Had this been a yahoo group, we could have eliminated 70% of the inane comments on here. So much clutter to sift through is annoying.

I don't agree. I think that a council removal of Ned would have a more inspiring effect on the public perception. I know how CFS covets the mayor's office so only fear has kept him from attempting a coup to oust Ned. The previous poster was probably right. They have been far more effective by isolating him than they would have been by removing him. Unfortunately, this scenario makes advancement virtually impossible for Brewer, Chambers, or Nunnally. The all have the dredded curse.

Fair weekend to you fellow posters. Now that the public has spoken on the political scene in Pineville, perhaps it’s time to out the single poster who has at times called himself Anonymous or Blogger #1. Greg Aymond! C’mon down! For the amusement of our fellow posters here at Cenla Antics, Let me introduce Greggy boy and explain why his fat little fingers fly over the keyboards each night in a vain attempt to derail Pineville officials.

Pudgy little Greg was the attorney for Water Works District #3, a position which he held for many years. Greg was content to attend their board meetings once in a while and render the occasional legal opinion on important issues before the board. I believe his favorite saying was, “Yes you have to send out a public bid for a purchase if the purchase exceeds $15,000.” For these pearls of wisdom, Greggy boy charged the board an obscene hourly rate. Through the years, Greggy continued to fleece the WW#3 board, and the board continued to pay, mainly because they were two stupid to know that were being raped.

Then, Butch Lindsay was elected as Ward 10 police juror. Lindsay installed some intelligent members on the Board of directors like Bonnie LeMoine, Otha Hailey, Rich Dupree, and others. This group knew competent legal advice when they heard it and decided to check into Little Gregory’s sweetheart deal. To his surprise, they caught little Greg with his hand in the cookie jar. To make a long story short, Greg was fired.

Like most small minded individuals, he blames his failures on those who caught him, railing at the top of his fat little lungs that he was a great attorney and loyal to the board. He continued to do so as they threw him from the board room and slammed the door in his face. He would love to extract revenge on the board, but they all are employed in the private sector, except Dupree. Since Dupree is a public employee, he is the lightening rod for Gregory’s sputtering attempts to play outraged citizen.

He screams about Dupree’s education, experience, and demands to know what qualifications Dupree possesses to hold the job he has. Greg forgets that Dupree serves at the pleasure of the mayor who appoints him, and the council, who approves that appointment. Anyone who has come into contact with Dupree in a professional setting can attest that the man knows what he is doing. Where he got his expertise is unimportant. What is important, is that he is capable of doing his job. The people seem pleased with their mayor, and the workings of their council. As a group, they are all going back in without opposition, something that has never happened before in the history of Pineville.

Greg really is a laughable guy, furiously writing letters to the media, the Attorney General, ethics board, district attorney, and anyone else he believes will listen. Babs Zimmerman showed me one of his famous letters once. The c.c. section was a half page long. He sees sinister plots everywhere in Pineville, and somehow they are all geared to injure him personally and professionally.

In short, Gregory is a loony as they come.

So next time we read some inane ranting against Pineville’s city government, smile and let Greg know how much we appreciate such a vigilant watchdog! Tell him what a value he is to our community. Humor him...and remember his mental state is fragile.

Anonymous said...

I was told that Greg was a white supremacist and belongs to the KKK or some such organization. What's the deal on that? Wasn't he partners with the Pineville city judge?

Anonymous said...

Man newbie - you're sure kinda tough on us fat people.

Anonymous said...

My apologies to those among us, who, like me, are rather portly. Greg however is more than portly, he cartoonish. Picture a bowling ball with a tiny head and stubby little appendages…

Anonymous said...

I have no idea about Greg's affiliation with any racist group, however, he has had several different employee/partner relationships with various local attorneys over the years. I loose count....

Anonymous said...

Would it be possible to hold off on the lard asses until after we take back Alexandria?

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure what membership cards Mr. Aymond currently has in his wallet, but I do know that in August 1979, Gregory R. Aymond was arrested by then Capt. Glen Beard, for disturbing the peace. He was dressed in his KKK garb and was there in support of a speech by Grand Wizard David Duke (yep, same one). The Alexandria Daily Town Talk, August 21, 1979, had a picture of Mr. Aymond, in "full-gown", seated behind noted Civil Rights leader Louis Berry, at David Duke's speech at Convention Hall. Town Talk archives will also show you a picture from October 1, 1979, of the KKK clad Mr. Aymond protesting the admission of Vietnamese "boat people" into our country. As far as the practice of law, I'm not sure who he has partnered with over the years, but he is CURRENTLY the legal advisor for Pineville City Court Judge Phillip Terrell.

Anonymous said...

1. Why would Pineville City Court Judge Phillip Terrell need a legal advisor?

2. Why would a city with a black mayor and substantial minority population including Vietnamese have a vocal KKK member (regardless of when) on their payroll in a responsible position?

3. I have seen Mr. Aymond at the court house and I would think that a full color photo of him would resolve the issue of white supremacy (and perhaps the issue of intelligent design).

