Politics is a thinking man's game. A true American should be able to see through the spin and research on their own. People vote without knowing what they are voting for! Ask someone why they are voting, is it a credible decision? If they vote on economics, do they truly understand theory or just the pocket book?
Am I voting for John McCain and Sarah Palin? Yes. Why? It is not because Obama is a Democrat and not because he is black (Oh my God! someone finally said it!) It is because he hasn't a clue. About what? Where do I start. Joe Biden? You think he is an embarrasement now, just wait.

Did anyone see mini mayor's poll numbers? Wow, I am starting to belive that a light poll could bet roy. I think lamar could even beat roy...and that's saying a lot!
I wonder if the police have completed their investigation of the drowning at Alexandria senior high. The school has been doing so well since moreau and stoker are gone. Now a guy that should not even be at the school pool will mess it all up. I wonder why parents would let their children go to a swim party and did not teach the child to swim. Can't understand some parents.
This investigation has only one purpose....to sweep things under the rug and protect those who are politicaly connected. Drugs, lack of disicipline, poor academic performance, theft, assault, and even a childs death will be glossed over and forgiven if you are one of "The General's" favorites.
Rumor is that Albritton is being transferred to Bolton. (No pool) and Urbina will be the new principal at ASH.
AN OBSERVATION:
Lamar White is a parasite. He gloms on to our mayor when the mayor is popular, respected, and esteemed. When the Roy stock plummets, Lamar moves to a comfortable distance to avoid the stigma but still get his check. Lamar's conversation has returned to his favorite subject: how cool, aware, and connected he is. Lamar, like his benefactor, has turned out to lack substance as well as character. I, for one, and disappointed in both of them.
Urbina at ASH! I wonder if he will still keep the town drunk(LS) as a teacher. Probably bring more of the old crowd hangers on back too. Lord help us. As far as Albritton going to Bolton, he will improve it just as he did ASH. Politics make me sick sometimes. Jacque,our mayor is still in town, they will have a new baby soon. He has been a good mayor. I sure hope he will run again.

Well, who is going to be our next mayor? I think Roosvelt Johnson may be elected. Sure hope someone runs against Myron Lawless-son.
For sure, Roosevelt will be in the runnoff. The question is who will he be going against? I honestly think that if Coco or Pugh run, they have a great shot. Roy (mini mayor) just has turned so many people against him. At least half of the people that I personally know that were for him last time, are 100% against him this time (like roys former good friend pugh).
Have you EVER heard of a sitting mayor, only weeks out from qualifying, STILL claim to not know if he will run or not? Who would ever want a mayor like that?
When has Mayor Roy said that he was not sure if he was running? He has had at least one fundraiser for the mayoral race. Just because he has not invited the media to some "announcement" does not mean that he is not planning on running. I am sure you can figure it out after qualifying. why does he need to have a big announcement show?
I assume, as he does his job from day to day, that he plans on being the mayor for a long time.
Some people just insist on trying to make news where there isn't any.
But even though Jonson, Jennings and Rev. Franklin have announced, Jacques hasn't. So until qualification in over, I think will Jacques run is a legitimate question.

Most of the reactions I read to the political blogs are way overblown. This is Louisiana politics remember...it's a contact sport where the players are going to get very bloody.
Some things to keep in mind:
JB has a political axe to grind and his target is Mini-Mayor. After the election, whatever the result, he'll fade away.
Greg Aymond is a psychopathic liar. Everyone knows this. He was a second rate lawyer and is a third rate blogger. Anyone who puts any creditability in Aymond’s words needs to have their head examined.
Little Fred White is a child with a child's view of the world. He reminds me of a 5 year old Don Quixote, tilting at windmills with a paper mache’ sword. To paraphrase a quote from that play which perfectly describes little Fred… “He so immersed himself liberal and socialistic dogma that his brains dried up to such a degree that he lost the use of his reason"

The folks running Jacques Barack must be aware that Von Jennings has no possible chance at winning. Who would want someone like that running our city? How about offering positive ideas about how Von is going to improve our city, instead of making up lies and spreading rumors about Mayor Roy.
I'm a white yuppie and usually vote republican. I'm voting for Von. To hell with it. I'm tired of the same old crap. Whether it's Roy or somebody else. At least with Von we will get a new and different load of crap.

