Happy Holidays!!!

I have a request of all you bloggers. I ask that for just one day, no one insults anyone or intentionally misconscrue facts in an attempt to assasinate someone's character.

When I read the postings, sometimes I want to hit DELETE for the entire blog. I am in total agreement with Horace. If you haven't jumped in to help out, then you have no say. Let's start 2008 intelligently.

Merry Christmas ... Happy Chanuka ... Merry Quanza ... Merry Hajh (??)

Who said the original post was Rister's?

The second post assumed it was Reister's. He's the one that should be busted for assuming facts not in evidence.

I'll say it again: I always welcome a rigorous discussion of the issues, and I have not deleted a single comment about Barack Obama. Indeed, last week, others criticized Obama on my blog. I did not and would not censor, delete, or edit their comments.

I'm not sure why it's important for you to dupe the readers of Cenla Antics. I've noticed that you have made similar accusations about Greg Aymond and his website, and he has consistently refuted you.

You're not really asking for a serious debate; you're asking for attention.

Congratulations.

In the meantime, considering your allegations about Obama:

1. "Alleged ties to terrorism." This was a story cooked up by 9/11 conspiracy theorist Webster Tarpley. Have you actually read his article? WST linked to it yesterday. It's absurd, and it proves absolutely nothing-- except that Obama knows Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter's national security adviser. Tarpley attempts to suggest that Zbigniew Brzezinski is somehow running Obama's campaign and crafting his message. Yet he offers no evidence or documentation. And he attempts to suggest that Zbigniew Brzezinski, who is Polish, is in cahoots with Chechen terrorist groups. It's yet another one of Tarpley's ridiculous and easily debunked conspiracy theories. I suppose you also believe that 9/11 was an inside job?

2. "His lack of administrative experience." What does that mean? His lack of management experience in the private sector? Mitt Romney is the only candidate with significant experience in the private sector. Do you believe we should only look toward candidates who come from the private sector? George W. Bush was the first President with a Masters in Business as well as significant "administrative experience" (I guess owning a baseball team counts), and, well, it's hard to argue that we've benefited from this "experience."

3."His illegal drug use." Are you speaking about the Larry Sinclair allegations being promoted by Ron Paul supporters? Or are you talking about Obama's admission of drug use as a young man in his memoir? Barack Obama cleaned up his act after college. Our current President didn't "grow up" until he was 40. And I also remind you that our current President has never denied using cocaine as a young man; he's careful to avoid the question.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_W._Bush_substance_abuse_controversy

4. Voting record, etc. You're going to have to be more specific.

5. "After Lamar White posted his tome anointing Barack Obama as the messiah destined to lead us into social utopia"

I have published no such "tome." I have written about Ron Paul supporters. I have written about the "Yes We Can" video. I have written about Mr. Obama's religious beliefs and the smear campaign being leveled against him. But I have not published any type of endorsement "tome."

6. "I guess the facts were too much for Lamar. He deleted my post.

I suspect this is the norm for Lamar in his personal as well as professional life. His “don’t confuse me with the facts” attitude is just fine for someone who is not in a position to influence public policy, however, Lamar is practicing this same philosophy while serving the public as a staff member to Mayor Jacques Roy, and getting paid by our tax dollars.

To say the least, I’m a bit uncomfortable with Lamar’s policy of silencing those that disagree with his socialistic views.

Which leads me to ask...Is Lamar being influenced by the underlying political philosophy of Jacques Roy? Or, is he whispering those socialistic views to our Mayor?"

The facts were not too much. I didn't delete your post. I have no problem discussing the issues with you.

I am not a socialist.

I speak for myself. Believe it or not, the Constitution of the United States provides me the ability to express my own opinion in our democracy. And no, I am not a classified employee.

Is this about debating the issues or is this about attempting to deceive people?

Anonymous said...

Lamar, let's get this straight, I'm not This Reister guy. However I do take issue with two things in your response.

"I am not a socialist."

Socialism is an economic system where the wealth of the masses is sublect to the control and distribution by a community or government.

By your writings, you are a socialist.

"And no, I am not a classified employee."

Classified or not, your income is derived from my tax dollars. For you to advance your socialistic goals through your employment, while I foot the bill, is offensive to me.

You sir, have no place at the policy making table as long as you refuse to acknowlege that the people's taxs are not to be used to further your special interest goals.

Anonymous said...

So you lied about making a comment about Barack Obama in order to bait me into admitting that I am secretly a socialist who is secretly making nefarious policy recommendations to our Mayor?

Pretty bold. Pretty disingenuous.

I understand what socialism is, and sir, I am not a socialist. I don't care what you think you've read into my writings. I am not a Friedman capitalist; I tend to subscribe to Keynes's notions. If you'd like to debate the differences between the two, I am more than happy.

And no, I do not advise anyone on economic policy; I am simply writing about my personal beliefs.

Anonymous said...

"I am simply writing about my personal beliefs."

And those writings, about your personal beliefs, strongly indicate your socialist views.

The only real interesting mystery is what, if anything, Lamar does for (to) the city - and he did assure his readers and fans on several occassions that he would not have any official position in the Roy administration. I marvel that someone so young would sell his credibility and reputation so cheaply.

Lamar and Aymond, this fool, or fools, is only trying to bait you. Unfortunately the more you respond the more it eggs him on. Some people do, others are jealous. We only read this blog for shock value, and few pay it any real attention.

Lamar...Keynes was a socialist who believed in using government funds to affect the economy.

Left to it's own devices, the marketplace is self correcting. True, there might be radical ups and downs when those corrections take place, however, like water, the marketplace seeks it's own level.

Keynes was an advocate of using taxpayer funds and governmental authority to influence those correction cycles with the eventual result of less severe swings.

Call this socialism-lite if you want, it's still extracting money from the masses, in the form of taxes, to be used by government to meddle in places they shouldn't.

