And so most stories begin (or it was a cold, dark night ... but I am trying to look ahead here), Jacques has come out of the gates with a good start. The race however is a 4 year stretch. Will he change the face of Alexandria politics? Will it be better or worse?
Perhaps this blog might be used by the citizens of Alexandria to impart our wants and desires to our new adminstration. If you want investigations, ask for them here. If you want something brought to Alexandria ask here.
Why doesn't everyone on this blog say or do something positive on this thread? We can get back to the slaughterhouse next thread.

Scarlett,
I believe you when you state that you know nothing of a plan to confuse the voters about Cleco.
However, this plan does, in fact, exist, and as we all witnessed during Mrs. Brewer's press conference and her television commercial, the plan was executed.
If I were you, I would be thankful that I was not included on this discussion. There are several components of this plan that were obviously intended to confuse the voters: the implication that Roy stood to financially benefit from ratepayer refunds (false), the notion that one could sign a "pledge" to undo these contracts (a violation of at least two provisions of our city's charter), and the statement that EMS stood to gain between 50%- 85% of ratepayer refunds (false. Mrs. Brewer's signature appears on a fact sheet from March 7, 2006 that reduced that agreement down to 20%).
If Mr. Scott has specific information as to why these contracts are illegal, then he has a civic obligation to inform the public in detail. So far, however, we have only been told that they're illegal, without any analysis or explanation.

Let me give Scarlett and easier question. Scarlett, if HYPOTHETICALLY a meeting were campaign big shots including bankers, and lawyers and neighbors and friends of the candidate were present and the leader of a the meeting were say hypothetically a lawyer and that lawyer handed out a written plan and stood up and said that to win this election we will put out information that says that Roy is tied to Cleco and will get $$$ from Cleco settlement and that we will throw David Pugh into the mix with his company and give out false numbers that are wrong and attempt to demonize Pugh and Roy and someone else in the room spoke up and said, But that isnt true and the Atty leading the meeting HYPOTHETICALLY said. IT DOESNT MATTER IF ITS TRUE WE WANT TO CONFUSE THE PEOPLE AND DISCOURAGE BLACKS FROM VOTING and if the Candidate sitting there HYPOTHETICALLY said," YE lets confuse the voters" and a banker sitting there agreed and then a plan was made to have a "press conference" wherein Roy and Pugh were called Money Changers and insinuated that they were crooks all the while knowing that the information they were putting out was false . AND they even wrote out their plan and put numbers on the documents . And what if there was hypothetically a RECORDING of the meeting where all of the above took place. Tell me Scarlett if that HYPOTHETICAL meeting took place and that plan occurred would you be DISGUSTED and think it WRONG? Hypothetically speaking? Tell us what you would feel about a candidate that HYPOTHETICALLY did that. Please tell us would you say that was wrong? Would that type of Action be consistent with Republican philosophy as you understand it? HYPOTHETICALLY? And would you blame someone who was a victim of such planned misinformation from seeking just the JUDICIAL conclusion that you spoke so fondly of earlier? Can or will you answer this hypothetical question please.

Lamar, you seem to know about it. TELL US EVERYTHING!!!
Lamar,
Can you rationalize how Roy could even consider Sansing for an Admin job? Doesn't this look and/or smell bad? Re-read your skunk flyer from the primary if necessary.
I am forced to ask this question even though I did vote for Roy; both times!

Why no response I wonder.
Michelle do you know ANYTHING about this stuff?
In response to the questions about Sam Sansing,
Mr. Roy thinks that although Sansing would make an excellent utilities director, there are many legal issues that would prevent Sansing becoming the director.
You should listen to his complete remarks on the issue on the Town Talk: http://www.thetowntalk.com/assets/wav/DK498941112.WAV
By the way, the smell test piece was about using government connections to score lucrative contracts that would enrich one's family.
the facts are obvious. delores and company purposely decided to engage knowingly in lies. proving it is another thing. *if* a document or tape exists *and* the clown talk or kalb won't act on it, send it to northside. because such activity needs to be outed and those that participated need to be outed for the shame factor alone. that aside, concentrate on the positive. the voters of this city did not buy it, and justice prevailed. delores and co. got the pimp slapping they deserved.
Michelle doesnt listen to this shit anymore..if you have a legit issue and think the good people of cenla need to hear it call her with your name and identify youself...I have called her plenty of time to complain and she rarely changes anything but always listens.
Thanks for the tip, Lamar. Listened to the audio. Apparently Jacques has done a thorough executive search to find the best person to fill the utility director post -- his client Sam Sansing. To quote The Town Talk recording "indeed I think he's the most qualified person to do it." Come on. The most qualified? Sure there may be current legal issues standing in the way, but they can disappear in a heart beat. Jacques needs to look beyond his nose and his circle of supporters for a person capable of running a business that grosses well over $100 million a year. Here's a novel idea -- let's advertise in some trade publications. Let's look to trade associations. To paraphrase one of Jacques' ads -- Let's not go back to the politics of old and reward friends and family with jobs.
There were people at the Brewer steering committee meeting in question who will tell the truth about what was said. A handful of people left that meeting and NEVER came back to DB's camp. They were horrified about the strategy that was launched there and wanted NO part of it. You know who two of them are, but there are others who bailed that day as well.
Billy Gunn is aware of this meeting. But he was reluctant to report it in detail prior to the election. That is typical of newspapers. The closer to the election, the less likely they are willing to report explosive allegations. They don't want to mistakenly put something out there without checking it out only later to discover it's not true. Especially in light of the negative campaigns waged these days. Now that the election is over, the TT and KALB-TV may be more willing to do investigative stories re: those involved in the campaigns. However, they probably won't be that eager to tear at Brewer since she lost so badly. Wonder if they'll be interested if ethics violations and misconduct of attorneys present at that meeting were uncovered?
I think the media would report on it if lawsuits were filed as well. But I gotta wonder if lawsuits are what this community needs right now. Roy won so big--what more could he want? Ah, but there's Mr. Pugh, Mr. Sansing and others who might want justice as well.
Did anyone notice that Mr. Provosty was absent from that Brewer press conference when she slammed CLECO contracts and waived her bogus pledge? IMHO, that's because he knew that stuff she spouted was false. There was no way he was gonna set foot in there and be with her that day. But there was no way he was gonna advise her not to do that in deference to the current administration. Oh no, once Fletcher claimed it could turn things around for Brewer, Provosty took to the shadows and let it all unfold. After all, he had big bucks on the line with his golden haired "chosen" mayoral candidate. Nice guys, these blue bloods.
Oh, I apologize. I was supposed to say something nice. Yes, I agree that each person is entitled to his or her opinion. I enjoy reading the posts on this blog. Have a nice friggin' day.
Hey, I feel certain Scarlett didn't know about the strategy from the inside out. I heard those things were held close to the vest. Polls were never shared, and information was heavily guarded. By the time it was all packaged up and Scarlett heard the Brewer story about CLECO and the contracts, etc, she probably believed it was accurate. Until this info was disputed, how would Scarlett and company have known it was BS? Many people in that camp were misled in so many ways. So, you guys give Scarlett a break! She's a nice lady. P.S. Send her a copy of the fact sheets and a copy of the CLECO strategy. She'll wake up and smell the coffee. We can and will save her!
but i would like her answer to it.
IF those facts that were hypothetically given are true WOULD she agree that was bad and WOULD she say that she would support someone for office that did was was Hypothetically given as fact and is THAT the acceptable way that Republicans run for election. Simple enough. She has not been shy about giving her opinions on other issues and she does seem to represent the voice of Republicans and of good people caught in a losing campaign. I just want to hear here take on it.
It seems you people are only interested in picking scabs. Captain Obvious would say politics is dirty. Reputations get muddied and feelings get hurt. If you can't take it without crying foul over spilled ink or repeatedly threatening lawsuits, don't play.
So let's be grown-ups and move on. If not, start a "scablog" of your own so you can pick at each other's sores to your hearts content. In the meantime, spare the rest of us.
Did anyone ever determine the sequence of events on Sansing's separation from Cleco and his offer to the city to blow Cleco's cover?
We Heard That, I don't agree that lies and deception are acceptable components of political campaigns and, like most dishonest acts, if you are caught, there should be, and usually are consequences. If we think that we can be a part of a travesty like Brewers and walk away without a price then we might be tempted to try it or advocate it or promote it again.
Scarlett dealt in treachery and was warned numerous times on this blog. Now she wants her treachery to be forgotten and she wants to be treated like she wasn't an active part of the Brewer shameful conduct. I personally have more respect for those who acknowledge that they were taken for a ride and apologize to those who they intentially injured.
You don't get a scab 'tll it starts to heal.
"It seems you people are only interested in picking scabs."
Oh Puhleeze, We Heard That. This is a very relevant conversation. The point is that too many supporters of candidates become convinced that ANY accusation against their candidate is false and that the opponent is evil. Voters need to be much more willing to do their homework and determine what is true or not rather than turning a blind eye just because they made an early decision to support someone. Only then, can a voter make a truly informed decision before casting a vote. Some in the Brewer camp became convinced that if she said something it must be true just because they LIKED her. Others who knew the truth or who sought the truth about what Brewer was saying bailed out. A third group who knew the truth stuck with her anyway for their own monetary reasons. Those people didn't care about the truth. IMHO, Scarlett falls in the first group. She decided to support Brewer because she liked her. She later turned a blind eye and refused to believe that Brewer would be less than truthful in her press conference and TV spots. She probably also bought in to the rhetoric Brewer spouted about Mr. Roy being an evil money changer.
Yes, Scarlett, you have the right to support anyone you want in America. But it is sad that you choose your candidates so blindly.
Scarlett, it's not contempt for what you did - it's contempt for what you are. You appear to lack the substance or character or ethic to care who you hurt as long as you satisfy your cloying social status need. You typify your kind in that now accept no responsibility for the wrongs you have done or the people you have hurt. You are a shallow person and it appears that people are willing to overlook your distructive ignorance because of it. You're just old flakey Scarlett.
You don't understand or care about the people of this community. You will jump in and participate in a fun function like a concert of tea party for the arts. But you really don't care about the arts - you care about the tea party. I hope that understanding this about yourself will make you, if not smarter, quieter.
Scarlett dealt in treachery…
If that isn’t beyond over-the-top, I don’t know what is.
Both campaigns had “players” and strategies, kids, and most volunteers and supporters were clueless as to what actually went on in the back rooms. Volunteers with the Brewer campaign are sick over what they’ve come to learn, although details remain elusive. Nevertheless, would Roy supporters be equally sick upon learning that a similar strategy was considered in Roy’s back room? Was there “a fly on the wall” there, too?
scarlett, if it's any consolation, some on the blog have gone beyond the pale in their posts about you. just hang tight. remember they are a vocal minority. i get the impression that some on this blog would line up the 2000 that voted for delores and shoot them at dawn.
Obvious From The Start, you are obviously a blithering idiot. Scarlett’s background IS IN THE MUSIC ARTS!!! Put your obvious jealousy, of her considerable accomplishments, on hold would you, please???
I was often in Roy's "backroom" and I never heard any mention of deliberate deception. In fact, the discussion was most often about how to make sure the voters knew the truth and did not believe the lies that were being spread.
It is true that Brewer's camp made a decision to use deception as a campaign tactic. It is unfortunate that she agreed to do so, but that was her decision. Now she must live with it.
Some will say, its over, why bring up the past? Why should the media run stories on this? The answer is simply. If it is publically exposed, it may stop this pattern in the future. Pols would be less likely to lie if they feared public exposure.
I have learned that If you use bold and/or capital letters to accentuate a word then it makes it true.
My ass is HAIRY.
It worked!
I’m a fairly recent reader of this blog and haven’t contributed until now – my first and last comment. I would call this site a sewer, but that would insult sewers… that actually serve communities. This site only serves over-inflated egos in serious need of meds.
Inside Out, were you really in the back room, or did you just think you were? Some people believe they’re in the back room only to find they’re not even in the building.
Capt Protocol, you’re nothing of the sort. Change your name to Beavis or Butt-Head.
Maybe I can just change my name to anonymous.
Once the truth is out, people usually move on. It's out now, at least on this blog. So, now, we can move past it. I agree that over 9,000 voters chose not to believe it and voted to move past it on Nov. 7. That's the best testament to the truth anyone could ask for.
It's ridiculous to comment that someone wants to line up the 2000 Brewer voters...how un American to even suggest such a thing.
But I do have some words of advice to those who are still sore at people who voted against Brewer and for Roy. You should get over it if you expect the new mayor to work with you to make our city a better place. If you don't wish to work with the new administration because your person didn't win, then I must question your commitment to our community. The election is over. It's time to put our emotions behind us and roll up our sleeves and get to work.
The TRUTH is out? I haven't seen those papers. I haven't heard a recording of that HYPOTHETICAL meeting. All I have heard is one or two people demanding apologies for some one exercising their God given right to vote for whomever they choose. What arrogance.
Anon 10:49 I haven't heard anyone say they were sore at people who voted against Brewer and for Roy. All I've heard is contempt for people who voted the other way. Don't you think they should get over it and act like good citizens.
I have several observations to make regarding post-election posts. First, attacks upon Scarlett, or any other Brewer supporters, were exactly what Jacques asked in his victory speech not to happen. As our mayor-elect stated, its time to all work together for our city.
Second, their seems to be a lot of early arm chair quarterbacking here, where many are critisizing Jacques' appointees before he has even appointed or named them. We elected Jacques our mayor, let's give him a chance to make appointments as he sees fit and see how they work out. It's too early to moan and groan when when there is no cause to do so. Hopefully, there will never been cause.
Lastly, if individuals feel that they were wronged by something done or said during the recent campaign, it is up to those people to decide what, if any, action is to be taken. If actions are taken, they will be decided by the appropriate legal authorities, not by this blog.
Many of you jump to conclusions based upon unfounded inuendo posted anonymously on this blog. I urge you to get facts, or at least rely upon fact, when posting information. Name calling and insults do little to aid and bring about good government, without facts.
So keep asking questions and watching our government, but more would be accomplished by informed citizens armed with facts and a true desire for effective and honest government.
Anon 10:49:08 AM, I don’t think anyone with any sense disagrees with the substance of your post. However, any lingering anger seems to be coming from Roy supporters and aimed directly at those who were steadfastly loyal to Brewer. Are the Roy supporters taking their “pound of flesh,” or are they protesting too much? And, what of Brewer loyalists? Are they truly indecent people, or did they simply resist behaving like rats fleeing a sinking ship?
Scarlett and others, when they innocently pledged their support for Brewer, never dreamed the campaign’s strategists would take it in the direction they did. In fact, some valiantly tried to stop it. Moreover, they remain unconvinced the strategists were, on the whole, deceitful. As well, they are still of the belief that Brewer’s gaff at the infamous City Council meeting was not a display of an inherent lack of honor, but a misguided attempt to protect her boss.
Dizzy - Not sure what your post meant, but I am sure this was as backroom as it gets. Afraid you will have to trust me on this one.
Anyone hear the rumor that Charles Fredrick is considering a run for Sheriff?
He said the sheriff is near.

