It depends on what was not completely true.

If it were the meat of the matter then yes, but if it were some mundane fact then no.

Anonymous said...

That is what distresses me. If Jock wrote that he knowingly and purposely lied.

Jock, Albin, Wayne Denley, and Brenner are all of the royal family. Maybe that was the inspiration.

Anonymous said...

Roy spun the issues about Delores's husband and brother-in-law. Is that considered not completely true?

Anonymous said...

Would you feel that way if there existed a tape recording that includes discussion about issuing the infamous press release even though they knew it was false but issued to 'confuse" the public. How would you feel if you got to hear such a recording of just such a meeting ? Maybe there is. And if so maybe we all will hear it soon.

Anonymous said...

As far as I know, the info on husband and brother-in-law is factually accurate. I have heard nothing disputing it except a statement that John didn't really make that much and the brother-in-law is some rare breed of appraiser. Why are you just mentioning two scoops of the triple-dip?

Anonymous said...

Ask those in the know over at Brewer HQuarters if there was any discussion about "confusing" the public. See what they tell you.

Anonymous said...

Well, a tape of the plot would be very dramatic but WTF, we already know that the release was a smoke screen full of lies and attempts at race-baiting and distraction. We already have a smoking gun. Do we need a smoking howitzer?

Anonymous said...

lol. if a tape like that existed, at least give delores the delightful the chance to drop out and save some shred of dignity.

Anonymous said...

I think the only thing worse than telling a "misspeak" is doing it with full knowledge that its untrue but doing it with the intent of 'confusing" the public. What would that say about the character of those who did it ,if that is true?

Anonymous said...

it wouldn't change my opinion of delores the delightful one iota. tape or not, she knew the press conference was a pathetic sham.

Anonymous said...

Ask them if that is how it went down. Ask them who was there and what was discussed and about the
"pledge" of secrecy. Ask if they know what you are talking about. Nothing wrong with being inquisitive. Watch the look on their faces.

Anonymous said...

of course, delores would have to pack up her family and move out of state.....

Anonymous said...

I wonder if KALB would run such a tape if it existed. OR I guess it could just be played on here. If it existed. Couldn't it?

Anonymous said...

I have another tip that I think will be useful.

After you finish typing, click the "other" circle and put in a made up name instead of "Anonymous". It can be anything, such as: The name of your favorite cartoon character or superhero, or, "Brewer lover", "Jacques lover", "blogmaster", "hot-stuff","big dork", "huge goon", "mudflap", "shocker", "nadgargler", "teabagger", "salad tosser"... just to name a few.

It will make it easier to respond to you if you ask a question or make a statement that you think someone will respond to.

Thanks

There are those who will willingly hang on to the guard rail, as the good ship Brewer slips quietly under the waves for no other reason than it is a Republican ship.

There are Democrats who are just as blind to their party's shortcomings.

Take out the extremes at both ends and you have eliminated 15% of the total vote. What's left in the middle, 85% or so, is who matters. These voters are logical, well read, and have a life outside of politics.

They are also notoriously difficult to motivate. They have soccer, church, work, lawns to mow and kids to raise. They typically begin to pay attention to a campaign in the last 5 days or so and make a decision 48 hours out.

Survey says... the war that counts will begin right before the vote. Brewer's initial volley did no damage. When Roy returns fire it will be with deadly results. When the smoke clears, Roy will be your new mayor.

The feathers and bones have spoken.

Hi ho, hi ho! It's off to Julia's I go! Maybe some of those two-for-one margaritas will help clear up my confusion about all of this......Just think how much fun this blog would have been in the days of John K. Snider!

Anonymous said...

I must eat humble pie. "Waterslide Said", I owe you an apology. I was rude to suggest you could only grasp one topic per day. Your response indicates I seriously misread your entry to "tie the blogs". I have really enjoyed your entries............Again, I apologise!

Anonymous said...

Let's say, just for discussion, that you are a dumba--. Noone had a discussion about confusing the public, Jacko. Jock Scott is an honest, ethical human being. If he wrote that, he had his ducks in a row. You guys need to go to Julia's with whoever and drink yourself to sleep. Maybe you'll wake up with some common sense.

Anonymous said...

He didn't say there WAS a tape. He just asked "What if there were a tape?"

Delores definitely wanted to confuse the voters. Why would it be so surprising to hear someone close to her stating that was their aim?

Anonymous said...

If the release was written by Jock and he is an ethical truthful forthright individual, he will certainly come forward and acknowledge his authorship or participation. Let's start there. Let Jock put his name, reputation, and future on the line with that release.