What's this:

VERSUS
RICH DUPREE

Trial Court - Pineville City Court
Pineville City Court

Plaintiff Appellant - Gregory R. Aymond - Gregory R. Aymond
Defendant Appellee - Ronald J. Fiorenza - Rich Dupree
Defendant Appellee - Henry Howard Lemoine Jr. - Rich Dupree

I will try to answer your questions, but you may need to ask the Judge yourself next time you get caught speeding through town. As someone who lives in Ward 11, and have made a couple of contributions to the judge's retirement fund, I know that "Pineville City Court" covers more than just Pineville. I believe it serves all of Wards 9, 10 and 11. If my obervation is correct, the Judge and the Marshall, are NOT on the City of Pineville's payroll. If someone knows differently, please post. As far as why the Judge would need a legal adviser, lawsuits are filed against elected judges, just like they are against everyone else. My brother tells me that Aymond and Terrell were once law partners, but I can't confirm that.

Anonymous said...

I sense that someone is trying to deflect us away from the Greg Aymond - KKK stuff. Pineville's future for the next 4 years is a dead issue but this is really important stuff. I can't imagine how something like this could happen. Is his affiliation with the KKK common knowledge. Something really needs to be done about this. Judge Terrell is a good lawyer and a good guy. Why would he get mixed up with this kind of freak?

Anonymous said...

Judges have immunity and insurance. And if the judge needs a lawyer, why wouldn't he hire a good lawyer. Judge Terrell is hankering for the DA job and his open long-term affiliation with this kind of creep would be very difficult to overcome. Strange.

Anonymous said...

Ahhhh, more of the comical Mr. Aymond’s past comes trickling out. I do know that the Pineville City court actually has jurisdiction over Wards 9, 10, and 11 so technically it is not just a “city court.” As far as structure goes, the Pineville City court judge hires and fires who he wants. He does not answer to the mayor, and runs the court with funds derived from fines, probation costs, etc. Employees of Pineville City court are not City Employees. If Phillip Terrell has Greg Aymond in his employ, then Judge Terrell should check into Aymond’s arrest record, along with his convictions. I do not think a man convicted of a civil rights offense, which may be a felony, can be on the payroll of the court.

As to the suit mentioned, it’s the same one I touched on in an earlier post. Aymond took Dupree to court in a frivolous lawsuit contending that as a member of the board, Dupree cannot act to dismiss him. We all know that this is silly. Also, Aymond never filed suit against any other board member to my knowledge so it’s obvious that Aymond was targeting Dupree to embarrass the Mayor of Pineville. Judging from his past, it may explain Aymond’s racist remarks on this blog. By the way, Aymond had his ample posterior relentlessly kicked by Dupree’s attorney.

Also, the point Anonymous made concerning intelligent design, and his observations are well taken. The man is a buffoon.

Anonymous said...

If Judge Terrell has a buddy like Greg Aymond, what does that say about Terrell's judgement? Do we really want a Judge in Pineville who has friends who are card carrying members of the KKK? Why doesn't Terrell separate himself from this kind of trash?

Anonymous said...

So if Newbie = Dupree and Dupree drops a dime on Aymond for being KKK and being associated with Judge Terrell and Terrell becomes racist by association with Aymond and Terrell suffers politically, then did Dupree screw Terrell? Perhaps so. Hmmmmmmmm

Anonymous said...

Poor Rich Dupree. First he gets blamed for being uneducated and just down right stupid. Now he is getting credit for "screwing a judge" and making Greg Aymond a member of the KKK. What's next, he had something to do with the shooting of JFK?????

Anonymous said...

While you people bicker about North of the river jousting, the snake continues to feed on Alexandria's tax dollars and prey upon those seeking to do business with the City. Beat the snake, and you have beaten corruption in our City.

Anonymous said...

Ah thanks. Exactly what we need - cryptic serpant references. Do you really have something constructive to say? If there are illegal deals tell us about them. If there is someone doing illegal or unethical things who are they - what are they? You talk about the Town Talk keeping stuff under wraps - if you don't tell us and we don't know doesn't that make it your fault?

Snake! Gimme a break!

Anonymous said...

To the anonymous poster who continues to believe that I am Dupree...Good morning Greg! Hatch any nefarious schemes for world domination over the weekend?

Anonymous said...

Newbie, if you have it in for Greg, maybe you should deal with him directly instead of all this accusatory indirect anonymous confrontational stuff you do here which, may I say, are startring to resemble chicken dropping. Your Nazi-bateing stuff, while well deserved and of interest to anyone with a shred of justice and decency, may have some unfortunate political consequences that you don't want to get caught up in. You just don't seem like a stand-up guy to me. I don't mean this to be a personal attack, just an observation.

Anonymous said...

newbie: I have heard that story told in many different versions, but your's has to be the most entertaining in it's delivery. As far as the credibility of the statements, your story seems to fit with a majority of what I've been told, so that seems to confirm it's merit.
As far as you being Dupree, I'm not buying it - too many differences in language patterns, IMHO.

On the herpetology soliloquist: I think the message has come across that the snake is burning Rome (which will cause one hell of a traffic jam, as all roads lead there) - a) I was not aware that Alexandria was all we are supposed to discuss and b) I think you're still missing a viable candidate. Aside from slinging rumors about Ned's state of mind, where is the candidate that would garner approval by Alexandria's proletariat. I do however wonder if the city council is taking lyre lessons ...

Anonymous said...

Fields of Green??? Greg, is that you or just an Aymond sycophent? Regardless, I read your observations and I ask you, Just how would you go about "dealing with him directly?" Should I engage him in a battle if wits? Confront him on the street with the accuations of others? Perhaps challenge him to a bout of fisticuffs?