Roy Statement on Transition
kalb snip:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TO ALL MEDIA
November 14, 2006
The transition blueprint is born of my campaign commitments to inclusive, controlled growth of our City. The organization will operate with a funneling effect, but also with a built-in check in the committee structure and use of key experts. We want a free agent group who can ensure that “groupthink” does not set in to foreclose other ideas-to get the most ideas and then separate from those the best ideas.

How can Jay Luneau be on this committee? He is currently representing someone who has a lawsuit pending against the City.
Pugh and Sansing both on the transition team. maybe Delores was right.
Closing delayed on Hotel Bentley
By Billy Gunn
bgunn@thetowntalk.com
(318) 487-6378
The CEO of the Baton Rouge company trying to purchase the Hotel Bentley said the group has moved the closing date of the sale.
John Schneider, chief executive officer of Cyntreniks Hospitality Co. LLC, said the company moved its stated closing deadline of Wednesday to Dec. 15.
Overall a good group. Sad to see former and current Cleco employees in the mix. Given all the background, it just doesn't look good.
town talks version:
Roy names transition team
Mayor-elect Jacques Roy retreated over the weekend to New Orleans to confer with close associates to work out a transition team.
What started as a list of 30 to 40 ended up being almost 60 people to head the transition. Below are the names of the volunteers and the headings under which they’ll work.
Names missing in the list were reserved for those who have not confirmed their participation.

All this talk about secret meetings triggered some half dead brain cxells into action. Ya'll remember this post by Sooth?
Take a look at the date...
I have emerged from consultation with other voices in Cenla and they tell me that Brewer knew from the night of the primary election that she had no hope of winning the run-off. She felt that she had been positioned by the “powers that be” to become the first female mayor of Alexandria. Sources also tell me that she had already planned her 2007 agenda for LMA visits to other mayors out of town. She believed that she had the election in hand. Her handlers did not count on another credible white candidate in the race. They discounted Sams as un-electable.
When Roy entered the race and shot into the lead, the Brewer camp panicked. With no real political advisor to lead them, they floundered. Their Florida political expert was blindsided by the aggressive style of Louisiana politics. The Brewer camp had resigned to a 4th place finish and had actually prepared a statement for her to read on election night reflecting her poor finish. The Breweristias were shocked that she made the run-off, but knew that the Roy campaign was digging for the truth and would be relentless in exposing her.
She felt that her rightful place as Mayor had been stolen by Roy and others who should never have been in the race to begin with. On the advice of Albin, the camp decided to get rid of the Florida wonder boy and hire Roy Fletcher. They decided to make the Cleco issue a “poison pill” that could be used against Jacques in the campaign, and structure the issue so no matter how it ended up, Roy would be the political goat. If the COA wins, the voters don’t get what they should because the “other pigs” got their cut. If the COA loses, it’s because Roy was Mayor and didn’t fight hard enough for the voters.
Delores also wants to trash Bridgett because she made a fool of Delores on local TV.
The whole ad campaign is to set the table for the next 4 years, not the election next week. Delores knows she will never sit in the Mayor’s chair and is allowing her campaign to be used to destroy Jacques and his political future.
Survey says….. The Brewer people are indeed toothless lions of the past. Although their campaign tactics are clever, they rely on Jacques stumbling his way through his first 3 years. They will then attack him and try to elevate an alternate candidate during the next election cycle. Their plan falls apart should Jacques turn out to be an effective mayor. The biggest flaw in their plan is the memory of the voters. The Cleco affair will be settled by spring of 2007 and forgotten by 2010. Look for continued attacks from the old lions, however, they will prove ineffective. Soon the old lions will be relegated to the ash heap of history.
The feathers and bones have spoken.
Tuesday, October 31, 2006 9:23:12 AM
To fail to expose the political intellectual dishonesty of the Brewer campaign will allow it to continue in the next election. The folks who supported her and were kept in the dark, need to become informed and not let their allegiance be taken for granted in other campaigns with the same handers in charge. We can't just go on like good sports and not parade the truth of this campaign before the electorate. Exposure is necessary. The truth is too important to be swept under the table at our expense to save the feelings of those who are undeserving of our sympathy or compassion. Live by the sword, die by the sword. Do not fail to hold those responsible for these acts accountable. They will prey on your goodness to sanction their unacceptable immoral actions. The voters and taxpayers were the victims, not the Provostys, Sadlers and Scotts.
"Live by the sword, die by the sword." Talk about over the top. Must be political neophyte still in the true believer stage. This too shall pass.
OK, "we heard that", don't expose the behind the scene lies. Let's not be uncivilized. Let everyone think that this was just an aberration. Appease these people and maybe next time they will play nice and intellectual honesty will reign. And I'm the political neophyte. It is interesting you do not speak of fact but resort to namecalling and ad hominem attacks. The true sign of anti-reason. The "Live by the sword" quote is perfectly applicable here and I can't think of a better example than this mayor's race. If any facts I mentioned were incorrect, please correct them. If my reason was faulty, enlighten me. But if you are simply trying to inflate your ego by slamming the bearer of concepts you deplore, you are doing yourself and your listeners a disservice. The more dishonest politicians are exposed to the public the better off we all are.
Please quit beating the horse. Let's focus on the matters at hand. The future is before us not behind us.
Apparently, the (dead?) horse will continue to be beaten until someone comes forth with the minutes and/or audio, along with the list of attendees, of the Brewer post-primary strategy session. Unless and until all that info is published above the fold on the front page of The Town Talk, uploaded on every possible web site and piped into our living rooms and cars by KALB and KSYL, the cudgels will continue to fly.
The Roy transition team list contains no surprises.
http://www.thetowntalk.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061115/NEWS01/61114028&SearchID=73263023908032
I was surprised that the Roy appointed one of the most vicious 2-name republican crones to his team. She was part of the phone bank kicking Jacques' ass all day every day. This woman is motivated exclusively by self-interest and self promotion and doesn't work well with different viewpoints and opinions. Oh well - hands accross the water and all that.
Yes, but I heard Jo Betty Sterkx was horrified by the Garden District Rapist ad. She has done so much to revitalize the Garden District. Reportedly, she felt as though the ad would hurt those efforts by making folks afraid of living there. I think she's a good pick because of her work. Plus, she could be a bridge to the blue hairs for the future.
The re-posted anon from Oct. 31 is accurate to a point. But there are INACCURATE parts as well, such as the statement that the close supporters thought DB would lose on Sept. 30. Not so. Actually, DB had not shared her polling with ANYONE. So, they all showed up that night believing she would lead the field and that she would have either Roosevelt or Roy in the runoff with her. However, her polling right before the election showed Roy as having pulled out way in front. She was told that she would run second or third and it was too close to call between her and Johnson. But no one else in her camp knew that.
Also, I believe that DB started out in the runoff actually believing she could turn things around. She became furious with anyone who suggested she could not win and that bowing out would be best for her reputation, career and family. By the end, I think she knew she was finished.
My point exactly. She was not horrified by the rapist ad because if unfairly portrayed Roy but because it may have a negative effect on her real estate profits. Her involvement has always been motivated by her own selfish interests. She nearly destroyed the Garden District Association because they disagreed with her on some matters.
I think that you will find that her history is not that of a "bridge" but more that of a "moat".
That being said, I think we have to trust Jacques's judgment.

