Cenla Antics

Cenla Antics

In reading today's issue of the Town Talk, I was rather taken a back to find that this blog has attracted so much attention. Although I appreciate Mr. White's request of posting authors using their real names, he seems to not understand that it defeats the purpose of the blog. Would Mr. White stand and deliver if he had a problem with his neighbor? (use a scenario that fits here folks). I think not ... it would cause undue harm to relationship that needs to work. Hence the anonymity postings on this blog. Mr. White I applaud your interest and your intent; however, I do not think that it will work in all cases.

Now Mr. White to stir the pot a little. IF the Town Talk and KALB actually did a little investigative reporting this blog would be a moot point now would it not? In they're selective reporting, they have sewn the seed that created Cenla Antics. So Mr. White, in finding the answers to the many questions being asked by the public, would not the "real" media use unidentified sources?

In closing, I am aware that I need to spend some time on archiving old postings. I hope to have this done within the next week or two. I would also like to address a statement made on this blog a few postings back. I have never deleted any postings on this blog. In my opinion to do so would again, take away from the purpose that created this blog.

I remain,

ANONYMOUS

Aww Biff,

Well, JR definitely says Chambers will not be COS.

You're right, Michele changes direction before he can elaborate much further on the issue. I got the impression that Chambers would not be offered a job in the Admin.

JR does allow that Chambers would have a lot of insight on city gov't. Of course he would. And I think it would be foolhardy for a young candidate not to learn all he could. Roy is apparantly a quick study, and he seems to have a mind of his own. I wouldn''t be too concerned about former officials influencing him. In fact, I think it's absurd to insinuate that because Chambers was at Roy's announcement, he might be a player in Roy's campaign and administration (should he win).

And that's what you are doing, Biff. You're adding one and one together and getting 3.14159265.

Harry was there, too. Does that mean Jacques is Harry's boy? There was a fellow there smoking cigarillos. Does that mean Jacques will be influenced to overturn the no-smoking ordinances?

MAYBE Harold was an interested observer. Like Harry was. Like several police officers who dropped by. Like cigarillo boy. Like I was.

Roy answered the question. I'm guessing he doesn't have time to blog all day. Lamar suggested you call Jacques, and he provided a number. It sounded like Lamar even told JR to expect your call. Did you call Jacques and ask him? Didja?

Biff, your comments are normally well-formulated, sensible and entertaining. You're one of the best posters on this blog. I just think you're like a snapping turtle on stick. Let it go. Regale us on other topics.

For the record, I can't vote for Jacques or any other mayoral candidate. But if I could, I would have to strongly consider JR.

Anonymous said...

also, for the record, i know, like and respect roy. i happen to be supporting another candidate. to me the issue is who is most likely to clean house. i say it is sams. he has a proven track record with two terms on the school board, was instrumental in removing an insider as the superintendent and getting a new competent superintendant. he didn't back away from battles, and because of that our school system has shown progress. i also knows he will devote whatever time is neccessary to accomplish his goals. the article in the northside journal does a good analysis. see http://wesawthat.googlepages.com/Editorial.pdf . on the other hand, i would agree with others that roy, who certainly is an unknown factor in terms of holding political office, would be better than what we have been getting out of city hall. i'll let it go, but i sure wish michelle would not have cut him off when he was discussing chambers.

The mayor of Alexandria should be a credible, ethical, "What can I do for the City of Alexandria" kinda candidate. Wellll after carefull research. They all have either gigantic egos, liars, whats in it for me attitudes,or all of these.

Lots of luck, glad I do not have to vote!

Interested why, just ask me. I'd be more than happy to tell you.

Did not use an animal to determine this. C.C.

CAROLYNS DAUGHTER said...

Just trying to pull your leg so to speak. The only logical choice is DELORES BREWER!!!!!!!!!

She has always tryed to do the right thing for the city, inspite of the nucklehead council.

In other words dances around the question. C.C.

Saw Michelle's interview with Roy and he handled himself better than any other candidate yet. He could be a keeper. He surprised me. I still don't believe he just fell off the political turnip truck, but maybe that ain't all bad with the situation we have now. Anyway it was a little refreshing to see that interview.

Anonymous said...

Sams sure did back away from the battle on Wednesday when the School Board voted to allow over 600 students to be promoted without knowing the material.

