling the shots...that is not what I see at all. Swinehart and Kennedy are definately in charge 100%. In fact, no one's seen the Randolph's around around much lately. I get the feeling they don't want to be associated with the negative stuff. If Brewer wins, it will be because of Swinehart, Kennedy and the candidate herself. If she loses, the same 3 folks will be to blame. As for the Broussard boy, he simply follows orders from Swinehart. Whomever (pretty clear who it is) posted the "all caps" rant is not doing candidate Brewer any favors. If she really supports Brewer, she should express her frustration to the candidate and Mr. Swinehart in private.

Anonymous said...

sounds like the brewer camp is imploding. no big surprise. her numbers are in free fall.

Anonymous said...

Brewer's people are frustrated because they know her fate is now sealed. Even if she happens to get into a run-off with a black, she cannot win. She would have had to recieved almost 100% of the white vote to even have a chance. Now, with this DWI thing, she pissed off at least half of Roy's base, and they would either not vote at all or vote for her opponent in the run-off. This is all academic anyway. A republican never really had a chance in a minority city. Fuller and Roy are heading for the run-off. Then, this thing gets interesting.

Anonymous said...

Soothsayer rocks...besides, he's usually right, and that alone pisses off bluebloods and blacks alike.

Anonymous said...

the brewer supporters should not feel all is lost. i assure them delores will beat red.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Have ya'll seen the latest Roy tv commercial? It ran several times during jambalaya and Today Show this a.m. It directly attacks Mrs. Brewer, John Brewer and David Brewer regarding Housing Authority contracts. I think this is going to do damage to her. I wonder if her camp will respond to this with another hit at Roy. Is there time?

Anonymous said...

anon. did you feel the commercial was effective?

Anonymous said...

Biff: Yes, I do think the one running today is effective. Do you?
The commercial Roy ran yesterday talked about sweetheart deals but did not name Delores. I think once she attacked him with that mail piece yesterday, he began running this different new spot that does name her.
I'm not sure that those contracts her family has are illegal, per se, but I think they don't pass the smell test as far as the public is concerned.
-anon 8:40

Anonymous said...

Biff, I thought Jacques ad was direct and re-iterated what has been in the press anyway - kind of a refresher message, then it shifted to a more positive tone. I thought it was a good ad. I was shocked when I saw Delores's ad because while we all know that the place needs to be cleaned up, It appears racially divisive and mean spirited. That was my gut reaction. If by some quirk of fate she makes the runoff, I am sure with that ad alone , she offended enough people to nix her chances.

Anonymous said...

i haven't seen the commercials. but i do agree, delores does not have a chance in hell in a run-off and for that reason alone, a vote for delores is a lost vote.

Anonymous said...

DB's spot is not my favorite, but it is certainly not racist. Cleaning up the streets benefits everyone, especially minorities who live in blighted neighborhoods. Some of the code enforcement crackdown would be on the so called bluebloods you people talk about because some of them own property in these areas that they dont take care of. I'll bet if you ask minorities in Sonya Quarters, lower third, etc. if they want their areas cleaned up they would shout out a big "yes."

Anonymous said...

my favorite was brewer's garbage flier. it shows her rifling through sams garbage looking for campaign ideas.

Who Delores hired and who she listens to is a reflection on Delores's consistant display of defective judgment. Even being friend with that Sadler woman shows pretty bad judgment (not to mention bad taste). The Brewer campaign has a history of only taking credit for the good decisions. They avoid responsiblity like Sadler avoids slimfast.

No doubt that the Sadler woman is a troubled person. She's disloyal to the candidates she volunteers for. She bad mouths to people all over town when she can't control things or disagrees with professional strategists, such as Swinehart. You are correct. It is bad judgement on Mrs. Brewer's part to have Sadler anywhere near her campaign.

Biff:
Problem is that the voters that may be picked off of Brewer or Roy from any mudslinging are not going to Sams. Undecided vote not going to him either. Credible polling shows Roy, Brewer and Johnson and maybe Fuller as the real contenders. Downright funny to expect some big black turnout for the doctor that can push him into runoff. But I do appreciate your loyalty. It will be interesting to see where you go when your guy is not in the runoff. I predict both candidates in runoff will seek your support.