I have no problem with government participating in the marketplace, but government should never seek to regulate the marketplace. Such regulation is socialism. By embracing Keynes, you embrace that regulation. By embracing Keynes you embrace socialism.

Price controls and minimum wages are always a bad idea. The market should dictate both.

"I have no problem with government participating in the marketplace, but government should never seek to regulate the marketplace."

So you want your cake and eat it too? A true free market economy mandates no government participation in the market place. Just as with any other investor wants to have a say so in the use of his investment, so can the government once it starts investing in private enterprise.

First, I never once told anyone that I wouldn't consider or accept a position with the Mayor. Someone keeps repeating this as if it's gospel truth. I said I was not promised and did not expect anything; there is a big difference.

Second, I prefer Keynes to the alternative. Chicago School Economics has been destroying countries across the world for nearly fifty years now: Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Poland, South Africa, and the former U.S.S.R.

Thankfully, the United States has been spared the major damages that Friedman economics has inflicted on other countries, because the U.S. has never adopted your notions of how the "market" should look. (Although the current administration contains many Friedman disciples).

You can call it "socialism-lite," but it's still not socialism; it's understanding, as Orwell did, that unmitigated, unregulated capitalism leads toward unmitigated, unregulated monopolies (or oligopolies), leading to dramatic spikes in unemployment and inflation (and fine, don't believe me, but they've practiced what you preach in many countries across the world... and it always leads to the same results).

And I think it's important to understand what is actually meant by government investment and regulation; we're not talking about the government assuming all control over business and the private sector.

But look what happens in country after country when things like price controls are eliminated: Suddenly, people can't afford to put bread on their tables.

Again, thankfully, we do not live in the country you describe. Should we also assume, then, that George W. Bush is a "socialist?" He's called for government intervention in the economy numerous times.

Anyway, I appreciate the discourse; it's complicated, and it's impossible to compress into a single blog entry.

Wow, I am enjoying the discussion of economics. Much more interesting than talking trash against one another.

Can I change the current debate to ask if anyone has recently had trouble with billing for services provided at Christus St. Francis Hospital? I had some lab tests done in November and a regular doctor visit in January. Chritus Medical Services has sent me a bill, not a statement, for each visit. Each bill indicates that the amount shown as due is the amount I owe after any payments by my insurance company. Trouble is, Christus Medical Services has not yet billed my insurance company. I called Christus Medical Services yesterday and got four different explanations from the customer service representative. None of her explanations held water and she did not appreciate me pointing out this to her. Does anyone remember when Cabrini Hospital would have a collection agency send a demanding letter even before they would send a bill? Appears Cabrini is up to it's old schemes again. Is this how Cabrini plans to pay for it's expansion?

"So you want your cake and eat it too? A true free market economy mandates no government participation in the market place."

WRONG!!

By participation do you mean that government should be absent from the marketplace? How foolish.

Although it is true that government does not produce, government must still consume.
(in other words they buy stuff)

And by consuming, they participate.

In this respect, participation is desired. However government should never use it's powers to REGULATE.

Anonymous said...

So, we should pay taxes to a government whose only responsibility is to purchase products?

After all the comments and discussion, I can't believe that someone could be soooooo stupid!

This guy:

Has to be a moron!

NO STUPID!

The poster said that government's only participation in the MARKETPLACE shoud be as a consumer, Since they PRODUCE nothing.

They should not regulate.

Anonymous said...

Some government regulations, but only to the extent absolutely necessary, is necessary to bring big business under control, such as Republican Teddy's Roosevelt's monopoly busting, and to guard against unsafe products or working conditions. But otherwise, no the government should allow the free market to operate on its own.

But allowing the free market to operate, also means no business incentive give aways to big business by governments.

And you don't have to call someone a moron simply because they hold a differebt opinion that you. Perhaps you are the moron?

Sorry for the cut and paste, but I find it interesting that this appears on http://www.centrallapolitics.blogspot.com/
when some were pondering when someone may go off at one of Alexandria's city council meetings. I think I will stick to channel 4 for a while.

The Sheriff ’s Department of The Kingdom of Hawaii has made several attempts by phone and e-mail since early in the month of January 2008 to contact Chuck Johnson, City Attorney. Chuck Johnson has been called several times and was given several messages. The last message that was sent to Johnson, Jacques Roy and Greg Upton I intend to post in a few days on this forum. These men, I can prove, are usurping power and intentionally being dishonest in order to deny the boat owners justice through due process of the law by refusing to conduct a basic investigation. With my Constitutional rights being denied why would anybody put the boat back in the water? So it can be sunk again? These men have been allowed to break the law and use the court to cheat people for so long that they believe there is no man on earth that can stop them. I am here to tell you, they are wrong.

I now know why the Lord has brought me to these Hawaiian Islands and I can assure you that the man who left is not the one who is writing to you now. I want to thank everybody for their prayers and support. The good Lord knows I need it. I want to apologize for the manner in which I felt it necessary to take on my previous political campaign but if I have to put on a clown nose and dance around for you all in order to bring attention to the children hurt and the families that are being destroyed by these men and the good ol ’ boy mafia, in which they are involved in or too weak to stop, then the line has been drawn.

I took on the blunt of the expenses of my election campaign myself. I spent less than $500.00 on my entire campaign. That was less than 0.45 per vote. Chuck Wagner spent over $23.00 per vote and Mike Slocum spent over $30.00 per vote. This was my fight as a matter of honor and family responsibility for the Parish in which my ancestors were the founding fathers. My descendants also include Princesses to the Native American Nations that inhabited Rapides Parish and the surrounding Parishes throughout the state. Anyone who does not believe that I have the right to stand up and fight for this land and the people in it does not understand who I am or the blood that runs through me.