Please....deal with reality like the other grown-ups here.

I haven't accused little Gregory of anything. I HAVE called attention to Greg's own actions and speculated as to the possible motivations for those actions.

As to being a "stand up guy" just who would you like me to stand up to? Greg? Please see paragraph 1 above.

Anonymous said...

Hey Maverick, they have a "preview" button for a reason.

Anonymous said...

If you questioned whether the town Talk protects Pineville officials...just note that they do the interviews for a rare negative story over a week ago...dont quote to any pineville officials not even the Pineville CZAR of ED ...and THEN wait until AFTER the qualifying to print it......Its SO obvious....Is it dark up there Bill Sumral?

Anonymous said...

Nobody ever said Gannett was unbiased.

Anonymous said...

Scarlett...there are already plans for a sign to be located in the exisiting bed area on the Glass Specialties side of the bridge approach. I nderstand the concerns of those business people about putting up a fence along the property line however I disagree with the perception that an ornamental iron fence denotes a security problem. A chain link fence with barb wire on top....now that denotes a security problem. A solid wood fence would denote that an objectionable view is trying to be blocked. The iron fence is a great idea and would actually increase the percieved and actual value of the adjacent property. Unfortunantly many of the residents of our area are not yet sophisiticated enough to understand that.

Anonymous said...

ITs pretty obvious that the same person writes ANONymous comments about Greg Aymond is the same person writing as if to imply that there is more than the ONE person writing the comments. Obviously he has struck a nerve of truth on someone . Someone who seems to know a lot about Rich Dupree and who has done some opposition research on Mr Aymond....But WHY? Could this be another "person" named GREG?

Anonymous said...

Scarlett, what has given you the mistaken impression that I am closely aligned with the officials in Pineville? My knowledge of the situation in Pineville comes from observation, which any of you can do if you pay careful attention.

May I suggest that all of you become equally vigilant and educate yourself as to what the reality of local government is? Knowledge IS power.

Scarlett, although I agree with you that such a structure would be nice, why don’t you make an appointment with Mayor Fields and propose that project yourself? It would give you the opportunity to form an opinion of the man based on personal observation. I’m sure everyone here would like to hear your impressions.

Now good posters, I am forced to leave you for a few days. There is no guaranteed internet access in St. Martin, so I am leaving my laptop at home.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Bill Sumrall is definitely a lap dog for Mayors/Fieldup

Anonymous said...

How about the other representative seats and senate seats up for election next year. Any names coming up yet? Dewitt, Farrar, Curtis, McPherson . Only Dewitt and Curtis can not run for reelction. Are there others out there who would be better?

Anonymous said...

Newbie, I overestimated you. I assumed that you had delt with other adults and resolved differences in an intelligent mature dialogue. Your shock at my suggestion would lead me to believe that, but for back-stabbing, you have no human interaction skills at all.

Your problem with Mr. Aymond is obviously on a personal level. You criticize him for his girth and lack of legal skill. Perhaps if you talked to him rather than about him you could resolve something. You would have to deal with him on a civilized level or there may be consequences which you currently avoid by your anonymous ambush tactics. One might assume that you are a huge coward. That would not earn you much respect in this forum.

Anonymous said...

See PHD assessment.

Anonymous said...

Scarlett...you were a little HARSH towards me!!!! I, like you, tend to speak sometimes without thinking about it first. At least we know what we believe and aren't afraid to express it.

I merely suggested that an ornamental fence is really the best option from an aesthetic and functional standpoint. But then, maybe there doesn't even need to be a fence there. Perhaps some brick columns or a low brick wall like you suggested would be less contraversial to property owners.

I will try to find out who is "in charge" and make the suggestion.

Anonymous said...

Well the fence of coures is this administrations IDEA of development along the river..! Maybe they can fence the OTHER river development the abandoned, never opened Bike Track.

Anonymous said...

Can we get a separate Blog for Pineville so we can only have important issues on this one?

Anonymous said...

And when they finish fencing in the bike track, Fun Zone should be next. That development should have never been allowed there. If I remember correctly, that was the "previous" administrations'idea.

Anonymous said...

Yes...you can get a separate site. If you have something that is so "SERIOUS" to say, then say it. Otherwise don't waste space with your little barbs.

Anonymous said...

The snake would like to challenge McPherson, but the snake can't get votes in Buckeye. He is therefore relagated to Alexandria. Thanks be to the redneck element.

OK Scarlett...I have a name now.

The Snake can't beat Joe Mac. He can't carry Woodworth either. The Snake will most likely cut off his own head....due to arrogance or ignorance.

Anonymous said...

Has anyone checked out the TT article on the Strategic Plan that McElroy is doing for Alexandria. You can download portions of the plan from the website. First thing I noticed.....page 1, paragraph 1, sentence 1.....Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority was misspelled.....and they are paying half of the bill. I will restrain from commenting on the contents, sketches, etc. Would like to know what the average "man on the street" thinks about it.

Anonymous said...

Myron is giving away hundreds of thousands of dollars of your money to his buddies and tennants of his office. Are you going to stand for it?

Anonymous said...