Effective ads that could be used against Dr. Sams....

Dr. Sams rented an apartment in order to LIE about his real district when he ran for School Board the first time.

Penny Toney's testimonial from Lamar's blog. She says he continually implied to her colleagues and her superiors that she was a lesbian, which she is not.

Or imagine an ad sponsored by the Bolton Alumni Association. Kinda Swift Boatish, with a group of Bolton alumns talking about how Dr. Sams destroyed their school.

God, it's too bad he isn't a more serious candidate. The ads against him would make Delores ads against Roy look like child's play.

Speaking of lawyers for good government, I see where Albin gave Silver quite a nice chunch-0-change. That's Delores's crowd. They want everything to stay confortable - just the way it is. That nice chunk-0-change is the only change the Brewer camp understands.

I hope the lawyers get the message about how the Brewer campaign feels about them. And I hope they don't forget it.

Anyone on cenla antics know why Lamar is saying on his blog that he is "now" so confused about the mayor's race that he may get so drunk Friday night and that maybe he'll sleep through Saturday? He hasn't seemed confused about up until today--he has consistently spoken up for Mr. Roy. Maybe he doesn't like some of the mudslinging???

Anonymous said...

lamar will announce for sams later tonight.

Anonymous said...

scarlett, so unlike your chronic liar delores?

Anonymous said...

i have been told by the delores camp that my pink flamingos have to go if she is elected. and she will make me plant caladiums.

Anonymous said...

To put all of this in perspective, the Home rule charter was adopted about 26 years ago. At that time we were functioning under a mayor - commissioner form of government with about the same population as we have now. With the luxury of hindsight, are we better off today than we were 26 years ago as a functioning city? What say you?

Anonymous said...

we need to change to a parish president set up like lafayette and baton rouge.

Anonymous said...

Scarlett you are the only person on here who is identifyable who supports Delores. I am new on here. could you please answer the charges about Delores in this commercial? Is any of that true? What is and what is not true?...Not looking for an argument or to be dismissed but a clear response as someoen who knows...thanks..

Anonymous said...

Anon. Let me help you out. The Brewer pigs have been slurping at the city trough for years.

Anonymous said...

The Town Talk has seen fit to put the information in black & white so it is not new news.

Anonymous said...

Does Delores think that by simply calling Jacques a "trial lawyer" over and over people won't vote for him? Silly.

FYI Delores and Co.: Jacques doesn't sue those people, HE IS HIRED BY OTHERS WHO ARE SUING THOSE PEOPLE. Saying HE sues them is like saying a doctor "purposely cuts and mutilates patients." It's ridiculous.

Anonymous said...

at this point, scarlett may be the only person in the galaxy supporting delores. i heard even MS. sadler has jumped ship.

Anonymous said...

"This guy is not the pristine candidate he purports to be."

And Delores is?????

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I thought Scarlett was Ms. Sadler.

Speaking of jumping ship, Biff. You ought to start looking for a life preserver yourself.

Anonymous said...

the biffster promises to be a remarkably poor winner saturday night and gloat and force the non-believers to eat crow.

Anonymous said...

No, anon 5:54, you must be new b/c everyone else knows Scarlett is not Ms. Sadler. Most know who Scarlett is, too. Maybe she'll id herself for you. If not you can see her in some of Brewer's TV spots. She has blonde hair with bangs.

Anonymous said...

Still waiting to hear from Lamar. Very interesting that on cenlamar blog he says he's confused. But Biff, I cannot believe he would come out for Sams unless he's already drunk.

Anonymous said...

anon. it won't happen. the guy that initially read the comment misconstrued it and attributed it to lamar. that was not a lamar post.

Anonymous said...

I would not have said it but my wife, while watching the news about "dirty" politics on Kalb said. Im sorry, i know as a woman I am supposed to be for her but she is a B I T C H. She didnt say that the information Roy printed was wrong. SHE just said it was an attack. I nearly fell out of my chair. I wonder if other women feel that way....incicentally, Ive been married for 30 years and and unfortunatlye used to that whiny bitchy tone that Delores has. Good thing my wife thinks Im answering emails huh!..ha.