I Robert C. Tanner, The Deputy Sheriff of The Kingdom of Hawaii, because of the publicly recognized abandonment by the owners of the rights to the Downtown Alexandria Main Street Boat Docks, Address 202 Main Street in Downtown Alexandria, Louisiana, also known as the Downtown Alexandria Main Street Boat Docks, do hereby publicly claim my aboriginal rights to rights and titles of all of the boat dock lots in the Downtown area listed under these Main Street addresses as evidenced by the Alexandria City Electrical Company and the Federal United States Post Office. I do at this time rename the Downtown Alexandria Main Street Boat Docks as The Maxwell Main Street Boat Docks.

I took on this fight whether anyone wanted to help or not. Let me promise you I have no intention of letting go unti

Dear Governor Bobby Jindal,

Good Afternoon, Sir. I would like to first congratulate you on your recent election as Governor for the state of Louisiana. I am sure you will do a great job. If you ever need a man’s help who sincerely loves the state of Louisiana and the people in it please feel free to call on me.

Even though I ran as a Republican I have yet to receive a letter of support from President Bush. I understand it’s probably misplaced with my Christmas invitation to the Crawford Ranch in Texas. I’ll hold my breath for them.

In all seriousness, I ran a very successful campaign for Deputy Sheriff of Rapides Parish. Although I did not win the election I was able to accomplish what I had hoped to do. That was to enlighten people to the improper actions that the previous Sheriff had been involved in.

When I got into the race two months before the election, Major Mike Slocum with Sheriff Hilton’s endorsement and heavily funded campaign ads, was favored to win by 69%. I have put my life on the line to reveal the truth about Sheriff Hilton. He was arrested in Mexico, along with Glenn DeSoto, for cocaine trafficking and solicitation of prostitution. He was also investigated for three years and arrested, had property seized and fines levied by the Alaskan Fund for the illegal hunting and killing of moose. None of these had been brought to light by the news organizations, The Daily Town Talk or KALB.

I’ve had several attempts to take my life during the election as well as afterwards. It has forced me to have to move to Hawaii for my own safety. I am okay with this because I believed I was successful in keeping this drug dealing organization from re-winning the highest law office in our Parish. Tragically, I have found out with the revelations of Sheriff Hilton’s own statements that I was not as successful as I had assumed.

Here are the incriminating statements made directly by Sheriff Hilton. This man, by his own admission, has illegally negotiated from day one to allow the Slocum and Wagner campaign to work together while being employed and improperly funded by the Parish through the Sheriff’s Department.

He has had this corrupt power for so long that he states publicly without hesitation or fear of reprisal by you or anyone else that he and the newly elected Sheriff and family had conspired and subverted the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s election in order to continue their corrupt practices.

I ask for you to not only investigate these direct charges that I have made and that Sheriff Hilton has verbally and publicly verified, but to also find out where Chuck Wagner received his funding to run for Deputy Sheriff of Rapides Parish.

There is an ancient Chinese proverb that warns to beware of what you wish for. You publicly announced that you were no longer going to stand for the corrupt practices that have been destroying our beautiful state. Please understand that without personally knowing you or knowing anything negative about you to show me otherwise I will take this as your sincere pledge and as a personal promise to me and the citizens of Rapides Parish. I have now delivered to you all information needed to have the right to begin investigating these corrupt practices.

KALB Video Interview
Rapides Parish Sheriff Hilton Responds to Threat Allegation

Hilton: Ronnie Wagner is Chuck Wagner’s brother. He is a Captain in our Detective’s office. Ronnie and I talked early on in this campaign but I’m sure that he is promoting his brother like he should be. I don’t know what hours and times of the day. You know it would be hard for my brother to be running and if I saw somebody I thought he could get a vote from and ask them regardless of what time of the day it was. Whether it was on duty or off.

(Q: Does this mean that during their meeting there was a negotiation that allows Ronnie Wagner to work while on duty for his brother Chuck Wagner? The Sheriff through this quote says that he has no reason to care whether or not Ronnie breaks the law to help Chuck Wagner’s campaign.)

Hilton: Now I was a little disappointed in Herman Walters. I talked to Herman several times about this race. Herman is a nervous type person, he’s scared, he’s paranoid.

(Q: What does he believe Herman has to be nervous and paranoid of?)

Hilton: I met with him one Sunday morning at Leven’s Grocery in Gardener and he told me some things that were totally ridiculous about things he was imagining were happening that wasn’t happening and he was even talking about retiring. I told Herman don’t do that, just stay the course.

(Q: What course had been set between the Wagner’s campaign and Slocum’s campaign?)

Hilton: Stay with this until this is over with and everything is going to be all right. Just like I told Ronnie Wagner day one.

(Q: Does that sound like two people conspiring to break the law to you as well?)

Hilton: I said Ronnie if Chuck prevails Slocum supporters are going to need a job. If Slocum wins Wagner supporters are going to need a job.

(Q: Does this sound as bad to you as it does to me? Sheriff Hilton openly admits that from day one he helped to negotiate terms between the Slocum and the Wagner camp. That they would make a dual campaign working together so that no matter who won the corrupt Sheriff’s department and the men that are protecting it would remain in power and influence together.)

Hilton: There’s no need in building enemies behind a campaign like this.

(Q: What kind of campaign exactly is this? A campaign where the two front-runners work together on Parish paid time to win an election through corruption?)

Hilton: If Wagner gets elected he and I are going to sit in a room and we are going to talk about employees and we’re going to talk about positions and we gonna talk about things like that.

(Q: Is this part of the negotiations that Sheriff Hilton stated he and Ronnie Wagner had previously negotiated?)

Hilton: If he comes in there with I’m gonna fire this one, I’m gonna move this one and all, the transition is not going to be as smooth.

(Q: Is this a threat to the Wagner camp to uphold the deal made between them?)

Godard: So the report that individuals have been promised jobs are false?

Hilton: I don’t know a thing about it. None whatsoever.