This is really nothing new. We have dumped millions of dollars on worthless studies by Patrick Moore and BHB Architects, and David and Pan American, and Meyer, et al on mountains of worthless studies. We could burn all that crap and generate electicity. It is the now the minority's turn at the trough and we are getting all pissed off but there current wastefullness is not even in Ned Randolph's league. But its our money and we just sit by and let it happen. The water park study is probably the bottem of the graft and corruption barrell - the Lawson Business Incubator.

Anonymous said...

Wow! This last posting makes me want to donate to the local literacy project.

Anonymous said...

You know we WISH..but other than speculation Ive not heard of a SINGLE solitary person who has been interviewed by the FBI. Has anyone heard anything FACTUAL re any investigation by either the local DA or the FBI...not speculation or hope but factual? I hear our local DA has already punted on some of the City dealings and that IS factual.....but Ild like to know if there is any truth to the rumor that FBI is watching. I can tell you that I have talked to one person with the FEds...who told me that HE was not aware of anything and that they and FBI were stretched very very thin between previous homeland security issues and the FEMA thefts..so.....I dont see it..but would love to hear something.

Anonymous said...

Charles Smith, he the least smart and the most compromised, operates out of the Sheriff's Office, for God's sake. We have a good DA and I know that he is aware of the double-dealing but he is interested in re-election and doesn't want to stir up the "democrats". One of the guys promoted and extorted by Myron will be running for District Judge in the relatively near future. I expect his opponent(s) to raise the issue.

Myron needs to go hunting with Dick.

Anonymous said...

A word to our city administration: Dick Cheney is not being criticized for shooting anybody. He is catching hell for not being honest with the people. If you don't think Ned's condition is a matter of public interest and information to which the public is entitled, you will be very sorry. Public officials never learn from history. Brewer, Chambers or Nunnally better come clean or be prepared to accept the consequences.

Anonymous said...

I note today that Ms. Brewer is breaking new ground in showing courage and responsibility with regard payment for this joke of a City Plan. I, for one, spoke too soon. I thought that she lacked the guts to lead. I am obviously wrong.

Anonymous said...

Why don't you guys write a letter to the Town Talk or the Northside Journal. maybe they can find out about the FBI guys.

Anonymous said...

Man, what a tough crowd. For 20 years we have had those palace eunuchs padding their own pockets and squandering the City's resources and when we finally get somebody with the balls to push back you don't appreciate it. We have always said that it won't be easy for Brewer to distinguish herself from the middle of the Randolph pack but let's see. Well OK, when she does something for us we should appreciate it.

What about the fishing piers on Lower Third. It will sure make dumping bodies in the river much easier. And the coin operated binoculars pointed towards the Pineville levee. I guess thats so we can look at that big ass flag they put up during Riverfest.

There really are a few decent ideas in there. I don't think it worth 300k though.

CLECO never ceases to amaze me....Did anyone else just see the commercial during the news put out by Cleco This commercial is the one where one of the EXECUTIVES comes on the screeen and looks into the camera and says.."we know the bills are high but since the cost of natural gas is at an all time high and is GOING TO STAY HIGH" our bills will be high....These people are fricken ball faced liars. Just read any newspaper ..google natural gas prices and you will see that across the board due to mild winter that natural gas has fallen . I can not believe the gall of these people. Have you ever wondered why this MONOPOLY is putting high costs commercials on TV anyway?? If they have money to run commercials then they could cut our bills . Have you ever noticed how they pat themselves on the back for all the money they give to charity or economic development? HEY ...ITS NOT THEIR DAMN MONEY!!!!! Its our money that they take from us and then spend and then take credit for it!!!! And dont let them get you to celebrate the construction of their BILLION dollar plant just yet because guess who will be paying for it . Same people that pay the high salaries for their current and PAST CEOs. For too long Cleco has lied and stolen and covered it up but never have i seen them show such gall as to air a commercial that is so blatently false and provably false. They obvioulsy think that the people of Cenla are stupid and maybe we have been. If these people who KNOW they are lying are so bold as to put their lies on tape what do you think they would do if no one was watching? We have our own little Enron and World com right here in Alexandria La and they are counting on their ties with the Sheriff whose son works for Cleco , City counselman Smith who works for the Sheriff, State Rep Dewitt who is friendly with Clecos female lobbyist, the Mayor of Pineville who worked at Cleco to all help them get away with all that they have done and evidently continue to do to the people of Alexandria and all of Central La. This most recent public effort to distort and lie is unbelievable!!! When will someone stand up for all of us!!??

Anonymous said...

BLOWITOUTCHASS!

Anonymous said...

tell me about the meteoric rise of the Hilton child in the CLECO organization.

Anonymous said...

I saw the commercial and thought the same thing. How can they be so bold in their untruth? There are lots of good people who work over there but there were lots of good people at Enron too. How did they get out of the last scandal where they had to pay back $20 million ? If it ever gets out that they lied to shareholders then it will be like a snowball going down a hill and all of the politicos who are intent on protecting these people will be leading the crowd torches held high storming the castle. But WHEN?

Anonymous said...

I would encourage any present or past CLECO employees who know anything about misdeeds at Cleco to get the truth out HERE.

Anonymous said...

I just looked it up . Natural Gas has fallen since late fall of last YEAR. WHY HAS OUR ELECTRIC BILL GONE UP!?!?! My God this was a new commercial and they just lied with a straight face. Unbelievable.

Anonymous said...