D. Brewer did a very good job at the city. She was an asset during her 16+ years there. IMHO, she was not cut out for being a candidate for political office, nor was she mayor material. I think that if she takes personal responsibility for her nasty, bungled campaign, apologize to Mr. Roy, to her former boss, and to the community, she could restore her reputation. Only then could she help with the transition and continue to be involved in making Alexandria a great place.
Hey, I think DB is still at Disney World.
Talk about being raped - wait until she sees the prices in that tourist trap.
I think not only is Delores still at Disney World, but so is anon: 8:39:39 A.M. Delores showed her true colors during this campaign. In a pinch she will always revert back to her basic nature. Don't be fooled.
People don't want Delores in city govt anymore period.
Delores is a tool. The most important result of her defeat is that the old in-control folks's pillage is over. Those folks not only pillaged the old fashion way by reaching in the till, they did their greatest harm and received their greatest benefit as power brokers and influence peddlers. I hope that their fall serves as an object lesson for those coming into power.
For the life of me I cannot understand where most of you idiots come from. Yes, it is true that everyone has an opinion, but Geeeezzzzzz! You folks form your opinions based on a Pollyanna view of the world. We Saw That is right. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Roy might be the fair haired biy right now, but he will succumb to the dark side if he holds office for more than 3 terms.
Anybody who believes in the goodness and light of a politician is an idiot.
Anybody with a modicum of political savvy knows candidates run constant polls right up to an election. Rarely does a candidate, particularly a neophyte, keep good poll numbers a secret, although, occasionally, a seasoned pol will do so, should the situation dictate, to keep the opposition off balance. Consequently, that Brewer, a genuine neophyte, kept the late, pre-primary poll numbers to herself spoke volumes to many of her savvier supporters. If any of them were surprised, it was due to her second place showing, however miniscule the margin. Most expected her to place third in the primary, marking October 1 as the day to close the HQ. That would have happened, regardless, had Brewer looked, with a rational, pragmatic eye, at the only poll numbers that counted: the primary election results.
To reiterate, somewhat, Anon 8:39:36 AM, although Brewer did perform very well as Capital Projects Director, initially, many in her company were unsure of her ability to be a strong mayor. That she sought the Chief of Staff position brought her judgment into question and her performance in that position raised the level of uncertainty. Nevertheless, the unsure berated themselves for being so, without absolute proof of inability, and decided to risk it and give her a shot. As the primary campaign unfolded the initial uncertainty slowly began to reemerge reaching the tipping point at the first press conference of the general campaign. The rest, as it is said, is history.
Will private and public apologies begin reconstruction of bridges unnecessarily burned? Perhaps. It’s certainly worth a try.
Dead Horse, you’re dreaming.
Perhaps Dead Horse is dreaming but right now we have every reason for optimism and hope so let's not give up yet.
Take off the rose-colored glasses, Anon 11:22:22 AM, and take a peek at the list of Roy’s Personal Advisors, then take a gander at the composition of the City Council. For the sake of argument, let’s say Roy is the squeaky clean, cockeyed optimist you seem to be. Can either of you see the vise poised to tighten? What a joke.
The terrible situation that currently exists is a combination of unforunate circumstances:
A. a disabled and not terribly strong or assertive mayor;
B. people in the adminstration poised to take advantage of that disability;
c. a resulting group which found it to their financial and political advantage to let the Council run rampant by selecting the mayor's most trusted advisor, a city attorney, that had no allegence to the mayor and screwed him over in every possible way.
Hopefully, that fatal combination won't exist anymore.
If we have a mayor that will abide by and enforce his prerogatives under the charter and force public scrutiny of wrongdoing, I think we can get to justice and prosperity from here.
On this site, is it fair for the world to intrude for a minute? Tonight, Glenn Beck’s production, Exposed: The Extremist Agenda, will air on CNN Headline News (Cable 19). It’s an hour long and will be shown three times: 6 pm CST; 8 pm CST; 11 pm CST. From all reports, it’s a chilling “must see.”
glenn back LMAO that guy is a raving lunatic. plus in a 27 july 2006 appearance beck treated wesawthat... official unofficial rabbi yisroel dovid weiss very shabbily.
OK, Beth, since Wesawthat, the real raving lunatic, doesn’t recommend it, I’ll be sure to watch.
lol :-P
and We Saw That loves a rabbi like he loves a gulag.
This City Council will NOT be much of a cerebral or muscle match for Roy's group. Word is he is assembling a group of not-so-well known counter punchers. They are smart, tenacious, loyal and not seeking the limelight for themselves. Moreover, a few are spoiling for a fight they know they can win. If this happens the turf war will be settled within the first year. We may never know it happened.
The council's ability to obstruct it our greatest concern. If they don't get their way, they can make the very existence of city function and service cease. Will they do it? Bridget Brown says yes. Will they ultimately get away with it? I don't think so? They really don't understand any limits. We can thank Ned and friends for that.
In the ruling today, that International Paper had to pay its ad valaorum tazes to the Ward 9 Recreational district, IP seems to have relied upon a statute which expemted it from municipal taxes where it provides its own utilities? The statute contains water service.
Please explain the City of Alexandria pipeline to IP. How is IP providing its own water service if it gets water from the City of Alexandria?
Ok - serious question - what do the people listed under the heading of workforce development actually know about workforce development?
Also, if he wanted new and fresh ideas on economic develoment why is he leaning so much on Chamber leadership?
And why is he depending on Deborah Randolph? Has anyone warned him to watch his back. She'll be stepping on it with those high heeled black boots on her way to the top. All the while, putting her lipstick on those fat lips.
No offense Lamar, but I seriously don't see anyone on there except the two hospital execs that no crap about workforce. They can focus on one area only. We have to start thinking creatively how we are going to continue to provide employees for our existing employers - and that's not just burger flippers and front desk staff - that's beyond medical personnel. We need high tech operators. My GOD we JUST lost McKesson/Parata for some of these same reasons. We do not have skilled people entering our workforce, much less those that can actually complete an application. I'm just hoping those remaining 8 people are from industry.
Here's something real interesting to note: Murphy Oil - a Louisiana company - is moving jobs to Texas. Why is this interesting???? Well Murphy is no other than Bertie Murphy Deming Smith and her children now, along with other family members and board members. Murphy is the oil company that had tanks rupture during Katrina and spill oil in the Chalmette/St Bernard area. The information released does indicate they are only moving their exploration division out of state, which are generally the higher paying wages.
After hearing the efforts of Shell to remain committed New Orleans over the past few days, I must say I am ashamed of Murphy.
He is leaning on Mrs. Randolph because she currently is running the mayor's office. What advise do you realy think he could get from Ned??
Has anyone noticed all the loans Delores made to herself in the waning days of the election? Many of those were actual loans given by her supporters to get around campaign finance laws. Mary Jo gave her 5k but it is not reported because she believes she can circumvent election finance laws by making a personal loan. Who investigates these actions?
I guess you would have to have some sort of proof and then go to the ethics commission since that's where we look for the campaign finance reporting.
JINDAL RAISING FUNDS FOR GOVERNOR'S BID!
11/15/06 XXXX 18:59:36 PM CT
THE DEAD PELICAN HAS RECIEVED THE FOLLOWING FROM THE JINDAL CAMP
"I am not interested in playing a political blame game. I want to run for Governor for one reason and one reason alone: To rebuild Louisiana into the best state possible. The best state for education, the best state for high quality health care, the best state for high-paying jobs, and a state government with the highest of ethical standards. Will you join me today in leading the way to change?"
Dear Friends,
Thank you for all of your help in my re-election campaign for Congress. We worked around the clock and took nothing for granted. As a result, I won with a historic and humbling 88 percent of the vote. I share this victory with you. This is our victory.
In Congress, you can count on me to continue to work hard to secure our borders, to deal firmly with foreign threats to our national security, to make tax relief permanent, to repair our local infrastructure, and to bring Louisiana our fair share of offshore royalties.
But I am writing today with some hard truths. More than a year after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, too much of our state remains in shambles. It is time for new leadership in Baton Rouge.
One year from now, Louisianians will choose who will serve as our Governor for the next four years. And not a moment too soon.
Our state needs a Governor with a steel-like determination to get the job done, no matter the many obstacles before us. No excuses. No run around. Just helping the people of Louisiana to rebuild their homes, their communities, and their lives.
As one of my most dedicated supporters, I wanted you to hear it from me first. I have taken the first step towards another run for Governor, reactivating the Friends of Bobby Jindal gubernatorial account.
In Washington, I hear people parse words and talk in circles all of the time. So I want you to hear it straight from me; I want to run for Governor, and I will be working hard over the next several months to see if I can build the support necessary to run a strong, successful campaign.
I need your help.
Today, our state faces a serious crisis like never before. Like yours, the future of my family depends on our state turning things around, and quickly. I just do not see the forward-thinking leadership Louisiana needs coming from the current administration.
But while our state has fallen on some hard times, our current governor has done one thing very well; raise money for her campaign.
Please know I will not enter the race for Governor to play a political blame game. I will enter for one reason and one reason alone:
To rebuild Louisiana into the best state possible.
The best state for education,
The best state for high quality health care,
The best state for high-paying jobs, and
A state government with the highest ethical standards.
Will you join me today in leading the way to change? It will be tough, but the reward will be a state of which we can be proud. I cannot do it alone. I am humbled to have a strong base of support in the First District, but to win a race for Governor, I will have to expand my support to every last corner of our state.
I need to know right away whether I can count on your help. Your special gift of $5000, $2500, $1,000, $500, $250, $100, $50, or even $25 to the Friends of Bobby Jindal gubernatorial account will show the rest of the country that people across Louisiana fully support a change in leadership and a change in the way our state operates.
If you simply cannot afford to help at this time, please consider signing up as a volunteer or to put a bumper sticker on your car or truck.
Any support you can give today will make a difference.
Louisiana is currently called the least livable state, ranking near the bottom in education, third to last in health care, and one of the worst in crime. We did not get here overnight. But as a native Louisianian, I will not sit by and watch my beloved state languish any longer.
We need a fresh start. We need a new leader with the energy and innovative ideas to overcome our significant challenges, many which existed even before the devastation from last year.
In hard times like these, we are reminded of what really matters in life; faith, family, and love for our neighbors and friends.
My wife and I are teaching our three young children that each one of us has a responsibility to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Our kids are asking us hard questions now, like why did the hurricanes hurt good people. In five years, they will be asking us much tougher questions if we do not make some serious progress and seize the opportunities in front of us. And that is one of the many reasons I want to run for Governor.
We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to drastically improve our state. We owe it to our children and future generations to succeed.
In order to rebuild Louisiana, we must make vast improvements in ethics and efficiency, in education and health care, in our economy and our infrastructure.
First and foremost, we must bring common sense to how our government works and restore trust with the highest ethical standards. We must also immediately eliminate the red tape and bureaucracy that has plagued the recovery efforts, and rid ourselves of the waste, fraud, and abuse in the current rebuilding efforts.
Right after the storms, a helicopter pilot called my office for help. He was ready and willing to rescue people stranded, but could not get a single government agency to give him permission to fly. It was a classic game of pass-the-buck bureaucracy and lives were at stake. So I took matters into my own hands; when I got the same run around from a whole list of agencies, I told the pilot to go for it.
I still do not know if it was within my authority, but I was not about to risk the lives of people because of bureaucratic incompetence. If some government agency wanted to complain about it, I was willing to take the heat.
Ever since, I have been working in Congress to ensure that the failures of last year are never repeated. The response from the federal government was marred by bureaucracy at its worst, and we must continue to improve our disaster preparedness at both the state and federal level.
The future of our children depends on the quality of their education. Recently, a teacher told me she no longer sends notes home because half the time she does, the parents come up to school and get mad at her.
Right now, 50 percent of our new teachers get out of working in the public schools of Louisiana five years after they graduate. The number one reason? The environment in the classrooms. Louisiana ranks 39th in the nation out of 40 states reviewed in discipline and this must change.
It is time we refocus our school system on performance and make the changes necessary so every Louisiana student has a genuine opportunity to learn. We must recruit the brightest teachers in the country, and then give them the support they need to stay. As Governor, I would work for more support and flexibility for teachers, increased academic achievement, and restored discipline in our classrooms.
And since young and old alike deserve the opportunity to earn a decent wage at a good job right here in Louisiana, we must grow our economy and encourage companies to come do business here. That means reducing taxes and eliminating unnecessary bureaucratic regulations. We have to stop being one of the few states that heavily taxes corporate investment, creating a powerful deterrent to new business start ups and a reason for businesses to move elsewhere.
We must also build safety nets for the most vulnerable among us; building a high-quality health care system to which all Louisianians have access. Louisiana currently ranks as the third worst state in the country in terms of access to affordable health care. We could help a lot of people by adopting a Health Insurance Flexibility and Accountability model and an Independence Plus model. These are national models of excellence used in many states that I helped to create. Instead of an all-or-nothing, one-size-fits-all approach, we need to do more to help working families access health care.
And restoring our coastline and wetlands is important not only for the quality of our life, but for our safety in future storms. As Governor, I would make increasing our hurricane and flood protections an urgent priority.
Last year, Louisianians experienced a fundamental shift in our quality of life; and not for the better. It is like we had three disasters; the storm itself, the breaking of the levees, and then poor response from both the federal and state governments.
And the disaster continues.
With nearly $100 billion approved in assistance, we have yet to see that much in actual work on the ground due to fraud and waste in the recovery process.
The list of government waste in the response and recovery after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, at all levels, reads like a rap sheet; an estimated $2 billion lost to fraud and waste. $200 champagne, months at a Hawaiian resort, five season tickets to the NFL football games, $175 tarps, and hundreds of trailers sitting unoccupied. All this while families and businesses with urgent, legitimate needs have to wait, and wait, and wait.
It is inexcusable.
In contrast, the private sector and faith-based organizations continue to step up where government has failed; for example, providing shelter after the storms and now demolishing and clearing neighborhoods of homes and debris that remain more than a year later.
While Louisiana has relied heavily on our federal government in our recovery efforts thus far, this is not the ultimate answer. Our recovery lies in the hands of individuals helping their neighbors, businesses locating and reopening in our communities, and trade groups once again booking their conventions in our state to enjoy our rich culture and heritage.
The waste and fraud from the storms last year storms show that sensible reforms must be made. As money continues to come to our state for disaster assistance, we need a new leader who will take charge and make sure the money is used wisely.
We all know it is time for new leadership for Louisiana. A decisive leader who we can count on; in good times and in bad.
Next year, we must elect a leader who will take responsibility. It took our state years to sink to the bottom of so many national rankings. It will be a tremendous challenge to turn the tide. But we must. And I believe we can.
As a state, we face significant challenges. But they are not insurmountable.
It will be hard work, but I am up for the challenge. Are you?
I am ready to work hard to earn the opportunity to lead Louisiana into a period of rebuilding and renewal. But I need to know you will be with me every step of the way.
To run a successful statewide campaign requires money and manpower.
You have been a great help in my past campaigns, and I hope you know how thankful I am for your generosity and support. Now, I hope I can count on you again. It will mean so much to me to know you are on my team.
Please send your largest contribution of $5000, $2500, $1,000, $500, $250, $100, $50, or even $25 to the Friends of Bobby Jindal gubernatorial campaign.
There is no time better than the present to truly begin rebuilding our state. Let us use these challenges as opportunities to build the Louisiana of our dreams.
May God bless you and your family.
Sincerely,
Bobby Jindal