They also made it possible for students who didn't bother to go to summer school, or retest to be easily promoted. and just 2 days before school starts. what a great message we are sending our students.

what about the 8th grade teachers brought in to help these students, who now have no students to teach. where will they have a job monday morning??

You would think that Sams, the only one with a backbone to stand up to the public would have tried to prevent this insanity, but I guess that may have cost him some votes.

I guess he has to keep his "crazy" in check until after the election.

Anonymous said...

We saw that is an idiotic conspiracy theorist.

Jacques Roy is not qualified to be mayor, nor does he have any indorsements from high ranking democrats. Truth be known, no candidate does. It is either a democrat or a democrat for mayor of Alexandria, despite the fact that we are a conservative, bible believing area. Morons around here continue to vote democrat because they always have.

Anonymous said...

I don't think its a "moron element". A republican win is almost impossible in a majority black City. Plus, the democratic party here is controled by rural conservatives, not Alexandrians. Its hard to distinguish them from republicans. The local republican party suffers so much in-fighting that they can't agree on the color of the sky. Welcome to the South!

It is possible that the City policeman who has a Roy sign is an unclassified employee and is therefore not subject to civil service rules. There are a bunch of em...especially in Fire and Police. Right Carolyn?

Anonymous said...

After watching Roy on the blog I am even MORE sure that he is the man. No double talk, no 'misspeak " lies, no arrogance. Just straightforward and honest. I bet Brewer is dreading the kalb forum. It could be embarrassing for her.

If Charlie Nunnelly, Sonny Craig, Harold Chambers and Darryl Williamson were so bad, why hasn't anyone said why they were fired? Ned, as mayor, had to sign off on anything they did over the last 20 years and I don't here complaints about him. On the surface it actually sounds like they got screwed. Enlighten me someone.

Anonymous said...

beats me. i was never really sure what all that was about either. i am sure there are some bloggers here that could fill us in.

Anonymous said...

Could Ned have promised to get rid of those guys and replace them with people who would be acceptable to those who controlled the black vote which was needed for him to obtain another four years?

Anonymous said...

you need to look back a ways in this blog to see the Ned complaints. They stopped after his supporters turn it into a pity party for the poor lil guy. Ned sold out to Mayron and company pure and simple. Harold will tell you that he couldn't do anything to stop Dorsey the past 4 years. The council owns Ned and Dorsey was the one who did their dirty work on the streets. ya'll better never forget that. Brewer is way deep into that situation and most don't want to believe that either.

Sonny told the council that he wasn't going along with their plan to rape Alex on the gas deal. I believe he also told them to go pound sand for the umpteenth time. Harold had been telling them that for years. Darrell had been on the hit list since Ronny Hair cut his throat years ago with Neds blessing. Charley was just too lazy and greedy however he told the powers to kiss his ass once too often. It all boils down to Ned selling his soul. He's the lacky who held the purse strings and is trained to roll over with pee running down his leg when Myron or his heyboy CFS barks. Why do you think Sanders got his job? Why do you think the Hilton got the deal? Ya'll are either blind or have your heads so far up your asses that all you can smell is the money.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous, could it be those 8x10's Errol trotted to Ned's office one day that thumped him over the edge? Yeah, he has been playing ball with the gangstas and that is how shit happens.

Anonymous said...

beats me. total conjecture on my part. i think ned had some skeletons, had no intention of running again, or maybe not, but the council member/members put pressure on him to get rid of cicardo, get rid of his main administrators and he caved. who knows? again i repeat, there are people who read this blog that know the real reasons. the end result was obvious. poor ned lost his main players, had no more power, the council absorbed that power, passed out power to their cronies, made one horrible decision after another, and ned got the blame. it's a shame. ned deserved better than that, but i think the general public blames ned for the last four years, when in reality the council deserves it. ned gave a lot to this community over the years, but the public will only remember the last four years or so.

As a graduate of Bolton High School and a mother of children who will be entering highschool very soon, I am saddened to see what has happened to a school that has been academically superior for years. Together with Mr. Higgins, Charlene Johnson, and Nancy Monroe, John Sams has destroyed this school to a state from which it may never recover. By removing Penny Toney and several other teachers, they have turned this school into an academic joke.

It is my prayer that Pam Webb can undo some of the dammage that John Sams has done. If she treats the schoolboard position as she has treated her family and the community, I know she will succeed.

As for John Sams, I pray he does not get elected as mayor to the city of Alexandria. He will surely turn this community into the same thing he has succeeded turning Bolton High School into, a laughing joke.