Ummm, is not Cleco's primary obligation to their shareholders? So why would they spend their marketing budget (where all the flashy commercials come from) in order to decrease rates? That would be like asking any other business to reduce their profits because people don't like their prices. I understand that utility bills are pretty high these days (I am in the $300+ category and I have Cleco, not City of Alex), but if we start complaining that someone is making money off whatever product they provide, we may as well go back to the stoneage. Sure the executives make a lot of money, and if something goes wrong, they are ultimately the ones going down in flames. Personally I would think that being responsible for the wellfare of 800+ employees and 2.x billion in assets (in Cleco's case) would give someone $400k+ in headaches a year.
As far as the commecial goes, I'm fairly certain if a few people call Cleco and point out their mistake, it would be pulled off the air. You have to remember that these commercials usualy have runtimes of several months - natural gas WAS in fact at a high in December '05, which may well be when the commercial was shot. And further keep in mind what kind of TV station we are talking about - how many times do they run ads for the pre-christmas sale on the 30th of December, advertise events the month after they took place.
No, I do not work for Cleco, but I have respect for their right to make a profit. How would you feel if your boss fired you tomorrow because people would rather see your salary used to lower prices? You may envy the executive compensation, but until you are a shareholder there is not a whole lot you can do about it. I think Cleco, P&G, IP and some of the other big companies have been very good to this area, much better than most politicians - in fact, it was Cleco and Shaw that pretty much swung the Union Tank deal, P&G brought in a cluster of other companies, the Cleco powerplant will create what, over one thousand construction jobs for years to come? - what else do you want?

Anonymous said...

So, its OK to lie to make profits.
I guess you would justify the activity of Enron too. I don't think I said anything about making a profit being bad. I wish I had a govt position that would make me instantly so wise.

Anonymous said...

We don't want anything else. Pile on the utility bills. We don't have any choice, there is no competition to keep the rates low, but thats ok we just won't pay for Grandmas medicine this month. We don't want anything else we like knowing that perhaps there has been some cooking of the books to make more profit its good for the economy. We dont want anything else, Thank you Cleco , Thank you so much for raising our rates so you can "GIVE " money to get Union Tank car who will in turn pay it BACK in high utility rates . We thank you so much because you are our friend..YOU are CLECO

Anonymous said...

"anonymous said...
[...] If they have money to run commercials then they could cut our bills . [...]"
Which means cutting their profits to lower bills. And the "they lied" crap, it may be a bit unwise to run those commercials now, but natural gas was at $14 in the beginning of December, at the end of October before that, it takes a while to get commercials aired and if nobody pays attention the message comes across wrong. Mike Madison strikes me as a pretty straight shooter, besides, the PSC regulates the electricity business, call St. Blanc and complain to him, I understand he gets that on a daily basis.

Oh, and I may be wise, that's why I don't work in government ... or for Cleco ;)

The snake can be beaten, but it will take at least $100,000. Is his opponent willing to spend what it takes? If he is beaten, Alexandria will rise again.

Anonymous said...

Screw the snake. It won't take 100K if we do our share. We can't just let Dr. Alex do it all himself. If we aren't willing to stick our necks out we don't deserve a change. But we gotta start talking to our neighbors and church members and co-workers now. If we don't do it, it won't get done.

Anonymous said...

Your a fool and a political neophyte if you don't realize that money wins elections, and bullsh*t walks. The snake will cash in from all of those he has made rich and there are many from both races. Keep your eye on the snake's campaign finance filings. That's the way it works, and it keeps on working. Don't give me that "tell your neighbors" crap. This is a man's game and it is usually won by the man (or woman) who spends the most money. If your not serious enough to drop $100,000 of your own dollars to win, get out and give us someone who will do it.

Anonymous said...

Right and wrong don't matter to self-styled political sophisticates like yourself. Your amorality created the Myron Lawsons of the waorld. You run your mouth and leave all of the hearvy lifting to everyone else. You are a bush league observer. Stay out of the way.

Anonymous said...

At $800 per month council pay, how long will it take you to recover the $100,00 you think one should spend. So you have to steal or peddle influence to make it work. I hope they send you to the same pen they committed Martha Stewart to. You are, by every definition, a crook.

Anonymous said...

No my friend. "Bush league" is believing you can beat an entrenched incumbent by "talking to your neighbors". You must pound them with TV, radio and direct mail. For example, remember when Wiggins took Farrar down. His homerun commercial featured a very large white hand with a rolex around the wrist grabbhing a handful of cash from a gambling representative. He ran the spot over and over again. It was devastating. How effective would a $40,000 TV buy with a large hand with a wad of Alexandria tax dollars being handed over to a Missisippi consultant be budddy? It would be devastating. A little more effective than a neighborhood "meet the candidate tea". Grow up and get real. Bush is where he is because of Karl Rove and Karl doesn't host tea parties.

Anonymous said...

You are so wrong about needing 100k to win the council race. I hate to break it to you...but this isn't Washingtom Frickin DC...it's just a small town with a little ole council seat.

Look at Roosevelt Johnson. You know how he won? The man bought a few signs and went door to door talking to people. That type of grass roots approach can be very effective at the local level. Cost...$200.00 for the shoes he wore out walking the streets. Get a grip man.

Anonymous said...

No, actually I'm the most honest person I know. You don't get it. This is not about paying back a campaign debt. You spend it, you don't expect to get it all back. Who runs for council for the big paycheck? Its about returning honesty and integrity to Alexandria government. Its gonna take somebody who cares enough to spend a little, or alot, of their own money, idiot.