(Quote: “Just like I told Ronnie Wagner day one. I said Ronnie if Chuck prevails Slocum supporters are going to need a job. If Slocum wins Wagner supporters are going to need a job”. Somebody is lying.)

Hilton: But you don’t get elected without promising jobs. I’m sure Wagner has promised jobs, matter of fact I know some state troopers that he has promised jobs to.

(I don’t think the Sheriff is lying in this statement, but he did say that neither one of them he thinks could be elected without some form of corruption.)

Godard: Let’s go back to the intimidation of the individuals that I interviewed felt. And I don’t mind telling you as a reporter and as a news organization there was intimidation that was definitely put upon this news organization for sure. I think what it was, was you know, how could you do this and that was said on many occasions on Friday. In fact the candidate that you supported specifically said, "that if you run this story and I win, which I will win, this news department will only receive information through a lawyer from that point on".

(This shows that the Sheriff’s Department’s candidate and the people involved on the course they have chosen believe that they have the power to threaten and intimidate a news organization. What do you believe they would do to anyone else who tries to bring the truth out? Do you think there would be repercussions afterward?)

Godard: Are you absolutely certain that in your Sheriff’s department nobody has used the public time to campaign for the Sheriff’s office?

Hilton: We have not because we have dealt with this once before.

(Quote: “Ronnie and I talked early on in this campaign but I’m sure that he is promoting his brother like he should be. I don’t know what hours and times of the day. You know it would be hard for my brother to be running and if I saw somebody I thought he could get a vote from and ask them regardless of what time of the day it was. Whether it was on duty or off.”)

Hilton: Way back June or July of last year on allegations of misuse or some bar-b-que pits employee’s time bar-b-queing for a Slocum function at my camp. But we were exonerated on it because nothing happened. That did not happen. So I don’t want anything to go before that Ethics Board again.

(Q: How far is he willing to go to keep anything from going to the Ethics Board?)

Hilton: So we tried and I’ve tried to keep our employees on focus for the department and do their campaign after hours and so far it’s been like that.

Hilton: I know people who are working for Wagner.

Godard: Do you think they’re using public time to do it.

Hilton: If they did I would deal with it. But I don’t really think that they are.

Godard: There hasn’t been an internal investigation?

(Q: Can the people of Rapides Parish, after reading the quotes of Sheriff Hilton, be confident in an investigation headed up by this man?)

Hilton: I’m not saying that uh, that uh they are not working on public time but I don’t know about it. That they’re not campaigning on public time.

(Quote: "That uh, that uh" says it all. If this is not a statement that screams that there is an external investigation needed then I don’t know what is.)

http://www.kalb.com/index.php/news/article/rapides-parish-sheriff-hilton-responds-to-threat-allegation/1365/

(Q: Where did Chuck Wagner get the finances to run for Sheriff? If it was the Roy family as reported then that ties the Mayor of the city in with this conspiracy to subvert the Rapides Parish Sheriff's election since old man Slocum was one of Jacques Roy largest financial campaign supporters. Now you see how they are all tied in together.)

Governor Jendal, the city of Alexandria illegally turned off the electricity to my houseboat in which I was living on. The City Police, City Council and the Mayor have all refused to investigate the malicious and criminal sinking of my houseboat and the houseboat known as the Southern Comfort. There were five witnesses to the fact that three men did board the Southern Comfort and sunk it, along with severely damaging my houseboat. Now with the assistance of The Daily Town Talk they are manipulating the people of Alexandria to believe that we are just derelict owners and that it is the city’s duty to remove our property and steal our land. The city had established my houseboat residence over thirty years ago. They continue to refuse to recognize my address and they intend to deny me my aboriginal right and insurable interest to my property by refusing to take the proper measures of going to a Federal Court.

They are now attempting, through improper court procedures, to force me to come back to Rapides Parish on February 25, 2008 to sue me over a boat I no longer own but is on my property. I believe at this time the powers involved will make another attempt on my life.

You are the person God has placed in charge of keeping the citizens of the state of Louisiana safe from this type of corruption. I am going to put this letter up for public viewing on The Daily Town Talk for review and evidence to the fact that I have alerted you of this atrocious situation.

I pray that God blesses you and your family greatly. That he bestows upon you the spirit of knowledge in order for you to know what is needed to be done, the spirit of wisdom to know when it should be done, the spirit of might to give you the power over and beyond what is needed, and the spirit of reverence so that you will always be confident that you understand and are following the Lord’s will.

Judging from the article in today's Town Talk (February 20, 2008,) our new sheriff is a master of verbal gobbledygook. When questioned about Heath Crawford's employment with the Sheriff's Department, Chuck Wagner offered no real information with his answer. Rather, he rambled on about his (Wagner) having a job.

Well, duh! We elected Mr. Wagner as sheriff and he has been sworn in. So I am going to take a wild guess and say "Yes, Mr. Wagner does have a job."

But the status of Mr. Wagner's employment was not the question. Mr. Crawford's employment with the Sheriff's Department was the subject of the question.

I would suggest Mr. Wagner quit playing games and give clear, truthful answers. Otherwise, Mr. Wagner could easily have some competition four years hence.

Anonymous said...

The funny thing is, he ran on the fact that he has a college education, and he his media release "Sheriff Wagner stated, Mr. Crawford was looking for a job, we were discussing a job but Mr. Crawford did not have a job. I, on the other hand, do have a job and I intend to continue to do my job.", is about the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. When I heard it on the news last night, I thought maybe they had spoken on the phone with him and it was an off-guard answer. But no!! This was issued in a media release! This man is an idiot.

Anonymous said...

Anyone out there remember Watergate? If Richard Nixon had been honest from the get-go, the Watergate scandal would have been but a small footnote to history. Sheriff Wagner needs to review the Watergate history and act accordingly. If dishonesty could bring down the president of the United State, the same could easily happen to a sheriff in a back-water parish in Louisiana.

