It'll get pretty quiet around here now that the ratings are in, and McCain had half a million more viewers than Obama did in their respective speeches.

And that does not include the very Republican areas of La & Ms that were without power.

Methinks the election numbers will turn out the same way. I agree with other anons that Palin will win it for the Repubs, in spite of McCain!

Lights, air and water. Garbage picked up. Way to go Alexandria! Thanks to Bobby Jindal for getting us help too!

Anonymous said...

Maybe our city clowns will get us some decent drainage instead of water spray pads.....get a hose and sprinkler and fix our problems. No more flooding...Should be a wake up call.

Anonymous said...

I'll second that!

On behalf of us liberal democrats I want to admit that we were wrong to make fun of Ms. Palin. We are glad that McCain picked her as his running mate. We would have preferred Dan Quail or Spiro Agnew but she will do just fine. Thank you John. Thank you W. Thank you Newt.

Anonymous said...

"We would have preferred Dan Quail or Spiro Agnew"

You do understand they both won, and served as VPs? I take it that you're now giving up on this election, too?

And if you have a problem with Agnew - "He is noted for his quick rise in politics. Going in six years from County Executive to VP of the US," he sounds a lot like Obama to me.

Anonymous said...

Obama's been in public office for well over a decade, and he is still ahead in every single major national poll. Reuthuglicans can rejoice over their purely political pick in Palin, but during the next two months, Americans are going to be exposed to the truth about Palin and McCain.

It won't be pretty, but it's about time these people are exposed for the lying, moneyed, sack-of-shit hypocrites they really are.

Once upon a time there was a great flood. A gentleman refused a ride from a passerby in a pickup, replying that he had faith that the Lord would save him. As the water lapped at his window sills, aman in a boat got the same reply to his offer of a ride. As the man was standing on his roof, a helicopter pilot recieved the same reply to his offer of assistance. After the man drowned and met the Lord, he asked," I placed all of my faith in you Lord, why did you let me die??" The Lord replied " I sent you a truck, a boat, and a helicopter and you refused each one. At that point I decided you must be a Democrat and were to thickheaded to act in your own interest so I let nature take its course."

To all of you bellyaching Democrats, sometimes you have to help yourself.

So says the wisdom of Spanky

Anonymous said...

Retarded analogy... Democrats would never refuse help.

Anonymous said...

Now that you understand that, understand that the giver becomes the master. Thus spake Spanky

Anonymous said...

Dear Republican Bretherin:
You react to strongly. As I said, if you liked Quail and Agnew you will love Palin. She is a fast and firm believer and can't be swayed by reason, judgment or science. She loves Jesus and hates it when OTHERS get tax money. Fortunately, she is not a hipocrit. She applies her faulty judgment and zeal to her own family and doesn't mind how much they have to suffer as a result of it - her poor exploited kids! Again, congradulations

Anonymous said...

How remarkable that Spanky the Perpetual Unproductive Dependant, would preach about self reliance. Spanky is an habitual parasite and his lovely wife is always primed to mention that to whom-so=ever will listen.

Keep it up Spanky. You make us feel better about belonging to the other (any other) party.

"Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows Barack Obama attracting 46% of the vote while McCain earns 45%."

Uh, Obama's 8 point lead seems to have vanished since Palin came on board. And this poll doesn't include results from the last two nights of the RNC.

Why do you think Obama went on O'Reilly and sent Hillary to Fla? They know they're now losing this election.

Anonymous said...

Dear Mr. Cenla Antics:
Thank you for creating a medium that causes Lamar White so much grief and consternation. Most assuredly you will be richly rewarded in heaven.

Anonymous said...

Why oh why are democrats so dumb? Quit talking about Obama leading in the polls. The real deal is in the electoral college. Remember Gore won the most votes, but couldn't seal the deal in the electoral count.

Prior to the Rep. convention, Obama had a 273 to 265 edge in the EC, but that was with Obama being given Colorado. Even CNN polls now show McCain ahead in Colo. Obama's celebrity is over, and McCain could actually win going away.

Anonymous said...

Obama's in a mess:

"Boy Scouts have arrived with 84 trash bags full of bundles of flags at the site"

Obama and Co. threw away 12,00 American flags after his big speech in front of those styrofoam Greek columns.

He's being proven more and more to be a prop for the socialists, and not really a patriot.

Anonymous said...

wesawthat must have drowned. He hasn't posted since Sept.1. Now if on the other genius.......

Anonymous said...

flag story is false.

Anonymous said...

So you're saying that the republican posting about Barak personally cleaning up the stadium after his historic and inspiring acceptance speech is untrue?????

We Saw That is probably blaming the jews for Gustave and consulting his list of reactionary lunatic sites for support.

Anonymous said...

the republicans stole thousands of flags from the dems and then told fox news they were saving them from being thrown away.

don't they realize how badly their shit smells?

how stupid do they think we are?

Anonymous said...

Sorry, but the flag story is TRUE.

"the flags were discovered by a vendor at Denver’s Invesco Field after the conclusion of the Democratic National Convention. The vendor found trash bags full of flags in and near garbage bins, and turned them over to the McCain campaign."

McCain's people had nothing to do with it. An offended vendor, working the convention found them!

Anonymous said...

an offended vendor who refuses to go on the record and who illegally gave away the flags to the mccain campaign.

you really think they were just going to throw away all of those flags? they bagged them up so they could be used at another rally and some "vendor" stole them and acted like they were about to be thrown away.

Anonymous said...

you can't believe anything you hear on fox news. they have proven themselves to be propagandists for the conservative right.

Anonymous said...

"The vendor found trash bags full of flags in garbage bins"

You can't read, you ignorant buffoon. How do you "save" flags when they are bagged up and thrown into garbage bins.

You're the one that believes the propaganda. It's just typical of the Obama hype, styrofoam columns, throw away flags, community organizer experience. It's all smoke and mirrors.

Anonymous said...

because you ignorant buffoon and liar, they weren't placed into trash cans. they were bagged up.

you people will say and do anything to make your political enemies look unpatriotic. you are shameful and on the wrong side of history.

Anonymous said...