wow! people who claim to be so "in the know" and no-one says anything about Jason Gamlin being on the trasition team? All of the snide comments about 'water slide' and here he gets picked to transition?well,well-so much for 'no sweetheart deals', eh, Mr. Roy?....
I found some interesting things in reading a few of the campaign finance reports -
for instance Delores received money from Mary Novakovich - I'm guessing this is Eli's wife. If so, I'm quite ashamed for Mrs. Brewer. Why would you take money of any amount from a high ranking Cleco official's family when they have ripped off the rate payers?????
On the other side I see where the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers from Cleveland OH gave funds to Roy. Gee, wonder if that has anything to do with the additional load on the rails our new industry is providing to rail services!
It appears Jason had some problems when he was at the HUD office in New Orleans - http://www.hud.gov/oig/oig60001.pdf
Why didn't anyone know this beforehand???
not commenting on mr. gamblin however this bit from the audit report page 4 is interesting concerning "the press"
"The Baton Rouge Advocate disclosed Safety Net's abuses in an extensive press story. As a result, the United States Attorney in Baton Rouge opened a criminal investigation. Prompted by the adverse press reports..."
hmmm
According to news reports the court of appeal has upheld the TAX passed and assessed against International Paper for the recreation distict in Pineville thats located OUTSIDE of he district. Way to go Mayor Fields. I have worked at IP since I graduated from high school 32 years ago and am still not able to retire. When it closes I will have a very hard time finding anyone who will hire me. Thanks a lot for your wonderful leadership. I am not the only one tired of the image over substance that really goes on in Pineville. Just watch how that whole gang at City hall tries to back track. They all want to take credit for things when its good and run and blame others when its bad. Mayor, You put up one of your stupid signs that SAYS its Pineville recreation park at the ballpark, you hosted the opening ceremony and acted like you were responsible for it and took every ounce of credit for this softball heaven yet when the criticm comes when International closes you will be quick to say " I ain't got nuthin to do with that there ball park " Well, way to go. Maybe we understand now why big shot Dupree didn't get an invite to meet our IP managment when they came to town the other day. You know, its really a scam and a smoke screen how things go on over here. Sure there will be many who will say that Pineville is a model but its not. Decisions are made before there is ever a meeting. They give themselves raises whenever they want. When people notice they run and hide. Notice how the alcohol issue disappeared as soon as it hit the news and got a little friction?. If it requires real thinking and planning it is lost in Pineville. But hey, lets have a parade, lets promote ourselves while supporting veterns and doing everything to act like you are leading our community all the while not doing anything for infrastucture or real economic development. How quickly we all forget about the hotel 'convention center' that has no water.ha...or the sewer line attached to the water line serving people crap in their ice makers or the Pizza Hut burning down because you didnt have enough water pressure to put out the fire and then had the nerve to blame the water works district..... And no Clarence Dupree, we aint buyin that you have anything at all to do with drugstores and walmarts and all the other things opening in Pineville that you like to take credit for. All you have had going for you in recent years is how bad Alexandria has been such that acting like you live in Mayberry made you look good. More and more people are recognizing the limitations of vision and intellegence that you , your midget and your bobbin head counsel have. It is ironic that Roy would ask Fields to advise him on transition . No one will forget how you wound up in that office to start with. Maybe he should have asked the real man with power to help him with transition. To hear Roy tell it he is hiring people with education and training and experience. PLEASE tell us about the extensive education, training and experience that the administration of Pineville has. Does anyone at all have anything beyond a high school education over there????Sure, we all want to be comfortable with smiles and apple pie, but over time , the shine wears off and we begin to see that there ain't much under the top layer. Say goodbye to IP and put a big bow on it thanking our wonderful leadership in Pineville. This is probably the last Christmas many of us IP faithful will spend her in Fineville and those of us who are hurt by the leadership or lack thereof will not forget.
Fields pushed the tax I remember getting a phone call so if he says otherwise he is just a liar.
It does seem like they have a lot of water outages over there in Pineville. I see in the Town Talk where there are water outages around the City again tonight. Whats up with that?
Fred was a plumber
Water outages are caused by lack of planning for water needs of future expansions by Clarence Dupree. Shows you how effective a radio announcer is.
Also Fields on the transition team may also be able to tap into thew exoerince he gained at CLECO. lol
Speaking of plumbers, it would have been nice to see some working class people on the transition team, to be totally inclusive of the entire community.
Many summers ago when we discovered the fresh water aquifers were dangerously low, it was pointed out that International Paper was supposed to have been using water from the Red River and was not. If my memory is correct, one of the reasons International Paper found the area attractive was because of the Red River – the water source the company promised to use. What gives?
Mr. Roy is finding out very quickly that he can't and won't please everyone. He had very little time to put together a team to assist him. I think it's a strong, solid team. Anyone left off should understand that they could still become involved. These teams end their work on Dec. 3. Mr. Roy's term lasts four years.
Anon. 10:01:03 p.m.
You are obviously either Nita or Kim. Your venom should be aimed at the true mastermind of your husband's ousters--Mr. Provosty. I am a close friend of Mrs. Randolph's. I happen to know that both she and the mayor wanted to take another avenue and keep them and that they still anguish about it. Provosty swore it had to be done. He won. After all, he was the one providing legal counsel. Not Mrs. R. She's merely trying to help her husband during his time of need. I doubt she believes she's running things either.
Why not call or write Mr. Provosty today to express your anger and venom at him?
Mayor and Mrs. Randolph are assisting the Mayor Elect and his wife with the transition and Inauguration. They believe it is important for the new administration, and for the community. I remember when Mayor Randolph took office in 1986. There was no cooperation from the previous administration-no exchange of information, no assistance. It was extremely difficult. It should not be that way. No matter your opinion of the current Mayor and wife, their help will benefit the transition. It's not even about them. It's the right thing to do no matter who's going out of office and who's going in.
Fern is absolutely right and I find it mystifying that anyone would criticize the current administration’s willingness to help with a smooth transition. It’s a no-brainer to anybody with even the smallest sense of grace.
Well, there is about to be a lot of water available because as of yesterday some of us were told the IP will be closing this year. It pisses me and my family off that we have leadership that is more able to set up a photo op than they are able to have any significant positive contribution to real economic development in Pineville. We need our factory to stay here not more burger joints and bars which is the extent of what our Mayor knows about. I wish the Pineville election were tomorrow. It would be very interesting to hear the stuttering and cliches that our Mayor will have to contribute to Roy. Clearly this was nothing more than an effort at PR to put Clarence Ray on is transition team. What can he advise Roy? How to run off more busiesses? He does seem to have that ability despite the fact that people are fleeing Alexandria in every direction including into Pineville. The Mayor of Woodworth has more to do with growth in his little town than 10 Fields/Duprees. I do not think our fair Mayor fully understands how much us redneck crackers out here at IP blame him for our closing. Quit all the smiling and PR and roll up your sleaves and get some people to run the city who have the first damn clue and alittle bit of experience to make a differenc.
More and more, these blogs are reminding me of the Salem witch hunts or the era of McCarthyism. All one has to do is drop a name, add a negative reference, and then the destructive process goes forward. They simply do not comply with the Journalist Creed that was developed over 100 years ago. The originators of the blogs, it would seem, have some sort of obligation to make sure that what appears is more than just the ranting of one party or the other. The creed, in case the originators are not aware of it, goes as follows:
The Journalist's Creed was written by the first dean of the Missouri School of Journalism, Walter Williams. One century later, his declaration remains one of the clearest statements of the principles, values and standards of journalists throughout the world.
________________________________________
I believe in the profession of journalism.
I believe that the public journal is a public trust; that all connected with it are, to the full measure of their responsibility, trustees for the public; that acceptance of a lesser service than the public service is betrayal of this trust.
I believe that clear thinking and clear statement, accuracy and fairness are fundamental to good journalism.
I believe that a journalist should write only what he holds in his heart to be true.
I believe that suppression of the news, for any consideration other than the welfare of society, is indefensible.
I believe that no one should write as a journalist what he would not say as a gentleman; that bribery by one's own pocketbook is as much to be avoided as bribery by the pocketbook of another; that individual responsibility may not be escaped by pleading another's instructions or another's dividends.
I believe that advertising, news and editorial columns should alike serve the best interests of readers; that a single standard of helpful truth and cleanness should prevail for all; that the supreme test of good journalism is the measure of its public service.
I believe that the journalism which succeeds best -- and best deserves success -- fears God and honors Man; is stoutly independent, unmoved by pride of opinion or greed of power, constructive, tolerant but never careless, self-controlled, patient, always respectful of its readers but always unafraid, is quickly indignant at injustice; is unswayed by the appeal of privilege or the clamor of the mob; seeks to give every man a chance and, as far as law and honest wage and recognition of human brotherhood can make it so, an equal chance; is profoundly patriotic while sincerely promoting international good will and cementing world-comradeship; is a journalism of humanity, of and for today's world.
I personally like the thought of of Randolph passing the baton to Roy in an orderly respectful dignified manner. Delores left us all with a bad taste. Some refined pagentry is needed and welcomed. Certainly many of the transition appointments were political hat-tipping and not the best or the brightest but there are many talented and insigtful people there. Things are going to be better, and then great.
I would appreciate it if those with the cut & paste fetish would recognized the inconvenience they cause everyone else. Learn to use a link or a reference or a URL and leave the capture to us. This is really not a site to post a treatise or some plagerized prose. Please give us a break.
THe mayor of Woodworth is only helping that stupid town grow b/c he runs an ILLEGAL SPEED TRAP.
Well hell at least the Mayor of Woodworth has a plan and it doesnt include only promoting himself.
The extremely popular Pineville Mayor, Assistant, and Counci have a sole critic on this site and he/she/it wails away at them endlessly. Apparently the Pinevillians know who this detractor is and rag him/her/it pretty badly. They seem to suggest that it is Lawyer Aymond, who appears to have made very few, if any friends, and garnered little to no professional respect.
The Mayor, Council and staff work for me and the other people of Pineville and we have nothing but the greatest respect, gratitude, and affection for our government. That's what counts.
Thanks Nathan, but there are more of us out here who care more about the City than just putting on a show. Remember, Baden was once popular with the good people over here too. Time will tell.
And I ain't no damn lawyer and I aint no damn racist. But from the talks I have with people around here the Mayors popularity is amplified over and over by the same little group of people. Its all smoke and mirrors. Its when something like the crisis at IP happens and we look around for a leader and realize he ain't here that it pisses us off that instead of running our city he is busy getting headlines helping ALEXANDRIA or going to Baton Rouge. He is supposed to be here helping us.
He does that because he believes the smoke up his ass that tells him that he could run for another office. Its all part of the Dupreerove plan. I think there are more than 50% that would love for him to step across the river for a vote.
Well, we gotta either believe your sour grapes or the Pineville election results. If you had more balls and less mouth, you would have run for his job. Then we could see who is popular and who is a sore loser (emphasis on "loser"). But, I noticed that facts don't seem to impress or enlighten you very much. I see why you have few friends and little to no professional respect. You earned your status. Wear it proudly.
God, that was fun. Signing off now. Peace
Why was Clarence Fields on Roy's transition team and not Ned Randolph? Deborah Randolph rather than the mayor himself? Could it be that the mayor is not capable of knowing who the hell he is supporting? Could it be that he is in that "stage" that all he wants is to be loved by someone. The drooling and kissing and "I love yous" on the stage on election night were humiliating at best. This is all very sad.
No 9:49:33. You are very sad. Why don't you go hang out at the vet's office and maybe you can see somebody bring in an injured puppy. That should get you off.
No 9:49:33. You are very sad. Why don't you go hang out at the vet's office and maybe you can see somebody bring in an injured puppy. That should get you off.
No, Nathan wasn't me. I sign my name. But rest assured, I am a critic of Pineville when it does wrong, and have successfully sued that City and have won for my clients. The reason I am not liked by the City of Pineville, is that I have successfully defended wrongfully diciplined Pinevill firemen and policemen, gotten past due wages for Pineville workers, and made them clean up mold in the City Court building. All of those actions, I am proud of.
I also know that Rich Dupree's past as a radio announcer in no way qualifies him for the job he has, and know Rich Dupree is a lier and supports graft and corruption. So there, you have this from the horses mouth. If you had read the the IP posts, you should have know I do not work for IP nor live in Pineville. Matter of fact, I am no major fan of IP. Time for you bunch to learn that I am not the only persons who finds things smelly in Pineville.
this whole thing is beginning to depress me. i haven't heard a peep about the waterslide.
Ooops I failed the spelling and typing tests. Sorry.
Anon 9:49 a.m.
You are obviously a very disturbed individual. You do not possess the amount of class in your entire being that the mayor has in his little finger. Your life must be really shitty if you are compelled to sit at your computer and spout such filth. Or maybe you're a homophobe who never hugged your father, uncle or son. Whatever it is, you need to head to your preacher/priest or rabbi to get your head straightened out. Or, here's another idea, go chew on a bar of soap to clean your filthy mouth.
I live in Pineville and I agree with the previous posters. There is too much smiling for the cameras and trying to promote himself and not enough real leadership in Pineville. I know he is a Christian, I know he is nice, I know he is an African American and I know he is easier to talk to that Baden was. BUT when you talk to him or hear him on the radio it is absolutely unmistakeable that he really had no plan of his own , no idea of any of the details and that if anything happens over here its because he either saw it done somewhere else or someone who stands to make a buck has convinced him to do it. Just like the previous poster said the infrastructure is in terrible shape over here . Just like this listing in the paper today we have this happen all the time. I have been hearing Fields and his assistant talk about infrastructure and economic development for years now and everytime they want to pass another tax but here we are again . Same problems. The new Walgreens is nice but what we would really like is to have decent services . I live her. This is not hypothetical . It is real. Its just a shame that everyone is so busy that they tend to excuse it.
Boil advisory still in effect for some Pineville residents
Water service to some Pineville residents has been restored, but a boil advisory still is in place until Friday afternoon.
Water was cut off last night to about 150 homes in the College Drive area as Pineville city crews repaired a fire hydrant. The repairs were made successfully, but the boil advisory is in place until
When was the last time that we had a boil advisory over here in Alex? Maybe Mayor Fields can teach us stupid people in Alexandria how to mess up our water system.
Homophobe? I thought Clarence was straight. Learn something every day.
Aymond says it a pretty good lawyer and a pretty nice guy? That's good enough for me.
Gosh, I didn't realize Pineville Citizens were so UNHAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are embarrassed and didn't want you to know so they returned the Mayor and Council for power without opposition and had a huge celebration for them. Sneaky huh?
Get your facts straight. The IP suit was not filed by, nor was it against the City of Pineville. Mayor Fields was not a party to the suit, either as a plaintiff or as a defendant. You can go to the Third Circuit web site and look at the opinions released on 11/15 to read the whole opinion. At no time will you see Mayor Fields mentioned as a party, or the City of Pineville. Please take your witch hunts elsewhere.
Here is the web site:
http://www.la3circuit.org/
I know the answer, I know the answer - Waterworks #3 sued IP for the Recreation District.
Hollingsworth and the Preacher Toney had a brain fart and sued IP so IP could close down and everybody lose their job but can have a playground to play in.
Another psychopathic liar is on the loose and I think it's our little butterball buddy, Greg Aymond! Who, in his thinly veiled disguise of an IP worker, posted a rather long winded message at 12:06 this morning.
So, I find myself ripping into Aymond once again just to set the record straight. First Tubby, let’s get it right out there. Those that know you hate you. Your own law partner kicked your fat ass to the curb because you’re a shitty lawyer who was costing him a ton of money. You attempted to defraud the IRS but got caught and were forced to pay them off at the threat of prison time. You’re a member of the KKK. (oh you say you’re a FORMER member, but the oath you took to them says you in for life). You were fired as the attorney for a public board because you got caught defrauding them! You have been before the ethics board more times than anyone cares to count and you want us to believe that you speak the truth when you post here. Amazing.
Here’s the answer to B/S post Aymond. The City of Pineville is in no way connected to the tax lawsuit brought by IP. It’s a PARISH tax, over a piece of PARISH property, and IP will cut a check to the PARISH when everything is said and done. The rec complex was named the Pineville complex at the insistence of Steve Bordelon, Ward 9 police juror because Bordelon’s district lies almost entirely in Pineville.
Aymond, when it comes to lies, you’re as bad as Delores Brewer.
Delores Brewer? Which pig was Aymond?
Lets set the record straight. Every one of my co-workers is aware that the recent leagal action was brought by Rapides Parish and not the City of Pineville. Contrary to the opinion of some, IP workers are well aware of the Parish's efforts to unfairly tax our company. We know who is it blame, and we know that the City of Pineville is not on that list.
#2 The IP mill is not about to close. We make some of the highest quality kraft paper in the world. No other mill anywhere can compare with our quality for the product we produce. The rumors of our closing were due to production and electrical cost increases, not taxes. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.
#3The Mayor of Pineville has his political enemys, but International Paper is not one of them.
LMAO take your pick, they all displayed a striking resemblance to little piggy...ah, er...I mean little greggy.
Noooooo you don't get it! IP illegally laid a water line to TJ Hollingsworth's new house. Mr.TJ decided that Roy Hebron should buy the house because his brother Wes was on the board of Water Works #3 Rich Dupree voted to fire Aymond because tubby uncovered the truth about Hollingsworth and the water line across the river from Alexandria wells. Water Works #3 stole the water from Alexandria and double billed Greg for it. So, Butch Lindasy ordered Aymond to investigate the water department in City of Alexandria. Aymonds them filed an ethics complaint against Rev Toney because the choir at his church sang to loud.
Bottom line is that Aymond hates everyone because he's a piss poor lawyer who's broke and blames everyone but himself for being such an asshole!
Well you left out the part that Aymonds investigation resulted in Curly Brown and Sanders getting fired because they had a pig LLC that they rented out to city council member Myron so he could try and get in the bloomers of the double named blue hairs.