I have given that guy money and made phone calls for weeks in support of his ambitions. I would never have done so had I known that he was capable of this degree of blatant dishonesty. My family and I would have followed that Jock Scott into hell, but not THIS Jock Scott.

Anonymous said...

Civil, I know that the entire Roy campaign is and always has been convinced of Jock Scott's authorship of that release. I don't know what information they have but it is sufficient to leave them without a shred of doubt. Please note that the Brewer camp keeps saying that "if Jock said it, he had all his ducks in a row." Never a denial, just a hedge.

Anonymous said...

Nobody said Jock was dishonest, or a vile human being for writing Brewers statement for her. Just realize that Jock IS a politician. Politics is a game of perception.

I know for a fact that Jock wrote the statement...I heard him admit it.

Perhaps in Jock's mind, the it's an attempt to create a perception where his candidate will have a chance of winning.

Anonymous said...

I believe that if Jock authorized that release, he knew that he was lying. That is not a matter of perception, it's a matter of honesty. I don't really give a screaming shit about Brewer, her dishonesty is a well-known matter of public record. But if Jock would do this to Roy and his profession and his father's profession and his community he has made an enemy out of me, and not a silent bashful subdued enemy but a real vocal foe.

Anonymous said...

Delores, your bullshit lies backfired. We are not as stupid as you look.

Anonymous said...

Well, back from Julia's! Unfortunately that margarita didn't help me understand any of this stuff.........I'll just have to admit being an idiot. What is an idiot to do, who to vote for mayor? I know!!!!!!! I will call the Brewer Camapign Headquarters and seek the truth.......Easy fix!

Jock Scott's big heartburn thru all this shit w/ the city...starting w/ the three amigos has been bridget brown and her contingency fee contract (hence the dis in DB's press conference piece) and the CLECO audit (hence the dis in DB's press conference piece)...Jock will not rest until the contingency fee contracts are overturned and CLECO is audited. He is NOW using DB's campaign to accomplish HIS goals

Anonymous said...

Didnt Jock already stabbed Ned when he sued the City for firing Harold, Sonny and Darryl and implied that Ned was impaired. Now he is working side by side with Albin and Delores? Something seems fishy about that . Is Debra Randolph still supporting Delores? I would be surprised if that working with Jock would not be hard to do

Anonymous said...

Jock wanted to mediate between the city and cleco and submitted a proposal. He was very surprised and disheartened when he was told he was not needed. Remember when the city hired Cole Gahagan to investigate the firings of the 3 amigos and he never even got started before they ran him off and settled with Jock for a paltry sum. Jock coulda been a contenda.

Here we go. It's as predictable as night and day. Someone's name is mentioned as possibly being for Delores or even a friend to Delores and here comes the Trash Machine. Wow Biff, a highpowered gun, an operative, a strategist, a maker of kings. Congratulations. I guess you can't be just a citizen who is interested in Alexandria and tired of the Brewer dishonesty.

On the Jock thing: if he didn't engineer the fibathon for Delores then God bless him. If he did, that he has done her AND those of us who have consistently supported and believed in him, a major disservice.

I find the number of reliable people confirming his participation in that press scam very convincing. Call one of the Roy guys like Jacques, Chris, or John and I think they will convince you.

Do you know why he wrote that editorial? Because nobody reads that toilet-rag. He jumped on the Clown Talk bandwagon to up his popularity. It is that simple. Are you gonna get a subscription now?

anon. 10.42.58. just for the record. you may recall i supported sams. i felt he was most likely to bring meaningful change to city hall and the council. obviously, not many voters agreed with me. that aside, i am equally convinced roy is most likely to bring about a regime change and best equipped to lead alexandria into the future. having said that, i find it interesting that you can not fathom a private citizen supporting a candidate with out some strings attached, or a vested interest. that is kinda sad on your part, but i think representative of the delores supporters. please allow me to state that i am nothing more than a private citizen, and do not represent roy or his campaign in any capacity. i have never been to his headquarters, i have not seen, much less talked to roy, anyone involved in his campaign or any of his supporters since this campaign started. i am doing what i perceive to be the best for the future of alexandria. i suspect that is an alien concept to you.

My greed.” When reminded that foes might call him a prostitute, Fletcher dryly asserts, “I know who I am.”

Anonymous said...

For those of you who have not read the Northside Journal's editorial on Delores Brewer, here it is.