Anonymous said...

Roosevelt did not beat an entrenched incumbent. Watch how much the incumbent spends this year. Unfortunately, I'm afraid he is going to give everyone a lesson in politics.

Anonymous said...

You know, at least we all have the same goal in mind. We may not agree on how to get there, but its a start.

Anonymous said...

Thanks Scarlett. I remember when Rosevelt took on Lawson with $200 and a pair of tennis shoes. Lawson crushed him, and I mean "crushed".

Anonymous said...

Well, as much as I hate to agree - it will take lots of cash. And 100k is probably about right, at least - a decent direct mail campaign will set you back at least 5-10% of that, and that's just one campaign. Add TV and radio (especially since political campaigns pay top dollar by law), couple of billboards and you're right about there, the new shoes will have to come from the first city council pay check. The only thing I see differently is that the cash will not have to come from the candidate alone, but can, in theory at least, be largely raised through contributions. Naturally, in order to get to those, you'll have to dip into your own reserves.
The, umm, slightly underhanded way, is to call on certain people to drop like 10k a piece on their candidate - doesn't take a lot of those to make the magic 100 - then they get party favors in return as nothing in life is free ...

Coucil Seat for sale - $100k obo - call 555-4666, ask for "Snake"

This is not the same Myron that dazzled us as the golden boy of the minorities. He is tarnished and discovered and I don't think he can pull the same kind of popular support. We aren't fighting the Myron that was, but the Myron that is. His bloodsucking supporters will go with the winner. No loyalty there, they paid dearly for every favor they got.

Anonymous said...

You know a few properly timed articles in the Town Talk could do lots of damage to Myron and CFS. i bet Billy Gunn has all the information in a box in his office somewhere. Perhaps the TT is waiting to write the stories when the timing is more strategic. Oh well...we can at least dream that it may happen that way. Yes, Myron did beat Roosevelt badly. But Rose kept coming back. I guess he eventually just wore people down.

Anonymous said...

Look. We really have to get away from this money crap or we will have the same Chuck Fowler, Charles smith, Myron Lawson BS we have now. We have to find people that will sacrifice for the public good but we cant expect them to dump a fortune into the race and have the whole weight of the city fall on their families. Who the hell has 100K to spend on this election. Since campaign spending is not deductable they would have to make 140 to 140 to net the 100. If somebody drops that kind of bucks they don't owe us anything. Do we need more of that. I'm telling you it won't work unless we do it.

Anonymous said...

I trust Billy Gunn. He really hasn't let us down yet. He's smart enough and straight enough to do it. We have to hope that Shuwanda is out sick that week.

Anonymous said...

Read the Town Talk editorial today. If the DA or the Sheriff or FBI acted on one tenth of the info the Town Talk gives us the era of ths Snake, et al would be over.

Anonymous said...

Just remember, keep this in perspective. $100,000 is nothing to most Alexandria physicians. Its like $1,000 to us common folks. Why not spend your walking around money to help your City?

Anonymous said...

I don't know that that's true. Sams has 2 kids in very expensive colleges and one kid in medical school. I don't think his practice is that great so that doesn't leave much walking arround money. Slatkin runs the largest internal medicine group in this area but he drives a Vespa, for god's sake.

It's a philosophical thing - it they pay for it they own it and that is exactly what we have now - arrogant sons-of-bitches that think it is there city. This should be our fight.

I finally saw this guy Rich Dupree on TV5 discussing the Pineville view of the future. No question he is the out-front guy - the FACE OF PINEVILLE.

Anonymous said...

Nice shot at Dupree, but try something else to wipe the SOUR taste of those GRAPES out of your mouth. All the bashing of Dupree, Carol Van Mol, and the Mayor himself couldn't muster an opponent to qualify to run a race against Mayor Fields or any of the City Council. Either let it go or move...but please move on from your hateful, unfounded shots a group of people who have the overwhelming support of the citizens they serve.

Anonymous said...

Well actually, I just read all the stuff about Dupree and the responses and finally saw him representing Pineville on TV. I really know nothing about and have nothing against Dupree and the Pineville city government.

However, let me take this opportunity to suggest that YOU are a paranoid lump of yack dung and should lighten up. What are you so jumpy about?

Anonymous said...

An alternative view: The re-election of the entire slate of Pineville officials doesn't change the fact that Carol VanMol lives in Alexandria or is stupid as a radish. It just means that Pinvevillians don't care anymore about thier city than they do about having the city sewerage system hooked up to their drinking water supply. Some people deserve bad government.

As a matter of Fact Scarlot I was abused as a child . By people I trusted by people who were not educated or qualified to do anything of value but who were in a position of authority over me amd liked to act like they were someone of greatness when in fact they were very common. They expected me to believe everything they said, praise them for things they were not responsible for and admire them for their "greatness" If I ever questioned them or expressed my realization of their phoneyness I was ostrosized and abused. So maybe that carries over now to the bafoons we have in positions of authority here in Pineville who spend more time patting themselves on the back for things they have nothing to do with than actually conceiving of ideas and seeing them through. People who through who they know rather than what they know find themselves in positons that allow them to act like they have achieved something and can tell us of their greatness..people Such as one Wolfman Jack Dupree. : )

Anonymous said...

