Antoon has known Ned longer than Jacques has been alive and they have shared political endeavors for years. It is not like Tommy to threaten on the phone or use profanities as he understands the political side to Ned's stand and doesn't have to resort to the irrational. Since the two understand the obvious about the upcoming election, I'm sure they will agree that Ned will be better off to back off now. Both Ned and his wife will be better off not offending the new mayor and I'm sure that conversations between them were mutually desired. The only way to definitively diagnose Alzheimers disease is by autopsy. You can, however, diagnose dimensia, which presents with similiar symptoms, or so I have been told. It appears that to get the true diagnosis they have to measure the amount of calcium build up in certain channels in the brain. And it's not the same type of calcium in your bones or caused from drinking milk or eating dairy products, it more similar to the type of plaque build up seen in arteries that causes blockages.
As to what Ned's diagnosis it, I do not attest to know. Unlike the president, the Mayor's medical report is not released for public consumption.
In the Hebron case, Wes should have obstained from all voting even though he knew it was wrong. He should have worked behind the scenes with other commissioners to get the investigation rolling and to prove what needed to be proven. By participating in the process, technically he violated the ethics law as much as the Mayor did. I know it sucks since he was trying to do the right thing.

I submit the following as a means of eliciting comments and thoughts in a higher direction:
The problem with the city of Alexandria is that its citizens have not demanded a high enough standard of and from its various elected officials.
Consider the following:
A) Crime is rampant because the elected law enforcement and prosecutorial officials are too busy looking after their own affairs and not the publics. The appointed law enforcement officials are not professional enough to know how to get the job done. Example: when drug and sex traffic is conducted on a major street located only 2 blocks from the police station and no one “can see” it, then one must ask “why?”. What then is the price of the “license” to practice this “trade” in Alexandria? And, who are the “license” collector(s), and why is this being permitted?
B) Who are the senior appointed persons that the elected officials surround themselves with? The citizens of Alexandria have a right to expect and to demand that only the most professional of persons be appointed to these positions. If the elected persons have only political lackeys capable of only running errands and getting coffee and laughing at sick jokes of their bosses, then the citizenry can expect to receive sub-par performance of work and results. So who is to blame when we get what we get?
C) Look at economic development? What real planning is going on in the future development of Alexandria? How much true coordination of efforts are being made at the parish and city levels? Instead of parceling out engineering services to political contributors, who is coordinating these efforts? And, is the citizens’ interest and the coordinated future development practices of the city being handled properly? Look at the traffic problems crossing MacArthur Drive going west at Monroe and 28-W, why is there not another traffic light synchronized with the east bound light to prevent the wrecks that are occurring? What about the traffic night-mare at Horseshoe Drive and Jackson Street with a 5-way stop? What about the turn lane nightmares on Jackson Street or the complete lack of a traffic light synchronization in Alexandria as a whole.? What about the development of condominiums and sub-divisions and their locations and the infrastructure to service them, much less shopping areas? What about the nature of streets and their conditions? Go into any part of Alexandria and look at the relatively poor condition of the infrastructure? Who is responsible for this, and who should correct it? And, what types of persons should be appointed to develop a plan to correct it?
D) Look at how the monies of the city are spent? Anyone can cover up old problems with new money. But, are the problems being solved in this fashion? And, who is looking after the citizens’ interests and the extravagant waste of taxpayer monies. The City Council certainly is NOT!
E) Look at daily management of city affairs. Purchase of cars, giveaway benefit programs for elected and appointed persons. What we have with Alexandria is one big slush program for the elected and un-elected appointed.
Until the citizens of Alexandria demand more of ALL of its public officials – municipal and parish – we will get what we deserve. Small town, small thinking, self-serving persons caring nothing of the citizens, except a free ride. More should be demanded of and required to be explained of all candidates BEFORE we trust our elected offices to them.

I think some perceived neutral like Goddard, or Gunn, or Madison, or Babbs, should get the debate-debate rolling. Line up a (large) room, organize the press, arrange media coverage, select a couple dates, propose some debate guidelines, and send out the letters. The parties will likely select representatives to meet and refine the debate format and rules and then we have a meaningful event. It is past time to start having a substantive public exchange between the candidates instead of everybody snipeing at each other on public bathroom walls. Keep the process public and transparent so that if some candidate tries to "excuse" out of it the public will have enough information to draw that conclusion.

these are the facts: in 1997 someone ran a stop sign and slammed into my car. the impact caused 95% hearing loss in my right ear. pretty much, i am deaf (disabled). we did not sue. we settled out of court. if you think that we settled for money to have fun with then you are sadly mistaken. i used the money for surgery and to run test. i appologize to everyone who has witnessed these personal attacks by the roy camp. these are not the issues that we as a city need to focus on. i just wish that roy could leave my family out of his onslaught and keep his sights on the future of alexandria.

this is my last post. i don't understand alot of what's going on but i can say this for sure: my mom is an honest person. i know this. she has never mislead me or anyone i know. i do not know mr. roy but he claims to know alot about my family. i just hope that when this race is over that we, as a city, can look into the proverbial mirror and face ourselves.