Anonymous said...

Not to worry about a Watergate type scandal here in our little "backwater parish"! President Nixon was brought down by some great investigative journalists/reporters! Can you picture someone from Kalb-TV or the Alexandria Town Talk doing a hard hitting investigation? Michelle Godard as an ace reporter? What a joke! Our local reporters won't even take on the Alexandria City Council, much less take on the Sheriff!

Anonymous said...

The hardest news KALB-TV gives out is the school lunch menu each day. And talk about reporting the same story for several days! I would rather watch commercials than KALB-TV news.

Anonymous said...

Wagners reaction and his handling of this shows he needs someone to handle the media. Just not some wet behind the ears kid who doesn't know his butt from third base.

I have no doubt that Wagner can handle the law enforcement side of being sheriff, it's the political side that is going to eat his lunch.

He needs to find an old political hand with a few grey hairs to keep the yapping dogs at bay.

Anonymous said...

"I have no doubt that Wagner can handle the law enforcement side of being sheriff, it's the political side that is going to eat his lunch."

The only reason Wagner won the election is because of dirty politics!! That boy doesn't know his ass from his ears. He has no clue how to supervise 500 employees; he's never managed a single person!! His handling of this fiasco, and his flat out lying to the public proves just that.

Anonymous said...

I think the Heath Crawford story has been overdone by The Town Talk. It's a really simple story that should have been reported for one day, period. The sheriff was going to hire Crawford but he found out the hard way that the guy has extremely poor judgement and is obviously not qualified for the job. The sheriff has changed his mind and is not going to hire Crawford. (I certainly think the Sheriff is doing the right thing.) Crawford was never on the payroll--it hadn't gotten that far. The Sheriff, his staff, the taxpayers and the media, have been saved from having to put up with this guy in the future. It's better to have found out now rather than later that this idiot didn't have the necessary experience to do the job properly.

Just because Crawford worked in the media and in film, doesn't mean he knew how to be the CIO for a public official. That job, folks, requires a totally different set of skills. Not saying he did, but even if Sheriff Wagner told the guy to send out a news release stating the new policy, this Crawford idiot should have strongly advised against it at this time. Then, if the Sheriff still insisted, he could have written it sooo much better-- without all of the menacing language and threats. There are ways to institute a new media policy that would not have caused this kind of reaction. This Crawford dude was in over his head. I am a PR person and I would have NEVER encouraged my boss do this. I would have made a case for why this was a bad idea. I would have strongly suggested an alternate course of action regarding the new media policy. Furthermore, Crawford has now made the story about HIM, another no no for a good media relations person.

I sincerely hope this Crawford guy is sent packing from Alexandria. I cannot believe anyone would want to hire him after this. With a public relations person like him, who needs enemies?

Anonymous said...

Sounds as if the previous poster is offering a resume to work for Sheriff Wagner as CIO.

If Crawford was such an idiot, why did Wagner even consider him for the job? I don't think Sheriff Wagner is as innocent in all of this as the previous poster states. Sheriff Wagner had two chances to clariy the circumstances and he flubbed both.

And why should Crawford leave the area? Is he such a threat to Wagner?

To anon who said the only people who care about this are angry employees of the rpso: I care about this, and I have never been, and never will be, employed with the RPSO or any other public agency.

I happen to care about this because Wagner lied and got caught. He lied about Crawford's employment, he lied about knowledge of notifications Crawford released to the media, and he lied when he recanted his media policy. Last week, he knew exactly what had been sent to the media; as a matter of fact Wagner attempted to defend the policy at that time. I guess he thought it would all go away over the weekend, but it escalated rightfully so. Instead of being straight-forward, he lied. That does not indicate a strong character, but it does indicate a weak, poor leader with no prior experience. I'm sorry, but I don't want his lack of experience to come into play if something more serious happens down the road.

Anonymous said...

"...It should be obvious Heath tried to show everyone how big his set of balls are and he got castrated in the processes."

Heath was a sandlot player that thought he could swing with the big boys. His downfall was as much due to the Town Talk's reaction to his stupid media policy e-mail as it was due to Darryll Guillory's firing of him for his blunder.

"...And I will continue to post my thoughts regarding Wagner, Jacques Roy, the Alexandria City Council, or any other elected official. If they can't take the heat, then they should follow the advice to get out of the kitchen."

Wagner got caught lying. Period. Plain and Simple.

I don't think that will keep him from being Sheriff.

What he does from this moment on will define what he is made of.

Look, I voted for and supported Slocum, but Slocum lost. Fucking Bummer....

BUT, we have Wagner for at least the next 4 years. Lets see what he does after he gets in office and has a chance to get acclimated. Who knows.

Anonymous said...

"This is very simple.
Wagner got caught lying. Period. Plain and Simple."

Let's be precise here. Just what did Wagner lie about? What exactally did he say that was a lie?

So far, no body has come up with a quote, or near quote, that is a lie.

All we have so far is Crawford's version of what Wagner said. We also have some e-mails and phone records that indicate that Crawford sent out a notice of Wagner's swearing ceremony two days before the event took place.

I'm not picking on any one blogger posting here, I'm just asking.

I have listened to every interview and read every report. I have not heard the lie that everyone says Wagner uttered.

So...where is his lie?

Anonymous said...

Here is the lie:

From the Town Talk Timeline: Wagner did not dispute Crawford’s status as director of public affairs when questioned about the e-mail Crawford had sent. Instead, Wagner reaffirmed that the media should call Crawford’s office first on all inquiries.

That proves that his statement that Crawford was never hired was a lie.

Anonymous said...

Which lie are you talking about?

#1 Crawford was never hired?

#2 All media requests should go through Crawford's office?

#3 He did not approve the policy sent out by Crawford?

#4 The policy that Crawford sent out was the "consistent message" that the dept. would follow?

