Bewildered!

This little project has exploded beyond belief. However not all of the content is worthwhile and even belongs on this blog. I was taught that a gentleman never speaks of sex, religion or politics in polite company. However are these not three very interesting topics? They do seem to generate debates with great energy. This being said, we can operate with a a certain amount of decorum, after all we are all "gentlemen" and "ladies".

If it has nothing to do with politics, it has nothing to do with this site. Personal insults are uncalled for and unnecessary. I have become a hall monitor!

Yes, for those who can't focus, this site has been disrupted by several candidates campaigns. Seeds of discontent have been sewn in all campaigns. It is inevitable with blogs.

The old adage "Opinions are like back sides, everyone has one!" is true. Some of them are sensible, some are not. Let's stick to the game folks ... half time is over.

It's been a slice, folks...but this is my final post. I will neither read nor respond to comments on Cenla Antics anymore. I refuse to be part of a blog run by a self proclaimed "hall monitor." Whatever happened to free speech?

Anonymous said...

Free speech always had the limitation of responsibility, you know "fire in a crowded theater". Free speech never contained the right to injure people at your anonymous whim and without reprocussion. I am glad that this blog set certain decent limits. Bravo Antics.

When the terrorist orgainization do crummy stuff they at least own up to it. This blog had become the ambushing coward's hunting ground.

Anonymous said...

This isn't a theater and it isn't an arena of free speech. The definiion of decency lies in the opinion of the individual not some self appointed hall monitor of egostical youth possessing immature intellect, civil servants and others of these character shortcomings.

Anonymous said...

I believe that's what the blogger at 4:11 is doing.

Anonymous said...

Civil such an original posting. Do you dream up these comebacks yourself or do you have help? Typical response from a child if you don;t like the way we play our little game go elsewhere.

Anonymous said...

I have to agree. This thing is set up to post what you want, when you want, and anonymously. It is just sad that it gets as nasty as it does. I think debates and arguments are better when they are civil. When they turn immature and nasty I tend to think the person is FOS and just trying to smear with no cause.

Anonymous said...

The trouble with arguing with a fool is that other people may not be able to distiguish which is which. And the beat goes on.

Anonymous said...

Let us remember what this is. It is a docking point on the internet where we gather to discuss politics and all things Cenla. If we were to meet face to face and attempt the same level of discourse, someone would have to moderate or things would quickly spin out of control. Cenla Antics is trying to moderate his own blog, which he has the right to do.

Survey says...follow the rules or play elsewhere. Arriving at the game late, without any regard for the rules, other players, or umpires is a sure way to get tossed.

The internet is the greatest boon the concept of free speech has ever seen and it in and of itself has spread the message of freedom around the world like nothing ever before seen. Free speech is a concept inserted into our constitution to protect us from the gov't as were all parts and amendments. Free speech in a free society is essential, but cenla antics is correct. This is the playground of cenla antics and just like my living room I have the power to tell my guest they cannot do certain things that they would do in their living room. Property rights are absolute also. So what I may say in my living room, Cenla Antics has the right to tell me that to continue to be his guest I cannot speak with impunity. I think he is making a mistake and I believe his site will be much better if he extends the bounds to endless freedom of speech as this living room is dedicated to ideas and however expressed are available to all and for all. I'm still going to participate but I hope Cenla Antics will reconsider. Anyway, Fuck you very much. Can't help myself.

There are few conflicts among rational individuals and I believe conversations on this site will go on with any major cataclysmic events taking place. Even when you throw in irrational comments I don't believe harm will come to anyone. Rational folks will ignore their banter and they will be exposed for what they are. That is what is so great about free speech, I can expose them for what they are with the written word. Let's keep it free.

Anonymous said...

Congradulations Antics. A "Yo Momma" or "You are fat" argument is not worthy of debate, nor is the one who posts it worthy of free speech. Perhaps the biggest freedom a blogger has is to open his own blog. So for those who do not like this one, start your own.

Anonymous said...

By the Way, has anyone heard any more about the rumors that William Earl is to resign ?

Anonymous said...

What about the biggest news of the mayor's race so far. The Town Talk nuked the Brewer campaign today. Its over. The blueblood republican does not get the Town Talk endorsment. This is cataclysmic. Its now Jaques and a black candidate in the run-off. All this is happening and you guys are arguing the subtlties of the 1st Amendment. Very bizzare.

Anonymous said...

The TT endorsement would have been nice for Mrs. Brewer to have, but it won't knock her out of the runoff. I predict she will be in it with either Roosevelt or Roy.

Anonymous said...

hey civil, it might have something to do with the fact that we switched over to the new beta blogger a couple of weeks ago. posting comments is all screwed up across blogger until everyone switches to the new blogger. for example we cant post under our account because this blog hasnt switched over yet. thats why theres no picture we have to click "other" to comment.

we assume that since you have a display name you probably have the old style blogger associated with it even though you dont have a blog or have it set to invisible. if you feel like experimenting you can switch your blog over to the new beta blogger or try creating a blog in the new beta format (it should be automatic) then if you want deleting the blog - then maybe you can post comments in your account.

but the caveat will be that you will have to post like we are doing until cenla antics, antiX and cenlamar switch over

(the new beta bloggers "blogger nav bar" is different to the old style blogs)

Anonymous said...

ps if cenla antics wanted to switch over there is are templates you can choose that will allow you to give your comments an rss feed so we could keep track of comments through a feed reader.

So now this Greg Aymond, who obviously is universally admired by all' is telling me that anyone who doesn't agree with him is not welcome on this site. He will tell me what is worthy of debate and who is worthy of free speech. I know now all I need to know about Greg Aymond. I suggest Greg you stay in the courtroom where the use of force is a way of life for lawyers. Freedom is not your forte'.

