Happy Holidays!!!

I have a request of all you bloggers. I ask that for just one day, no one insults anyone or intentionally misconscrue facts in an attempt to assasinate someone's character.

When I read the postings, sometimes I want to hit DELETE for the entire blog. I am in total agreement with Horace. If you haven't jumped in to help out, then you have no say. Let's start 2008 intelligently.

Merry Christmas ... Happy Chanuka ... Merry Quanza ... Merry Hajh (??)

On your little comment about public service. Chevalier was President of the Special Olympics for God knows how long, he was in the exchange club, he did this, he did that. And someone like that shouldnt be in the public position. Anyone who ever worked for him loved him because they know he is a good man!!!

Anonymous said...

Sorry, not buying your defense of our incompetent mayor.

He promotes the guy to lead counsel on 7/28. The decision was handed down on 7/30, which means all filings, testimony, etc. was done prior to the promotion, yet no one knew that was ongoing?

And you're OK with that? I just think it points to our boy not being very smart.

He was wrong in the court fight with Marshall, wrong again in the court fight with Goins, he got suckered by the Bentley group, he got conned by atty Sharp, he hired Foster for a job that hadn't been approved, he hired Lamar to blog about socialism.

He's a disaster waiting to happen. And don'tmisunderstand me, the council's not any better. But my God man, Roy claims to be educated and all. I just don't see it. Tim to move on.

Anonymous said...

OK, agreed. Chevalier is the best guy since jesus. He fed the poor and healed the sick. That still doesn't overcome his problem with knowing nothing about the job that he says he is best qualified for. It is obviously more about having the job than doing the job. You keep harping on Messina's shortcoming but never address the fact that Chevalier never took the time to learn the details of operating a marshal's office. You, like your candidate, simply do not understand. The suggestion that you give him some guidance and suggest he bone up on the job is wasted because you have that shit/shinola problem like your candidate. But hey, if I'm the only one distressed about Chevalier's ignorance, what do you have to worry about???

Anonymous said...

Okay oh mighty smart one, I will bring that up at the next meeting (HA)... If your so smart and you know so much maybe you should run?!?!

Anonymous said...

Is the Chevalier team wanting to make an issue of alcohol abuse???

Anonymous said...

"Who is Tim?"

Hopefully someone other than JRoy, who can be our next mayor.

I'm just sick of the monumental Fups by Flynn, Inc. Wagner's history of lies, Roy jr voting against Hwy 8 funding, and getting pissy when the pay raise got vetoed (hypocrite), and JRoy pushing a racial agenda, his hiring decisions, childish tantrums, and the whole CLECO fiasco. And I didn't even mention his getting advice from the socialist Lil' Lamar (maybe that could be included under hiring decisions).

Anonymous said...

I think you meant Hwy 28W.

Notice how that since Lamar's gone to Denver the Roy defenders have disappeared. Things that make you go hmmmm.

Anonymous said...

Chris Roy didn't vote against 28 spending, you imbeciles. He voted against breaking the spending cap-- something Republicans like Moon Griffon praised him for.

It's so funny that when Blanco wanted to break the cap, the Republicans went apeshit, but when Jindal tried to, you looked the other way and tried to blame the Democrats who actually felt the same way you did only four years ago.

Anonymous said...

The Roy supporters are alive and well in Alexandria, thank you very much.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, that's why Roy got a cracker for lunch from his fellow legislators.

And there's a huge difference in breaking the cap to fund goat rodeo facilities, rhe purple social circle club, and sugar mills, than to fund Highway construction.

And yes, by voting against the cap, he voted against finishing 28. Otherwise, that money would have gone back into the general fund for such things as huge pay raises, McKinley Hi alumuni association, and NGO's.

Anonymous said...

"And yes, by voting against the cap, he voted against finishing 28. Otherwise, that money would have gone back into the general fund for such things as huge pay raises, McKinley Hi alumuni association, and NGO's."

Dear Lance Maxwell,

NO.