I understand that McCain is a POW and genuine war hero. I wonder why he never mentions it more than about 45 times in each speech. I think that he is going to "John Kerry" himself. Normally heros don't mention that they are heros every time they open their hero mouth.

Anonymous said...

"you people will say and do anything"

Yeah, we also made up that Obama's lost an 8-point lead, and that more people watched Plain and McCain than did Obama's coronation.

And you'll soon be making up that those racist Republicans stole yet another election.

Anonymous said...

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner - I was working.

By the way, someone thinks I am worth 3k a week, at least that is what they pay me.

"Wow Spanky. That's a lot of bread. But don't tell me. Tell Mrs. Spanky. She is the one who complains that you are totally dependent on her for support and sustenance."

That's what I love about this site. Nobody has enough sense on here to debate issues, they just make personal attacks. I wonder if they sit back and jerk off afterwards?

Anonymous said...

Don't look now, but Obama's toast.

"Zogby: McCain up by 4%: Zogby International was the most accurate pollster in every one of the last three presidential election cycles."

Anonymous said...

I can't really formulate a position or opinion until I hear the Aymond endorsement.

Anonymous said...

CBS & Rasmussen (both reliably democratic) now have the pres. race tied. Gallup has McCain +3, and Zogby has McCain +4.

It seems that as I have believed all along, people were saying they would vote Obama, but knew on election day they would secretly pull for McCain.

McCain has now given them a reason to declare for him. By selecting Palin, voters can get away with supporting the woman, while not appearing to be voting against the other minority.

This election is now over.

Anonymous said...

voters can get away with pretending not to be bigoted by voting for the woman who doesn't give two shits about equal pay for women or freedom of choice... at least they don't have to vote for the black dude, right?!

it's so easy to be a guilt-free bigot on this blog.

Anonymous said...

oh and if you put bob barr and ralph nader in the mix, mccain's meaningless one day national lead in one poll totally evaporates...

Anonymous said...

Obama keeps trying to keep race out of this contest and you folks keep trying to insert it. Obama is OK, remember, he is half white and a whoe lot more like me that bridget brown or c. f. smith.

Anonymous said...

who keeps inserting race? obama? or the asshole rethuglicans who think now that mccain has chosen a woman they don't have the feel guilty about not voting for the minority?

Anonymous said...

I usually vote for the person running, not the party. But after watching a Demo guv and a Repub guv during each hurricane crisis, I have to wonder why I would ever vote Demo again?

Anonymous said...

that makes no sense. katrina was much worse than gustav and bush played politics with recovery money and response. now that bush has his boy jindal in OF COURSE things are going to look better.

Anonymous said...

It only seems fair that a woman be elected this cycle, before the minority. Minorities have had the right to vote longer, yet this is their first shot at a national office. This would be the second time a women has been nominated, and since they are a larger voting bloc, they are due.

And since we can only clear one hurdle at a time, this hurdle should be in support of women. Obama could have fixed that by choosing Hillary. Thus it shows his poor judgement, and his loss is well-deserved.

Stoooopid, Texas and Miss. were worse hit by Katrina & Rita, yet they handled it far better with their Rebulican governors. Even the liberal media can't praise our Rep. governor enough.

Whether hurricanes, 9/11, floods, etc., Republicans have shown better skills in dealing with crisis.

Anonymous said...

"Stoooopid, Texas and Miss. were worse hit by Katrina & Rita, yet they handled it far better with their Rebulican governors."

WHAT THE FUCK?

1,100 people in Louisiana DIED.

250,000 people's homes were FLOODED or DESTROYED.

The damage in Mississippi and Texas WASN'T EVEN CLOSE, but they got more attention because Bush played politics with people's lives.

Disgusting that you would even try to justify this by lying about how bad things were for us.

Texans didn't die BECAUSE THE HURRICANES DIDN'T HIT TEXAS!

Seriously, WHAT THE FUCK ARE TALKING ABOUT?

Anonymous said...

just unbelievable that anyone would say texans didn't die from hurricanes that never hit them because their governor is a republican.

Anonymous said...

My the plot thickens. Just in from an ABC interview:

"Let's not play games," Obama said. "What I was suggesting -- you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith."

The interviewer interrupted with, "Christian faith?"

"My Christian faith," Mr. Obama said quickly.

Anonymous said...

God you're a MORON!

"Rita made landfall on September 24 near Sabine Pass, Texas, as a Category 3 hurricane. It continued on through parts of southeast Texas. The storm surge caused extensive damage along the Louisiana and extreme southeastern Texas coasts"

"Traffic volumes did not ease for nearly 48 hours as more than 3 million evacuated the area in advance of the storm. This was the largest evacuation in Texas history"

Anonymous said...

No, you're the fucking idiot. They evacuated Houston, but Rita barely even hit Houston. The clusterfuck is because 2 million people in Houston were told to evacuate even though they didn't need to.

It hit the Sabine Pass, which IS ON THE BORDER OF TEXAS AND LOUISIANA.

Figure out what hurricane you're talking about, because at first, you were talking about Katrina and trying to convince people that people TX and MS were worse off than people in LA.

You have your shit completely confused, moron.

Anonymous said...

You can't lie your way out of this one. The poster clearly wrote:

"Stoooopid, Texas and Miss. were worse hit by Katrina & Rita, yet they handled it far better with their Rebulican governors."

I read the word RITA, why can't you. Trust me. Everyone clearly knows who the idiot is.

I also went to youtube and saw the Obama video. he clearly says "MY MUSLIM FAITH," and is immediately corrected by the interviewer. BAD, bad news for BHO.

Anonymous said...

you're the liar... acting like Katrina and Rita hurt TX and MS more than LA.

if you really believe this i suggest you get the fuck out of our state.

Amen to that.

If you like Texas and Mississippi so much, then move there.

Three years after Katrina and Rita and you're the first person I have ever heard from who thinks Texas and Mississippi had more damage. You're a damned fool.

Do us all a favor and either move away or shut the hell up.

Anonymous said...

To this mental midget. You have to be the biggest dumbass ever on this site:

"Texans didn't die BECAUSE THE HURRICANES DIDN'T HIT TEXAS!"