Thee Saints are two and Zero. Best I felt about them in decades. It's fun again to watch them play. Can't wait for their return to the Superdome next Monday night. And if LSU had a more seasoned offensive line we would all be in hawg heaven. OH, well, if frogs had wings! And we got a couple of those questionable calls Saturday. Next stop, Superbowl.

No Liberty or Death, perhaps you do not belive in the freedom of this Blog owner to do with his blog as he likes? This is Antics' blog, and he has the "liberty and freedom" to allow what he wants, just as you have the freedom to open your own blog. Is that so difficult to understand? Do I have the liberty of comming into your home whenever I want and saying whatever I want. I doubt it. You see, that is one of the liberties you fail to realize, that of private property. There are legal restrictions upon the time and place of the exercise of free speech. It has never been absolute.
By the way, as you can see by many of the posts on here, I clearly am not universally admired by all.

Anonymous said...

I am done reading this dribble. Instead, I'm gonna spend my time campaigning for my candidates for mayor and city council.

Anonymous said...

Greg, freedom of speech is absolute by definition as any restriction eleminates freedom. It is however true that you lawyers and judges being repulsed by freedom, prefering force as the means of resolving disputes, have eroded most of our freedoms and distorted the concepts of our founding fathers. If you are opposed to freedom of speech or any other of the freedoms guaranteed us by the constitution, then just say so, don't hide behind diluting them with the statement "they are not absolute" since if they are not absolute then they don't exist at all. Have the balls to admit you want to restrict our freedoms and determine which things are not covered. What part of freedom do you not understand?

Anonymous said...

Greg not only are you not admired by all the list of those that do admire you probably only has one line.

Lawyers of your ilk and Judges get a God complex. So accustomed to dispen sing "justice" they become to believe they are the higher authority.

Freedom of Speech means exactly that - Freedom of Speech. This BS about screaming fire, etc is just that - BS. Reminds me of the old joke where the foreman told the nun that he was sorry but his men were accustomed to calling a spade a spade...

It is crusaders like you that have resulted in political correctness. I have never been interested in your postings or those against you. I figure the business of those north of the river is tyhe business of those north of the river. However, when you start trying to direct your rabble rousing comments towards those on this side of the river I must object.

By all accounts most have decided you are more controversy than they desire to put up with. I can understand why. Seems a lawyer would defend free speech on a blog open to public comment. This is not a living room.

Anonymous said...

Apparently some of you failed to take civics in school. Congress and state legislatures, not lawyers and judges make laws, such as distrubing the peace statutes. You ever heard of sedition laws, which were passed by many of this country's founding fathers? And before you say it, the Louisiana Legislature is comprised of only somewhere around one third or less of lawyers.
So there is absolutely no basis for saying that freedom of speech was every absolute in this country. You do not even have the "freedom" to play loud rap music in your car in Alexandria. See your guidance counselor for academic credit in civics and history. Also, if you feel that strongly about it, perhaps we should ask the candidates their posistions on disturbing the peace ordinaces as being an infringment on your freedom of speech?

Anonymous said...

Oh by the way Anon, shall we allow you to select who has freedom of speech. I am a citizen of Alexandria, so don't I get some of that freedom too? I do not only speak of the North side of the river, but also this side. And doesn't "Cenla", as in Cenla Antics, encompass more that just the City of Alexandria?

Biff,

My guess is that the TT endorsement actually garnered 400 votes for Gay Coleman. Your an idiot. The endorsement of the TT was absolutely expected to be for Brewer. Her failure to recieve it has spelled the end of her campaign. Now, lets try to move on to something debatable, like who is going to be Roy's opponent in November.

As I read through the blog, I see that Liberty or Death is testing me. Should I delete a statement that has some merit just because someone uses profanity? Liberty or Death obviously has intelligence and the ability to express themselves WITHOUT the use of profanity. Dilema?
This is not accidental but a deliberate attempt to force my hand. I am a proponent of everything American and will defend it with my life. I do however have respect in myself and country and will not allow the stupidity of certain factions to corrupt the original intentions of our forefathers. Yes, freedom of speech is important, but human decency plays into it.

So I put this to a vote. Do I delete Liberty or Deaths posting, which exudes intelligence but in closing shows a complete disregard for others or do I leave it alone?

I remained neutral while the bantering continued and thought a few cards would fall on the table in due course. Little did I realize just how far the good ole boys could reach to stifle justice. Rant as you will about Greg not being credible, but I have seen with my eyes and heard with my ears the evidence that he purports to have. All I can say to Greg's detractors is that the worm will turn and I will bring some salt for your crow. Quickly and with no discussion, the Alexandria City Council on Thursday nominated and passed 6-0 the appointment of local merchant Harry Silver to fill the unexpired term of former District 4 Councilman Rick Ranson.

Silver, 83, owner of Weiss & Goldring and long a name in civic causes, said he wants "to see what's on the (council's) plate" before he spells out what he wants to accomplish.

Silver will be sworn in at the regular council meeting, which begins at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

"I happen to be in love with the city of Alexandria," Silver said after Thursday's vote.

Silver would not say if he'll run in next fall's regular election.

"I think it's premature" to discuss a run next year, he said. "I haven't even been sworn in yet."

However, two councilmen said after the Thursday meeting that Silver has pledged not to run for election next year.

"I was looking for somebody who wasn't running" next year, said council President Charles F. Smith Jr.

At-large Councilman Myron Lawson confirmed Silver's pledge and said, "We wanted someone who would bring some flavor (to the council) and also someone who would not run."

Both council members also said the vote was not a done deal before the meeting.

"This was no preconceived, slotted thing," Lawson said.

Of the three or more names of possible replacements floated since Ranson announced he would resign, only Silver was in council chambers for Thursday's vote.

Lawyer Marc Lampert, who actively lobbied for the position after two neighborhood groups endorsed him, didn't attend the meeting. He said he believes the council's decision was made before the meeting started.