You're lying-- lying about the process and the budget. Weren't you also caught lying about your fake position with your fake law firm?

By voting against the cap, Roy VOTED AGAINST BREAKING THE CAP. He voted FOR 28 spending, Lance.

You're trying to make it look like Roy's vote against breaking the cap was actually against 28 funding. Who do you think you're fooling???

Anonymous said...

Sorry to disappoint but I'm not Maxwell. Even Roys fellow legislators knew it was a stupid vote, that's why they served him the cracker at their luncheon.

But his prime performance was the idiotic interview he gave where he was MAD that Jindal had vetoed his HUGE pay raise. He voted AGAINST the raise, why be mad about the veto? His vote AGREED with the veto position.

He once AGAIN made a fool of himself and deserved another cracker.

I assume this is you Chris, and you're mad because you're too dumb to think issues through, and then cast a vote that can defended. Its become very clear that your votes are not well thought out.

By "racial agenda", you must mean taking back the authority of the administrative branch of city government that the council thought was their's and abused during the latter part of Ned's tenure. Just because the council is majority black, is doing things improperly and they get called on it does not equal racism. Or maybe part of the "racial agenda" is saying no to Bridgett Brown sucking on the city teat, getting something for nothing (Cleco fee for doing no work), simply because "It's her turn now".

Anonymous said...

How can Messina run for office if he is a felon? Or perhaps are you full of shit?

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately, when cops commit crimes they are handled as "internal investigations" so as not to embarrass the department and so that the crooked cop can go to another department or job without his criminal past complicating his life and without having to worry that he will rat out the other crooks and thugs in the department. There was one copy who was stealing tires while on duty and in uniform and transporting the loot in his cruiser and he went on worker's comp and had his record white washed. If you plan a life of crime, the police department (be it APD, RPSO, or NOPD) is the place to operate from.

Anonymous said...

" If you plan a life of crime, the police department (be it APD, RPSO, or NOPD) is the place to operate from."

And let's not forget that the FBI ranks the APD as the second most corrupt municipal police agency in the state, right behind NOPD.

Guess who was a high ranking police officer in the APD before he got caught and forced out?

Messina!

Anonymous said...

Lance, no, I am not Chris Roy. I'm just someone who, unlike yourself, knows the facts, and the fact is that Chris Roy did not vote against 28 West spending.

About that pay raise veto, I know it must be hard to see the light when your head is so far up Jindal's ass, but you do realize that Jindal lied to the legislature about that bill and was forced to cave into political pressure??

It just showed Jindal is not a man of his word and not nearly as smart as you think he is. No one is whining about this more than Jindal and his sycophants. Waaa Waaa Waaa! They called Jindal out and threatened to recall him because he tried to trade vouchers for a pay raise, and when he was forced to cave in, they called him out for lying all along.

Anonymous said...

Lance, also, if you were down in Baton Rouge with the big boys and not wallowing in Alexandria behind your rented computer, you'd know the "cracker" thing WAS A FUCKING JOKE, NOT AN INSULT!

Moron.

Anonymous said...

His racial agenda meant calling out only black members of the council on the secret meeting BS.

Firing black Bridgett while keeping white Sharp.

Plotting with white candidates to run against black council members, while white members went unopposed.

Moving black personnel around without informing the council, while doing nothing about the white "temp" over the utility dept.

Opposing the TIF plan by black Dixon to announce his own white SPARC tax plan.

It's all so obvious, Chris. But he's your brother so I see why you're on here to defend him. And the cracker was a joke, like you.

And Jindal did just like you did. He lied to the people. He admitted to his mistake. Your anger on KALB showed that you have no intention of admitting to yours.

You wanted the raise. You thought the fix was in. You wanted to get away with voting no, and was PISSED when it didn't go quite as planned. Next time be gracious, and say the people have spoken, not blame Jindal for listening to the people.

And if you head wasn't so far up your own liberal A**, you would have been able to hear the people.

Thank God, Jindal listens.

BTW, you voting for Obama too?

Anonymous said...