Nothing in your post is true. I have worked for 2 lawfirms, Neblett, Beard & Arsenault, and Phillip Terrell, which are both in the telephone book. Anyone can call either and ask if "my ass was ever kicked to the curb".
Secondly I have never had a business closed nor was threatened with jail by the IRS. In fact I have never been audited by the IRS.
Next I am not now a member of the KKK, but was for approximately 2 or 3 months in 1979.
I have had 3 or 4 , I believe Ethics compalints filed against me with the Office of Disciplinary Cousel, all of which have been dismissed. The most recent one, filed by Rich Dupree, was dismissed this past May. If it the State Board of Ethics, you speak of, I have never had a complaint filed against me there.
I was not fired for defrauding anyone. Had I done so, those concerned had a duty to report me to law enforcement, the District Attorney, and the Legislative Auditor. None did. In fact, Rich Dupree informed me that I was fired, after 16 years of service to a public water district, because I should have know that the Board members wanted the Roy Hebron matter "over and done with as quickly and quietly as possible."
Lastly I did not post those discussions of IP. I too read the opinion and wondered what Pineville had to do with it, as it was over a Ward 9 Recreation tax, as I recall.
Your vile lies are simply that, lies. You have often attacked my character with such lies, no doubt influenced by retaliation for some court case or report of wrongdoing. Why don't you offer proof of your allegations if you want anyone to believe you? Numerous posters to this Blog, and others, have told me that your vile unsubstantiated attacks, have actually convinced them that a lot of the corruption I have reported could be true.
Also, I voted for and publically supported Jacques, so there is very little comparison of me with Brewer. The only reason I waste my time to refute what you type, is because it does bother me that someone can post such lies without the courage to provide their name. But as long as one can post anything anonymous opn here, I guess there is little I can do about it. Of course if you hate me so much, you are always welcome to grow a back bone and tell me to my face. I am fairly easy to locate.
You forgot about Water Dist #3 lying to the CIA about Sadam's WMD's and luring us into a terrible war. And it's Kurds, not turds, and, well, you can imagine how they pronounce Shiite.
You know that part about anybody can post anything whether it is true or not kind of reminds of lawsuits.
Anybody can sue anybody for anything and some lawyer will accept the case.
The turds hid their WMD under the waters of Big Creek which is why General/Preacher Toney wants to drill a water well so they remain hidden but Aymonds gonna out them when he writes a book about the games Dupre has announced while Chief of Staff for Pineville because the Mayor's wife is an insurance salesperson.
Do not lose sight of the fact that the Mayor's wife's office was a palm reader's home and the place may still be inhabited by physikicks so she knows what is going to happen which means she may be either Biff or Sothsayer. Do physikicks use entrails or feathers?
She was a Gypsie palm reader which means she only read palms of arabs and insecure Pentecostals.