"Harry Silver has never been the issue to me," Lampert said. "But why do you blow off the wishes of a significant portion of the community?"

When Ranson announced he would resign, he asked the council to consider neighborhood associations' wishes on who would replace him.

The Garden District Neighborhood Foundation and the Wedgewood Downs/Memorial Neighborhood Watch group endorsed Lampert, who said he'd never commit to not running next fall.

Suzie Butler, with the Wedgewood group, said "it's real unfortunate" Lampert wasn't chosen, but "we will have the opportunity to run someone in 11 months."

Smith and Lawson said they preferred a fresh election next year, and with no incumbent to run in District 4, new candidates would not have an uphill fight battling someone with political name recognition.

They lauded Silver's business acumen, adaptability and history.

"He'll bring in not only the history of Central Louisiana ... he is one who did not sleep through the revolution" of computer technology and clothing changes, Lawson said. "I think he's an honorable man."

Silver also brings in a Rolodex of business connections, a commodity needed to pull more business-minded talent into Alexandria and its government, Smith said.

"We have too much talent out there in (the) business" community, Smith said.

Though there was no council discussion before the vote, there were plenty of accolades for Silver afterward.

"He has a proven record of working with people in this town," said Ben Johnson of the Alexandria Human Relations Commission.

Beware Spanky my friend. Those who lie with dogs tend to collect fleas.

Survey says...If his collection had any merit, Aymond would have prevailed in a civil court. He lost. If his collection proved any criminal wrongdoing, the guilty would pay for their crimes. Numerous law enforcement agencies found no wrongdoing at all. By reputation, Aymond is a tarbaby...careful not to get soiled.

Oohh no anon, you are so right. I better tell her she is done for!! Oh my!! What am I to do. Please somebody, help me, I am so scared now, I feel so lost and helpless please tell me who to vote for for the love of God Anon!!

it fascinates me that you would vote for a proven LIAR. that is really what we need for mayor. how sad that a responsible voter would even consider voting for a big time LIAR.

Anonymous said...

what's even more facinating is that scarlett's comeback to the statements about delores lying is that no one is reading this blog or paying attention.

so let me get this straight.

you're not denying that delores lied. you're just calling the people who make such statements pitiful. fine.

you're also expressing your belief that any statements about delores lying, which you haven't really denied, are not that detrimental to her chances, because, thankfully, no one's really paying attention to this blog.

vote for brewer, because ignorance is bliss and only a lonely, pitiful person would point out the fact that she's a liar.

wow. sounds like the brewer camp really has lost steam.

she needs to drop the hell out. if she cares anything for the people and the businesses of alexandria, she'd drop the hell out of the race right now and hand it to roy in the primary.

she needs to stop these stupid push polls. they're only making her look more weak and more vulnerable. really.

Anonymous said...

Why in the world would Brewer (the frontrunner) pull out of the race? You think because two or three people on a blog say she's finished that she'll pack up her headquarters and go home? Are you the same people who said there would be a bomb dropped on her in the Ch. 5 debate and that she would be finished? Didn't happen. Brewer will maintain her lead as long as she and her team keep working as hard as they have up until this time. She WILL be in a runoff, and, if you have any experience in political races, you know it. Right now the most interesting part of the race is the number two spot. I predict a a very close margin between the second and third place candidates in the runoff. Can't handicap the runoff until we know who pulls off getting to second place.

2cool4school:
Come on! Scarlett did not agree that Delores lied. I am sure that like the rest of us who know and support Delores, Scarlett knows that she did not lie. Scarlett also knows that it is downright silly to say that Delores is finished. Maybe you should shake your ITC disease and go back to school, baby. It would be good for you.

Anonymous said...

because she's no longer the frontrunner, no matter what her yes-men, hired consultants, and push polls tell her. she needs to confront reality. even if she makes the run-off, she won't win. no way.

Anonymous said...

don't mince words. she's a liar and you know it. lied at the council meeting, the next day ned chopped her legs out from under her, verifying her lie, and then she has the unmitigated gall to call it a "figure of speech" in her kalb blog. again, what's pathetic is you have no problem supporting a liar, and in fact will lie about her lies. good grief.

Anonymous said...

Is Delores wearing a BADGE ih her tough on crime ad?? It sure looks like it, she has on all black too, just like a real policeman. WOW. I am going to vote for her.

delores and her silk stocking crowd are about to be the beneficiary of a big time ass whipping. you think the liar would be using that push poll against roy if she was actually in contention?

Anonymous said...

Cenla Antics, we have no conflict as I grant you your right to censor any comments on your blog as it is your private property. I respect property rights and freedom of speech. Tis true I test you occasionally just to see your reaction which I can tell leans toward freedom. Also it really bothers you to come close to censorship. I predict his blog will remain free and few will complain. We will ignore the ingorant and enjoy our freedom. Look closely at the ones who want you to clamp down on freedom and then at those who do not fear it. Good luck my friend.

Scarlet, if you like DB so much, how come you only gave her a thousand dollars?

Anonymous said...

Soothsayer,
If you saw the material I saw, it would be evident to you that we as citizens cannot depend on those that we elect to protect the public interest to do so. That goes from the state level on down to the local level. It may become evident over the next couple of weeks that this is not a dead issue. Until then, It might be wise to find out if the fox is guarding the hen house.

Anonymous said...

Dear Steel Mags, So DB didn't lie. How can you say that with a semi straight face. She said chance meeting when it was definitely planned in advance which she knew, and then denied. This Ms Steel is a lie. And then Ms Speak lied again by saying she misspoke. A lie by any other name is a lie. A lie is a lie is a lie. Do not embarass yourself by becoming intellectually dishonest in your attempt to defend a person who leaves her defenders without ammunition. She let you down and is letting you hang out there alone. You should be in her face about that particular falsehood and either get an apology or tell her to find supporters among the getalonggoodolegovtgang. I think you deserve better, don't you? If you don't then you then know what you have become. But it sure ain't a Steel Magnolia, maybe a wilted lettuce salad. Think about it and let us know what the prevaricator said, or are you afraid to confront her?