Since Mayor Ned Randolph announced that he would not run for re-election I have expressed my opinion on the Mayor’s race only once. In that editorial I pointed out that there were 4 candidates in the race, who would undoubtedly continue the corruption associated with Alexandria City Hall.
It’s a well known, but little talked about, fact that sweetheart deals, nepotism, invoice padding, consultant family members, all slosh around in the cesspool that City Hall has become.
I also pointed out that two of the candidates were not part of this cadre of corruption and would probably clean house if elected.
Well here we are folks, one of the house cleaners verses one of the old guard in the run-off. The choice could not be more clear, and the old guard is running scared.
Last week, in an attempt to get people to notice her campaign, Delores Brewer called a press conference to announce that she is still running for mayor. That alone says volumes about the political shape she is in.
At her conference, she read from a prepared statement assuring the gathered faithful that she would indeed keep her word and not “go negative” during the run-off. Then she proceeded to attack her opponent, accusing Jacques Roy of prospering from contracts that others have with the City of Alexandria, something that is factually incorrect. She also attempted to explain away her lying to the City Council by saying she could not speak in confidence to the City’s attorney about a meeting with another of the city’s attorneys.
Wait folks, it gets better.
In her statement Ms. Brewer condemns a local attorney for signing a contingency contract with the City of Alexandria. She also says if she is elected Mayor, she will cancel those contracts. The question arises, why didn’t she recommend the cancellation of these contracts when she was Chief of Staff to Mayor Randolph? Why the sudden conscience?
It would seem that Ms. Brewer’s position on policy changes with her political fortune.
What the media and the public saw last Thursday was desperate posturing at it’s best. Her high priced political operative may have come to the game too late to help a campaign in it’s final death throws.
Wise political observers believe that Ms. Brewer has gathered all the votes she can and there isn’t enough of them to elevate her to the Mayor’s chair. Those die hard supporters of Alexandria’s ruling elite will eventually be forced to make way for a younger generation of leader.
Will the old guard go quietly? Not a chance. The tide has shifted and voters know that the old guard will do anything, say anything to retain their lofty positions. Over the coming weeks you will see and hear the most outrageous claims as they attack a younger generation of leaders. You will hear the most sincere promises of good government and house cleaning as they attempt to hold on to their power.
The voters don’t believe a word of it.
What we are witnessing is no less than a transfer of political power from one generation to another. Like a senile relative who stayed too long at the party, the old guard will have to be shown the door, they won’t leave on their own, and they won’t go quietly.

I don't recall being attacked by Iraq ? However, I do recall being attacked by Iran, and we were too chicken shit to do anything about it. Go blow your brainwashed patriotism elsewhere and be a good little Nazi.

HR 6166 - I MUST be missing something hidden in the fine print - this bill authorizes trial by military commission for violations of the of war and for other purposes. Specificially it -

- Authorizes the President to establish military commissions to try detained enemy combatants (Sec. 948b (b))

- Specifies that enemy combatants are not able to invoke rights under the Geneva Convention (Sec. 948b (g))

- Stipulates that no one may be forced to testify against themselves, statements obtained through torture are inadmissible, and allows “statements obtained before enactment of Detainee Treatment Act of 2005” to be used in certain circumstances (Sec. 948r)

- Creates rules, guidelines and procedures for the trial and sentencing phases of military commissions (Sec. 949a-o & Sec. 949s-u)

- Prohibits courts, justices, or judges from hearing or considering writs of habeas corpus or any other action filed by or on the behalf of detained enemy combatants (Sec. 7(e(1)(2)))

I BELIEVE this was written to deal with some of these so called terrorists we have locked up at Gitmo. Now if the intent is to begin to use this to start pulling in US citizens and interrogating them before military commissions in the name of homeland security, well then I have a problem.

On to read the next bill ...

HR 4844 - this bill basically requires that we show a government issued ID to vote in federal elections. The only two idiots that voted against it are Melancon and Jefferson. I can understand Jefferson voting against it - crap most people know half the time in New Orleans they don't verify who is the voting box - didn't they find that dead people voted one year?

I don't understand why we need this bill since we already have to show photo id to vote. This just sounds like duplication.

What about it Biff? Rodney didn't write the letters, the bimbo here in Alexandria did. When Rodney found out about it, he fired her ass. What more could he do?

Word is she got help to get another political job. Silence

Anonymous said...

After reading all the way through 4844, I can't see where you have to "apply" to vote. We're already required to REGISTER to vote. Is there any difference? It does not remove our inherit right.

Anonymous said...

yes it allows the president to declare whoever he wants to be enemy combatants including american citizens. it also has a provision for those that violate their "allegience" to the government not the constitution. and thanks for looking that up. heres an excerpt of an interview with george washington school of law professor jonathan turley:

Keith Olbermann & Constitutional
Law Prof Jonathan Turley
On Military Commissions Act
MSNBC
10-18-6

To assess what this law will truly mean for us all, I'm joined by Jonathan Turley, professor of constitutional law at George Washington University.

