Here's your sign!

Where oh where did I put all of those signs?

Yes it is a felony to interfere with political signs. I have had one or two "displaced" from my yard. People actually came on to private property to do so ... oh the horror. Don't we have more important issues at hand?

I would presume that the candidate that stated "they disappeared as Delores' signs appeared" has proof of this ... a good attorney might take this and turn it into a Slander/Libel suit.

On another note, does anyone have an extra fire hose?

A question for the Roy supporters--How can Roy stand for change when he has Harold Chambers and Tommy Antoon in his inner circle? Chambers is a good, rough and tumble campaign hack. Roy needs to be asked if he were to elected,if he'd hire Chambers as his chief of staff as his reward. Not difficult to figure out the rewards for Antoon, his son in law and Chamber's brother in law, the developers. Maybe we need to be focused on good government rather than the notion of change. I think most people want competent, accountable leaders. Change is merely a campaign theme. In my opinion, the only way we will have "change" is if the people elect the first black mayor. That would definately shake things up in this city.

You are fighting the premise. Change will not issue from electing a person that has been in power and has been and is an active part of the present and ongoing problems. A black mayor that was progressive, intelligent, honest, and open, would be a wonderful thing for this city. We simply don't have any of those running for the office right now. If you think that CHANGE is just a buzz word or theme or figure of speech, then quit trying to suggest that you represent CHANGE and campaign on your record and promise more of the same. The struggle that I have is all the folks promising what they will do in the future when they have been in charge for decades and haven't done a goddam thing for anybody but themselves and their friends. Now, all of a sudden, they've come to Jesus???? That is an insult to the voters.

The ditches are still uncovered, the utility bills have devastated families, crime is rampant and growing, South Alexandria is still lacking in basic services, you take your life in your hands by going to the Mall, South Alexandria neighborhoods still smell like a toilet and the roads and shoulders are not properly maintained. HERE'S YOUR SIGN!

Recycled question. The answer is no. No offense, but if you were paying attention to what's going on (instead of making blanket assumptions), you'd know that Jacques has already answered those questions.

Too bad you're not as quick to defend your own grandmother. I am sure she loves you very much.

Go back and read the archives. I've stood up for my grandparents at every turn. The latest comment about my grandmother was another recycled statement about her role in her church-- and the fact that she gave Dr. Sams, a fellow church member, $500 very early on in his campaign.

I'm more concerned about the mayor's race than church politics.

Then I apologize. I am new to the blogosphere so I didn't know. I am happy to know that you are the admirable young man that I thought you were. Keep plugging, kiddo. We desperately need young people to get involved in our community. We also need people like you to encourage young people to get out and vote!

Three white folk are trading barbs,
Spraying each other with aldicarb,
Running for mayor of A-Town
As we anxiously await their melt down.

White pundits pre-count our votes
As A-town “of color” feels its oats
And awaits the hand-off of the baton
From our threadbare, crony hangers-on.

If it’s out with the old and in with the new,
Then what’s our “spotless” Brewer to do?
Will she paddle away from Ned and crew
As she experiments with being true?

And what of Sams our noble healer,
Who would never be a blatant stealer.
His intelligence eclipses all others
and he pities us, his lesser brothers.

And finally to our charming Roy-Boy
Who promises to destroy
Every vestige of the bad old school
As he funds from the same green pool.

Lets vote soon to end the speculation
And stop the coming accusations
And get us back to blogging about
Something more important, like gout.

Very cute. I enjoyed the poem. I vote that you write one each week to provide your own special update on the race!