Lamar and Greg are talking out of their respective asses about lawyer involvement in Cleco matter. In fact, Myron contacted the Roy firm and insisted that they include his tenant on the plaintiff's case and Roy Sr. said no and threatened to report tenant to the Bar Assn. So as we now stand, tenant has been lawyer for everybody at some point and is now herself a plaintiff in suits against her client(s). Lawyers tell me that Roy and Johnson, and Micheils have an ethical duty to report this to the Bar Assn. and their failure to do so is in and of itself an serious violation. I seriously doubt that Lamar talked to his boss before his recent post on this subject.

I know this may sound crazy, but try to stay with me:
Imagine that a whistleblower accuses his own employer- a big, publicly-traded utility company- of over-billing an entire City.
Imagine the company was accused of systematically behaving in bad faith: Giving certain customers higher bills based on where they lived, using a publicly-owned asset to pad their balance sheets, suing anyone who called them out.
Imagine the free-for-all: An entire City was defrauded? The legal fees, wow.
And, imagine, that the whistleblower isn’t merely interested in blowing the whistle: They’re interested in getting a piece of the action, 30%, 40%, 50%.
The whistleblower forms a company, and lawyers beg for a piece of the action- a cut, a slice, a contingency fee.
Take a leap of faith and imagine this: A City Councilman somehow gets his own lawyer, someone who rented an office from him, to represent the City, on behalf of the community allegedly defrauded- not on a fixed rate, but on yet another contingency fee based on the overall damages.
The whistleblower wants a cut, and so do the attorneys representing the community that was allegedly defrauded, including the Councilman’s lawyer/tenant.
Follow me?
Imagine this is all eventually settled, but well before any whistleblowers or lawyers are paid.
What do you think would happen?
If you work for a company that allegedly defrauded an entire community and you decide to blow the whistle on them, why would you ever believe that you’re entitled to a large portion of the damages? Right? Once upon a time, whistleblowers blew the whistle because they were ethical; they saw fraud, and they wanted it to be corrected.
Whistleblowers, by definition, shouldn’t ever intend to make a fortune off of fraud.
If you represent that community as an attorney, you’re supposed to work for the community. Right? Why would you ever think that you’re entitled to a gigantic portion of any potential settlement? If the fraud was systemic, then so are the damages.
Wouldn’t it be insane if the Councilman’s lawyer asked their own attorney to file a parallel lawsuit– except that instead of suing the utility company for fraud, they sued the City, simply with the hope of cashing in?
Crazy. Unethical. Greedy. Ridiculous.
Yet somehow and for some reason, I think all of this is possible.
Kudos to Lamar on shooting Roy in the foot. Way to bite the hand that feeds you.

Those of us old enough to remember the Nixon decline, marveled at how easily Nixon could have prevented the disaster by coming clean early and exhibiting humility. What Lamar did was stupid and counterproductive to the harmony of the city that employs him in a visible position, as a spokesperson, and he jumped up, took responsibility, did the requisite mia culpa, and thought it was over. No such luck.
In steps Roy with that arrogant silly dishonest condescending rant at his "briefing" which culminated in him telling the press he invited that what Lamar says in the public forum, that is designed to insult, accuse, and demoralize the city's legislative branch, as well as certain members of the administration, and was intended as a humorous piece designed to throw those that criticize the administration UNDER THE BUS, is none of their fucking business. Roy made it clear that if the invited memebers of the press continued to press him on this entirely valid and volatile issue, he would shut down their information access. Arrogance didn't serve Richard Nixon and it won't serve Jacques Roy. The irony is that his demise will be of his own making.

Come now. Do you really think that comes from Brigit Brown? That's a serious misperception on the part of Roy, et al. They conclude that the only folks who are disappointed with and angry at the administration are a few upity negros who Roy ran off but I think that he will be surprised at how many of us honkeys are disaffected by his policies, but even more so, his attitude and image in the public eye. He impresses me as being like so many other white southern law school graduates: constantly on the defensive and striving to show how amazing smart and cool they are. Our yard won't have a Roy sign this time.