Anonymous said...

I just saw the Brewer Commercial and you have to be kidding me. She raised $200,000 from people who do business with the city and they hired an "expert" political consultant and his idea was that the most important issue that the people or Alexandria have is that " we are tired of high grass and grafitti?" UNBELIEVEABLE......and we all thought that NED was out of touch? Hell, I hope that whoever wins this Mayors race doesnt even consider HIRING this lady. I agree , her tone is VERRRRY bitchy.

Anonymous said...

I thought I would throw out a scenario to pique your imagination. The black community unites behind one candidate and eliminates a runoff. The likely candidate would be Joe Fuller of Roosevelt Johnson with my guess being Roosevelt Johnson since Miss Bridgette is reveling in being the next city attorney. Now my question is, have I overexerted myself moving my yard ornaments for no reason or is it a remote possibility? Roosevelt...... Oh Roosevelt, can we talk?

Anonymous said...

not mathmatically possible . But I think we need to get the message out that a vote for Johnson is a vote for Bridgette Brown.

Anonymous said...

i'm thinking of dropping sams. delores' promise to get rid of grafitti and high grass shows me she has a handle on the very serious issues that will confront the new mayor. cleanly is as cleanly does.....

Anonymous said...

spanky, no worries. roosevelt has promised me i can keep my pink flamingos.

Anonymous said...

Anon 6;25: Your a woman with a wife?

Anonymous said...

If Lamar is supporting someone other than Jacques that is the best news I've heard yet. Will probably get Jacques eve more votes.

Anonymous said...

The Lamar comment is not true. Secondly, Roosevelt garnered a large number of white votes in his bid for Council at Large since it was a city wide election showing that he has broad support. What of those people will vote for him for mayor also? Recalculate and tell me if the math is still all wrong bearing in mind that polls can be wholly inaccurate.

Anonymous said...

Jacques and the black candidates have been more respectful of the current mayor than Brewer. After all he is a lawyer. Plus she keeps saying everything is gawd awful

Anonymous said...

Accidently published before completing my post--I think some people are disappointed in DB for biting the hand that fed her so to speak. That's really bitchy.

video: "Dirty Politics" in Alexandria Mayor's Race?KALB - NewsChannel 5 Online
Sep 27, 2006
kalb snip:
Alexandria Mayoral Candidates Delores Brewer and Jacques Roy respond to print and television ads that some are calling "dirty politics."

Click below for their unedited interviews and find out what the voting public thinks.

top vid is ms brewer length 6:15

three vids total however the other two arent working right now. theres the link though.

Anonymous said...

KALB interview was not very flattering to either candidate. The anger was palpable, especially from DB. But Roy wasn't great either, looking at the camera was not a good idea. Not my favorite interview. Yuck.

Anonymous said...

Is Bwerer dillusional. I head wit my own ears on tv her say to Bridgette that the meetings with the lawyers in Baton Rouge was by chance, Then I read Ned refute that the next day in the paper. Delores baby, that was a lie. Of course they Mayor had a right to meet with the lawyers, but that is no excuse about your lying about it. She would have done herself much better by admitting it, that to not answering the question and start sidestepping by saying Ned had a right to meet with the lawyers. I ain't seen a politician like this since Clinton and Trickie Dick.

Anonymous said...

Brewer has some serious psychological issues.

Anonymous said...

The last thing Alexandria needs is to let the Avoyelles Parish Roys get their tentacles around Alexandria. You and your children will regret it for life. There is a reason Avoyelles Parish is a corrupt third world sewer, and that reason is the Roys.

Anonymous said...

civil, we could only get ms brewers vid to play as well but apparantly some other commentators on here have viewed the roy vid.

Anonymous said...

civil, someone needs to e-mail goddard and point out roy's is not working. and yes, you are spot on about delores.

Anonymous said...

ya biff kalb needs to get a better vid player than that microsoft/windows garbage.