I do not think they are morally equal or even close, but if you remove morality, ethics, personal loyalty, and judgment from the equation, I still think Roy has a substantial edge. I have simply never heard Brewer handle a legitimate substantive question. She has certain meaningless canned responses like Roosevelt but says nothing to suggest she understands the question or has a hint of an answer.
With that having been said, I don't think you can disregard the moral and ethical gap between the candidates, particularly in this climate with this council.
Delores Brewer and husband retained counsel and sued. Morgan sued. Morgan apparently, college degree and all cannot understand sue/settle lawsuit out of court. Morgan the injred party received compensation and rightly so. Mr. and Mrs. Brewer received compensation for lose of consertium (probably misspelled) during the time Morgan was injured. All the fabricated ranting and raving about Roy's involvement with Brown and with the City/CLECO case fails to mention the Brewer's enriching themselves due to their son's pain.

Jacques represents Sam Sansing in an employee/employer dispute with Cleco.

we've been away a few days because of the inclement weather and looks like the blog has been buzy. its good to see that many of you came to morgan brewers defense. although we dont support his mothers candidacy for mayor we feel that he has the right to come here and engage and debate and be reciprocated accordingly. to mr brewer we would say to lighten up and realize that a lot of what may seem harsh comments are really jokes. for example no one really thinks that you smoke crack and play with star wars dolls lol. its just a joke. so have a laugh and keep on going. dont take it personally.

I suggest that it be a neutral forum like Cenla Antics. I think that the blog owner can try to milk identity information from the posts and that wouldn't be fair to the Brewer team.
It would also be refreshing if I thought the candidate was somehow participating in these decisions instead of looking so "managed".
Shit just have a debate in an open forum. She personally supervised the construction of all them new buildings downtown so she should be able to gewt one to use.
By simply asking "do you still beat your wife" you are automaticaly guilty. If you answer "I have never beat my wife" then i can say you are in denial. If you answer "No I don't beat my wife" I can say...not anymore. By simply making the accusation puts you on the defensive, and leads people to belive it, regardless of whether it is true or not. It's kind like saying that Roy will make tons of money off the CLECO settlement.....when the truth is that his representation of Sam Sansing and any damages that may be recovered as a result is totally unrelated to any settlement the City may recieve from CLECO.

Roy gets paid by Sansing for work he did for Sansing in representing Sansing. We assume Sansing got the money from a lawful source.

No dumbass, you're not right. No money SHOULD go to the utility fund. IF any money if recovered, it should go to those who contracted with the COA to recover the funds!
In case it escaped you since you work for the Brewer camp and are therefore a dumbass liar, if those who contracted with the COA to recover the money had not come forward, the COA would recover NOTHING!
By the way, the contract to recover those funds was approved my Ned, AND Delores, since she was Chief of Staff for 5 months and NEVER thought to overturn the contract. Why? Because she's greedy and believes 50% of SOMETHING is better than 100% of NOTHING!
How bout we look at the Ken Juneau contract and the Tom David contract and the various Engineering contracts and the Moore contract and the other 10 gazillion contracts that Delores Brewer knows about but who she is friends with. Why didnt she make an issue out of the other contracts? And WHY NOW?
Let's take a look at all the contracts the COA has with those who are listed as Brewer's major contributors. Insurance, architects, landscapers, pr folks, lawyers, engineers, big businesses, small businesses, motels, people on boards, tourism industry folks, etc. Let's spread these contracts out for everyone to see. Seems only fair as long as we are coming clean with contracts with the city. Any reason why she shouldn't share this info with her supporters and the voting public. I may hold a news conference about this issue.
This is truly sad how people are bashing Delores and her family. The name calling is so uncalled for. I hope these people are not adults because they sure don't act like them. Why can't you people stick to the facts and leave out these personal attacks. I rarely see any bashing towards Roy or his family. I am sure they have plenty of skeletons in their closet as we all do. Let's try to keep this civil and remember that these two candidates have feelings too.
I have been lurking on this site for several weeks and I have enjoyed much of what I have read and I have learned many things. I stopped reading today after the attacks on Morgan. Morgan isn't running for office and I can only hope that my children would love me as much as he loves his mother and that they would come to my defense like he came to his mother's defense. I voted for Sams so I don't have a horse in this race. I have concerns over DB's honesty and I feel there is a need for change in City hall but personal attacks on Morgan make me much more sympathetic to DB. Let's get back to the issues and leave the families out of it!!