If Abuse is defined as being taken advantage of by people who place themselves in authority over us then Scarlett we all are being abused INCLUDING you.

I think what we really need is another $400 a day add in the Town Talk for the Fricken TREE BOARD MEETING!!!...Wonder if DUMAR has that job too? MAYBGE wasting all that money buying senseless adds in the Town Talk for everything from WE WILL BE CLOSED AGAIN , to MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM CITY OFFICALS, to full Page MARTIN LUTHER KING Adds in the News Weekly is how Pvill buys the Puff adds from Bill Sumrall and the News Weekly........Isnt there some kind of conflict with a City Counsilman authorizing payments towards a board that his wife is the Chairman? Oh thats right Pineville, we dont worry about stuff like that cause we just want people to know what GOOOOD people we are . AND we love trees!!!! WASTE MY TAXES its OK

Anonymous said...

Look its NOT just in Alexandria where taxes are wasted and contracts are given to "friends". You just don't read about it in the Town Talk unless you read the minutes of the Pineville Board meetings. Who gets the contracts for things and who gives favors for elected officials are just as interesting on the Pineville side of the River as it is on our side. And that is NOT an opinion. One need only pay attention. AT LEAST Alexandria works under the guise of Planning and Vision Pinevilles idea of planning for the future is trying to keep from attaching the sewer lines to the water lines and getting water TO the developments of others.

Anonymous said...

Oh but there are FESTIVALS and Parades planned and of course MORE adds bought !!! So there is planning going on over in Pineville after all. Truth be told there is more planning and intellegent ideas going on north of Pineville in Ball , Louisiana. Hebron doesnt blow his own horn as much as Fields but he sure has growth in that area that appears to be PLANNED.

Avoyelles Parish Police Jury president arrested
By Tom Bonnette
tbonnette@thetowntalk.com

Avoyelles Parish Police Jury President Henry Hines was arrested early Sunday morning outside of the Bailey Hotel in Bunkie after an alleged argument with a hotel employee.

"He didn't want to drive and was waiting on a ride, and they had a few words," Bunkie Police Chief Mary Fanara said Wednesday.

Fanara said Hines, 39, was waiting on the ride after leaving a party at around 4 a.m. and was told by the employee the restaurant was closing.

According to police reports, the employee said Hines told her, "What if I don't want to leave, what are you going to do to me?" and told her that her problem was that she "needed to get some."
According to police reports, Hines then alledgedly called the employee a "bitch" and said "Your problem is that you haven't had any lately."

Hines allegedly grabbed the employee when she tried to call the police, the records state, but then allowed her to call. Hines left the hotel after the telephone call was made, police said.

Hines did not cooperate after police arrived and was arrested for disturbing the peace, simple battery and resisting an officer, police said.

Police took Hines to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office, where he was jailed and later released on $2,500 bail.

There was no indication by Bunkie Police or Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office reports that alcohol was a factor in the incident.

Hines said Wednesday he was just waiting for a ride and the entire incident was a misunderstanding. Hines also said he could neither confirm nor deny the actions or words attributed to him in the police report.

"I'm not saying that I did or did not do these things. She and I just had an argument, and a lot of things were said. She was rude to me, and that's about it," he said.

Officials with the Avoyelles Parish District Attorney Office said it is unlikely that Hines' arrest would affect his position as Police Jury president because the charges were misdemeanors.

If any action would be taken, it most likely would come as disciplinary sanctions from the Police Jury, officials said.

Police jurors refused to comment Wednesday on whether any disciplinary action or censure of Hines would result from his arrest.

Hines, the son of state Senate President Don Hines, was re-elected to his third term as Police Jury president in January 2005.

Hines was detained by police the night after his election on suspicion he was intoxicated after an accident in the parking lot of The Tiger Club on Main Street in Bunkie. He was not given a sobriety test because the accident happened in a private parking lot.

Anonymous said...

It really wasn't Hines' fault that the waitress "needed to get some".

Thanks for asking. I think the Town Talk was doing its job of reporting on the, at best, questionable antics of CFS. CFS, by the way, publicly complains about the press and public reviewing his public contract business. He says: "Y'all didn't do that when we was a white council". Swear to God - public statement from the Council chair. Uh Scarlett, this was discussed above. Do you read anyone else's posts or just your stuff. You keep missing the thread. I also note that you are a strong advocate of freedom of expression but keep criticizing the form of other's posts. I believe you also attacked someone for not being fluent in blog speak. I would be willing to bet that the arrest was BEFORE qualifying. Will be interesting to follow this one and see what kind of deal the paper prosecutor they have at Pvill City Court or our political DA will do with this . I bet NOTHING. Lets wait and see. Oh and I am not a prophet but did I not mention yesterday how the PVILLE Govt pays for their good stories in the Town Talk by buying senseless and unnecessary adds about everything from TREE BOARD MEETING to MLK DAY to We are closed for the Gazillionith day ?..Wellp...just as soon as they got through running a TREEBOARD Add for a whole week..we are NOW advertising that we will be closed on MONDAY!!!...Why would we need them to advertise that? Does the School Board or the Clerk of Court or the Sheriffs office take out such ads? NO . Dumar intellect!!! At work......No adds for Congratulating the PoE LEASE I bet.

Anonymous said...

Ummm ... wouldn't it be Clarence RAY Fields if they were talking about the mayor?

Anonymous said...