#5 No retired RPSO or state employees were being promised jobs?

#6 That he was able of doing the job?

#7 That his dept. would be open and transparent (including the last 5 days that he refuses to return TT phone calls)?

#8 That Crawford was "part of the team"?

#9 Robinson and his people weren't promised anything for their support?

I numbered them because there's been so many, I was starting to lose count.

I'll stop now, but remember this, whenever Wagner tells you something, always get it in writing...Crawford didn't and look what happened to him.

I hope he sues.

Anonymous said...

Our choice was not exactly between Wagner or Elliot Ness. Everyone has to agree that, of the choices we had in the general election, we voted in the right guy. If Wagner does nothing but put his new chief deputy in charge and goes to the house, he has done the cause of law enforcement a great service. Guillory is an ace.

Anonymous said...

Plus, it was time for a change. Let's just call this one a blunder and move on. The man isn't perfect just because he's the Sheriff.

Anonymous said...

It is true that nobody is perfect. But anybody can keep from telling lies to the public.

Anonymous said...

"Lies" is a little strong. It's a huge organization with many different facets and it was during the first 24 - 48 hours of the change over. There was obviously some confusion and some organizational problems and now they seem to be resolved. If Wagner makes the progressive changes that he is trying to implement, we can forgive him for this brief PF fart.

He has tried to sue Rich Dupree, The City of Pineville, City of Alexandria etc., etc., etc...and has lost at every turn. He says Jimmy Faircloth is a man un-educated as to the law yet Faircloth is Executive Council to the Governor while tubby little Greg practices out of the rear of a plumbing shop.

And to top it off, he has been in a running battle with this pinhead J.Reister guy, who isn't a lawyer and Aymond is afraid to debate him. Aymond keeps deleting Reister's posts to his blog and runs away and hides whenever Reister says his name.

Aymond is dumb as a box of hammers, the laughing stock of the Alexandria/Pineville Bar, and is considered a general leper by everyone, even his own wife. His kids hate him, his dog pisses on his leg, and he needs a bath...badly.

"Aymond has the best and most current info of Cenla."

No, the sites that he uses for his source material do. Aymond just cuts and pastes everyone else’s work…then ads his twisted comments.

"I check him out throughout the day and feel like I am kept informed and aware."

If you are informed and made aware by Aymond than you must be pitifully ignorant. I feel sorry for you.

"I, like many of you, do not agree with his viewpoint, but he obviously has thought about it and can justify it in his own mind."

Sure! And prisons are full of people who can justify their actions in their own mind. So is history. Ever heard of Hitler, Sadam, Nixon, and even our own Kathleen Blanco?

"I can understand how many of us could strongly disagree with his positions but those of you who rail against him personally and pour on the insults are probably gored oxen and it shows."

Gored Oxen???? Aymond has yet to win any legal action he has initiated against anyone locally. So I ask…who has he gored? It is common knowlege among the 9th JDC Judges that Aymond is a kook.

"In other words, you confirm Aymond's allegations about your character and intelligence. Try the high road for a change."

When it comes to Aymond there is no taking the high road. Aymond is a slimy bottom feeder who must be exposed for what he is.

Anonymous said...

Dear Gored Ox,
If you observed the Alexandria City Council being lectured by the attorney general and DA on conforming to the open meetings law, then you have to credit Aymond. Wagner made campaign promises and broke them. To atone for those broken promises, he scraped the bottom of the barrel at RPSO and stuck these losers in positions of authority. The result will be a mass exodus of skilled professionals.

What will be left is a department manned by rookies and rent-a-cops.

For the next 4 years the drug dealers, criminals, and scumbags of society will have a field day in Rapides Parish.

Meanwhile id you're a FOC, (Friend Of Chuck) you'll get a pass on anything you want to do.

I think the dates for tests are set several years in advance. Daylight Savings Time was changed by several weeks. The tests have to be taken in March so results are back before school gets out.

The article in today’s fish wrap is interesting, but as usual, poorly written.

Katrina Donica needs to brush up on her English skills if she wants to be better understood.

I say, why not? Since the Police Jury in 1967 was too stupid to write a tax call that takes in ALL of Rapides Parish, why not correct their errors now? When the tax money rolls in, it should be divided based on the most current assessment of the population of the parish.

Since this proposal is not a request for a new tax I ask...Why not re-cut the pie to reflect the population shifts that have occurred since 1967? Why not use current data? Why not come into the sunshine of 2008?

Looks to me like the 6 new members of the Police Jury are trying to do the right thing for a change instead of hanging on to the past.

After 40 years...we might want to take a second look, don’t you think?

Saw this in the advocate:

"Roy, D-Alexandria, voted against Jindal’s spending ceiling legislation.

During a luncheon at the Governor’s Mansion later that day, Jones said, he and Roy were served a cracker while other legislators got jambalaya.

Jones said that after everyone had a good laugh, he and Roy eventually got jambalaya."

Great, you guys elected a guy that's already made enemies with the governor. Now that takes the cake. It'll be a lng 4 years.

Thank God, we elected Hazel over here.

Anonymous said...

No thank God that we over here elected a Representative that serves us and doesn't blindly take whatever Jindal proposes hook line and sinker.

If the Legislature was just supposed to rubber stamp everything the governor wants, we wouldn't need a Legislature.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if our local media will pick up on the Roy/Jindal thing?

And to the previous poster, do you realize how much money was on the table for Roy's dist? And he voted against it? And you think that's a good move?

The money is already there, it will be spent, but Roy wants to piss off the new governor. Yeah, that's a bold move. LOL

All is proves was Roy was elected as a Dem first, and a representative second. Wonder if he's supoorter Hilary or Obama?

Anonymous said...

If Jindal is "pissed" by Chris Roy's vote, then he has some serious ego issues. You folks love making mountains out of molehills.

Anonymous said...