Hurricanes didn't hit Texas? Then why is the death tolls for Rita listed as:

Tx - 112

Please tell me that

MAN, I have missed some major excitement on here. It clearly seems the Obamamaniacs have gone nuts now that their guy is showing up as the fraud he is. A 14 point drop in the polls after his big coronation speech, the flag dumping, Palin nailing him for not being smart enough to pick Clinton, and now the big no-no, the lip slip about being Muslim.

Is this not the worst week for a candidate, ever?

And yes people do decide elections on the little things. Remeber Bush "no new taxes", Kerry's military claims, and Dukakis in the tank. It's one and done in the pres. elections. Obama is now officially done. But don't take it so hard, Hillary will get her shot in 4 yrs.

Anonymous said...

Oh, and as proof of what i just said, just released USA Today poll -- In the new poll, taken Friday through Sunday, McCain leads Obama by 54%-44% among those seen as most likely to vote. The survey of 1,022 adults, including 959 registered voters, has a margin of error of +/— 3 points for both samples.

Que sera, sera

(Fuck you for minimizing and equivocating on the extent of the disaster caused by the hurricanes. Now you want to pretend like you were only talking about Rita. You are not a patriot, but thanks for reminding us about the extent to which people will go to argue that Republicans actually help save the lives of poor Americans in disaster zones, you helpless fuck).

Katrina death toll:

Deaths by state
Alabama 2
Florida 14
Georgia 2
Kentucky 1
Louisiana 1,577*
Mississippi 238
Ohio 2
Total 1,836

If you think the election is that easy, I can only hope they keep you attached to your IV drips long enough to watch the debates.

It's actually a tracking poll, conducted over several days, and also one that shows an 18 point drop for Obama. I really think that's unprecedented in presidential elections.

I have a tough time understanding the liberal support for Obama. It's no secret that he's George Soros' lapdog and if he wins, his socialistic leanings and will drive this country far to the left.

In response, the American people will oust him in four years. The American voter will also take out their rage on any other political candidate who has a leftist, liberal record.

Obama's success means the demise of liberalism in this country.

In other words, Lamar and all the other young socialists in his cabal are supporting the very candidate that will exterminate them and their political views.

I wish Lamar and his messiah every success...

Dale, your inane postings confirm the old simile about opinions . . .

I would have thought you compassionate conservatives had had all the right wing your wallet could stand.

Anonymous said...

I have always voted Democrat and shall do so again but in this close election I find great confort in the knowledge that McCain is nothing like he who calls himself "Dale (like the cartoon chipmonk)"

Anonymous said...

you're right about that. mccain actually detest rethugs like dale... calls them agents of intolerance.

i think they're just painfully STUPID.

Take a close look at the last three postings. They are a perfect example of the mental capacity of the left.

Small ideas, from small minds.

Oh, and by the way, learn to spell "chipmunk."

Anonymous said...

Give the last poster the spelling bee award. Now if he could develop some original thoughts and enter a rational discussion I would take what he says more seriously.

Anonymous said...

He who can't discuss substance must confine himself to "farm".

and "chipmonk" is the correct spelling for a small catholic rodent.

Anonymous said...

C'mon guys, give 'em a break. The loony left is in shock and denial. They actually though they finally had a chance. They didn't realize that their candidate was the weakest one for them in over 100 years. They are now fully aware of that. Palin power!

As in any storm, the tide that came in, is now on its way out. Socialism is defeated! Even Olberman and Matthews are being dumped by NBC, because of their overt bias against conservatives.

Anonymous said...

I'm not old enough to remember the last 100 years, but I'll take your word for it. What I really want to know from the "dims" (intentionally misspelled) is what has BHO done that makes hima a more qualified candidate than Kerry, Gore, Clinton, or Carter? (And that's as far back as I can remember)

Serious question!

What idiot posted that long copy and paste instead of putting a link to wherever he got that from? Go open your own blog.

Yes, it was an effort, but I read every line if BHO's posted bio.

NOTHING, let me repeat NOTHING, in his very weak bio qualifies him to be the Commander in Chief of the most powerful, most prosperous nation in the history of mankind.

Compared to his predecessors, BHO is a gnat.

Anonymous said...

It is very easy to talk such ballsy trash about a candidate when nobody knows who you are in case he wins.

Anonymous said...

Us democrats have to remember that your standard of quality is that two-term wonder, "W". Could we have had a more abysmal failure in foreign or domestic policy. The small government GOP just led us into ownership of the Fannies. We will start the fix-up in January.

Anonymous said...

Sorry, but demeaning Bush is not an Obama qualification.

Still waiting for a reason that Obama is more qualified than all the previous "dim" losers.

Anonymous said...

What I really want to know from "dims" (intentionally misspelled) is what has BHO done that makes him a more qualified candidate than Kerry, Gore, Clinton, or Carter?

Thought I'd repost the original question, since the previous long post tended to distract from the flow of conversation.

Anonymous said...

They were all qualified and a couple of them were excellent presidents (compared to W). I agree with your premise that democratic candidates are extremely qualified.

Anonymous said...

Uh, try to stay up. They lost with all those qualifications. What has Obama done to make him more qualified than the losers were? Or should I assume you've knowingly backed another loser?

Anonymous said...

Oh, you were talking about Delbert Clinton and June Carter. I thought you were talking about Bill and Jimmy. They won didn't they?

Can we talk about W now??

Anonymous said...

Actually I was talking about Hillary losing to Obama, and Reagan kicked Carter's ass over 40+ states.

All those people have FAR SUPERIOR resumes to Obama, and yet lost. So why Obama?

Anonymous said...

Meanwhile, back in Cenla, who is running for McPherson's senate seat?????? This is going to be the biggest story of 2009.

Anonymous said...

See, the way it works is that the person who gets the most votes gets what we call "elected".

That of course is a broad generality and does not apply to the Bush/Gore election wherein the most qualified, experienced, educated, and qualified guy got the most votes but had the election stolen by your side.

Any way, and I'll try to keep this simple: this is a nice blog but it doesn't get to decided who will be president, the American people do, and they know that Obama is best for America and Americans. ***

"See the Constitution of the United States of America"

I did. It says that Bush can't run for a 3rd term, so get over GW.