Anonymous said...

i'm telling you, sams is looking better and better each passing day. btw, y'all need to go to cenla lamar and read the posting on red. i had no idea she had that kind of experience in the military.

Anonymous said...

mr roys vid is now working its the middle one.

Anonymous said...

we saw that. thanks. again i am a sams supporter, but i feel roy did a better job than brewer on the interview. there is something about brewer that makes me think someone is not home. she says her husband was just an agent and did not make that much money. the insurance company made the money. what the f*ck does that have to do with the ethical question. "well, the insurance company made more than my husband so it's ok". i'm telling you, delores is missing some of the face cards out of the deck.

Anonymous said...

hmm well in our opinion for whats its worth which isnt much we have to give that match to ms brewer. we expected mr roy to say that if someone comes to him seeking help in getting a hardship drivers license sure he would help them; that there isnt anything dirty or untoward about it and we should blame the legislature for having that part in the law. one the other hand ms brewer should have cited specific cases instead of leaving it up to the voter to "go to the courthouse" and find them ourselves after all if someone is going to make allegations they should provide all the proof.

Anonymous said...

well they were both good "strategeries" they just werent executed well.

Anonymous said...

i suspect (and hope) that the negative campaigning will help sams. people do get turned off by negative ads.

Anonymous said...

biff, if that man on the street vid is any indication it could very well be so that dr sams will get a bump up.

Anonymous said...

if dr sams is smart he needs to come out with something for friday and saturday saying something along the lines of "see everyone says that iam so controversial but i have conducted the cleanest campaign" blah blah blah.

Delores says that people need to know that Roy is a lawyer and sues people. I think he has adeqquestly advertised that fact. I don't see that he has tried to hide the fact that he is a lawyer. Look in the Phone Book.
Also interesting is Delores showing her true colors and saying that lawsuits are bad for business. No doubt businesses would flock into Alexandria if they were allowed to kill and injure people with defective products with no answering for it. And we would have more money made by hospitals and nursing homes if they did not have to pay judgments for cutting off the wrong leg, or killing your grandmother by giving the wrong medication. And if a City truck runs a red light and hits your car, and puts you in the hospital, and would not have to pay for it, maybe the City could build its waterslide with the saved money. Well here is a Civics lesson Delores, judges and juries award damages, not Jacques Roy. Your elected Legislature passes the laws that allow people to sue. So according to Delores and her blue blood crowd, we should let them kill and injure people so that they ca make more money. Reminds me of Marie Antoinette and her "Let them eat cake" remark. And like Marie people will get Delores out of the Palce this Saturday.

Anonymous said...

the thing about ms brewers crowd of blue blood lawyers is that they are lawyers for white collar criminals and they also lawyer for corporate crooks and so forth. mr roy as we understand lawyers for the downtrodden.

Anonymous said...

What is with these telephone polls? They ask if you are voting for Roy or Brewer. Last time I checked there were more than two candidates running for mayor. I have talked to two people that haved received these calls from pollsters. They told them they had decided to vote for Sams and got hung up on. The more I hear about some of the other candidates and their campaign tactics (or whatever term they use for the mudslinging that is going on), the more certain I am that Sams is the man for the job.

True We Saw That, Delores' buddies, Saddler and Provosty, represent insurance companies, many of which are currently screwing the Katrina victims over. Good lawyers. Jacques Roy and layers who represent the common man, bad.
Lets get rid of the blue blood silk stocking elitist, who know whats best for us trash, and stop them once and for all for playing us for fools and making money off of us.

oh we would lump charlie weems and the so called gold law firm and the two federal judges from their firm as well as the ninth judicial court lap poodles of theirs in that group. that lot is a major poision to our community.

The punctuation poster is too funny...

Anonymous said...

Hey We Saw That, you seem to have a problem with the DA. Is it the man or just the position that troubles?

Anonymous said...

lol looks like the da has his own troubles and the 3rd circuit agrees.

Anonymous said...