The problem with his warped sense of humor is the joke is on our community, and it is not funny.

We notice that there is no response to the comment about the damage done to Bolton High School by Sams.

Two good things will come out of this election:

1. John Sams will not be mayor.
2. John Sams will not be on the school board.

Good riddance, tubby.

Hasn't Charlene Johnson, teacher at Bolton, publically supported John Sams in his bid for mayor??

Could it be because, although she was on medical leave from Peabody, he got her hired as librarian at Bolton, a job where she has no work to do, except spy for John Sams?? And no, the librian job was not opened, she was transfered, AFTER school started.

Just a brief change of subject here. I received a flyer from the code enforcement office today regarding household and yard waste and the placing of same out for collection, proper placement, bagging, etc. I have no problem with this and believe that all residents of the city and the parish as well should abide by these codes and try to keep the community looking nice.

Herein lies the rub for me. I live on a corner which has a three way stop. Drivers fail to stop at this intersection by droves daily, and the cross-section of these idiots reaches across racial, gender and age lines. I have reported this to the police department before, and they have even stationed units along the street to enforce it, but there are not enough officers to man the duty daily.

Here's an idea. Why not open a road specifically for dumbass drivers, let them all use it, no patrols, no speed limits, no stop signs and maybe they will all kill each other and not be a menace to normal people who do not live their lives with their heads three feet up their own asses.

I'm not sure what the law is on a police officer with a sign. File a complaint with the civil service board and we will find out. What is a crime at Bolton is the proud athletic tradition gone to Hell. Man, they used to be a powerhouse in football. Athletics has been crushed by the big'un.

He looks like a bear.

No, actually more like a pimp.

The new football coach is not even athletic director, must say something about how bad he needed the job. A good coach knows how to get both jobs so he can get more money. Look for another losing season.

"All things in moderation."

Althought its great to believe Dr. Sams is the cure for corruption, too much of anything can kill you. I honestly belive that what he has done at Bolton is a microcosm of what he will do to the City. He has no understanding of the term "Pick your battles." Bolton was a good school with good leadership and a highly qualified, devoted faculty. Many of the good teachers are gone and the few great ones who remain are sure to be typing resumes as we speak. Sams is proof of reincarnation .... the reincarnation of John K. Snyder.

Anonymous said...

The council has sysematically usurped the power, control, and prerogatives of the administrative branch of city government by sheer power plays that the administration had neither the courage or resolve to resist. If you think that some "Mr. Rogers" character is going to be able to walk in there and govern in concert with this council as now constituted, you are the nutzo person. The most obvious and public display or disregard for the charter was the Nerine Day appoinntment but there were hundreds of others including the now well establish habit of the councilmen giving direct orders and exercising direct immediate control over the poor caught-in-the-middle city employees. We need a complete changing of the guard and a mayor who can keep the new government on-track. Snyder would have never let our city come to this! There are worse things than a strong and forceful administrator. Please choose right.

Anonymous said...

Strong and forceful are one thing, stubborn to the point of insanity yet another. Dr. Sams is worse than a rabid animal; once he sinks his jaws into something he will not let go. He is totally incapable of compromise. Without carefully thought out compromise no candidate, no where, can ever hope to be truely effective.

Whats wrong with the picture is an 18 year old serving alcohol, I believe that is a violation of the law. I am glad Dr. Sams will sink his teeth in and not let go. We have had too much compromise now.

Anonymous said...

The reader's write today slamming the references to "corruption" in Sam's ad is a great example of just how clueless the general population is to the rampant graft and corruption. There's your average voter mentality, hence, there's your green light to four more years of the same bullsh*t.

Anonymous said...

Be careful what you say about John Sams and what he has done to Bolton High School. He tends to take his anger out on the employees and former employees of that school. Of course maybe now if he goes on a rampage we will know who to blame for the damage.

Anonymous said...

Who will the Town Talk choose to bless with its endorsement, a.k.a. the political kiss of death?

Anonymous said...

As a teacher of gifted students at one of the middle schools in town, I can tell you that Nancy Monroe has done incalculable harm to Bolton and its students. She is all about herself, her glory, and her renown as a "wonderful" teacher. She is most decidedly not about the students she is supposed to be educating. The best thing that could happen to BHS is for Nancy Monroe not to teach there!

Anonymous said...