No. For the Pentacostals she would have to be a psalm reader.
score a point for the psalm reader - really good one
I was puresing the dictionary and thesoreus and enciklapedia seeing if words spelled backwards had any meaning. only found one word spelled backwards and that is the word backwords but you can spell other words backwards but they don't spell backwards. Anyhow I came upon the midnight clear, actually have came upon some dark and stormy nights as well as other times but I digress, when I found out that posting about mangum. Nothing about mugnam but it sure had some purty sounden stuff about mangum.
It was a dark and stormy night. All the God-fearing people were snug, warm and dry in their bed. Suddenly a shriek shrieked out.
Shrieks have to shriek out they can't ring out. Bells ring shrieks shriek.

The foreposting - not to be confused with play - makes about as much sense as the aymond tit for tat
If you know Aymond, you know you are talking some serious tits.
I don't know, apparently i am lucky, aymond but I knew mabel hawthorn
Come to think of it how do you know about aymond's tits? I thinketh the game is afoot.
Let's get it straight. It was IP that brought the suit, not the Parish, not the Police Jury, or anyone else. IP simply did not want to pay a tax that had been legally adopted by the people of Ward 9. They had a chance to encourage people to vote against the tax, but failed to do so. Then they hired some fancy attorney to try and reinvent the law in their favor. Read the case. IP was the plaintiff, not anyone else.
I haven't actually viewed Aymond's tits but something looked mighty perky under that sheet. It may not be their natural state. Sometimes a good cross burning can cause erousal in those guys.

don't forget the FRONT BUTT,,,,
"I happen to know that both she and the mayor wanted to take another avenue and keep them and that they still anguish about it"
Thats Bullshit. The Mayor and Mrs. have had many chances to clear the air and make amends to not only Craig and Chambers but to other city employees. Those that were subject to Dorsey's wrath, to the council dictating daily work and slandering employees, even ignoring written evidence of many such things. I'm glad Ned is happy and can enjoy life without all the daily stress but do not excuse him or his past actions.
There seems to be some slight confusion about the Roy transition team and how it will function with the current administration. The team was created to interface with members of the mayor's administration.
In other words, Mayor Randolph and his team are on one end of the conversation, and Roy's transition team is on the other end. That's why Roy's team does not include any current members of the Randolph administration, including the mayor himself.
Mayor Randolph's wife Deborah is on Roy's personal advisers committee for a couple of reasons: She's not a member of the administration, and she brings to the table a wealth of knowledge about government. She was an obvious choice.
It would be interesting to find out how Mrs. Randolph acquired this vast array of political experience. I am not sure how long they have been married but she is his third wife. If memory serves she was possibly a reporter for KALB TV prior to becoming Mrs. Randolph (I could be in error) and was employed (I think) by Rapides Regional. One would think her vast political knowledge consists of "being there" during his illness.
To the best of my knowledge she has never held political office nor has she been elected or appointed to any position but again I may be in error. She is on the team only because Ned is non-functional (not a criticism just a statement of fact) and she is the link between the old and new.
If she is so politically astute how has she allowed the city council and the city attorney to steal the city away from Ned?
Her being on one of the committees is just political payback for Neds action doing the election.
Mrs. Randolph gets no pay and no authority or power in her position on the transition team. All she gets is a show of respect for her husband's contributions over the years. Why would you be offended by that gesture. It would seem like a more likely target would be Gamlin, the water park guy. Why 0 why would he legitimize such a political parasite?