Listen idiot, you ain't talking to Chris, as much as you hope you are. Thankfully most people remember the facts and don't have to try and rewrite history.

Anonymous said...

Yeah i never seen Chevalier in the paper as doing nothing negative or breaking the law. Hes always in the paper as doing something positive. Unlike Messina thats how people know him is because he is always doing something negative and making the headlines. GREAT CANIDATE HAHA

Anonymous said...

Sorry, but the poster is right. Had Chris Roy, Jr. got his way and the funding cap not been lifted, those funds would revert to the general fund and could have been appropriated for any project. A freshman solon from Cenla would have no weight on getting these funds for 28 construction.

Also, his not rejecting the raise and his heated TV interview displayed his true feelings about getting the raise. Look at Hazel's example. He also voted No, but we saw no angry tirades from him.

So no one's trying to rewrite history, we're just calling 'em like we see 'em.

Anonymous said...

"His racial agenda meant calling out only black members of the council on the secret meeting BS."

He called out the council members who were involved in the secret meetings.

"Firing black Bridgett while keeping white Sharp."

Sharp was fired when his ethics problems came out. He would be a fool to allow Bridgett to represent him on anything.

"Plotting with white candidates to run against black council members, while white members went unopposed."

Council members who drew opponents need to be replaced. Only way this city will move forward and not be a joke, unless you think spray parks and walking tracks will move us along.

"Moving black personnel around without informing the council, while doing nothing about the white "temp" over the utility dept."

Waah, we can't push the mayor around anymore. Your'e not dealing with Ned anymore, Myron.

"Opposing the TIF plan by black Dixon to announce his own white SPARC tax plan."

Wise to oppose anything proposed by Dixon. Even with Kelvin Sanders ties to Myron and Bridgett, he would have been a better choice for the district.

To prove they type of lying snakes that infest this blog, see here for a photo of T.A. Messina playing football for LSU
http://centrallapolitics.blogspot.com/2008/08/did-ta-messina-play-for-lsu.html

WeSawThat, after first participating in the hatchet job on Messina, printed this today:

"I was asked to look up stats from the 1979 football game between LSU and Colorado to see if T.A. Messina was found in the play-by-play records. In the fourth quarter with 1:11 left to play, Messina kicked the PAT on LSU's last touchdown to make it 44-0. In the 1980 media guide in the game recap section, the final sentence of the Colorado recap says something to the effect of "T.A. Messina kicked the final PAT to cap off a near perfect day for the Tigers in the Rockies."
http://wesawthat.blogspot.com/2008/08/t-messina-lsu-controversy-finally.html

There was no controvery, as all that knew T.A. knew he played for LSU. The cohntroversy lied with the people who lied about it and those who automatically thought T.A. was a liar. Be careful of the trash you read on here.

Anonymous said...

OK, so now we find the real truth. TA Messina was a bit player on the scout squad at LSU for the year 1977, 78, and 79. Messina, like 30 or so other mediocre players, walked on, with no scholarship, and didn’t even get enough time playing to letter. BTW, in order to letter you have to play.

Messina was so un-important that the only time he even got into a game was a PAT after LSU already had a 43 point lead. I guess Charlie Mac thought that even Messina couldn’t screw that one up.

Bottom line is that TA is still a liar. For years we have listened to him crow about what a great football player he was. One game, one kick, with a 43 point lead already on the board doesn’t make you a player. It shows the coaching staff felt sorry for you.

Anonymous said...

Messina didn't say he was a great player, he just said that he played. You sire are the liar. And, he was an LSU Tiger, were you?

Anonymous said...

I am happy for Messina. His problem seems to be all the stupid stuff he's done since his Tiger days. Those are a lot easier to prove than his 4th string PAT in landslide game.

Anonymous said...

once again you miss the point. you sit there and curse the man, calling him a liar and once he has been proved correct you say it doesnt matter. if it didnt matter then why did you feel you needed to lash out as you all did. you were wrong and have opened yourselves up to a libel suit. i really believe this is your way of trying to avert blame. there are alot of people out there that knew t.a. played at lsu. as small of a role as it was it was still playing ball at one of the finest institutes in america. i believe there are alot of people out there who are jealous, but are too cowardly to admit it.