As always, sir, great thanks for your time.

JONATHAN TURLEY, GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY CONSTITUTIONAL LAW PROFESSOR: Thanks, Keith.

OLBERMANN: I want to start by asking you about a specific part of this act that lists one of the definitions of an unlawful enemy combatant as, quote, "a person who, before, on, or after the date of the enactment of the Military Commissions Act of 2006, has been determined to be an unlawful enemy combatant by a combatant status review tribunal or another competent tribunal established under the authority of the president or the secretary of defense."

Does that not basically mean that if Mr. Bush or Mr. Rumsfeld say so, anybody in this country, citizen or not, innocent or not, can end up being an unlawful enemy combatant?

TURLEY: It certainly does. In fact, later on, it says that if you even give material support to an organization that the president deems connected to one of these groups, you too can be an enemy combatant.

And the fact that he appoints this tribunal is meaningless. You know, standing behind him at the signing ceremony was his attorney general, who signed a memo that said that you could torture people, that you could do harm to them to the point of organ failure or death.

So if he appoints someone like that to be attorney general, you can imagine who he's going be putting on this board.

OLBERMANN: Does this mean that under this law, ultimately the only thing keeping you, I, or the viewer out of Gitmo is the sanity and honesty of the president of the United States?

TURLEY: It does. And it's a huge sea change for our democracy. The framers created a system where we did not have to rely on the good graces or good mood of the president. In fact, Madison said that he created a system essentially to be run by devils, where they could not do harm, because we didn't rely on their good motivations.

Now we must. And people have no idea how significant this is. What, really, a time of shame this is for the American system. What the Congress did and what the president signed today essentially revokes over 200 years of American principles and values.

It couldn't be more significant. And the strange thing is, we've become sort of constitutional couch potatoes. I mean, the Congress just gave the president despotic powers, and you could hear the yawn across the country as people turned to, you know, "Dancing with the Stars." I mean, it's otherworldly.

Dontcha' remember - that bad ol' saddam threatened his daddy so George W gotta go get 'em. Kinda' like when Morgan comes and defends his lyin' momma.

Anonymous said...

anyone quoting Keith Olbermann is a quack. You must be one of the two people that actually watch that idiot's show

Anonymous said...

having to apply for a federal i.d. card is the same as applying for permission to vote.

Anonymous said...

Well then so is registering to vote.

If you don't do one or the other, it's simple - you can't vote.

Anonymous said...

sure you can whatever you want about keith olbermann but what about his guest jonathan turley the law professor?

Anonymous said...

More proof George W. is a complete idiot! He pulled some crap, exercising his "constitutional authority" and struck the requirements for the FEMA director to have EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE!!!! Now they just have to have 5 years of management experience. Does he have another Michael Brown hanging out somewhere that he owes a family favor to?????

Oh - I guess I'll be subjected to that military tribunal now.

Anonymous said...

Looks like Tom Jefferson, George Washington and Patrick Henry could have problems as not being patriotic, just like Jesus Christ could not be an employee at Louisiana College because he drank wine.

Anonymous said...

Guess the federal government doesn't want to be altered or abolished, as the founding fathers wrote in the Declaration of Independence.

I could see Mary Jo's husband marrying her first cousin because he was a judge but how did Mary Jo marry her first cousin?

Anonymous said...

That arabic way of life is just dayum confusing. Maybe it is budweiser time.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Mary Jo is a lady priest or preacher and is empowered by the state of kansas to marry her first cousin?

Anonymous said...

Don't them pissen palians have lady priest? They all divorced catholics anyhow. Maybe Mary Jo is a pisser palian.

Anonymous said...

The Mansours are Roman Catholic. Just curious, anon 5:12:11 PM, but what did Mary Jo and Episcopalians ever do to you?

Anonymous said...

I don't even know the people. Maybe I am fortunate or maybe I am not. A previous poster said Mary Jo married her first cousin. Somebody said that is insect. Then somebody said no she married her first cousin. Then she would have to be legally empowered to marry her cousin either by the government or by the church. So did she marry her first cousin and the offspring are different or is she a pissen palian priest or judge and married her first cousin? The question has never been answered. Sounds like a blue haired plot to me.

Anonymous said...

And why must someone have done something to someone for someone to search for the truth and the light. The quest for klnowledge is ever eternal and understanding a simple sentence such as Mary Jo married her first cousin which has many many different ramifications is but one step on the journey of knowledge.