You folks obviously have no other ammunition, so you perpetuate this ridiculous charge and call her supporters the "silk stocking crowd." But I say that since you call yourself "proboscis enlarged," maybe you are the liar...as in Pinnochio. Watch it, because every time you claim your guy's the frontrunner your snout's gonna grow!

The Bentley Hotel, the Sports Arena, the Water Park - if you build it they will come, except--------->

City of Alexandria shuts off hotel's utilities for nonpayment

The city pulled the plug on utilities for the Louisiana Convention Centre and Hotels on MacArthur Drive this afternoon. Guests had been informed around noon to gather their belongings and leave.

The hotel was more than $73,000 behind in paying its bills, said Alexandria city spokesman Ken Juneau.

“They weren’t paying, so just like anyone, they got their utilities shut off,” Juneau said.

Juneau said the city informed British American Properties III, the Houston-based limited partnership that owns the hotel that lights, gas and water would be shut off if past-due bills weren’t paid about a week ago.

Company officials said they have filed for bankruptcy protection from their creditors, but city officials said lawyers advised them that they could cut services from the hotel for nonpayment.

Ergo, the tourism didn't leave because the Bentley shut down, the Bentley shut down because there was no tourism. Wise up and quit falling for the glitzy bullshit.

Two huge questions remain: 1) Which black candidate will be in the run-off with Roy? 2) Will Brewer, Sams or both pull a Couhig and endorse the black candidate in return for power? Stay tuned!

Anonymous said...

it hasnt been shown that the louisiana convention centre closed because of a lack of business (tourism) although that could be the case. according to your article the parent company has filed for bankruptcy. so it could be that the parent company was using the convention centre receipts elsewhere.

Anonymous said...

My question is, how many months in arrears was the convention center before they were cut off like everyone else? I cannot see the utility department giving me a year free ride, can you?

Anonymous said...

We,

I agree with your analysis. The LA Convention Center has enjoyed heavy bookings along with the hotels they own. Apparently the money was being siphoned off. This company made big promises when they bought the place from Hadnot's daughter but never delivered. When will the "Crown Hotel" across the street be cut off? I heard they are even further behind on their utilities than the LCC was. In fact, that place needs to be condemned and demolished.

Public Record Request is Made on Delores Brewer
By: Diana Iles
diles@kalb.com
Sep 18, 2006

A local attorney, Robert Beck, has made a public records request on Delores Brewer. Beck, a Jacques Roy supporter, requested a number of things including Brewer's expense reports and her computer communication, including emails, while she worked for the city.

The city responded by saying it would labor-intensive and said it would cost Beck about $1500 in overtime work to fill his request.

In a letter back to the city Beck says, "My belief is that the City of Alexandria is avoiding production of the requested records in an apparant effort to shield Ms. Brewer from disclosures contained in the records."

Beck says he filed the request because he believed Brewer was using city ties to campaign while she was working for the city.

*Beck says he made the request on his own, however Roy did know he made it.

Anonymous said...

So you think that the parent company elected to slaughter the cash cow and sacrifice this lucrative market to dash on the utility bill? Not too likely . . .

From the Sept. 18 Town Talk:

"The lawsuit against Hotel Bentley owner Bob Dean still has not been filed, one year after Alexandria opened Convention Hall to hurricane evacuees from Dean's nursing homes in Lake Charles and New Orleans.
Dean has not paid an invoice for more than $30,000 to house the residents for weeks following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Lawyers from the city and an outside law firm have bounced the suit back and forth, and now it sits again on City Attorney Kelvin Sanders' desk.

Sanders said recently the city has another two years to file the suit, and that the holdup is finding out which of Dean's businesses to sue."

Or could the holdup be that part of the deal for the purchase of the Bentley, cluttered up with Myron and Harry, would be the forgiveness of the debt allegedly owed by Mr. Dean?

Anonymous said...

woooooooooooo...wait a cotton pickin minutes...She wants to take credit for working at the City yet she does not want her emails and her expenses reviewed? All this is going to prove is how many e-mails Delores never responded to and how many phone calls she didn't return.

Anonymous said...

Now it makes sense why our bills are so high apparently hotels haven't been paying their bills while the rest us having been scraping together pennies.

Anonymous said...

Scarlett, if Delores is truly about government transparency, then it should be absolutely no problem for her to deliver the requested materials.

Anonymous said...

Perhaps not being able to pay its utiity bills, is why the Louisiana Convention Center filed a lawsuit, a few months ago, seeking damages for mold in the hotel? It alleges that the mold formed several years ago, but are just now suing for it.
As to Brewer, if, and I stress if, Brewer was utilizing city e-mail for her campaign, that, in and of itself, is a violation of law and another reason not to vote for her. Contrary to state law, Ned's administration has a long history of doing all it can to block public records requests.

If the candidates truly wish to be tough on crime, they can start with this. Monday morning, according to several witnesses, Alexandria Police
Officer, Frankie Crooks, rear ended a car letting out a child at
Carbrini School. Prior to that collision, officer Crooks was obeserved
driving erradically, with two children in his truck. After the
collision, Officer Crooks exited his vehicle and was unable to walk
correctly. Witnesses told the investigating officer, Officer Tullos,
that Crooks appeared intoxicated or on drugs.
Instead of testing him, as would have been done to me or you, the
deputy assigned to the school had Mr. Crooks park his truck and gave
him a ride home.
What will be done about this ? What are the facts? Is there a double standard here?
Waiting to hear from you Chief Coutee, with the same investigation that your department conducts in "normal" DWI cases.