It would be like me ranting about not wanting to elect Horny Bill Clinton again. It makes you and Obama look clueless. Obviously it ain't working with voters either.

Anonymous said...

a prime difference being that Clinton could win a 3rd and 4th term and all you Bush supporters are left with are regret and denial. Tell some poor bastard with a forclosed sign on his home that there is no difference between Clinton and Bush.

What we have now is a McCain circus act. He has grabbed the spotlight with his freak show. By November everybody will want Obama again (except the illegal aliens)

Could it be that God smote the evil We Saw That? I guess us Jews are God's chosen people. RIP WST

you fucking retard. its not GW's fault all those whiney ass libs who believe in instant gratification, bought homes that they could not afford.

Anonymous said...

Dude, you have no brain. The media is trumping up a bad economy, but the facts don't bear them out (now the polls don't bear it out either)

When Clinton left office, growth was at -.46%. Bush's last qtr was +3.1%, even during a time if war.

And now that gas is getting back below $100 a barrel, the economy will not drop to the level that Clinton left it.

Anonymous said...

That's good. You and McCain and Annie Oakley keep telling us that things are just fine and the cost of living isn't inflating out of control while jobs disappear and wages go down. If you can sell that horse shit to the American people we deserve 4 more years of facism, declining productivity, inflation, and two wars. You are right to support Bush, however, because he is probably tapping your phone.

Anonymous said...

do realize that democrats have only gotten more than 50% of the vote once since 1944.

And there have been many scare tactics over those years that have not worked. This year will be no exception to that rule.

The only reason Horny Bill won, was Ears Perot stripped votes from the Republicans.

Lamar, Gov. Palin in a way reminds me of your mother (no offense intended). Was wondering what your take on her was, and would you ever vote for her at the head of the ticket?

Dear Bush Backer,
As long as you republicans emphasize the amazing accomplishments of W and Company, our side will do OK. Just don't keep it a secret. Tell everyone how proud you are of the Bush years and how we will benefit from McCain's proud continuation of the Bush Plan.

Maybe you've missed that consumer confidence is up, and it's a virtual tie in the polls between dems & repubs.

Just keep listening to Keith Bendovermann through the election, and we'll have a little surprise for you.

Anonymous said...

To the loony democrat, where have you been the last couple of weeks?

The so-called Bush suporter is right. You're party is in panic. They are running from Hussein Obama. He's behind in EVERY poll, and now the House and Senate races are all within the margin of error. You'll lose a Senate and a House seat just in our state. Now it appears a Senator in Colorado is in trouble as well as Franken's chances in Minn.

Anonymous said...

Obama is NOT behind in every poll. He's still polling ahead in a number of the dailies.

Research 2000 came out today and has Obama with a one point lead-- which is likely to increase once people catch onto the fact that McCain and Palin are a pair of liars who are trading in their integrity for a shot at the White House.

McCain got beaten up on the View this morning and Palin's interview last night on ABC was downright embarrassing.

You Republicans get immediately complacent because of the first McCain polling lead in months. Go ahead and rest on your laurels because you'll see the lead go up in smoke soon enough. The Democrats aren't panicking. They're fighting back, something we haven't seen in over a decade.

Anonymous said...

No No, we are wrong and they are right. Bush has done a spectacular job both internationally and domestically and we must give him credit. We have to be honest and admit that the only way we can have a continuation of the Bush success is to elect a republican president. Spread the word.

AP/GfK - McCain +4
FOX News - McCain +3
NBC News/Wall St. Jrnl - Obama +1
ABC News/Wash Post - McCain +2
USA Today/Gallup - McCain +10
CBS News - McCain +2
CNN - Tie

And that was after Obama had an 8 pt lead. And you do know that NBC, CNN, and Newsweek poll more democratic (because they claim there are more registered democrats).

But you gotta love those USA Today numbers, McCain +10. You can'tmake that kind of stuff up. But keep up the Bush mantra. It didn't work in the last 2 elections, so I'm willing to risk it. ROTFLOL

I have been a lifelong member of the Democratic Party. Even so, I have often voted for Republicans for president. That's because as a "Reagan Democrat" or more recently, a "Blue Dog Democrat" I could not support the super liberal candidates the Democrats offered up. I would have considred voting for Hillary had she been the nominee. But I could never vote for Obama. He is the most liberal Dem the party has ever nominated. In fact, between Obama and Nancy Pelosi, I can't take it anymore. I am changing my registration to Republican.

Anonymous said...

"I have been a lifelong member of the Democratic Party."

Like most republicans, particulary McCain and Palin, you are an inveterate liar. McCain, particulary, spent the last 30 years harping about honor, only to base his candidacy on rumours and lies.

If you have any sense of honesty and integrity, you can't support McCain's political conduct during the past year.

Why are you calling me a liar? It is my opinion that Obama is the most liberal Demo candidate ever nominated. Take your head out of Lamar's ass, and read his own words:

"When you exaggerate or exploit another human being’s physical limitations as an excuse for their willful ignorance, you are actually stripping them of their common humanity and cheapening their struggles."

Since Lamar has never spoken to McCain, and therefore has no idea of what he speaks, and uses a typed paper from 34 years ago, YES THIRTY-FOUR, as his proof, he has tried to cheapen McCain's limitations. I think of all people he would leave physical limitations out of a political dogfight. Especially since he said Obama shouldn't have used the issue in the first place.

Why then try to counter McCain's defenders, if you disagreed with the original statement?

But really. It's OK. It's the Obama playbook, and the reason he's now trailing in Mich. and Penn., attack the handicapped, attack women, attack the religious, attack gun owners.

Obama and Lamar are running out of voters to win over.

I discovered this website a couple of weeks ago, and this is the first time I have ever commented on a website in my entire 57 years.

I moved from Tempe, Arizona to Alexandria three years ago. When I was living in Tempe, I worked in the health care industry for thirty years.

I know John and Cindy McCain. Cindy would check in on us regularly at the clinic and on two occasions, she invited our entire staff to join her and John for dinner in Phoenix.

They're incredibly generous people.

I can't wait to be able to vote for John McCain for President because I can't wait to have Cindy McCain as our first lady.