Anonymous said...

this is all so confusing. if you get a divorce in grant parish, are you still brother and sister?

Anonymous said...

Possibly. Only if your Grandmother was your sister-in-law.

In LaSalle parish you are if before the divorce your brother bought you a set of teeth.

Did anyone see the new Brewer tv commercial during the news on KALB-TV just now? Oh my goodness. She talks about her rape by the garden district rapist and makes an analogy--saying Jacques Roy essentially attacked her again in the primary election. I guess this is a direct attempt to pick female voters off of Jacques. But wow--I've never seen anything as low as this. Fletcher all the way, man.

Anonymous said...

That is the number one worst TV spot I've ever seen in any election anywhere. I too, was a victim of a violent crime. I think it is dispicable to use this to gain sympathy and therefore votes. In fact, Mrs. Brewer just lost mine. Plus, whether you like him or not, comparing Mr. Roy's campaigning to the rapist's actions is just sick.

Anonymous said...

omigoodness! tell me the last two posts were just joshing. everytime i think delores can't sink to a new low, she proves me wrong.

Anonymous said...

civil..... this one leaves me speechless. wow. wow. wow.

Anonymous said...

Why is she doing that? Bad move...

Anonymous said...

It's very real, watch again in the 10 p.m. news on KALB-TV. It is scheduled to air again.

Anonymous said...

did kalb make any commentary?

Anonymous said...

I little birdie told me it was a close call about whether the station would air it or not due to the content. But that the message was achieved thru innuendo--plus there is the "paid for by Brewer for Mayor campaign" disclaimer. So they held their noses and let it go.

Anonymous said...

oic. it ran as a commercial, not as news. thanks.

Anonymous said...

is it just me, or is the word "pathological" cropping up with anyone else?

Anonymous said...

Many will recall that on July 8, 1947, witnesses claim an unidentified object with five aliens aboard crashed on a sheep and cattle ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico.

This is a well known incident that many say has long been covered up by the US Air Force and the federal government.

However, you may well NOT know that in the month of March 1948, exactly nine months after that historic day, Albert Arnold Gore, Jr.; Hillary Rodham; John F. Kerry; William Jefferson Clinton; Howard Dean; Nancy Pelosi; Dianne Feinstein; Charles E. Schumer; and Barbara Boxer were born.

That piece of information has now cleared up a lot of things.

Anonymous said...

Happy trails to you until we meet again.. Why can't D. Brewer take a hint and make a graceful exit from this mayoral race? She, her family and supporters have become the laughingstock of Cenla. If by some strange twist of fate and she should win, it will be a return to the days of John K. Snider. Then Alexandria will the be the laughingstock of all of Louisiana.

Anonymous said...

IMO, it's pretty common knowledge among some circles about her being one of the victims of the garden district rapist and that she bravely testified against the guy. Nothing wrong with talking about that in relation to fighting crime, etc.--but to compare the rape to Mr Roy's campaigning against her is outrageous and morally wrong, IMHO. Roy Fletcher and his client are real pieces of work.

Anonymous said...

I just talked to my mother who saw that commercial. She said it was "shocking".

Anonymous said...

Hey, I was born in March, 1948! Now I understand why I was such the better child than my siblings. Oh well, doesn't matter much now, I was in the human parental units' will for an equal share just like their actual offspring........

Anonymous said...

i ain;t able to speak right now b/c my pie hole is stuck open from the jaw-dropping what happened when i seen that there tv commercial!

Anonymous said...

to anon: 7:29:36 PM

hey thats a great piece of trivia. is that for real or just made up?

Anonymous said...

Apparently Delores supports the raping of us by her family and backers.

Anonymous said...

How could she talk about a rape and Jacques in the same commercial? I agree that to discuss the rape in relation to crime would make sense, but THIS??! This is awful and a much lower blow than I thought imaginable.

Anonymous said...

Yeh, I have to agree. Now, mind you, I have not seen the commercial yet. But, if is what you guys say, then I too am shocked. However, if she did not use that unfortunate incident in her life to discuss a "get tough" stance on crime, then her camp is really dumb!

Anonymous said...

anon 7:17--that's interesting, but I am still surprised KALB let this air. It is horrible that Mrs. B was raped but there is NO way to justify comparing that to Roy. This is not the way for a woman to successfully run for office, IMHO. I think this will backfire, bigtime.

Anonymous said...

When you see it, you will understand the reaction here. No hyperbole in the description of the ad. You will be stunned.

Anonymous said...

lawdee this better be a good commercial.

Anonymous said...

New TV ad seems like the perfect subject for the next Northside Journal editorial. Can't wait to read it.