Anonymous said...

"Messina didn't say he was a great player, he just said that he played."

BULLSHIT! I know TA, I know him VERY WELL! I had to work with that blowhard for 12 years at APD. Every fall when football season rolled around we all had to listen to TA's bullshit about what a great football player he was, his scholarship, how he is best friends with GREAT LSU players like George Atiyeh and Hokie Gajan.

Now it turns out that it's all BULLSHIT!

But we're not surprised, TA has always been a liar, and always will. He was an embarassment to the APD then, and he is now.

Take it from those that know him best. Electing TA Messina to ANYTHING would be a huge mistake!

Anonymous said...

"...it was still playing ball at one of the finest institutes in america.

Really??? Not to take anything from LSU, but in 1979 LSU was 7-5 and un-ranked. 1976 thru 1980 were really bad years for LSU football. Messina couldn’t even make the starting squad for a program scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Sure, they beat Colorado, they should have. Colorado went 3-8 that year.

In 1979, against Colorado, any chimpanzee could have kicked a PAT.

I remember Messina was unreliable as a high school kicker at Menard. He had no leg strength and his kicks often went wild. Unless the ball was inside the 20, forget it...

For Messina to BRAG on his football playing skill is laughable.

Anonymous said...

Alright I have been amused by the back and forth about Mayor Roy's antics (pun intended), but after hearing him basically cry on the radio this morning (via Internet), and then reading the Town Talk online that he's starting a weekly administrative press conference (to defend himself, I suppose), I have to agree that this guy is a train wreck waiting to happen. God bless you folks in Alexandria, can't say I miss it much anymore.

Anonymous said...

Thank you for agreeing.

That's all I've been trying to say. Whereas, the council is really screwy, Roy is absolutely, positively not the right guy for the job.

We cannot re-elect this guy. His ego would create more problems than can be fixed. Remove him as part of the problem, and then start to fix the problem.

Anonymous said...

No Republican will ever win the mayor's race in Alexandria. If you ain't for Roy, then you're for Lawson and his crime gang... which makes you a big part of the problem.

Anonymous said...

wat does small penises have any thing to do with any thing i didnt no u had to have a big penis to be a marshal i gues thats y byrds been there for so long

Anonymous said...

"Lawson and his crime gang"

Like the other poster said, I'm having trouble distinguishing between Myron's Brown, and Roy's Sharp.

Seems to me Brown is guilty of being arrogant, Sharp of theft.

Roy dismissed Brown, but kept Sharp. You're not gonna convince me that had nothing to do with race.

And once you're tagged with that, then you have nowhere to go in a majority black city. I too agree with the other posters, this city needs a fresh start without the current mayor.

Anonymous said...

And before you say, Sharp was dismmissed, my point was at the time Roy was investigating Brown's purpose in the suit, he should have extended that to Sharp. He did not, because Sharp wasn't brown (you can take that either way).

Anonymous said...

BULLSHIT. TOTAL BULLSHIT. Sharp's problems had nothing to do with Cleco and were kept confidential until last week.

YOU ARE A RACE-BAITING BULLSHITTER.

Anonymous said...

"confidential until last week."

So nobody bothered to call his olf firm to check his resume? Somehow that doesn't make me feel better about the Roy administration.

Anonymous said...

"So nobody bothered to call his olf firm to check his resume?"

Mr. Sharp's troubles have nothing to do with his "old" firm or his resume. The charges were leveled by memebers of his current firm.

Roy took action as soon as he became aware of the disciplinary ruling.

Get over it.

"And why didn't any of you cops arrest him for committing felonies and doing anything you accuse him of doing wrong/ Sounds like you all are as crooked as you accuse him of being."