I stuck the Fields arrest article on this board but am advised that this felon is not related to our city's chief executive. I don't know, that's why I "axed".

Anonymous said...

It's not the same Clarence Fields you idiot. You obviously have an issue with Rich and Nathan that you need to seek some counseling for...perhaps even medication. You keep attacking the Tree Board Ads but your real problem is with those who make the decision to run them. You are barking up the wrong "tree". Pineville citizens seem to like that the city leaders keep them informed. They were all re elected with NO oposition. Get over it.

Trust me here Tioga, this brain surgeon that thinks our mayor is a felon, is the same intelligent soul that stands in line for Elvis tickets thinking its really ELVIS!

Anonymous said...

UH OH . The Defend Pineville officials no matter what they do wrong faction is riled up. They are only PEOPLE they are human and make mistakes. They are not GODS

I don't live in Pineville or have any interest in or knowledge about their government. My only observation is that the administration fans have a fierce loyalty and virtually no skill with the English language. The people from Pineville speak and write like the poor people of Appalachia. One would think that TV and other modern communications would have made a difference but obviously not there.

Are Dell computers still any good or have they gone the way of the others?

Anonymous said...

A rare straight answer for a rare straight question - Dell is not what it used to be. Service is way down and you talk to some foreigner with marginal English skills (like the Pinevillians) and you would do well to consider a Compaq or IBM. The deals on Dell are pretty good and when you buy a $389 computer, service becomes less of an issue. Consider a Mac???

Anonymous said...

Scarlett mah deah, I don't know about Pineville but when you call Dell tech support you better speak some Farsi.

Anonymous said...

Scarlett, I just noticed that your current smiley faces lack a nose. Is that related to the Kraft Paper Plant?

Anonymous said...

Clarence and Rosa Fields live on the corner of North Bend Drive and Legacy Loop in Legacy Pointe Subdivision off Pinehurst Drive in Pineville.
Do your homework before speaking: The person arrested is not the mayor, nor is there a relation.
Furthermore, Legacy Pointe is, by no means, a "nice upper class white neighborhood." This is a middle class, mixed-race neighborhood populated by Louisiana State Police troopers, Pineville police officers, Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office deputies, ATF and FBI agents, federal prison guards, retirees, an LSU AgCenter agent, at least three public school teachers, an air traffic controller, at least six registered nurses and two dieticians, entry-level and middle management at P&G and other area plants, and so forth. Most regular folks there are two-income households with no single income being over $40,000 per year.
As for the Fields' neighbors, they are complaining about how he has circumvented the neighborhood property owners' association covenants and city regulations by erecting a manufactured house (complete with electricity, AC/heat) in his back yard by classifying it as a "storage building." The covenants clearly state that all out-buildings must be of the same construction as the main house, which means slab foundation, brick, stucco and composite shingles.
So, start asking how it is that Fields skirted this by his city hall buddies by obtaining a variance.

Anonymous said...

While you people argue about whether Clarence lives in a middle class neiborhood, the snake is tightening his grip on Alexandria. His quest for campaign contributions has begun in earnest. Do any of you care?

Anonymous said...

While you are looking into the Clarence Fields estate...it could be very intersting to look at the courthouse to see if he got any special one might wonder if legal deals from the developers of the neighborhood development. The same Developers who might be dependent on approval from the City for such development. Its always interesting to check official records. And sometimes its interesting to check official records OF officials. NO RUMORS..only facts. Why not check out the facts. If you live in that neighborhood and have concerns about special priviledges for the Mayor why not start at the source at the courthouse. Might be enlightening. Ask anyone there at the courthouse they will know what you are asking for.

There will not be a run-off. Fuller will get 52% unless Roosevelt runs and peels off 10% of the black vote. The snake will probably get 55%. He's about to take the rookies to school with a $200,000 campaign financed by those who have become filthy rich at your expense. Mark this post because I'm afraid its very close to accurate.

Isn't there SOMETHING that can be done in Dist. 4 & 5 to inspire voter turnout. As has been observed here numerous times before, the Mayor doesn't really matter if we can somehow change the At-Large seat and there are 20,000 people in 4 & 5 who could make that difference.

Did anyone catch the radio show today? Was Delores Brewer on? If not, she's supposed to be on this week and I hope people will call in and ask some tough questions!

Anonymous said...

How about the boycott of arab-owned stores because they shot another robber. The police chief (not exactly an arab) determined it was justified, the investigation confirmed that and now it goes to the D A for review. These ministers are looking for trouble. That's too bad for everyone.

Anonymous said...

What good could Brewer possibly do if the council doesn't change. We would just be trading Ned for a ribbon-cutter with boobs.

Anonymous said...

I am told that Joe Fuller hates and can handle Myron and Charles. That may be the mayor that matters.

Anonymous said...

Well, when congress wouldn't do what he wanted them to do, Reagan went to the people directly and told them what was not happening and he sometimes was able to bully them into action. Brewer could do the same thing perhaps.

Anonymous said...

What's wrong with shooting a robber? They should all be shot!

Anonymous said...

Ask Nerine Day about by-passing the Council..On the other hand, Sams is clearly not the answer (although I think his boobs rival Brewers). The consensus is that the Council is the problem that desparately needs cure. Maybe Fuller is the only presently potential candidate that can make a difference. But, if Brewer shows she can handle Myron she gets my enthusiastic support - republican or not.