How come the only evidence of support of Brewer seems to come from two ladies who sound like they are voting for home room monitor. Is anybody else out there actually suggesting she be elected. Incidentallly I have no horse in this race, but for the life of me I can't see why they will not admit what is so obvious to every other living human being who has not been under a rock for the last two months. I must be another meanie who when asks for the truth becomes even meaner.

anon makes a good point. it seems like the two kool aid drinkers, scarlett and steel magnolia are the only ones that deny delores is a proven liar.

Anonymous said...

I don't think that supporters of proven dishonest candidates deny their propensity to lie - I think their position is that "it doesn't matter". It's like "they might not lie in the future" or "they wouldn't lie about important stuff" "fundemental honesty isn't important" or the average voter "is too f____ing stupid to know the difference".

The really sad part is that I don't know if they are right or not. It is quite frightening.

It's also worthwhile noting that the supporters of the silk stocking mayoral and council candidates don't really think that we of the common rabble deserve an explaination.

Anonymous said...

if she has the unmitigated gall to lie TWICE while the tape is running, you can rest assured lying is a major tool of her trade.

Anonymous said...

scarlett, you can do this. breath in and breath out. now say, "yes, delores is a liar, but i could care less and will continue to support her".

Anonymous said...

I really don't understand the problem. If the city or the police or a large corporation or an insurance company or the government does wrong, isn't the courtroom the only proper forum for addressing those wrongs. Isn't that want we want our mayor to do: to identify wrongs, confront them, and correct them? Roy has done a good job of protecting the rights and interests of those that have entrusted their problems to him. Isn't that what we are looking for? Aren't we looking for someone to take on the big guys that take advantage of us and kick their ass? I sure am.

Wow Scarlett,

Calm down. I had you pegged for a professional.

You have posted a handful of flat-out lies, including one about Jacques Roy "hanging up" on someone who refused to change their vote. (Which is absolutely absurd).

It's not as pernicious as the push poll recently conducted, but it still warranted a retraction.

Do you believe that you shouldn't be held accountable for the words you write or the lies that you spread?

Do you really think that this is serving the best interests of your candidate's campaign?

On a side note, I never lied about Jacques' poll; I simply said it wasn't being conducted by members of his campaign (It was contracted out) and that it wasn't "nasty" (Notice that no one can name a single "nasty" question asked). Go back and read the archives Scarlett. Yes, I was being evasive. Forgive me.

In a democracy, we are free to express ourselves, and I have done my best to provide a venue in which the open exchange of ideas can flourish.

But when you spread out and out lies (and when you refuse to confirm your sources or details), you're not exchanging ideas; you're spreading lies. I know you're not a journalist, but I suggest you familiarize yourself with basic journalistic ethics. During the past few months, I have had to make a few retractions; I had sources that told me bad information, and once it was corrected, it was my ethical duty to retract said statement.

To the other bloggers, the only reason I know Scarlett's identity is because SHE revealed it to me in March when she sent me an e-mail. I have the e-mails to prove it. Thank you, Gmail.

I have respected her opinion on the issues, even though I thought she completely overreacted when I made fun of Rush Limbaugh.

Scarlett wrote me back and said that she believes she has the right to spread "information," regardless of whether or not she's checked her facts. In other words, it seems to me that she's eager to spread ANY information that could be used against Mr. Roy, even when it's blatently false. And when confronted with the facts (that she's spreading lies), instead of being reasonable, she has stated that this is somehow her democratic right.

As far as revealing her identity, I told her I would not want to do this, that it would be regretful, and that all I wanted was information and a retraction.

I think that's fair. It's not being "dirty." It's reasonable.

Anonymous said...

"Scarlett said...

Lamar - You take the cake!"

Thank you, I guess.

"I am not lying about anything. I am simply passing on information that has been passed on to me."

Unfortunately, this information has no basis in fact, and is therefore, a lie. Mr. Roy never hung up on a Brewer supporter and considering this is Mr. Roy's first political campaign, I don't understand how you can accuse his "family" of running the dirtiest campaigns this side of the Mississippi.

"Most of the information on this and your blog hasn't even been passed on. It's just simply someone's opinion. It was my impression, and many conversations have taken place on the blog about this, that blogs are stating one's feelings, impressions or thoughts."

I agree with you that much of the information exchanged on this blog is based on opinion, but it's not an OPINION to state that Jacques hung up on a Brewer supporter; it was intended as an expository statement of fact. A simple fact check would have cleared up this misconception.

"You, Lamar, are out of control. You do not own this blog or the internet."

I am out of control? I approached you privately and respectfully concerning factual errors in your posts. Only minutes later, you decided to broadcast our private correspondance, without giving any context, on this blog.

"I can't remember how you got my email. That must have been a long time ago. I can't remember where I put my keys a few minutes ago much less who emailed who."

Well, I have archived e-mails if you'd like to have your memory refreshed.

"I, personally, believe you are playing dirty pool here by threatening me this way."

Threatening you? I am honestly sorry that you feel threatened. My intent was simply to clear up the record and to ensure that those who read this blog are not mislead by untruths.

"You are scoring no points with anyone. Again, I am not lying."

So what exactly do you call it when you spread and share other people's lies? If you're not lying, you have certainly elected to share other people's lies in an open forum. And that to me is neither honest or decent.

"And, Lamar, I am not a journalist and don't pretend to be one."

My point is that, as a blogger, you are still held legally accountable for the words you write and that it would be beneficial for you to understand journalistic ethics.

"If everyone on this blog painstakingly researched every contribution to this blog first, there would be very few contributions."

With all due respect, I don't think that is true.

"You have taken advantage of someone's trust here. If I sent you an email, I am certain that I did not intend for you to confiscate my information and announce it to the world. You have become a major disappointment, my dear."