It’s called "The Blue Wall." It’s an informal code of conduct for law enforcement people that says they will all turn a blind eye to the wrongdoings of their fellow officers. TA Messina never got arrested because his "brothers" in law enforcement continued to let him slide, no matter what the hell he did. It’s called Police Corruption, and the APD is the second dirtiest department in the state, right behind New Orleans.

As a high ranking police officer, Messina did more than his fair share to contribute to that ranking.

Plain and simple, he’s a dirty cop.

Anonymous said...

We need more dirty cops. I'm tired of the chicken shit police work. The Barney Fife's have no problem arresting house wives for going over 25 mph on Elliott Street or making a rolling stop in Charles Park but never seem to be at the scene of the real crimes. Dirty cops let the chicken shit stuff slide and catch and beat the real criminals. Dirty cops rough up the criminals in the back of the squad car where the camera won't catch them. That's real justice.

Anonymous said...

Tony, the problem is that a lot of the cops become cops for the same reason that a lot of the priests become priests: they can get away with doing horrible things to innocent people and be protected from any real consequences. It's a bad deal all the way around.

This coming from a focus group that polled overwhelmingly, "Change for change's sake got us in this mess."

Sorry, Lamar. Wrong again.

Think about what the Palin pick really says about how McCain views this campaign and how he views his potential responsibilities in national security.

Think about what it says about the sincerity of McCain's own central criticism of Obama these past two months in foreign affairs.

Think about how he picked a woman to be a heartbeat away from a war presidency who hadn't even thought much, by her own admission, about the Iraq war as late as 2007.

Think about how he made this decision barely knowing the woman.

Think about the fact that the most McCain could say about his potential war-time vice-president in foreign affairs and national security when selecting her is that she commanded Alaska's National Guard as governor and has a son in the military.

Think about the men and women serving this country who have every right to trust that their potential commander-in-chief, whatever their party, would have some record of even interest in foreign policy before assuming office.

Think about how the key factor in this decision was not who could defend this country were something dreadful happen to McCain in office but how to tread as much on Obama's convention bounce and use women's equality as a wedge issue among Democrats because it might secure a few points here or there. Oh, and everyone would be surprised. And even Rove would be annoyed.

This is his sense of honor and judgment. This is his sense of responsibility and service.

You're just pissed because others are agreeing with me.

Roy was on the wrong side of the both court cases. He showed up to monitor them. He was so sure he was right, that he was willing to be linked with the defeat. He's gotta stay out of other people's elections. It will come back to haunt him.

Yes he is being duped. The Bentley group is the same group of people, recycling ways to get part of the tax pie.

The chamber said, sorry Jack, we're not getting involved (through the media) which is a very public way.

Handing Foster $7,000 got us what exactly? Yeah, that was a great way to spend tax dollars. Why not wait until council approval like Seastrunk?

"you also sound like a pissy little bitch."

See I know what I'm talking about.

"Your blogging makes you look like a fascist"

Because I think Roy is ill-prepared to govern, that's fascism? Do you even own a dictionary?

"How does Obama, the Olympics, or Palin have anything to do with Jacques Roy?"

Are you that dense? Roy is hoping to unseat an incumbent. How do you do that, if everyone is talking about other things? How do you get your message out? Everyone's heard of Roosevelt. Few know Roy's boy, or that he's backing him. And the hurricane will probably destroy any campaign time.

You're ignorant.

Anonymous said...

I don't see how he's ignorant. He may be dead on about the election. If the hurricane hits on 9/3, and we are without power and water for 5 days, then clean-up begins around the 9th, leaving only 3 weeks to campaign. And if voters are busy cleaning up after for a major storm, I don't expect a lot of people are going to be in the mood for speeches.

Not a surprise that the ignorant are already trying to calculate how to capitalize on the political ramifications of a natural disaster.

You should be ashamed.

Alexandria officials might consider issuing a city-wide mandate for folks to turn off irrigation systems until well after the Hurricane as a precaution to conserve water. I'm also hoping to hear some more detailed instructions concerning storm preparedness including safe generator usage as well as suggested supply lists. We take others' common sense for granted, but...