The Town Talk will endorse Brewer. Remember the inbreeding (law firm, bank, newspaper, chamber)

Anonymous said...

Nancy Monroe! Is she still teaching?? I would have thought she would have been the first to go. Sounds like she is kissing somebody's ass!!

Another look at the mayors race you all might want to consider. It's a given that politics in Louisiana is a rough and tumble affair. Every candidate in the race has a political past that is somewhat unsavory. As the NSJ puts it, you have the "cesspool 3" and their buddy Joe Fuller. No shortage of skeletons there. Then you have Dr. Sams who will have to answer for his double dealing with his residence issue on the school board, his connections with the Louisiana ACLU, his favortism in staff selection at Bolton, reluctance to set aside his medical practice while he serves as mayor, and lastly his pompous attitude concerning his own imtellegence VS everybody elses.

Make no mistake about it, this will be a nasty, vicious, attack oriented campaign.

Ask yourselves this: With all the ammunition that Brewer, Fuller, Sams, CFS, and Johnson have to throw at each other, what dirt do they have on Roy? He's the only candidate that has has no history and therefore supplies no ammunition to his detractors. If the worst thing people can say about Roy is that Chambers showed up at one of his political functions...he skates!

All Roy has to do is stay above the fray and he makes it to the runoff.

The bones and feathers have spoken....

Anonymous said...

Interesting question about Bolton and Sams. Just who IS the athletic director at Bolton if not the football coach? AND ask a few questions about his past dealings with situations that has prompted his moving from school to school ALL with Sams knowledge when he brought him there.

Anonymous said...

I disagree with the feathers and bones theory. Polling shows that Roy can't just sit on the high ground and slide into the run-off. He's got to put the fleas on Brewer to get that white spot in the 2nd round.

Anonymous said...

And if he gets into the runoff, he's got to get a percentage of the black vote in order to win. THAT I don't believe he can do.

Sorry about him breaking up the playhouse that was Bolton. It hurts when the stutus quo is disrupted..

Not able to vote in the City I feel Alexandria will get what it deserves and fortunately I will not be impacted. If change is what the voters desire change will come about. If a continuance of the same situation is what the voters want (and it is for the majority of the population of Alexandria is Black and a large number are enjoying the largesse of majority Black City Council) the situation wilol continue. Funny thing is the Blacks have the largest number of voters but contribute less to the city's finances. White folks keep the City supplied with funds and Blacks dictate the spending. It must be this way the Blacks have a majority on the City Council. Who are they going to take care off Charles Park, etc or Samtown-Woodside, Lower Third?

There is no one other than Sams with a large enough set of gonads to fight and control the council. It is open warfare and the first shot fired should be a nuke then see if the populace desires equality for all rather than a few.

Anonymous said...

i also agree, arrogant bastard or not, sams is most likely to bring about a regime change. i also suspect people are going to be very surprised at the number of black votes sams picks up. the black vote is not monolithic, and a good many of them fully understand the present black leadership is more concerned with taking care of themselves than their constituents.

Anonymous said...

Biff I think Lamar's continous support of Roy is actually working in Sams behalf. It would appear that Lamar represents the liberal, politically correct political speakers who think change can be brought about by all the Council Members and the Mayor going out on an overnight camping trip and singing Kumba Ya. I think there are way more mature voters in the City that recognize the problem and how deep rooted it is and understand playing nicey nice will not work.

Lamar's political correctness extends to the point of if he does not agree with or like the wording of your posting on his blog he deletes the posting. Hardly a fair presentation of the thoughts of the community. Seems to me it is a very unbalanced look at the feelings in the Community.

As I have stated before Lamar has already annointed Roy as the Mayor. One would think anything written deterimental to that goal would be (and is) deleted from his blog and he immediately contest the information if it is on another blog site.

A vision revealed to me in the pattern of God's water spouting from the side of that tree says
Lamar is doing Roy great harm (especially when he makes bold statements then doesn't back them up) to the advantage of Sams.

So you were given two knives: one from Cleco and one in the back from Albin Provosty.

You said that the council's failure to act on the gas contract costs Alexandrians millions of dollars. Can you estimate the cost of that failure to act on the gas contract. I am guessing that every household had to fork over an extra $800 to $1200 dollars in utility bills. That would be a good thing to know right now when folks are buying school clothes and back-to-school stuff.

And thank you for your years of excellent service to our city. Hope to see you back there soon.