Ma'am, again, I was not the person who first posted about our private e-mail correspondance. You made the decision to go public, and that's your right. Secondly, I haven't "confiscated" any information; it was volunteered to me by you.

I regret I have disappointed you. My only intention was to ensure that the truth was being told.

I have agreed with almost nothing Scarlet has said since I first glanced at this forum but you have made my day most interesting. Rumor has it that the latest tracking poll commissioned by the business cabal, has Roy up over Brewer by 4 points.

The reason most cited by the voters for their distaste of Brewer is the phone calls that they, or members of their family, have gotten.

Survey says... push polls are a dangerous way to gain ground in a tight campaign. Sometimes they backfire by building resentment among the voters. This seems to have happened in the Brewer poll.

If Roy and a black gets in then Roy wins with black crossovers and the whites that supported Delores will charge Roys quarter with votes and money. It seems like a black or Roy and I think right now I'd put my money on Roy. Pretty good surge for just a few weeks. He has Delores backpeddling and is on the offensive. Anyone who has ever followed this blog knows that Scarlett is just a talking head for the Brewer campaign. A week or two ago Scarlett said she is with Brewer all of the time.

She spread lies on behalf of Brewer. Lamar wrote her to tell her that he knew she was telling lies. She never denied this. She thinks her lies are just a matter of perspective. Such bullshit. Instead of being honest, which she and her candidate claim to be, she got all of you in a hissy fit by claiming that Lamar "threatened" her.

Lamar, you don't have to, but if I were you, I'd post the letter you sent to Scarlett.

Blogger said...

Dear Scarlett,

During the past few weeks, you have posted a handful of flat-out lies, including, most recently, that Jacques Roy hung up on someone after they wouldn't committ to giving him their vote. This is a reckless and irresponsible prevarication, and I would hope that you would correct this as soon as possible.

I have spoken with Jacques concerning your statements, and if necessary, he may be contacting you in order to correct the record. If necessary, the record may be directly corrected on the blog, and though I would regret exposing anyone's identity, I believe we are each obligated to tell the truth and to run a fair and measured campaign.

On a side note, Jacques' wife Wendy received the push poll phone call.

I commend you for your alligiance and pride in Mrs. Brewer, who I also find to be an exceptional woman, but when you post untruths on behalf of her campaign, you are ultimately doing Mrs. Brewer and all of those who work for her a disservice.

Sincerely,

Lamar

Bravo Lamar!

Lamar's totally justified in asking you to take responsibility for your comments.

YOU LIED! Someone asked you to take responsibility and you FREAKED OUT.

If I were Delores, I'd ask you to please stop blogging. You're HURTING HER CHANCES.

Anonymous said...

Scarlett, I'm a Brewer supporter, and I know young Mr. White. It's admirable that you have earnestly defended Delores Brewer, but when you repeat lies and innuendo on her behalf, you're making it seem like Delores endorses this.

You need to learn when to stop. You shouldn't be repeating stupid lies on this blog, particularly when people know who you are and know how to connect you to Delores. It makes her look bad, and it only hurts her chances.

Mr. White is playing polite politics. He asked you to retract a lie. You decided to play the victim. Stop it. I like Delores Brewer. I've known her personally for twenty years. Delores is an honest person, and I don't think it helps when the people around her act dishonestly.

Anonymous said...

That does it! I was on the fence between Brewer and Roy, but after this latest exchange, it's obvious... the Roy people want an honest conversation on the facts, and the Brewer people want to run push polls and post anonymous lies about Roy. THAT IS DIRTY POLITICS.

Scarlett.... Lamar's letter may have been strongly worded, but obviously, he had evidence that you weren't telling the truth. I agree with the poster who said you're just trying to play the poor, innocent victim. C'mon. You're a grown woman, and you should understand that when you repeat lies, especially to people who know your true identity, you risk being called out on your lies.

For many months I have tried to tell this blog about the ways of Lamar White Jr. No one listens and everyone wants to kill the messenger. Now folks suc h as Scarlett are dinding out his true nature.

Lamar White Jr. is the self appointed savior (due to being all knowledgeable about the problems of Alexandria and how to solve these problems) of Alexandria. His solution is simple revitilize downtown and nmusic. As others have stated he is an overly liberally educated, immature person. You can see his "silver spoon in the mouth" upbringing coming out by his irrational attacks on those that disagree with what he knows best for us.

He has now become a lawyer, advising Scarlett what she is legally responsible for.

The old adage "the acorn does not fall far from the tree" is being evidenced by Lamar in this election. He is a continuatikon of the dirty fighting tactics employed by his Grandmother and his father. However say anything against either of the Saint Whites (Grandma and Daddy) the Lamar cadre of ass suckers attack.

Scarlett it seems you have discovered the worm turned.

Anonymous said...

How many ntimes will we see the statement "I have spoken with Jacques..." Lamar is alledgedly not part of Roy's campaign but he always has the latest response from Roy, is able to instantly communicate with Roy and knows what Roy is thinkiong.

I think Lamar is a snake in the grass not desiring to openly admit to helping steer Roy's campaign in case Roy losses. If Roy should lose Lamar would have to deal with one of Roy's opponents on his grandeous plan to revitilize downtown and build condo's with Brigitte Brown's brother.

All revitilizing downtown does is throw away taxpayers money. It should be clear by now the White Folks are not going to go downtown. All the claims of racial bigotry, etc, will not cause the Whites to go downtown. White folks are leaving Alexandria in droves not trying to move into the inner city. Why would decent people wasnt to move into a crime riddenghetto when they can move out of the City and enjoy a peaceful life. Oh I know why - because they would have a water park and a walking trail available. Alexandria's City Council is so intent on developing the River that they are trying to get rid of what little activity is there now - the houseboats. Anyone figure out yet that is the location Fuller wants for his waterpark. C omes equipped with an outdoor theater, dock, etc.