It would be interesting to know which posting this is in response too. I fail to see where anyone, especially me, indicated being offended. Do some of the posters just sit there and dream up this interpretive bullshit?
Roy's handmaiden Lamar White stated the reason she is on the team is she has vast political knowledge to which I reply BS. She is there as a courtesy only she has no political expertise.
The people that offend me are assholes like the poster that read into postings things that are not said. Lamar stated a fact, I challenged his fact - how that is considered offensive I don't know. Even the idiot poster agrees with me that she is there only for show.
"water park" *perk*
Splitting hairs again are we tubby?
"Anyone can call either and ask if "my ass was ever kicked to the curb."
Of course Tubby, in public, with your history of filing assinine lawsuits for stupid things, no boby will say anything. But in priviate, your old buddy Terrell says otherwise.
"Secondly I have never had a business closed nor was threatened with jail by the IRS. In fact I have never been audited by the IRS."
Very careful wording there Tubby. Your old law firm, the one where you and Terrell were partners WAS audited. Remember that Tubby? They found that you did't pay your employees withholding and threatened to tag your ass for tax fraud unless you paid up.
" Next I am not now a member of the KKK, but was for approximately 2 or 3 months in 1979."
Once a Kluxer, always a Kluxer.
" I have had 3 or 4 , I believe Ethics compalints filed against me with the Office of Disciplinary Cousel..."
So we are to believe that it's OK to act in an un-ethical manner sometimes, right Tubby?
"I was not fired for defrauding anyone. Had I done so, those concerned had a duty to report me to law enforcement, the District Attorney..."
You were, members of the board have publicly said so...They did report you...Our DA decided to let the matter drop. Wanna know why? Ask him.
"Lastly I did not post those discussions of IP."
Bullshit!
"...there is very little comparison of me with Brewer."
You are both accomplished liars, you both have an inflated opinion of your own ability, talent, and IQ, and you both are universally hated by those who know you well. I would say that you are both very much alike!
"Of course if you hate me so much, you are always welcome to grow a back bone and tell me to my face. I am fairly easy to locate."
Last time I looked Tubby, dwarf tossing was illegal. Besides you really don't want me to come looking for you. To be a physical threat to anyone you would have to lose 200 lbs, grow 10 inches and gain considerable physical coordination.
Crawl back into your hole Tubby...no body wants to hear from you.
I find it interesting to read of all of these warm and fuzzy feelings toward Ned Randolph. Delores Brewer, Sonny Craig, Harold Chambers, numnerous ehtics and Legislative Auditor cited violations, and weak and often absent presence in City Hall are all attributable to Randolph.\
It is obvious that his health and mind have been in bad shape for years, but his handlers felt that we people, who he works for, did not have the right to know about it. The result is that we have had an opportunistic shadow government in place for years, instead of the one we elected.
So we are to believe that it's OK to act in an un-ethical manner sometimes, right Tubby?
I thought he said they were dismissed? Anyone can file anything, that does't mean its true? Also, I don't see what being "tubby" has to do with anything. Although I don't know much about what the argument is with this lawyer, I am not impressed with the lack of logic by saying that he is fat. I would like to hear the proof about his being fired, committing fraud, and the IRS, if there is any proof of that.
Deborah was the governmental relations director for CHRISTUS you dumbass. She also works with the Louisiana Health and Hospitals Coalition in regards to their lobbying efforts. She now has her own firm and Rapides Regional is one of her clients, not her only client. She has lobbied both state and federal delegations on behalf of the healthcare industry. That is how she knows so much about governmental affairs. She gained he knowledge by working not by being married.
She maybe Ned's third wife, but he is not her first husband.
Get off Deborah and like has been suggested go look at the other obvious choices to bash. Waterslide has been suggested. Von Jennings did nothing but serve as Garrett's right hand at LTC. See how many TIFs Fuller suggests which are not allowed under our currect legislation - even though he's a "consultant" and doesn't know what we can and can't do. There are way to many other targets.
It would appear that those attacking the Randolphs are Brewer klan and yes I meant a K, who think there was some agenda in having Deborah and her brother work on Delores's campaign. GET A LIFE.
How did Delores's campaign come out? I missed it.
My my such a ranting in response to a simple question. The question was where did she get her experience. No one attacked her. The author stated numerous times that the information may be in error.
Seems as though a raw nerve has been struck here. Are we seeing a hit dog howling? Sure is a lot of cussing, diversion of attention to things well known. Von Jennings was/is one of Lamar's grandmother's favorite darkies and was hired at LTC because of her antics at WIB causing her to resign along with what's his name the sexual harrasser who resigned from the job training center. Grandma got both hired at LTC - her influence is deep. But I digress.
All that was asked is what is Mrs. Randolph's qualifications. Response was cussing, accusations, etc. What is being covered up?
I have read the numerous posts concerning the Mayor-elect's transition team and wonder why all the hand wringing?
These appointed people have no real authority. They will make suggestions, only. Roy's executive committee will filter these suggestions and pass the worthy ones on the Mayor-elect.
The man who Chairs the Executive Committee is an accomplished public servant with a proven record of honesty.
Where's the beef?
Survey says....should there be any concern as to Roy's choices for position, these objections should come after he takes office and appoints people who will wield real power. At this stage we would all be wise to conserve our powder.
The feathers and bones have spoken.
PS - To the poster who asked this question..."Biff or Sothsayer. Do physikicks use entrails or feathers?"
a) Microsoft Word's spell check is activated by using F7
b) Both feathers and entrails should only be used by qualified experts, Please don’t attempt this at home. Biff prefers goat entrails, but because of the stench involved I use feathers and bones. Both methods are equally accurate.
Ahhhhh Tubby...you're a piece of work....
" So we are to believe that it's OK to act in an un-ethical manner sometimes, right Tubby?

Now who is firing back from under the sheet? Nice try Bozo...
F7 is that F to the seventh power?
Last time I looked Tubby, dwarf tossing was illegal. Besides you really don't want me to come looking for you. To be a physical threat to anyone you would have to lose 200 lbs, grow 10 inches and gain considerable physical coordination.
Oh yes indeed I really do want you to come looking for me. And your failure to do so shows all exactly what a lying chicken shit coward you are. I am 5'5" and 235 lbs, so I don't think I qualify as a dwarf. I will even sign a waiver of liability, in case you have the balls to take me on.
I am also making a public records request to the Water DIstrict and the D.A.'s office for any reports of fraud on me.
When I was with Phillip Terrell's office, I was an employee and, as such, paid no employee withholding taxes you idiot. I have no knowledge of Mr. Terrell not paying payroll taxes, but as I had no employees it couldn't have been me.
Give us the case cite of any "assinine" lawsuits I have filed. In 20 years of practice, the sole suit against Rich Dupree was the only one I recall being dismissed by a court. Once again proove your allegations.
You are doing nothing but atacking me because I have either reported you from some crooked act, or are aligned with someone I have. It is a shame that you use this public forum for your lies and cowardly attacks. I challenge you to back up what you say or keep your mouth shut.
And what is it with you people on this Blog, do you have double standards? It appears that you object to personal attacks and ubsubstantiated rumors when levied at some, but not others? Do you truly debate issues here or is it simply an online beauty shop gossip column? I thought that the recent election proved that people did not like liars, but perhaps I am wrong. Do you develop your opinions without any fact or proof? If you do not care to read this stuff, then step up and tell the cowards that you do not care to read gossip unsupported by facts. I have been defamed, and since these are anonymous cowards there is no way to confront them.
feel the love! also, soothsayer has spoken wisely. amateurs have no business delving into feather and bones or goat entrails. most homeowner policies specifically exlude any damages resulting from feather and bone, or goat entrails. proceed at your own risk.
Well....it looks as if this blog has been reduced to trashy attacks between Greg Aymond and Anonymous who the hell knows who. What a total waste of space used by that Anonymous. It would really help if we knew who that Anonymous was, since they seem to always be there waiting in the wings to attack Mr. Aymond. I don't know Mr. Aymond, but he sure seems to have a lot more spunk and nerve than Anonymous who the hell knows who does.
Please allow me to respond personally:
If any of you have questions about why Deborah Randolph was appointed and what her qualifications are, why don't you show some courage and call Jacques up at his office and ask him yourself? The number is 318-487-9729. It may take him a few hours to get back to you, but I am certain that he would be delighted to answer any questions you have.
As far as Von Jennings is concerned, she has two bachelors degrees, one in political science and one in public administration, as well as a masters in political administration and ten years of experience in workforce development. My grandmother has absolutely nothing to do with her appointment, her education, or her work experience, and any attempts to paint her as "one of (my) grandmother's favorite darkies" should be interpreted for what it truly is: racist.
Again, if you're truly concerned, then demonstrate some courage and civic responsibility and question the Mayor-elect himself.
Lamar, the anonymous idiot is just some rotten Brewerista who can't stand that Deborah is involved and probably thinks that all women, but particularly black women like Von Jennings, are incompetent.
A racist, sexist jerk.
The sad thing is that he's probably so used to saying shit like this that he'll blame everyone else and try to make himself look like the victim.
Lamar, thank you I will call Mr. Roy and personally tell him about the incompetencies of Von Jennings. Things I am aware of because of projects she "worked" on and despite her three degrees could not grasp the concept despite how simple it was. Sometimes performance in the classroom does not translate to performance in real world.
I just saw a copy of Brewer's original idea for the Pig Commercial.....

I would have preferred more City workers on the transition team. However, I, like many others that complain, was not elected Mayor of Alexandria. I voted for Jacques to use his best judgment to run this City. Give him a chance people, he has not even taken office yet. There will be plenty of time to speak up if and when he makes a mistake, but at least let him be sworn in first. Run for Mayor next time and you can put who you want on your transition team.
Is that Delores in that Ad??? I saw her eating a hotdog at an Aces game once, but DAYUM!!!
I just spoke to Jacques. He's at his office, and he's waiting for your call.
Well guess what - I've called, left messages - it's his turn now.
"Well guess what - I've called, left messages - it's his turn now."
You are soooooooo full of shit.
Greg Aymond - thanks for the advice, I too voted for Jacques. Given that I feel I have a right to express my concerns over the transition team. Considering you're the guy who keeps ranting about WWIII and Rich Dupree I think I'll keep expressing my concerns to him personally and in public.
Really, then I guess 451-37** is not the right cell number. Since I don't think he wants the entire world to know I'd rather not put the full number in a public forum.
"I am 5'5" and 235 lbs, so I don't think I qualify as a dwarf."
Compared to me tubby, you do. Like I said, you need to grow 10 inches to look me eyeball to eyeball. As to weight, I only outweigh you by 20 pounds or so, my 255 isn't blubber.
"I thought that the recent election proved that people did not like liars, but perhaps I am wrong. Do you develop your opinions without any fact or proof?"
No tubby, you're right, we hate liars, which is why we dislike Brewer and you. The people in general know you for what your are, we have seen enough proof and established enough fact by watching you operate. We know you, you toady little man! Damn Tubby how stupid can you be! It's as if you are asking..."What are you going to believe, your own eyes and ears or the things I write on this blog?"
And, speaking of blogs, did you ever post your proof on your blog Tubby? How about the audio file you say you have but never produce. Put up or shut up Tubby!
Face it round boy, NOBODY CARES WHAT YOU THINK! We only care about speaking the truth and letting others see what a liar you are. We really wish you would just go away.Geeezzzeee! What does it take for you to get the message that YOU AREN'T WELCOME. Why would you keep spouting your lies when nobody believes you. It's like, why would you want to stay at a party where EVERYONE hates your guts!
So, go ahead, file another public information request. Cost the taxpayers more money for another of your famous fishing expeditions. But be careful Tubby, when you become a public pest, there are repercussions.
Classss.