I'm writing because I know Lamar White as well, and one of his good friends who knows I work the night shift called me and told me about how a few people here were trying to say he was insulting John McCain's disability.

John is active, healthy and in great condition.

He's also old-fashioned. I don't think he can't use a computer. I take John's word when he says he's computer illiterate, but I know he's not saying he can't type or use a computer. He just doesn't know how. Same thing with my 88-year-old mother.

What Lamar wrote is right. People shouldn't say John's too disabled to use a computer. Anyone who has ever spent an extended amount of time with him can see how physically fit he is.

I know Lamar has a much more significant physical disability than John McCain. I read everything Lamar wrote and I didn't see him being ugly or insulting. I don't know why this is even an argument or why you're so cruel.

You're making all of us McCain supporters look bad.

Anonymous said...

I too am a long time fan of McCain. He showed real leadership and independence in the Senate, BUT, you and I revere and respect what McCain was, not what he has become. In his desperation to become president, he has lost all of his honor and integrity and is depending on blatant dishonesty to carry him through this election. I wish he hadn't changed but he has and you have to realize that.

Anonymous said...

I believe all of the "anonymous" posts defending Lamar were written by Lamar. He cannot take criticism without pouncing back and being very ugly in the process. Cathy J.'s is probably the only post in his defense that was not penned by his own hand.

Anonymous said...

An observation:

Lamar signs his stuff, defends his stuff, and is always courteous.

We anonymous posters do none of the above. That's why we don't feel any obligation to the truth, the public good, or courtesy. If we believed in what we say, we would take the credit/blame for saying it. And let me add, that I am not Lamar, and you are quite full of shit.

Thank you

Anonymous said...

I believe what anon wrote about Lamar posting on here to defend himself. His post as Cathy J stated:

"I read everything Lamar wrote and I didn't see him being ugly or insulting."

But of course s/he missed this from Lamar "as an excuse for their willful ignorance."

So, Cathy J (uh, Lamar) calling John McCain willfully ignorant is not being ugly or insulting?

Here let me help, "Insult - implies such insolence of speech or manner as deeply humiliates or wounds one's feelings." So referring to John McCain (someone you claim to really admire) as being willfully ingnorant is not being ugly or insulting?.

Sorry, I don't buy into your defense of Lamar's immature and self-loathing comments about another human's physical limitations.

Anonymous said...

Why spend so much time on Lamar? It's his damn boss that has any affect on our lives, and he's a liar in many people's opinions.

Many of my neighbors were flooded or almost flooded in Charles Park. I found it interesting that water coninued to sit, until suddenly it all disappeared within an hour. That's not my experience with floods. When water has no where to go, it takes time for that to drain off. It doesn't just suddenly find a place to go, unless maybe a hole was somehow opened up. Hmm wonder how that happened?

Go look at Penny Acres. That water didn't just disappear in an hour.

Dear Cenla Antics,

Recognizing that some of you believe politics is a blood sport and that community matters often less than party ideology, I'm writing, knowing full-well the ways in which my statement will be maligned, distorted, and manipulated.

I am willing to take that risk, though I doubt I will feel compelled to blog here again until Mr. Quint Carriere, the owner of this blog, establishes some responsible boundaries and measures of accountability. With all due respect, I have never understood how the offensive and sometimes defamatory comments published on this website would be something that any member of our community would want to manage or own. Again, with all due respect, the traffic on this website is abysmal; I fail to see how this is more of an asset than a liability, because this blog has never served to legitimately promote the ideas or the people for whom it was ostensibly created to support. In short, it's created more grief than good, even for those who hoped that such a venue would help them promote their ideas and their candidates to the community.

I think a thorough and rigorous debate is absolutely imperative, and as someone who has owned his own blog for over two years, I believe in allowing anonymous responses (though, again, it must have some checks). But in my personal opinion, this blog is, more often than not, complete anarchy. So please, don't get me wrong, I'm only saying this: A different and more responsible format will yield a more productive and responsible conversation. And how, exactly, would that be bad for local conservatives and Cenla GOPAC?

Despite what at least one blogger may have you believe, I am not a regular contributor to this website. I am appreciative to those of you who recognize the ways in which my character has been impugned and my opinions have been distorted by anonymous bloggers on this website, and I thank you for taking your time to point this out.

I have never understood the undue attention I have received on this website. I think it sometimes borders on the obsessive and is a demonstration of how completely mean-spirited some of you believe you must be in order to have your "voice" (albeit anonymous) heard.

But I don't blame you entirely. It's also a symptom of the political culture to which you subscribe.

It's partly the result of being educated in the language of political discourse by people like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Michael Savage-- essentially entertainers who use their self-righteous indignation at anyone who thinks differently than they do as an excuse to raise their voices and throw out hyperbolic invectives. (Of course, there are counterparts on the American Left, but their style is not exactly comparable, though they can often be just as offensive).

It's unsophisticated and frequently unfair, sure, but it sometimes works.

So, again, I can't completely blame or cast aspersions against the people who are only attempting to follow the examples of their like-minded national political critics. As a basic template, it is always less about honestly discussing issues and more about tearing down personalities, and again, it's entertaining, provocative, and makes people want to listen.

For example, one blogger would have you believe that I have attacked John McCain's POW injuries and am, therefore, "self-loathing." Nothing could be further from the truth. I was actually criticizing people for very obviously lying about Senator McCain's injuries, which I believe is an insult to him, his service, and his capabilities.

It's a manipulation that could only be created by someone who was only looking to manipulate. It's the invention of someone who doesn't know me, doesn't understand my tone, doesn't understand my beliefs, and doesn't recognize my respect for Senator McCain-- because, to this person, I am only seen as a "liberal." (Incidentally, regarding my statement about "willful ignorance," I was referring to the use of computers, which I believe to be a non-issue and somewhat silly).

Nuance, subtlety, and even the ability to listen to your neighbor as an equal are all thrown out in the attempt to score a cheap political point and anonymously malign someone who may not share your exact political ideology.

And I'm not saying it doesn't happen on the left side of the political spectrum. It does, and when it does, it's equally as frustrating and offensive to our intelligence and sensibilities.

Good luck to all of you.

See you around town.