I have to be honest...they are ALL better than Roy. And it's not that the other candidates are all that super impressive, its just that Roy is a little nazi wanna be dictator. ANYONE BUT ROY in 2010!!!
That Roy may be, in your eyes, the better candidate, does not excuse his conduct, attitude or treatment of others. If our best choice is still pretty bad, it would be a good thing for that person to reflect on how he has treated others (or allowed others to be treated) and reform to some degree. That Roy is too arrogant to reflect on the objective critical thoughts and feelings of others, speaks to who and what he is.
Why should we vote roy out of the mayor's office? Here are some thoughts...
Crime: WORSE(IACP Report)(Actually horrible!)
Economic Development: Worse (Louisiana Economic Development Report. It also states Lake Charles, Lafayette, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge have "emerged from the recession" What's Roy's excuse?)
City Finances: The Budget is in the Red while we waste money that our citizens will have to pay back from SPARC grant money on projects that are questionable at best
City Services: Less (Can't even pick up the trash or cut the grass around the city.) Even basic services like offering trash bags have been stopped!
Cleco settlement: Although settled the citizens and businesses that paid the overcharge have to date not received even one penny of THEIR money back.
Lack of industrial development in the area. (Thus far the ongoing "hotel deal" and "movie deal" have generated nothing but hype and big talk. Additionally there has been very little if any significant industry move into our area)
Drainge problems: Unresolved since he came in office 4 years ago. And now the mayor has taken the money that the police jury was going to use to fix this problem!
Levee problems: Unresolved and pending doom for home owners if not corrected.
"I would very much like to see some reasoned comments supporting" our current Mayor based on facts and accomplishments, rather than destroying the other candidates.
It is definately time to give someone else a chance to fix the mess this administration has created. Someone who can unite and get along with people as well as the council. We need someone who is truly interested in service to others rather than service to self. We need a uniter not a divider.
Everything you listed could also be blamed on the CITY COUNCIL and their lack of action.
So please let one of the candidates for mayor tell us how they are going to solve it. Rev. Franklin tells us of how he is "dreaming of a better Alexandria". How is he planning on making his dreams come true?
You have apparently concluded that the fact that Roy is running against a passel of ignorant darkies means that he has no obligation to reform his conduct to be truly responsive to the public, transparent, constructive, and courteous to the Council and his staff. You won't have any trouble getting his top echelon to admit that he is an arrogant prick who is not open to constructive input unless it is applauding his ideas and actions.
Maybe Roy can do it all by himself. We shall see. When Roy declares that he doesn't read the blogs, it is because he does not care in the least, what we think or how we feel.
Von Jennings was Lamar White's Grandmothers hand picked secretary and hand maiden when Grandma was in charge of the WIB Board. Grandmother White was the prime mover in trying to get control of the Work Program transferred from the Rapides Parish Police Jury.
When Von Jennings was finally ran off from the Wib Grandma assisted her in being hired by the Alexandria Trade School. Several of Grandmother's coharts at the Workforce Office when confronted with "derelection of duty/female harrassment resigned and wound up at the Trade School.
Von Jennings was/is (alledgedly) the concubine of Mlcom X Larvadain III, brother to Councilman Larvadain.
Sems as though there is a very strong connection between the White's, Von Jennings and the Larvadains.
Additionally, it is my understanding that Lamar White has and has had a real decent income from a trust fund. He is not just dependent upon his "employment" in White's Property Management and skimming from the citizens of Alexandia.

I work at one of the largest law firms in Central Louisiana. When you're in the position I am in, you hear a lot of things about a lot of people.
I have NEVER heard anything complimentary about Greg Aymond. Attitudes about the man run from indifference to outright disgust. From what I hear, and the legal work I have seen, Aymond is a crude lawyer who has no real grasp of what the legal system is all about.
To the local bar, Aymond is a joke.
I know little about Aymond, but his inability to grasp the obvious conflict issue with Judge Drell is astounding. Apparently, to this day, after Judge Drell's self-recusal, Aymond is unable to admit that he had no idea what he was talking about. Anyway, he makes enough noise to get attention and that seems to make him happy.
I have visited his site on occassion and note that he trys to chase detractors off his site by saying if you don't agree with me, get off my blog. Quite the titty baby, what??