Bottom line is this...Both MCPherson and Roy are dumbasses. They voted against busting the cap...so what was the legislature gonna do, just leave the money there?
No, both our dumbshits wanted to spend the money on the expansion of government....

What a pair they are...dumb and dumber

Anonymous said...

One of the biggest things listed in the Governor's package (that Roy was trying to keep from getting funded) was the completion of Hwy 28 West. He ran on trying to have this completed...the last phase that needed funding was on the table and this guy voted against it. Jindal must have thought..."What an idot!"

Anonymous said...

what's the big secret about chuck fowler's illness? is he in a mental hosp. or rehab. or something?

Anonymous said...

Speaking of idiots, cite me the bill which Roy voted against Hwy. 28. He did exercise more fiscal conservativism than most of the so-called fiscal conservative Republicans, and voted against busting the spending cap.

Anonymous said...

You bonehead Roy and McPherson kool-aid drinkers don’t have a clue as to the real reason that Dumb and Dumber voted no on busting the spending cap.

If the cap had stayed in place, more than a BILLION dollars would have been in the hands of special interest spenders in the REGULAR session that is about to convene.

By voting to bust the cap, and spend this one time money on one time projects, Jindal prevented the good old boys from getting their grubby little Stelly supporting fingers on the one time money.

Which would you rather have? Decent highways, coastal reconstruction, upgrades to our ports and rural roads that are free of potholes...or more goat roping arenas and lawnmower racing tracks?

McPherson is the last of the "good old boys" from our area. Looks like to me he’s teaching Lil’ Chris how to be a proper corrupt politician. Shouldn’t be hard though...Big Chris stole millions during the Edwards era.

Anonymous said...

You baffoon, Roy and McPherson didn't vote against HWY 28, and a no vote on busting the spending cap wouldn't stop the Hwy 28 project. It would just make the state do what people do everyday, prioritize their projects and work within a certain amount of money.

Yes! their vote was against completing Hwy 28. How were they going to build it? With donations?

Quit being an apologist. They showed their Ass and got bit.

Say what yall will about a vote for Hwy 28 or a vote against Hwy 28...It don't matter Now! The bill passed and 28 is gonna get 4 laned!

What does matter is that Lil' Chris shot hisself in the ass when he voted against the Governor's agenda.

Now, stupid ass Chris has made hisself an enemy in Governor Jindal.

In a throwdown between Jindal and Lil' Chris, I'll take the Governor anytime. He's got a hellava lot more experience and brains than stupid ass Lil' Chris will ever had.

And besides, Greg Aymond says Chis Roy did the right thing, so that should be the end of it, right there!

And don't give me any of that BS about Aymond siding with Chris because Jindal's got a tan!

Greg's above all that!

Anonymous said...

Aymond supported Jindal's election on his blog, so your race baiting bullshit makes little sense.

Wagner is making some needed changes in the department; however, he's breaking a lot of promises and crippling the ability of the department to carry out their mission.

In the end, the people if this parish will see that Hilton was an amateur in comparison to Wagner when it comes to political favors and misuse of department resources.

The truth about Chuck will slowly ooze out over the next few months, and the people of this parish will realize that they have been lied to.

I get the same feeling about the Roy bros.

Jacques got into a fight with the council and has done nothing else (CLECO, Bentley, fast track?)

And Chris gets into with the gov. by voting against funding Hwy 28, which he campaigned on.

We got a group of guys that say one thing, and do the opposite. God forbid we let this crew effect the DAs race.

Anonymous said...

What you are seeing is the MO of the "Menard Mafia."

They have learned well the tactics of shiftless political operatives, that is: "Say and do ANYTHING to get elected and once in office, screw the voters."

They are counting on the short memory of the voters, thinking we will forget their poor management over the course of their 4 year term.

However, this concept will prove faulty in the age of bloggers and YouTube.

Digital is forever.

Anonymous said...

I would love to see the "Cracker campaign" in 4 years. Whoever runs against Roy should give out crackers to all the voters reminding them of the Roy - Hwy 28 vote. LOL

The "cracker campaign" would also work against his mayor brother for an entirely different response.

What's gonna be fun is watchin' all those youngsters make a mess of things. Like Romper Room, they stumble around throwin their toys and cryin' when they don't get their way.

Think Lil Chris was bad? Voting against fixin' Hwy 28? Wait till you see the temper tantrum his brother Jackie is gonna throw when he finds out the voters of this parish are gonna take 5 million dollars away from 'em!

They're all the same. The Roy boys. Lil Chuckie Wagner, and that Hazel kid. These kids approach leadership thinkin' that the public OWES them somethin'.

The public owes them nothin'. They owe us! And they have a sworn duty to SERVE us!

And when they make a mess of things, it will be US that throws them out of office, cleans up the mess, and learns a little lesson about belivin' slick campaign talk.

We elected Chuck Wagner overwhelmingly over the well funded encumbant because we were tired of the same old bullshit left over from the Grady Kelly days. Enough paid preachers, enough paid worthless councilmen, enough with the untrained unqualified deputies kept on for politics. Wagner is doing exactly what we hired him to do. We will finally end up with a professional law enforcement agency instead of political employment agency.

1). We must have voted for a liar then.

2). Same politica; employment agency, just a different set of employees.

Grass Roots Gus said...

"We will finally end up with a professional law enforcement agency instead of political employment agency."

Seems to me that Lil Chuckie has placed or promoted the unqualified to fill positions that the qualified once held!

With the exception of Darrell Guillory, each department head is a political pay-off for supporting Lil Chuckie during the election.

He even CREATED a position so he could have some place to park the laughing stock of the department, Herman Walters. This guy earned his nickname because he claimes to have once been abducted by aliens and flown in their spaceship. Old "Youffo" was also the ringleader in the Channel 5 hit piece affair.