Poor Greg. He reminds me of my son's favorite game at Chucky Cheese. The player takes an bat and bops the gopher in the head every time he pokes out of his hole.
Ever feel like a Gopher Greg?
A racial remark has prompted two resignations from the Rapides Parish Workforce Investment Board.
WIB Administrative Assistant Sharron R. Hills submitted a letter of resignation dated Wednesday to WIB Chairman Barry Hines. Last Thursday, Richard Heath, WIB secretary and member, verbally tendered his resignation, according to WIB Chairman Barry Hines. Hills, a black woman, said Heath made a racial remark about her, using the "N" word, and Hines said a tape of the meeting in which the word was used supports her contention.
"At this time, after several instances of an apparent lack of trust in allowing me to learn and perform my duties, deliberate miscommunication and finally, an attack upon my personal character with a racist reference, I believe it to be in my best interest to relinquish this position and allow the WIB to move in the direction they deem best," Hills wrote.
Hines made no reference to reasons for Hills' resignation during Thursday's WIB meeting, only mentioning it had been a "tumultuous transition" between the former and current boards and that "we're taking positive steps now." Seven WIB members resigned April 9, including all of the board's officers and committee chairs.
The seven members together made up the membership of the WIB Executive Committee that carried out day-to-day operations of the board between monthly meetings. The resignations ended months of disagreement between the WIB and the Rapides Parish Police Jury over each group's role in providing employment training and opportunity.
New members have since been appointed. Contacted by phone Thursday, Hills said that in an Executive Committee meeting, one of the members made a racial reference, "using the `N' word," which she said she felt was "out of place at a professional setting." Hills identified Heath as the person who made the racial reference. Efforts to reach Heath for comment Thursday were unsuccessful. A person answering the phone for Heath directed calls to attorney Stephen Everett, who was also unavailable Thursday. "Obviously, I couldn't serve in my capacity with that type of reference made," Hills said, adding other incidents reflected "some animosity" against former Executive Committee members. At Thursday's WIB meeting, Hines told members Heath had left an answering machine message tendering his resignation but nothing yet had been submitted in writing. The board elected Mary Swiggum as secretary to fill the vacancy. Contacted after the meeting, Hines said Hills "had several reasons in her letter, and I took it at face value, and Mr. Heath resigned verbally to me last week." Hines said he understood words had been "used inappropriately in a conversation" but didn't know whether it was directed at Hills. "I didn't hear him say the word," Hines said. Hines said he was later told the meeting was taped, listened to the tape and "confronted him with it, and he (Heath) decided to resign." Hills said Heath had made a motion to eliminate her position at the first meeting of new WIB members. Hills said she had never met Heath before and that he could not have known about her duties or position unless he'd been given prior information. Hills added she was not a Police Jury employee but a WIB employee, yet "a lot of things went directly to staff and not to me." "I stayed on trying to do my job," Hills said, following the previous board's mass resignations in April, but felt she was being "circumvented." "I was trying to be professional, but things were happening that were definitely unprofessional. To me, that comment in a business setting, a professional meeting, was not appropriate," Hills said.
Richard Heath... or is it another certain racist Dick?
Mr. Aymond, please don't misunderstand what I am about to say to you, I do not mean it to insult you in any way.
It would seem that you have many enemies on this blog. For whatever reason, be it true or not, they do not have a high opinopn of you personally, your ability as a lawyer, your character, or a number of other things. Weither their opinion is justified or not, they seem to have a particular hatred for you.
Is there a particular reason that you persist in yanking their chain? This group of bloggers all seem to highly resent anything you say concerning Pineville City government and it's elected or appointed officials.
I have to say, when a mayor and the entire council of a town gets back in office un opposed, it speaks highly of their public opinion. As I understand it both mayor Fields and mayor Hebron, and both councils were retutned to office without anybody opposing them. This fact alone makes your persistant critizism of Hebron and Fields seem like tilting at windmills.
Why don't you just keep your opinions to yourself?
I have never seen anyone attack you here for any reason except when you attempt to smear these two men.
Give it a rest Mr. Aymond. Your tirades against those officials in North Rapides seem unfounded and vengeful. In essence, they lack credibility and reflect poorly on you.
How many times does this make that the entire WIB board has resigned in the last decade? Seriously guys, this rotating board, disagreements between the WIB and the Jury over control is nothing but a distraction for what needs to be done to address the skills development in Rapides Parish. Employers have to constantly battle when it comes to dealing with the local WIA staff for services, the WIB and the Jury fight over the money and how it should be spent. This is not how to attract business to the area and not how to keep what we have happy. It definitely is not a way to even think about preparing a workforce to meet our future needs.
A friend brought this site and the posting to my attention. Allow me to state fact.
The word nigger was not used in a conversation. I used it, unknowingly, in a WIB board meeting as a simile. Shows you shouldn't run your mouth without your brain in gear. I did not even know I had used the word. Upon listening to the tape of the meeting and realizing I used the word I called the Lady in question and apologized. All memory serves is that she accepted my apology.
Do I use the word? Sure. Is it part of my normal speech. No. I, along with many, many others have used the word nigger. It is an actual word though not a politically correct word. Here is the definition of the word:
Nigger is a term used to refer to dark-skinned peoples, especially Africans or Negroids. It is often used by other races, including blacks, and is often regarded as offensive.
Now exactly what the purpose of posting my name and the incident on this blog is I do not know. Maybe you think you are "bothering" me in some manner. Your not. You would be better served identifying yourself and contacting me personally if you have a problem with me.
The incident was uncalled for, was a mistake on my part and offended the Lady in question. As a mature Christian individual I rectified my transgression against another individual by aplogizing.
There is no law against the use of the word Nigger. There is a Christian obligation to not offend others and when you do your supposed to make an effort to rectify you transgressions - I did.
Then deciding my actions and my continous presence on the Board would cause nothing but more problems in an otherwise heavily problemed agency - mainly as a result of, in my opinion, Lamar White's Grandmother - and impede the forward progress of the WIB I resigned.
You failed to tell the world this Lady was/is the wife of one of the Black Police Jury members preacher - her hiring another Rapides Parish Political deal.
You also failed o tell the world my telephone number has been in the Alexandria phone book since 1971. Had anyone had a question they should have felt free to call.
In Christianian sincerity and political correctness dear poster go begat thyself.
In closing you forgot to include the J. in my name. In the future please use it. It has special meaning to me.
Richard J. Heath, you are a manly man. there are few southern whites that have never used the nigger term. pc says we have to refer to it as the "N" word. i've never quite understood the dichotomy between the "n" word is fine for blacks to use, but if a white uses it inadvertantly, he is a racist. i know nothing about you or the wib, but from your post, and your apology, i sense you are a good man trying to do right, as we all should be. carry on and don't look back.
also, re aymonds v. whomever, take it somewhere else. set up an aymonds blog and duke it out there. i haven't seen any winners or progress on the whole deal. i will say, aymonds has certainly said he will talk to his antagonists on the phone, and after that offer, the anon attacks seem to lack balls. i am clueless as to who is right or wrong, but if a man says call me to discuss it, and you refuse, the word spineless comes to mind. next, lay off slamming roys appointments re the transition team. they have zero real power, and roy wants all the input he can get. maybe some of them are losers. who cares? fact is, a goodly percentage of people are losers, but under democratic principals, they get to vote and be heard. most importantly, we all need to take a breath, step back and concentrate on the important issue----waterslides.

Is the performing arts center flawed?
Alexandria refuses to say
By Town Talk staff
The city of Alexandria is refusing to release to The Town Talk a report written by the expert hired to find out where and why the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center is leaking.
The Town Talk believes the report is a matter of public record and is pursuing appropriate action to present its findings to our readers.
In the meantime, we are encouraging readers to use Story Chat to share related information with us regarding the arts center, which costs the city and its taxpayers $100,000 a year to operate plus utilities, and the city's efforts to keep the report secret.

Biff,
You can't be serious. Richard Heath is not a manly man. He's a redneck, racist idiot who thinks it's acceptable to "accidentally" slip up and call a woman, a preacher's wife, the N-word for absolutely no reason at all.
Biff, Richard Heath didn't really apologize. Notice that in his confession, he's constantly justifying his actions. He may have not broken any law, but he exposed himself as a bigot. It's all on tape.
Richard Heath, we know you've been the one blogging all this racist crap. It's either you or one of your cohorts.
Is anyone at all surprised that only one hour after an article about Heath is printed on Cenla Antics, Heath himself writes in?
Heath's mad about Joanne White because she wouldn't give up, and she understood that the Police Jury was spending federal workforce and economic development monies on superfluous personnel, basically creating unnecessary paid positions for the friends and family members of jury members instead of what the money was earmarked toward-- programs and children. In the end, the mediator agreed with Mrs. White, and the Police Jury had to change some of its policies. She stood up and held her own, and if she was so wrong, then why did David Britt, Rosa Fields, Von Jennings, and many, many others agree that the Police Jury was overstepping its authority? Why was the police jury reprimanded?
No one likes it when someone comes along and tells them that they've been doing things incorrectly, but this was obviously the case with the way the WIB was set up to deal with the Police Jury. Joanne White had the courage and fortitude to stand up to the status quo and demand to know where workforce development dollars were being allocated. That was her responsibility as WIB chairperson, but because the Police Jury was used to doing things their own way in their own little fiefdom, they didn't appreciate Mrs. White coming along and telling them why they were wrong.
Lamar, if you want to really know why these people attack your grandmother, it's not because she did anything wrong. She held her own. I suppose now you're able to see the caliber of people we're talking about. The people who attack Joanne White for demanding to know why federal money was being spent on personnel and not on the programs they were intended for are the same people who result to ad hominem, racist attacks against those who disagree with them.
look, i qualified my comments by stating i knew nothing of the facts. that aside, my reading of mr. heath's comment was an apology. why can't we just focus on a waterslide for alexandria?
Give it a rest Mr. Aymond. Your tirades against those officials in North Rapides seem unfounded and vengeful. In essence, they lack credibility and reflect poorly on you.
That statement shows that you, like many others, form an opinion without knowledge of the facts. Let me explain once and for all. I have reported several matters of corruption dealin with Roy Hebron and Water District 3 which have reluted, in the past two years, the removal of three board members by the Police Jury, ethics charges made against Roy Hebron by the State Ethics Board, with his hearing in February, Ethics fines against his brother, a former Water Board member, and current investigation which are ongoing by several federal and state agenccies.
I have my own website and post much of this information there. My history with Pineville is that I have sued them, successfully, several times for matters ranging from sewage to past due wages. I was also the attorney for Pineville City Court, and during those years was involved in many disputes between the City and the Court, mostly dealing with matters concerning the City's obligation to the court building.
I am also a citizen of Alexandria. I came to this Blog due to my interest in my fellow lawyer's, Jacques Roy's, campaign for mayor.
However, since my site and others are moderated, some anonymous people have chosen to attack me here, because they cannot do it elsewhere. I have never been disciplined by the State Bar Association, never been complained of to the State Ethics Board, never had a payroll tax problem with the IRS, and my standing in the legal community can easily be checked with the Judges of this Parish, if any cares to do so. During my 20 years of practice, I have had only 2 employers, Neblett, Beard and Arsenault, and Phillip Terrell, both of whom can easily be contacted to inquire about me.
I did not bring this battle here, but, as does anyone else who is defamed with falsities, I do often defend myself. Perhaps that is needed as many people, such as you, develop an opinion without knowing the facts. I still invite anyone who wants to see facts of what I claim, to simply contact me if you truly want to develop and informed opinion. Also, anyone who wants to whip my ass, is also free to do so or try. Regardless, I will continue to speak out against government corruption whether any of you like it or not.
Also I have a right to so speak out. Although my web site is devoted to corruption, mostly about the North side of the River where I have the most information, I have even posted a request that my website not be pasted on this Blog because of the controversy it brings. However, when this, or any other topic, is discussed on this Blog, I have as much right to comment as the Blog owner allows me. So if wants to ask me about anything that I post anywhere, feel free to contact me. So far, Spanky is the only one from this Blog that has taken me up on the offer, so perhaps you should ask him about what he has seen and heard at my office. I am going to try to work harder at not getting angry with cowards, who post anonymous lies, and with ignorant people, who post without knowledge of the facts.