(Oh, and to the person who made the comment about flooding in Charles Park during and after the impact of a Category 1 hurricane: If you have any questions about this event, I would highly encourage you to call the Mayor's Office).

Anonymous said...

"Many of my neighbors were flooded or almost flooded in Charles Park. I found it interesting that water coninued to sit, until suddenly it all disappeared within an hour. Hmm wonder how that happened?"

Could that be one of the pumps that was struck by lightning (hope that's spelled right) and then came back on after the power surge they are talking about? I swear I actually heard that comment on Channel 5. Pumps were taken out by a strike but then came back on and went to work. Could it also be that some genius decided to open the gates at the flood structure near the drainage canal?

Penny acres doesn't have anything to assist with drainage which is why water has to sit and take time to recede naturally. Just be grateful Charles Park has the structure.

Anonymous said...

From the TT: "As for the early-morning rainfall on Sept. 3, Juneau said, the flood-control pumps were pumping and not disrupted by lightning strikes or power outages, a fact supported by the SCADA report." There goes the power failure defense.

And I imagine city hall will be contacted soon enough by members of the legal profession.

Thanks for responding Lamar, but you make assertions that I find untrue.

1) It's not liberalism, but socialism that concerns me. And the fact that you are an assistant to the mayor is almost unimaginable.

2) You reek with disdain for small town values, and people of faith. Yet are quick to point out the intolerance of those same people. Hypocritical don't you think?

3) You blogged about an ad that you considered silly, but was more offended by the response to the silly ad, than the ad itself. And in your defense you called McCain willfully ignorant, but did little research into what Bush or Clinton's emails abilities were. Clinton wrote 2 e-mails in all of 8 years, and one was a test. Hypocritical much?

4) I have never referred to you in a derogatory manner. And as far as being offensive, well that cuts both ways.

And the only time I have ever used your name in a post was to state my disappointment in you calling McCain to task about computer usage (and in light of the Palin e-mail scandal, I am even more opposed to your point) while poopooing the possibilities of his disbility.

What I take from McCain's statements is the man may be too proud to talk about not being able to type, tie his shoes, or comb his own hair, but clearly stated that his wife helps him in these areas.

That is why I was stunned that you even commented on the topic. But it does prove to me that you are more about advancing your cause than judging an individual's character.

OMG, back to Lamar?

Also from the Town Talk story, Every comment to the pump story is questioning the truth coming from city hall, so it seems it's just not me.

Anonymous said...

Although I will continue to strongly encourage Quint to delete this blog and begin anew with a format that provides him more authority and respect, your comment is one of those that merits a response and is evidence of how Quint can still maintain a conversation on a new and improved Cenla Antics.

Therefore, I will respond:

"Thanks for responding Lamar, but you make assertions that I find untrue.

1) It's not liberalism, but socialism that concerns me. And the fact that you are an assistant to the mayor is almost unimaginable."

My friend, I am not a socialist. I have never been a socialist, and I find it absurd, reductionistic, hyperbolic, and, with all due respect, ignorant that anyone would attempt to label me as a socialist.

I believe in free market capitalism. I have for the entirety of my life, and for the record (and I'm not trying to brandish my resume, but I think this is an important point in the context of this discussion), among other things, including work in the private sector, I have earned a certificate in the high skills of business from one of the most conservative business schools in the United States, the Cox School at SMU, which awarded both me and my colleagues the highest honor and for which I was interviewed on CBS Dallas (I say that only to point out that there is, in fact, a media record).

"2) You reek with disdain for small town values, and people of faith. Yet are quick to point out the intolerance of those same people. Hypocritical don't you think?"

With all due respect, this is absurd. I am from a small town, and I earned my undergraduate degree in Religious Studies.

I harbor no intolerance, as you suggest, because if I were to, I wouldn't be able to tolerate myself. I do, however, harbor some specific criticisms of individuals who subscribe to a particular political ideology and believe, with prejudice, in their own moral, ethical, and religious superiority.

"3) You blogged about an ad that you considered silly, but was more offended by the response to the silly ad, than the ad itself. And in your defense you called McCain willfully ignorant, but did little research into what Bush or Clinton's emails abilities were. Clinton wrote 2 e-mails in all of 8 years, and one was a test. Hypocritical much?"

Simply not true. I did my homework. Prior to being elected President, Bush used e-mail as a way of communicating, and President Clinton has never suggested he is computer illiterate. I believe ignorance is willful, and stupidity is a disability.

"4) I have never referred to you in a derogatory manner.

But it does prove to me that you are more about advancing your cause than judging an individual's character."

Sorry, my friend, I commented on the topic because I am disabled, and I know personally how and why this argument was bogus and insulting to Senator McCain and his service to our nation. Again, Senator McCain can, has, and does use a computer. He may be "computer illiterate," but I take the man's word when he says he can get on the Internet and use a BlackBerry. That is precisely why I find it ignorant and insulting to the Senator to exploit the injuries he received in service to our country as an excuse against a political attack. And while I may fundamentally believe the attack itself is not substantive, I still find it offensive both to him as well as the thousands of disabled Americans who have learned to adapt. Perhaps you will never be able to understand my perspective (and to me, that is understandable), but I humbly submit to you, in all sincerity, that I would never attempt to make fun of or downplay another human being's disability. My criticism rests solely with those who are far too eager to use another man's injuries to defend a cheap political attack. As I repeatedly point out, neither McCain nor his campaign have ever done this; instead, it's been done by right-wing bloggers and people like Karl Rove (an individual who has repeatedly shown his propensity to play fast and loose with the facts).

Thanks for the opportunity to correct the record.

Quint, again, I hope you consider a fresh start.

Lamar's tome on Lamar would be far more impressive had he not outright lied about his self-serving motives for support the Roy candidacy. That lie will never go away and Lamar is a very young man so he will live with it for a long time.

He can't try to sell himself as an idealist and a moral compass for hire and get caught in a lie like this. Amazing that he would not realize that.

Also, perhaps you need to find a few condescension code words. "I find it absurd, reductionistic, hyperbolic," which you blurt at every opportunity, fail to "blossom".