WeSawThat, you were asking about the resolution from the special meeting of the city council. They now have it posted, but have deleted the minutes from the 26th regular meeting. I called the city clerk after the special meeting to find out if they were using an emergency ordinance or a regular ordinance. Either would have been against the charter as an emergency ordinance would not meet criteria and a regular ordinance would have to be laid back for 7 days for publication and public discussion. I was then told that a resolution was passed, which is what is in the record, however there is no mention of paying Mr. Hamilton in the resolution. I am sure tht he expects to get paid and I did not see anything on the 26th meeting before it was removed. It would be interesting to find out how that was handled as it may indicate a pattern of how other things have happened.

Anonymous said...

How bout them Diamond Ear Rings DB is wearing in the interview. Think that got paid for by them meager payments her husband got as a little bitty insurance Agent??

Anonymous said...

thanks spanky. we havent viewed it yet but is it possible that the lawyers fee payment was below a dollar amount that would require council action and approval to pay?

Anonymous said...

also perhaps the city is waiting for the the lawyer "Leo C. Hamilton from Baton Rouge Law Firm of Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson" to send them a bill. probably payable on a net 30 schedule or something similar.

Anonymous said...

Spanky,

There was an ordinance introduced by Kelvin during one of the committee meetings last Tuesday to pay those fees. Look for it on the consent calender for the next Council Meeting. FYI, most of the sneaky stuff is introduced from the floor during the committee meetings by Mr. Sanders so you have to attend each of them if you really want to know whats going on.

Anonymous said...

I guess it is bad to be a trial lawyer and represent the poor, underprivileged little person in court, but it is o.k. to sit atop an ivory tower downtown and represent the city, billing for every waking moment "City of Alexandria" pops into the lawyers head.

You are so right Anon 11:11.

Anonymous said...

Provosty, Sadler & deLauney gave Myron $2500. Does that tell you something about "change" and "independence" in the Brewer campaign. What a bunch of complete whores. Delores ain't about change.

Anonymous said...

I still contend that Dr. John Sams is the true change candidate.

Anonymous said...

After all the hype about everything, Dr. Sams is really starting to emerge as the only sane, dependable, and principaled candidate. Do you really think that people who behave like Roy and Brewer will suddenly become nice people on Oct. 1st ? What we see is what we get. Be careful

Anonymous said...

The run down on the city attorney provision is why I have been looking for an ordinance. Mr. Hamilton or any other special counsel can only be paid by ordinance.

Anonymous said...

see it you can find an ordinance from almost a year ago when nedmund hired charlie weeks to move the chambers et al suit from state court to weems law partners federal court and how much the city got soaked in legal fees for that.

Anonymous said...

Sams goes negative every day of his life, by merely opening his mouth to speak. So, he has to try to mask his true nature by running positive TV spots. But Biff, there is something to be said about the two mudslingers unwittingly helping Sams among the undecided voters--many of whom don't know Sams personally. But I still say Sams can't make it in on Saturday.

Anonymous said...

mr. reality check. i think this race is VERY volatile right now. My kids nanny in good earth asked my yesterday about who i am voting for for mayor. she is smart, but the point being, a goodly number of people wait until the last week to actually decide. with that in mind, i think the few so called polls that have been tossed around on this blog are weak at best. at various times, both roy and brewer have claimed up to 38% of the vote individually. that would mean 76% of the white vote, leaving the other two candidates sharing 24% or roughly 12 percent each. i for one think it is a lot closer than that between roy, brewer and sams. but we shall see. i honestly believe there is a fair chance that sams may make the run off, depending on several factors. those on this blog that have totally written him off are gonna be surprised saturday night. all IMHO.

I just watched the KALB videos about negative campaigning-- glad Delores is speaking out about the attacks Roy is making on her family. She finally made a few GOOD points about the fact that she was not involved. Roy looked like a fool if you ask me. Delores should not have sent out a negative flyer either--but Roy's was worse--and he sights as his "source" the Town Talk and KALB HAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!! What a laugh!!

Any one running for mayor should really try to think beyond a campaign-- Roy has turned a lot of people off with not running on his positives but pointing out negatives-- as far as I am concerned this has back fired on him, and to a lesser extent , Brewer.