Surl;y you didn't think the houseboat situation was attacked due to some great civic spirit.

To the former second floor employee who states ned didn't want to let Dorsey go--I just asked all three of them, Ned, Albin and Ken. Ned said upon learning of what Dorsey & co. did, he DEFINATELY wanted to let Dorsey go and so he did. The other two confirm it. Now, about Dorsey running rampant--I do agree that Dorsey needed to go before this incident. He became disrespectful and uncooperative to the mayor and to others in the administration. He was obviously not the changed man Ned thought he was. Hiring him was a mistake in my opinion. Regarding some photo... Dorsey had a photo of he and Ned in his office. But as for some other photo for blackmail--come on. That is absolutely not true. I can believe Dorsey would go around saying he owned Ned because he's a big blow hard. But that does not make it true. That is such a ridiculous notion. First you bloggers say Ned was owned by the silk stocking crowd and now Dorsey. PLEASE! Why do you have to pick on a man who is going out of office? Stick to the discussion about the candidates on the Sept. 30 ballot.

I agree. Ned is a good man. Like the rest of us, he is human. While in office, you can't please everyone. So, stop picking on him. I know the majority of Alexandrians believe the Randolph administration led the city through a great era. Like Rick Ranson said, Ned and the council and administrative team took us from catfish in the swimming pool to Union Tank car. No one on some blog can ruin Ned's reputation or his accomplishments while in office. Those stand on their own. I believe Ned is stepping down because he knows and understands it's time for new leadership. Whoever is saying these things is so small. You may be able to hide your identity on this blog, but you can't hide your cruelty from God. It's comforting to know that you'll have to answer to Him.

Sorry, but you cannot see the forest for the trees. Folks that have been asked about corruption have that "deer in the headlights look" when asked if they know anything . Explain this to me, why was Kelvin hired as city attorney? Is he that bright? How did Bridgette get involved in the CLECO case? What about the bond deal? Why all of the studies that don't seem to have much substance? We could stay here all day asking wbout specific instances in city government and you folks would act like you don't see anything wrong. Is it that possibly you lack a moral compass? I still maintain that you guys hope DB gets elected so you can keep all of the crap covered up which you have done a fair job at up until now.

While you are in the defense mode, why don't you explain to us rabble how come the Public Service Commission continually refused the cities application to bring in another gas line and how that affected the city's ability to buy gas on the open market.

Anonymous said...

The past four years have been much more difficult than the previous terms due to the make up of the city council and other issues. If he would have known what was ahead, I suspect Ned would have chosen not to run the last time. Of course, hindsight is 20/20. Regarding Kelvin, he is a Tulane Law School graduate. He had the credentials for the job. I hear you about his allegiances. He brought Bridgette into the CLECO case. I agree with you that Kelvin should have been let go because he is not loyal to the mayor. Only to Bridgette and the council. Creating equal opportunties for minorities is a difficult thing. First, there's a lack of qualified minorities. Then, once one is put in place, the rest of the black leadership in town pressures the heck out of the person to do their bidding...because they truly believe it's their turn to run things AND that they are supposed to make money while running things. Maybe the next mayor can do a better job with placing minorities in the administrtion. I do think Lisa Harris is wonderful. I hope whomever is elected keeps her. Regarding the utility question, I don't have info to answer that.

joe fuller in his kalb video blog said that alexandria's division isnt so much racial but a divide of money.

a look at ms brewers campaign financials reveals that the same old people the silk stocking, courthouse crowd will control her the same ones that have been in control for ages.

a vote for ms brewer is truly a vote for the status quo which is a vote for the old boy network.

Anon, " I hope she goes down...."

You are an idiot. She will be in the runoff, no doubt.

i doubt seriously delores will make the run-off. she's dropping faster than a brick tossed off the empire state building. i suggested on this blog that she stay isolated and not mingle. it was her only chance. her exposure is killing her.

A word about the Anonymous at 7:23 and 7:28 AM.

This person has a lot of pent-up anger directed toward people in my family, and in lieu of actually confronting this anger in an open setting (one in which he would be forced to use his real name and reveal his true identity), he has decided to use an Internet blog to transmit his anger to me. That's fine. There's nothing he can say that hasn't been said before, and although he believes that when people "defend" me, they are "killing the messenger," I think that, deep down, he knows this isn't about me.

What readers should know is this:

This individual does not know me.

It's possible, as this is Alexandria and a relatively small community, that we have met in passing, but his knowledge of "my ways" is a fabrication. This individual THINKS he knows me, probably based on a few things I have written, and no doubt, based on previous encounters with other members of my family, one of whom is deceased and the other of whom is long retired.

He also thinks he understands my impression of the ways in which one can fix the problems in Alexandria.
He is wrong.

Because I do not know this individual, we have never had the opportunity to sit down and discuss these issues; his impression, again, is extrapolated from a handful of items published on my blog and is not accurate.

I also believe that this individual's knowledge of downtown revitalization (and the ways in which it helps cities grow and how these endeavors are funded) is severely misguided, but that's another story.

What surprises me is this: The context of his remarks. The conversation was about whether or not a well-known blogger who works with a mayoral candidate should or should not be held accountable for spreading misinformation and lies. It's almost as if this individual believed that he saw an opportunity to kick me while I was down-- regardless of what the issue was. Well, if I disappointed anyone, I apologize; I don't think that I crossed any lines. Until yesterday, I believed that I had the ability to speak with Scarlett frankly. Her reaction still surprises me, and I regret that this occured.

But the truth is still important to me, and I do not apologize for requesting that adults, who know the facts but refuse to account for them, take responsibility for the words that they write. (Which, I recognize, would be an impossibility for you, Anonymous, who wrongly believes that your anonymity shields you from the consequences of your actions).