And your efforts to shut down this blog: we liberals normally aren't silencers or bookburners. You don't like the content and the method because they support criticism of you. muhammad, dont know him and could not care less. keep showing your ignorance. the congress created the policy forcing the lenders to loosen lending rules so people that could not afford these houses could buy them. and as for the rest of you liberal pansies, STFU!!

Anonymous said...

The current mortgage crisis rests squarely on one Andrew Cuomo(D-NY). Who, when appointed by Wild Bill with no financial experience, relaxed lending rules so that minorities could buy houses with no income, no money down, and no credit history.

This is the same failed mentality that gives us Social Security, welfare, global warming, and national health care. There is no free ride. Someone must pay the tab, and this is the result of a crazed Washington mentality (REPUBLICANS recently included).

We live in a capitalistic society, and despite someone's recents claims to be a capitalist, his support of social engineering through money policy is doomed to failure. We are in the midst of the cleansing of that failed policy right now. Sad, but true.

More liberal BS. All this talk about McCain and emails. Now we have a Democrat Senator from Tn. and his 20 yr old son, who seems to be the target of the investigation into Palin's emails. Yeah, that's what we want the genius Obama crowd running this country. Shows that possessing the ability to email proves nothing, even in today's world.

You can still be ignorant even with that knowledge.

. . . and we bail out the conglomerates who were motivated by pure greed and faulty judgment, to the tune of $190 Billion Dollars (thus far) and let local loan foreclose on the basic sociatal unit, the family. The republicans and macho capitalists like yourself did away with the regulation that could have either stopped or at least blunted the disaster that now faces us. There is no responsible economist or legislator or executive that does not put this squarely on the back of reckless deregulation to benefit the megacorporations. Bush and Cheney and the republicans want more for the very rich and don't really mind if it fucks up the country. When the score card is in there will be some deservingly destroyed reputaions and factions and you can look at yourself and see that you have harmed real people, real mothers and fathers and children. You big fucking capitalist, you. You are the ones who spent beyond your means and resources and now the rabble has to save your ass.

But when someone who wants to be in charge of a political party supports someone outside of that party against a Republican you have to wonder if you have the right guy leading the party.

Wasn't the head of Obama's VP search committee the former CEO of Countrywide - you know the guy pulling down $90 Million all the while taking subprime mortgages, dumping the paper on any taker he can find and laughing all the way to the bank until his world came crashing down? Why isn't any of this stink on him?

And what about Barney Frank? He's the chair of the House Financial Services Committee. They oversee the entire financial mess. When you go back and review the information on subprimes, they proudly tout Democrats have supported expanding the subprime mortgage programs to provide opportunities for people with no credit to become homeowners. Is this also part of Obama's wonderland approach to solving our problems?

The one thing I will say Frank did that was good - he proposed legislation to extend the National Flood Insurance program for a few more months beyond Sept. 30th so they can all figure out a real solution to the problem. Thanks Barney.

To the nut who keeps demanding change because of the Bush economy... And since I'm sure you haven't made enough money to move out of your mother's house. I'll take the word of someone who's made billions instead:

on the credit crisis: "One has got to go back on this and say, this started 15 years ago, with Barney Frank pushing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make a lot of bad loans"

That would be Barney Frank (D-Mass). And of course this from the same man:

"Obama... going to give us a lot of inflation, going to ruin our relationships with the rest of the world. And going to slow down the rest of the world, too. And going to make people frightened to add to employment. You are going to find companies leaving this country. His policy is really very, very naive, old-fashioned, 1960s."

"They turn on the TV, and every single station, all you're hearing about is how bad things are on Wall Street. So it's hard to keep out of your mind."

Even with all the bad news, there were still optimists to be found among the thicket of entrepreneurs."

Did you catch the "on every single station?"

It's the dem. gameplan, keep talking down the economy, the economy will weaken, and a dem. can be elected.

Sad, very sad, that for the democrats to win, our country must first lose.

So they must be suicidal over these numbers:

"U.S. stocks surged in the biggest two-day global rally in 38 years.

The Standard & Poor's 500 Index jumped 4 percent, capping its steepest two-day gain since the aftermath of the 1987 crash. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 929 points from yesterday's low and markets from the U.K. to China advanced the most ever."

All that and oil at $92 a barrel. Obama will need a new message before Nov.

I'm not a big fan of Wayne Ryan, but his support for Rocky Willson, a democrat, is no reason to attack him. Its a judges race, partisanship should not be an issue. Its doesn't matter what party he chairs, he should be able to openly support whoever he feels is the best candidate.

* Over 70% of our national debt has been created under three Republican Presidents.

* The incomes of working poor families grew six times as fast under Democratic administrations than under Republican administrations.

* The incomes of the rich have grown at the same rates under Republican and Democratic administrations.

* Real middle class wage growth was twice as fast under Democratic administrations than under Republican administrations. Double.

* Under Obama's tax plan, 90% of Americans would get a bigger tax break than under McCain's plan.

http://www.lafn.org/gvdc/Natl_Debt_Chart.html

* Economic growth in the Clinton administration averaged 4.0% a year.

* 22.5 million new jobs were created during the Clinton administration

* In November of 2000, unemployment was at 4.0%. Today, it is at 6.1%.

* When Clinton left office, inflation was at its lowest rate since the 1960s.

* Clinton left office was the largest surplus in American history.

* Unemployment is at a 5 year high.

* Housing foreclosures have set records rivaled only by those set during the Great Depression.

* The national debt has increased by 70% under the Bush administration.

* Jobs: The economy has produced one-fourth the number of new jobs (5.7 million) under Bush as it did under Clinton (21 million).

* Manufacturing Jobs: The country lost nearly 4 million manufacturing jobs under Bush (down from 17.3 to 13.4 million). The number of manufacturing jobs grew under Clinton (from 16.8 to 17.3 million)

* Income: Many measures of real income have fallen under Bush – for example, real per-capita income is down about $100. By contrast, real-per capita income rose by more than $5,400 under Clinton.

* Economic Growth: Having grown by nearly 4 percent during Clinton’s, the economy has grown by an average of only 2 percent during Bush’s term. So much for the fiction that tax cuts for the wealthy are the key to economic growth.