Take a close look at the department heads. Each one of them has NO EXPERIENCE for the position they hold...

No my friend, as long as the drug salesman is Sheriff, we'll never have a "professional" law enforcement agency in Rapides Parish.

Wow gus, it is a good thing you signed up as a blogger and voiced your opinion. That is what this blog has been missing.

This discussion ends up being a circle jerk between those who wanted change and those who didn't. The change folks won and we're getting what we voted for.

You all sound like Debbie Hickman's fan club. Good fucking riddance.

Oh my, someone from Menard showed up to defend their boys. Let's see you're not republican because ole Chris showed his A** to the republican governor. You're not black because Jacques keeps suing you. You're not a Robinson/Slocum supporter because you've been lied to. That doesn't leave much else?

Do you realize how slim your support is getting. You'll find out when the next elections roll around.

Anonymous said...

Wrong. Didn't go to Menard or even attend secondary school in this State. I did vote for and support the current sheriff of Rapides Parish and he won by an impressive margin. The only thing left for you to do is whine and you are showing some talent for that.

Go Chuck!

Anonymous said...

Wow Whiner! You didn't come out very well in that exchange. Give it another shot.

Anonymous said...

"he won by an impressive margin."

Not sure if I'm happy that you went out of state to school, or just covering that you are indeed from Menard, but if you thought a 1,300 vote win out of 36,000 votes is impressive, you're math skills need MUCH work.

And the only thing left for me to do is wait for the next election. Many folks that voted for the Menard Mafia are disappointed, including me!

Anonymous said...

"he won by an impressive margin."

I laughed out loud when I read that. My wife thought I was nuts. I must have laughed really hard, but it now appears whiner can hold his own.

Grass Roots Gus said...

"...even attend secondary school in this State."

Hmmmmm looks to me like those out of state boys are easily impressed. Anybody who cut his teeth on Louisiana politics knows that a 1,300 vote margin can be bought with a few boxes of fried chicken and a case of cheap wine.

Anonymous said...

" Anybody who cut his teeth on Louisiana politics knows that a 1,300 vote margin can be bought with a few boxes of fried chicken and a case of cheap wine."

By Slocum's own account, he spent more than $750,000 losing the election ( 3 times the Wagner expenditure). That's a lot of chicken wings and Gallo.

"City Council Sees Design of Water Spray Parks"

What a great fucking idea!

Is there anyway to incorporate soap into these sprayers?????????

Grass Roots Gus said...

Spendin’ money on water fountains is another example of our city council squanderin’ our tax dollars. Right now Alexandria gets 45 million dollars a year in sales tax revenue. The paper says that they’ll need at least 15 million dollars to fix the water system so we all don’t get sick from dirty water.

Now we hear this girl Lisa Harris tell the media that the council is gonna’ blow money on water sprayers?

No wonder the Police Jury wants to take some of their money back from these deadheads. I hope the parish sales tax does get redistributed, and Alexandria is cut out completely.

And one more thing. How much is the city paying this little girl, Lisa Harris, to ride herd over the BBQ party, water parks, downtown concerts, and all the other worthless projects that Mayor Roy wastes our money on?

Anonymous said...

Gus said: How much is the city paying this little girl, Lisa Harris, to ride herd over the BBQ party, water parks, downtown concerts, and all the other worthless projects that Mayor Roy wastes our money on?

Doesn't the City Council share some of the blame?

"Doesn't the City Council share some of the blame?"

Read the first paragraph you idiot....

Anonymous said...

OK, I'm getting sick of Flynn and his cronies. Mayor Roy picking fights with the black council, and to appease them wants to spend $400,000 on water parks (only in certain areas of town), his doofus brother voting against funding Hwy 28 and getting Jindal mad in the process, and Barney Fife buying new uniforms, painting cars, and doling out money to his supporters. And both Barney and the mayor cutting people loose before their retirement.

How in the hell did voters let this happen?

Jindal said he would be eliminating wasteful spending and reducing the size of the budget and then he gets in and what does he do? He spends ONE BILLION DOLLARS more than Blanco did last year.

Hypocrites. All of you.

You try to make this about 28 when all of you damn well know this is about Jindal lying to us about reducing the real wasteful spending in this state.

Grass Roots Gus said...

"Fuck you and your crybaby friends. We won and you lost. Put your name on the ballot in 4 years and see if we love you."

Son... Daddy always told me not to let your mouth overload your butt. Right now your mouth is runnin’ overtime.

Any 5th grader knows that the "Menard Mafia" candidates won because they had no prior public record. They could shoot at the other candidate but their opponent didn’t have any ammo to return fire with.

In four years, there will be a whole new flock of chickens in the yard. The “Menard Mafia” will have a track record and from the looks of things... it won’t be good.

The Roy boys and Lil’ Chuckie are steady handin’ out ammo and their political enemies are stock piling plenty.

And to this poor, guy: Wednesday, March 26, 2008 11:53:00 AM

Boy??? When you’re deer huntin’, it’s best not to shoot at the cows. Nuther words, know your target before ya pull the trigger.

We’re in the 2007-08 budget year right now. A budget that Blanco proposed and signed. Jindal’s budget ain’t been passed yet because it will be proposed in the next regular session. What you might be talking about is the one time budget surplus that we got from the feds. That money had to be spent in a special session so it wouldn’t roll over into the 2008-09 budget year. If it did, the “good old boys” left over in the legislature would have spent the ONE BILLION on goat ropin' arenas and lawn mower racin’ tracks.

I would rather have smooth highways, a restored coastline, upgraded ports, etc...

Anonymous said...

Seems like not having a record full of self-serving misdeeds and wasteful spending and political favors would be a good thing. You are condemning these guys for being middle-class, educated, productive guys without closet skeletons. If being clean-cut bothers you, you were right to vote for Slocum. If being productive and successful bothers you then Maxwell or Beard were the right choice for you.