Anonymous said...

What a thoughtful suggestion. If we receive the projected 25 inches of rain, I predict that folks will not feel the need to irrigate. What do you think??

Anonymous said...

Just a thought I had when passing by homes and businesses with sprinklers going over the past couple days. I am sure there are very many more measures that can be taken to conserve water which could be enacted by the city itself. :-)

Another good idea would be to fix all the traffic lights so they only have red lenses and that way people would have to stay at the intersections forever and couldn't get home to drink water or flush their toilets.

I have to finally agree with however has been on here harping about an ineffective mayor. Here we go again with water problems following a minimal hurricane and no utility director. Whether a person in the position would have made a difference, it sure looks stupid that we don't have one.

But we've got $150,000 to pay 2 people, one of which we soon let go? Priorities are in the wrong place it seems. We need people in place that are responsible for life's necessitities, before we need other jobs filled!!!!

Anonymous said...

No utility director, but you apparently have power if you are posting on the internet. Did you watch the news? From what I saw on channel 3, the power plant had storm damage and was losing water through the cooling tower. But, it was running. Get a life. A Utility Director and a Mayor can't prevent a hurricane.

Do you honestly think Ned did more during Rita and Katrina?

Anonymous said...

Question:
I have heard numerous press conferences with the mayor orating in his special magnificent way but we have yet to see a single utility truck in the garden district, in cherokee village, in charles park, or in high point. Where are all these crews that Roy was boasting about?

Anonymous said...

Perhaps because they are elsewwere?

Anonymous said...

The crews are working. Neighborhoods with trees have more damage. Those guys are working 18 hour days. Most people do have power.

"No utility director, but you apparently have power if you are posting on the internet."

You are as stupid as your mayor. Let's see, maybe a blackberry, IPhone, generator, perhaps?

Gee it's soooooo nice to see that our favorite little socialist is back from the Dem. convention. We missed your tirades Lamar. Now it's back to your political patronage gig defending an incompetent mayor huh Lamar.

Anonymous said...

I trust that Lamar understands that there will always be sore losers, political opponents, and detractors of any administration and realizes that the least threatening are the cowards like you who snipe without reason or cause.

What I don't understand is why Lamar or anyone feels the need to defend themselves against the cowardly attackers and attacks.

Lamar, the attention just means you are doing a credible job. That, of course, does not cure you initial dishonesty in accepting (soliciting) city employment but, what the hell: Silver and Dixon both blatantly lied to their consituents and got away with it.

Palin Power!!!

She rocks. Not a big fan of McCain, but she sold me lat night!!!

we are worried about water parks, revilizing downtown, the bentley hotel and all of J Ray and the handicapped kid's pie in the sky project but cannot provide water to our citizens or remove water from our streets.

How hard would it be to install a lift station and pump water over into the river and to have emergency generators at the well sites plus additional storage capacity? no we are to interested in lamar's and jacques dreams than providing basic services to the citizens.

She's making her 17 year old knocked up high school Sr. daughter marry her sperm donor. How smart is that. She is also a big proponent of intelligent design. He would have done better with Leibowitz.

Anonymous said...

You're just jealous that, even with her pregnant daughter, Palin is more of a man than you'll ever be.

Anonymous said...

"Palin is more of a man than you'll ever be."

I would have to agree. Most dem. men are slightly wimpy in my experience

The Inquirer is on to some extra-marital affairs she is supposed to have had in Alaska. They got Edwards right. They will nail Palin.

She will fit in with the rest of those Republicans that screw guys. The only difference is that she is probably a woman.

How do you know she is making her daughter marry? Also, many of us bbelieve in intelligent design. We are called Christians.

Are you still attacking Palin? Gay men are worse than women when it comes to being bitches.

We get it, you're not much of a man, and Palin REALLY makes you feel insecure. But you wouldn't be gay, if you didn't feel insecure in the first place.

Let it go.

LOL

Palin makes me want to be a better man!