Anyway, enjoy the rest of your day everyone. I'm going downtown to build condos, drink coffee, form a band, and coach the junior high debate team.

Anonymous said...

save a condo and a cup of coffee for us dammit!

Lamar, don't worry about that guy. He thinks he's been trying to warn us about you for months, but every time he writes something, he shows us that he's just a creepy, embittered loser with a lot of time on his hands and not a lot of brainpower.

The question about his timing is interesting. In attacking you he's also sticking up for Scarlett and the Brewer liars. You think this creep is someone connected to her campaign or in the current administration?

Back from building the condos. Incidentally, I also solved the crime problem, secured an amazing rate on natural gas, and received a $35 million dollar grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation toward the construction of a vo-tech high school.

Don't worry, WeSawThat, I put your name down on a condo that overlooks the Red River. You can still pick out the finishes.

No, I don't think the guy is connected to Mrs. Brewer's campaign AT ALL. There's just no way.

I've asked a few people around town what they think, and they seem to believe this is someone who believes he was slighted by my grandmother-- probably someone connected or formerly connected to FUMC. Either way, his actions on this blog demonstrate his clear moral superiority.

Any other problems we need to solve today? Since this guy annointed me savior, I've been on a roll.

Anonymous said...

A list of those slighted by your grandmother would be extremely long as well as the number of people that have left FUMC due to her.

Kids can be so darn perceptive. The ASH kids have proclaimed the end to the blueblood reign of terror. Roy blew them out in the ASH poll with Fuller closing the gap on Johnson. Brewer was somewhere in the 2nd tier with Red and Big'un.

In reply to anon about the gas line. The Public Service Commission did not veto the building of a natural gas pipeline. About ten years ago the pipeline Project was ready to go to bid. The ordanance had passed the Council to build it when Ned Randolph,at the insistance of Ledeau Provosty, vetoed the ordanance. At the time LIG, who own's the only pipelines to Alexandria was being sold and keeping the City in line added a great deal of money to the sales price and thus to bonuses paid the LIG Officers. Provosty represented the LIG President at the time.
Shortly after his veto killed the pipeline Ned was given an office in the Provosty firm and a handfull of cases on which he did very little work but collected the fees.
Did Ned make a deal?
The new pipeline would have opened most of the natural gas markets in the US up to Alexandria. Would that have saved us money on our gas purchases? Some experts say yes it would have saved millions.
Another expample of who runs Ned and the City to their financial benefit and are working hard to keep it that way.

Anonymous said...

So Ned cost us millions by vetoing the gas line.
Where are the FEDS when you really need them?

"A list of those slighted by your grandmother would be extremely long as well as the number of people that have left FUMC due to her."

And that list would also include Carol, Lamar, Jr. and his siblings. Anyone who thinks Carol and her kids are close with the rest of the Whites obviously doesn't know them at all.

to the former city employee going by the name civil sentient:
when the mayor found out what he did, he dealt with it. that is his responsibility. he let dorsey go and turned over all of the info to our lame excuse for a D.A. do i think he should have gotten rid of dorsey sooner, yes. but you were right up there too. maybe you should have done something about it since you seem to know so much about what the guy did. as for me, i am much more interested in who the next mayor will be because i have a personal stake in that.

Jacques Roy totally killed Brewer in today's ASH election. She finished in 4th place! FOURTH!

By the way, Biff, Sams wasn't even a factor-- 2% of the vote. About as much as Red.

Anonymous said...

that is an absolute LIE that ned made a deal with ledoux provosty in return for favors. he did not profit in any way from vetoing the pipeline deal. he vetoed it because he thought it was the right thing to do. for years, harold chambers claimed that he was the one running the city. if that's true then it seems like chambers and sonny boy could have gotten a good deal on the gas for the city. but i'm sure they'll say, i was just working for ned. well, i say that you can't claim credit for all that went right and shift blame to ned on things that didn't. to whomever wrote this stuff--as i said earlier it is comforting to me to know that you will have to answer to God one day for your verbal attacks and vicious lies. i'll put ned's reputation up against the coward who wrote this nonsense any day. you should stop being so bitter, because it's going to eventually cause you to self destruct.

Jacques Roy, 36.4 Joe Fuller, 15.6 percent; Alice Hammond, 11.7 percent; Delores Brewer, 11.6 percent; Charles F. Smith Jr., 3.5 percent; and John Sams, 2 percent.

Red beat Delores! Hahahaha

"You are an idiot. She will be in the runoff, no doubt."

I'm not the one who wants to vote for a stupid, unqualified, brown nosing blue blood who can't find her own ass.

Brewer is a bimbo, junior leaguer, more concerned with her fingernail color than city government. I'm gonna be laughing in all of your stupid faces when the falls by the wayside.

Anonymous said...

Might I take this opportunity to remind everyone here that some weeks ago I predicted Roy VS Fuller in the runoff?

Survey says.....I'll stick to that prediction.

For Scarlet: An open invitation to you dear, for breakfast at my castle on Sunday morning after the primary. I'll prepare the crow to your liking.....

The feathers and bones have spoken

lol why are yall giving high school kids so much credit in choosing the next mayor?

Anonymous said...

Those numbers were missing Roosevelt, who finished in second place with 19.1%.

If the ASH straw poll is any indication, Fuller and Roosevelt are splitting the black vote.

Brewer's campaign is over. If she got out now, her votes would go Roy, and he'd take it in the primary.

But she won't do that. She's got too much money behind her, and too many people, like little Roy O., who are depending on her for his kickbacks.

Watch for the Breweristas to go negative. We'll be hearing more stuff about trial lawyers, the Roy family, and names from the past.

Unfortunately for her, it's too little too late and will only make her look more dishonest and dirty.

Jacques, where are you holding your victory party?

WeSawThat, because it's correctly predicted the last five elections, and ASH is racially divided... and it also shows who the parents will be voting for.