* Budget Deficit/Surplus: For Bush’s last year in office, the White House currently projects a budget deficit of $389 billion for 2008 and this was before the current economic turmoil. In contrast, Clinton produced a $236 billion surplus in his last year in office. That’s a turn for the worse of more than $600 billion per year.

* Gas Prices: The average price of a gallon of gas on the day George Bush took office: $1.45. Today: $3.87.

* Unemployment Rate: Unemployment is up to 6.1 percent in August 2008 and likely to rise much higher in the coming months. It was 4.2 percent in January 2001 when G. W. Bush took office.

* Poverty: After declining precipitously under Clinton (down by 25 percent), poverty is again on the rise under Bush (up more than 10 percent).

* Dollar: On the day George W. Bush took office, a dollar bought 1.07 Euros. Today you’d get 0.70 Euros. That’s a loss of a third of the value of the dollar under Bush.

* Inflation: After nearly twenty years of stable prices, inflation is back with a bang as Bush leaves office. In the past twelve months, inflation has risen sharply to 5.7 percent. During Clinton’s presidency, inflation averaged 2.6 percent.

The world, and our economy stopped. Moron.

I don't think I've met anyone as stupid as you.

What you did was akin to comparing the Coolidge's Roaring 20's to FDR's leadership following the Great depression and WWII and claim Coolidge was better for the country because the stats looked better.

Anonymous said...

Interesting analogy.

One problem, though.

WWII and FDR's New Deal took America out of the Great Depression. It didn't force us into greater debt, higher inflation, or higher unemployment.

FDR put people to work and regulated the markets to protect Americans.

Maybe 9/11 can be compared to Pearl Harbor. They were both unprovoked attacks on American soil, and both events forced us into war.

The comparison ends there.

Instead of asking Americans to sacrifice, Bush asked Americans to shop. Instead of making sure the war effort put Americans to work and put money into the pockets of the middle class, Bush made sure the war effort could generate huge profits for the rich and big companies through no-bid contracts.

FDR inherited the Great Depression. Bush inherited a strong economy.

Bush stripped regulations and weakened the economy and the economic security of the average American during a time of war.

FDR believed in shared sacrifice, and he left our country in better shape than it was when he came to power, even though he led during the biggest war in the history of the world. Bush believes in selfish gain and is leaving all of us with a burden to pass down to our children.

Republicans like to use 9/11 as an excuse for failure, instead of an example of American resilience.

Anonymous said...

Where the comparison stops is with the new democratic party.

After Pearl Harbor EVERYONE rallied behind FDR, and stayed with him.

The demos couldn't wait to turn on Bush, started predicting failure, demanding we get out, and then set their sights on the economy to do the same thing.

Sorry, but if you compare our economy 7 yrs after 9/11, to 7 yrs after the Great Depression? No contest.

Here's a chart from Harvard business school that backs it up

http://harvardbusiness.org/flatmm/hbextras/200805/recessions/

Notice how the slope of the line is greater than the period after WWII, and even greater than the slope of the 1990's.

Now call them boys at Harvard an idiot.

The Harvard research is solid, but the graph begins in 1948.

That's 19 years after Black Monday (October 28, 1929), which was the beginning of the Great Depression, and 3 years after FDR died.

The graph is meaningless, and the degree of the slope of the line is contingent on the relative scales of the x and y variables.

The truth is that Bush had a 90%+ approval rating after 9/11, and practically the entire country decided to stand behind him.

No one predicted failure until the Bush administration began lying about the reasons for a preemptive strike against Iraq.

Even though 15 of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, we tried to put the blame on Iraq. Even though we all knew Osama bin Laden was living in between the Afghanistan/Pakistan border, we tried to put the blame on Iraq.

Without any evidence and despite the teams of UN inspectors on the ground who said otherwise, Bush told us Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. We now know the inspectors were right the whole time. There were no weapons.

Saddam Hussein was an evil man, and we're all better without him. Just don't try and pretend like Bush is a hero and Democrats were unpatriotic.

There's nothing more unpatriotic than putting Americans into unnecessary danger based on purposely phony intelligence. This isn't the American people's fault, because most of us wanted to trust George Bush.

It's George Bush's fault for lying about a danger and trying to make it all seem patriotic, and it's the Republican Party's fault for making people believe it was patriotic to believe in his lie.

Meanwhile, bin Laden is still alive, more than 4,000 Americans and 200,000 Iraqis are dead, the world is more hostile to us than ever, Iraq has a huge surplus, and we're in a recession and have a big debt.

I agree. Not too shabby by comparison, since Clinton nor Reagan dealt with a 9-11, a war, or a Katrina.

Bush and Cheney new their intel was, if not totally wrong, certainly not reliable. His CIA director, the one the graced with the Metal of Freedom, told them there were serious reservations about the WMD information. But, at any rate, if you do something that's wrong, even if you didn't know better at the time, you quit when you find out you are wrong. Not Bush.

"How the Democrats Created the Financial Crisis"

"Democrats opposed it on a party-line vote in the committee. Republicans, couldn't even get the Senate to vote on the matter."

"That such a reckless political stand could have been taken by the Democrats was obscene even then."

"Now that the collapse has occurred, the roadblock built by Senate Democrats in 2005 is unforgivable."

"senators who protected Fannie and Freddie, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Christopher Dodd, have received mind-boggling levels of financial support from them over the years."

"while Democrats point fingers between now and Nov. 4: Sen. McCain was one of the three cosponsors of the bill that would have averted this mess."

Remember none of this happened until the Democrats recaptured the House and Senate.

Anonymous said...

Remember, none of this happened until we had a republican president, a republican treasury secretary, and a republican war.

I keep reading this (and the news) and chuckle to myself, because of the weak attempts by Democrats to blame the Republicans for the mess on Wall St.

You want to know why? Because there are no congressional hearings on the matter. They're not even being mentioned.

I mean, we've had hearings on Iran-Contra, Watergate, Guantanomo, Steroid use in baseball, Dismissal of US attorneys, Iraqi Intel, Big oil, etc. Yet none on the most significant thing to happen in quite a while. None, nyet, nada, non.

If there was any way whatsoever that they could blame the Repubs, there would be hearings.

But since they can't, no hearings.

That's all the proof you need. And no one, with a straight face, can deny that fact.
