ATTENTION CLASS
As I have watched the blogging on this site degrade from informative to "re-formative", I will now be monitoring content. If a post uses language that a normal individual would consider foul (you know what I mean) and racialy inciting I will delete it. This people is why nothing gets done in this town. Work together and move in the same direction -- cooperatively. No one has ever been won over by being insulted.

There is nothing petty and "junior league" about Ms. Brewer. If you knew her well, you would not think that about her. She is a hardworking, grounded, kind person. As mayor, she will remain one of the people and won't forget who are her bosses--the people. She was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She and her husband have worked for everything they have. You are trying to paint her as a lightweight because she's a woman. You sound like someone who thinks women should stay at home barefoot and pregnant. Well, get over it. It's a new world.
Anyone know if the debate will be on the video blog tomorrow? I'm out of state and unable to go or view it but hope it will be shown on the KALB video blog.
I am only making observations, not assertions. There is a certain shrillness in her supporters tone that goes right up my spine and sets off the part of my brain that detects elitist tendencies. Tell me what she is going to do specifically to address our current situation in the city without all of the puffery about her personal qualities. I have not heard any specifics - only feel-good platitudes. That is a fact ma'am.

I think everyone on here sounds shrill when answering attacks on their candidate. Plus, we should remember that the candidates can't prevent their supporters from writing stuff on the blogs. But, fair enough. You are trying to push the conversation back to the issues. Maybe each candidate should post their platforms. I hear the TT is gonna do that on its website.

In answer to your request about seeing what is posted prior to it's deletion, you will see it. I see everything "live", I am emailed each time something is posted, the same as you should you set the blog to do so.
As far as censoring ... I have allowed friends to be severely and nastily critized on this blog. Should I be critized it will remain as well.
I will however not allow obscenities and racial slurs to be a part of an otherwise blog dedicated to free and anonymous postings of that which is Central LA.
Now who sounds "shrill?" There's absolutely no indication of a free fall for Brewer. She is the frontrunner, but it's still a very competitive race and she will continue to work hard for every vote. You people have been predicting that she's finished for months now. But instead, she steadily gains. Meanwhile, because of the forums this race is bringing about very good discussions about the issues and I think it's good for the community.

I also detect a squeal in your "voice" when you are defending your candidates- in fact, Biff- I detect you are getting more and more defensive as the race goes on. Spanky- could it be you are a former employee of the city and now have "sour grapes" about losing you job?

I have not bowed to Mr. Lamar's request... my mother and father raised a gentleman. If you must know why I did so ... my own personal convictions (even I grow tired of the idiotic rants and inability of individuals who have trouble expressing themselves in a mature and educated way) and remarks passed by others.

steve, its our understanding that ksyl will stream the audio live from their website: ksyl.com > live stream.
a 2 hour video is an enormous file probably several gigabytes in size. we will try and record the audio from ksyl's stream and post it although we will have to rerecord it in smaller 10 - 15 minute segments because .mp3s are large files themselves and it could take us a day or two to complete it.
if kalb does make the vid available we will post a link in here unless someone else does it etc.

Despite knowing the 1st amendment very well, I agree with the blog owner's decision to delete the cussing and classless trash, especially the "F" word stuff. In my opinion, he or she should have also deleted all that trash about Lamar's father, that had to be one sick individual to attack a deceased man. I don't even know the kid, but nobody deserves that kind of garbage. Stay civil or get lost.

Brewer is the blonde headed face of the past inept administration. No matter how shrill her Junior League prissies become, it doesn't change the fact that she is an empty headed bimbo. Look closley and you'll see the puppet strings leading right back to the Provosty law firm and the rest of the silk stocking crowd.

Biff, go back and read what I said: Jacques did not conduct a "nasty" poll, and no one from his staff or campaign has engaged in any type of direct calling for the purposes of polling. I believe polling is typically contracted out to an independent company.
By the way, the Town Talk article today about how much money the candidates have raised is incomplete, and Jacques' numbers are now on par with Mrs. Brewer's. (This information will become public knowledge in a few weeks anyway).
Also, as I previously stated, I believe his commercials begin airing today.

Sams is the man, He was the only one in the forum that had the guts to say that yes there is coruption in city government. The other danced all around the issue. I think the public believes the coruption as well. All the candidates want to put this behind us and move forward. First The city need legislative accountants looking into some of these consultant firms that have been hired to study all the BS downtown..
